In the near future, we may be using our eyes to operate our s mart-
phones and tablets, even when it comes to playing popular ga mes like Fruit Ninja.
The Gaze Group has been developing eye-
controlled computer technology for nearly 20years, But those devices have been firstly designed to help those with disabiliti es, and are very expensive.
“After a while, we figured out that probably the best way is to go for a mass-
market way,”says Gaze’s Sune Alstrup Johansen. “where eve rybody would have this available.”
Johansen and some of his colleagues have formed a new co mpany, the Eye Tribe, which is hoping to develop the technol ogy on a mass commercial level.
The technology works when combined with the computing de vice toward the user’s face. After making sure of the user’s ey e movements, the technology is then able to easily find where a person’s eyes are moving, and then allow the eyes to contr ol a cursor (光标)
“Our software can then determine the location of the eyes and know where you’re looking on the screen to make sure what you’re looking at, ”reads an explanation on the Eye Tribe site. There has been a gradual change toward hands-
free technology in recent years, particularly in the gaming worl d. Recently Xbox released the Kinect device, which lets users control their Xbox and play certain games using only their ha nds, legs and voices. But sill, most of these devices have bee n more of a gimmick than a practical way to use one’s hands t o control a mobile device. Johansen said a replaceable filter (滤光
器) would be a cheap, convenient way for most consumers. And even as companies like The Eye Tribe work to create suc h a product for the average user, making the eye-
controlled technology more accessible and less expensive will have similar benefits for physically disabled users.

参考范文:
Some of us think that it is better to see the film than to read th e book in the original. The reason is that it takes less time to u nderstand the whole story. Besides, the film is usually more in teresting, and it is easier to follow.
Others have just the opposite opinion. They think that they ca n get more detailed information from the original. Meanwhile, t he language in the book is possibly more lively and beautiful. Personally, I agree with the second view. Actually I have more reasons for it. I think I can stay at home, reading quietly in a s ituation of my own, and what’s more, I am able to better under stand the author’s ideas. In a word, to read the original work i s better than to see the film based on it.
