My Summer Vacation
Yay, finally summer vacation is here! School is out and I have two whole months off to play and have fun. No more homework or tests for a while. This summer is going to be awesome!
The first week of vacation my parents took me and my little brother on a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house in the country. We live in the big city, so it's really different being out in the fresh air with all the trees, animals and wide open spaces. Grandma and Grandpa have a huge garden and they let me help pick fresh vegetables and fruits. I pulled up carrots, dug for potatoes, and picked tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries and more! Everything tasted so good, way better than the stuff from the grocery store.
Grandpa also showed me how to fish down at the lake. He taught me how to put a worm on the hook and cast out the line. It was pretty boring just sitting there waiting for a fish to bite, but then I actually caught one! A tiny little sunfish. Grandpa said I did
a great jo
b for my first time fishing. We didn't keep it though, we let it go back into the water.
In the evenings, we would have bonfires and roast marshmallows. The marshmallows got all gooey and delicious. My little brother got marshmallow all over his face, it was so funny! We also went on nature walks and saw rabbits, squirrels, birds and even a family of deer. The deer were my favorite, they were so pretty with their big ears and brown coats. At night we could hear owls and crickets making lots of neat nature sounds.
After a week it was time to go back home to the city. As much as I love Grandma and Grandpa's place, I was actually happy to get back and see my friends again. I missed riding my bike and going to the park to play on the swings and slides.
A couple weeks into my vacation, my parents sent me to a day camp. The camp had all kinds of fun activities like swimming, arts and crafts, hiking, playing games and sports, and more. My favorite was swimming because it was SO hot outside and the pool felt amazing. We had swimming races and played pool games like Marco Polo. I'm a pretty good swimmer so I usually won the races.
In arts and crafts we made all sorts of cool things. We made puppets out of old socks and put on silly puppet shows. We
painted pictures and made sculptures out of clay. One time we even made our own tie-dye t-shirts! We had to twist up the shirts really tight with rubber bands, then dunk them in different colors of dye. When we untied them there were crazy, colorful patterns all over the shirts. So cool!
Hiking was fun too, but super tiring since it was so hot out. Our camp counselors took us out on the trails and we looked for cool bugs, different types of plants and trees, and animal footprints. I even saw a garter snake slithering across the path! We had to be very quiet so we didn't scare it away. At the end of the hike we always stopped for a snack break in a shady spot.
When I wasn't at camp, I mostly just hung out and played with my neighborhood friends. We rode our bikes all around and had epic NeRF battles where we tried to blaster each other with those NeRF foam darts. We played video games (my parents let me play a little more than during the school year) and we went swimming at the community pool quite a bit too.
A couple times my family went to the movies to see some of the big summer blockbusters. We saw a superhero movie, an animated movie, and an adventure movie. I loved the animated one the most because it was so funny and had a great message about friendship. The popcorn at the theater is my favorite, so
buttery and delicious! My stomach always hurts after though from eating too much.
Towards the end of the summer, my family took a trip to the beach for a long weekend. The beach is my absolute happy place.
I love swimming in the ocean and riding the waves. I also love building epic sandcastles and burying my brother in the sand! This time, my dad helped me make the biggest sandcastle ever. We sculpted towers, bridges, molt, everything! It looked like a real medieval castle. Another kid came over and smashed part of it though, which made me so mad. My dad told me not to worry about it though.
At night on the beach, we had a bonfire and made s'mores. S'mores are my favorite beach snack - a toasted marshmallow and chocolate between two graham crackers. So sticky and gooey and

My Summer Vacation Adventures!
Hi friends! I'm so excited to tell you all about my awesome summer vacation. It was the best few months ever with so many fun activities and adventures. I went to camp, visited family, and
even took a trip to another country. Let me start from the beginning!
When school let out in June, I was super pumped for no more classes, homework or waking up early. Finally, I could just relax, play video games all day, and hang out with my buddies. The first couple weeks were really chill. I slept in until noon most days and stayed up way too late watching movies and shows online. My parents didn't really mind at first since I had been working so hard all school year.
After a few weeks though, my mom said I needed to get out of the house and go do something active before my brain turned to mush from too much screen time. She signed me up for a three-week day camp at our local community center. I wasn't thrilled about it at first, but it ended up being a total blast!
The camp had so many amazing activities like sports, arts and crafts, cooking classes, field trips, and more. My favorite parts were the outdoor adventures when we went hiking, canoeing on the lake, and pitched tents to camp overnight in the woods. I felt like a real explorer out in nature! I also really enjoyed the cooking classes where we made things like pizzas, tacos, and cake pops. Now I can actually cook a few dishes for myself at home.
