Lesson 20 No Stopping!

【教学过程】
Step 1: Lead in
1．What places do you pass on your way to school?
2．Look at the pictures. What places do Jenny and Brian pass on their way to school?
Step 2: Listening and Reading
Through listening and reading the passage, answer the following questions.
1. How do Jenny and Brian usually go to school?
2. Why don’t they take the school bus today?
3. What places do Jenny and Brian pass on their way to school?
4. What places does Brian stop?
Step 3: Language points
1. Jenny and Brian are on their way to school.
on one’s/the way to 意思是“在去某地的路上。

”
eg. ①我在上学的路上遇见我的老朋友。

I met my old friend on my way to school.
②我经常在回家的路上买些吃的。

I often buy some food on my way home.
2. Usually we take the school bus.
take a bus 和by bus 意思都是“乘公共汽车”前者是动词作谓语, 后者是介词短语作状语。

eg. ①我乘公共汽车去超市。

I take a bus to the supermarket.
②我乘公共汽车去上学。

I go to school by bus.
3. They come to a corner.
in the corner, on the corner, at the corner
4.He is pointing to the right.
point to...指向......所指对象一般是较远的人或物体，强调所指物体与动作发出者之间有一定距离。

eg.这个人指着北方告诉我去邮局的路。

The man point to the north and told me the way to the post office.
point at...指向......所指对象一般是较近的人或物体，强调所指物体与动作发出者之间距离不大
或就在眼前。

eg. 强盗正把枪对着我。

The robber is pointing his gun at me
5. Then cross the street.
cross 是动词, across是介词,不能单独作谓语,但可以和动词搭配使用。

意思是“横穿”。

eg.当交通灯红的时候,我们不能横穿马路。

①We can’t cross the road when the traffic light is red.
②We can’t go across the road when the traffic light is red.
6.Turn left.
Turn left 向左拐，还可以说成turn to the left.
eg.向左拐，你就会找到那家医院。

Turn left, and you’ll find the hospital.
7. Soon they pass a bookstore.
pass 用作动词, 意思是“经过。

”
eg. 当你走过那家商店时,你能买到一些水果
You can buy some fruits when you pass the shop.
pass 相当于go past , walk past, go by, walk by
passed 的发音与past相同/pa:st /
8. No stopping!
No visitors!谢绝参观！
No noise! 禁止吵闹！
No pets!不准养宠物!
No smoking!禁止吸烟！
No parking!禁止停车！
No fishing! 禁止垂钓！
no加上名词或者v-ing,可以构成表示禁止性警示语。
