What makes a successful speech? First, you should have a good speech script which tells your own life, feelings and experience so that your ideas and language can catch people's attention. And some skills are necessary, too.
Here are some suggestions on giving great speeches:
◆Beat nerves
Relax yourself before and when making a speech. Practice your opening sentence three or four times. This will help make a sure start and a successful speech. When you stand on the stage, think of the audience as your family members and friends.
◆Keep it natural
Natural body languages will help your speech: smile, stand straight and look at the audience. Do not drop your head or play with a pen. Also, dressing yourself nicely will help the audience feel respected.
◆Pace and pause (节奏和停顿)
Pace and pause add color to your speech. Speak fast enough to keep people excited and slowly enough for people to fully understand you. After an important point, pause for a moment. It'll change the atmosphere (气氛)in the audience.

Many people in England are angry that drivers park their cars on the pavements(人行道). Cars that are on the pavement block(堵) people from walking safely down the street. They have to walk into the road to get around the cars.
The charity for the blind, Guide Dogs, said blocking the pavement is “inconsiderate and dangerous”. It says it’s a lot more difficult for blind people to walk around the town if cars are in their way. A spokesman for the charity told the BBC, “It can be frightening for anyone who is forced to step into a road because the pavement is blocked by a truck, a car or other badly parked vehicle. Imagine you have to step into a road where you can’t see oncoming traffic.”
A survey on parking in Britain found that 70 percent of people want a ban(禁令) on parking on pavement. A town south of London has already started a system to get drivers to park on the road or in a proper car park. Any motorist who parks on the pavement gets a $115 fine. However, many people say the fines do not work. Local people say car owners don’t mind the fine and park where they want. People pushing their children in baby cars and people in wheelchairs are afraid to walk on busy roads where there is heavy traffic.

If you are going to apply (申请)for a job ,be prepared for the kinds of interviews you can expect .One type of interviews is the telephone interview. Here are some tips for telephone interviews:
Predict the questions. Before the interview, guess and write down the questions you might be asked. Practise the answers orally until you are satisfied with yourself. The questions can be about your working experiences, skills and achievements.
Keep your notes easy to get. Have any key information next to the phone, covering your notes about the company and the questions you have prepared for. Then you can easily get the information you need. In this way, you will sound more prepared.
Avoid salary(薪水) topics. When you are asked how much money you would expect, it’s not wise if you give no answer. But it’s not right to give an exact number at once. Try to be open to discussion, so you’d better say something like, “If this is the right job for me, I believe we can come to an agreement on salary .”
Push for a face-to-face meeting. At the end of the interview, don’t forget to sell yourself. You can say something like, “I am very interested in your company. If possible, I’d be really happy to see some of your managers. I am free either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. Which would be better for you?”
After the telephone interview, only a few are left for face-to-face interview, so get prepared and good luck!

Do you know how many bones are there in your body? When you were a baby you had about 330 bones, and now you have just over 200 bones. The number reduces because some bones join together as you grow. Your wonderful bones work together to protect you and support your body.
Many uses
Many bones protect your body. For example, the bone that makes up your head is called the skull. The skull surrounds your brain and protects it. The ribs that cover your chest protect your heart and lungs.
Other bones are used to support the body. The many bones in your feet allow you to walk, and stand on your tiptoes. Your hands and feet have more than half of the bones in your body!
Biggest Bone
The longest and strongest bone in your body is in your leg. It is called the femur and it goes from your hip to your knee. It is a very important bone because it carries all of your weight and helps you move from place to place.
Smallest Bone
Would you believe the smallest bone in your body is in your car? It is about the size of a grain of rice and is called the stirrup. When sound waves come into your car the
stirrup shakes back and forth, allowing the sound waves to reach your brain. When the waves reach your brain you bear the sound.
“Funny” Bone
Hah! The funny bone isn’t really a bone at all. It is actually a nerve (神经). When you hit the nerve tha t is near your elbow, it really hurts or tingles. What’s so funny about that? The funny bone probably got its name from the bone that is above your elbow. That bone is called the humerus, which sounds like the word “humorous”, meaning “funny”.

Many people do not know what to do in face of a decision, big or small. Most decisions aren’t life-changers. But often, the decision isn’t between this or that; it’s between acting or not. If this challenges you, here are some tips.
Jog or ride a bike to nowhere. Just start moving in hopes of leaving the familiar. Walk down every street or path you can find until you lose your way. Then, see where you end up. Remember what it felt like to wonder where you were going? Try to lose yourself more often. It’ll make you better at making a decision.
Sit outside without any technology for an hour. Let yourself get bored. Can you hear the birds singing? The wind blowing? Yourself breathing? Try to do this once a week, then every other day, then every day. One of the reasons we find it hard to make better decisions is that we keep getting attracted to new things. A break from the noise will lead you to the decision you need to make.
Do something that scares you. People who have trouble making decisions fear mistakes. Tell someone you love them. Laugh out loud in a public place. Give a speech to a stranger. And when you do this, remember how you feel When you’re sacred by a risky situation the next time, tell yourself that you didn’t lie. And try to trust the process in the future. Some of these things may seem silly, but the more you do them, the more you’ll control yourself. It doesn’t matter where you’re going. Just go. Once you start moving, you can always change direction.