After camp ended, my family went on our annual trip to visit my grandparents who live far away. The drive took forever and I played about a million road trip games to pass the time. We stopped at some pretty cool roadside attractions too like the World's Biggest Twine Ball and Reptile Gardens with huge snakes and alligators. Giving my grandparents big hugs when we arrived was the best feeling ever since I hadn't seen them in over a year.
We spent two weeks at my grandparents' house just hanging out, relaxing, and catching up. My cousins who live nearby came over a lot so we all got to play together every day. We had epic Nerf gun battles in the backyard, played tons of video games, went swimming at the pool, and so much more fun stuff. My grandparents spoiled us with delicious home-cooked meals and treats every day too. I definitely ate wayyyy too many of my grandma's famous chocolate chip cookies!
The absolute highlight of my summer though was when my family took a trip to Mexico for a week. We had never been out of the country before, so it was such an exciting new experience. The flight seemed to take forever, but I watched movies and played games on the plane to pass the time. When we arrived, the warm sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and bright blue
ocean water took my breath away. Our beachfront hotel was like a tropical paradise.
In Mexico, we spent our days relaxing on the golden sand beaches, swimming and playing in the waves, and exploring ancient ruins and jungles. I loved snorkeling and seeing all the vibrant fish and coral up close under the crystal clear water. We also went on a cruise ship one day to spot whales, dolphins, and other marine life. At night, we ate incredible authentic Mexican food like tacos, enchiladas, and the best guacamole ever. There were so many fun activities and excursions to experience the culture too.
After an amazing week in sunny Mexico, it was time to head back home. I was really sad for the trip to end, but so grateful to my parents for taking us on such an awesome overseas adventure. The memories from that vacation will last forever! Once we got home, I only had a couple weeks of summer break left before school started up again.
To finish off my time off, I invited all my best friends over for a huge end-of-summer sleepover bash. We stayed up all night playing video games, watching movies, dancing around like crazy people, and pigging out on junk food. I'm pretty sure we drove my parents crazy with how loud and hyper we were! Even
though I was sad for summer to be over, making those last few weeks really count with my besties was the perfect way to end it on a high note.
Overall, my summer vacation was absolute perfection filled with
so many wonderful adventures, activities, quality family time, and hangouts with friends. I'll never forget the incredible memories I made over those three months off from school. Even though I missed my friends, I'm really glad summer break went by so slow and didn't fly by too quickly. Now that I'm back in class though, you can bet I'll be counting down the days until next summer!

Hi there! Here's an essay written in English, about 2000 words long, on Unit 2 of the Grade 7 English textbook (Hujiang Edition), written from the perspective of an elementary school student:
My Awesome Summer Vacation
Wow, where do I even begin? This summer was just the best ever! I had so much fun and did so many cool things. Let me tell you all about it!
First off, my family and I went on this amazing trip to Yellowstone National Park in the United States. It's this huge park with geysers, hot springs, and all sorts of incredible wildlife like bison, bears, and elk. We stayed in a cute little cabin right inside the park, and every morning we'd wake up to the sounds of birds chirping and little critters scurrying around outside. It was like being in a real-life nature documentary!
One of the highlights was definitely seeing Old Faithful, which is this massive geyser that erupts every hour or so, shooting boiling hot water like a hundred feet into the air! We'd gather around with all the other tourists, counting down until it went off. It was so exciting, like watching a giant natural water show. I even got to feel the heat and mist from the eruption. So cool!
Another day, we went on this long hike to see the Grand Prismatic Spring, which is this enormous hot spring with the most vibrant colors I've ever seen - reds, oranges, yellows, and blues all swirling together. It looked like something straight out of a fantasy world. Our guide told us the colors come from
different types of bacteria that thrive in the super-heated water. Mind-blowing!
Of course, we also saw tons of amazing animals roaming free throughout the park. One morning, a huge bull elk just strolled right past our cabin, its massive antlers towering over us. Another time, we spotted a grizzly bear and her two cubs foraging for food in a meadow. We watched them from a safe distance through our binoculars for what felt like hours. They were just going about their business, completely oblivious to all the humans watching in awe. It really made me appreciate how magnificent nature is.
When we weren't out exploring the park, we'd hang out at our cabin playing games, telling stories around the campfire, and roasting s'mores (you know, those delicious treats with graham crackers, chocolate, and gooey roasted marshmallows). The nights were so peaceful and starry, with only the sounds of crickets and the crackling fire to keep us company. It was the perfect escape from the noise and bustle of the city.
After our outdoorsy adventures in Yellowstone, we drove over to Los Angeles to spend a few days living it up in the big city. Talk about a total shift in scenery! LA was all flashing neon lights, towering skyscrapers, and that infamous traffic that everyone
jokes about. Our hotel was right in the heart of Hollywood, so we got to see all the handprint tiles outside the Chinese Theatre where all the big-name movie stars have left their mark. We even spotted a couple of celebrities walking around, but I won't name names - a true gentleman never tells!
One day, we took a tour around all the iconic film studios like Universal, Warner Brothers, and Paramount. We got to go on the actual sound stages where they film TV shows and movies, and our guide showed us how they use different tricks and special effects to create those awesome action scenes and crazy stunts. Behind the scenes, it doesn't look quite as glamorous, with all the cameras, lights, and crew members running around. But it was still supercool to get a peek into how that movie magic gets made.
We also went wandering down the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame and Sunset Boulevard, and let me tell you, there were some...uh, interestingly dressed characters roaming around looking for attention and photo ops. My little sister thought the guy dressed up like Spider-Man was the real deal and wanted to get his autograph. We had to explain to her that unfortunately, he was just a guy in a costume looking to make a few bucks from unsuspecting tourists. Ah, the magic of Hollywood!
After all that urban excitement, we headed down the coast to San Diego for a more laid-back beach vibe. We spent entire days just lounging on the sand, bodysurfing in the waves, and hunting for unique seashells along the shoreline. The ocean was this incredible shade of turquoise that practically glowed in the California sunshine. And the sunsets over the Pacific were just breathtaking, with the sky fading through oranges, pinks, and deep purples as the sun dipped below the horizon. Absolute postcard-perfect beauty.
In the evenings, we'd wander through the fun beachside neighborhoods, grabbing fish tacos from the local food trucks (they're kind of like a Mexican version of hamburgers, but made with grilled or fried fish instead of beef - and they're downright delicious!). The whole area just had such a cool, relaxed,
surfer-town kind of vibe that made you want to kick off your shoes and stick around a while longer.
All in all, it was pretty much the vacation of a lifetime, packed with awesome adventures in nature, big city thrills, and the perfect blend of action and relaxation. We made so many incredible memories that I'll never forget. In fact, I didn't want to leave! My mom had to practically drag me kicking and screaming back onto the plane to come home. I already can't wait for
summer to roll around again so we can start planning our next epic family getaway. Maybe somewhere international next time?
A kid can dream, right? But for now, it's back to the classroom grind. At least I've got these amazing travel tales to daydream about during those boring math lessons!

My Winter Vacation in the Countryside
Wow, you'll never believe the awesome time I had during my winter vacation this year! I went to stay with my grandparents in their village out in the countryside. At first, I wasn't too excited about it because I thought it would be really boring with nothing fun to do. Boy, was I wrong!
The trip started off on the morning of January 1st. My mom, dad, and little sister Mei Mei all piled into our car along with tons of snacks and supplies for the 5-hour drive. "Are we thereyet? Are we there yet?" Mei Mei wouldn't stop asking from the backseat. She's so annoying sometimes! I just put my headphones on and listened to music the whole way.
When we finally made it to my grandparents' place, they were waiting outside and gave us all huge hugs. Grandma looked so happy to see us. "Ai-ya, you've all grown so much since the
last time I saw you!" she exclaimed as she pinched my cheeks. I acted all embarrassed but it actually felt kind of nice.
Their little farmhouse is so quaint and cozy. It doesn't have all the modern conveniences we have in the city, but that's part of what makes it charming. There's no WiFi, no laptop, no video games - we actually had to keep ourselves entertained! Can you believe that?
The first few days, I'll admit I was pretty bored. But then my grandpa started showing me all the fun things we could do on the farm. He took me out to the fields and taught me how to plant seeds, pull weeds, and even milk the cow! Getting squirted with warm milk was so disgusting but also hilarious. We collected eggs from the chickens every morning for breakfast.
My favorite activity though was defi nitely sledding down the big hill behind their house. With all the snow this winter, the hill was perfect for zooming down at top speed! Mei Mei and I spent hours making runs, having races, and laughing ourselves silly when we wiped out. Who knew being outdoors could be so fun?
In the evenings, the whole family gathered around the wood-burning stove in the main room. Grandma showed me how to hand-make stuffed dumplings from scratch. I was pretty
clumsy at first but she was really patient with me. Once they were boiled up, the dumplings were so delicious - better than any restaurant! Grandpa taught us traditional games with playing cards, coins, and even that cool Chinese checkers board game. Sometimes we just looked out at the starry night sky, sipping hot ginger tea. Believe it or not, I didn't even miss my phone or video games.
The weeks just flew by in the blink of an eye. Before I knew it, it was time to head back home to the city. I felt so sad saying goodbye to my grandparents' little village and all the fun we had there. Grandpa gave me a huge bear hug and said "You're a true country kid at heart - I knew you'd love it out here!" On the car ride back, I gazed out the window at the passing farms, forests and frozen ponds, already counting down the days until my next visit. My winter vacation may be over, but the incredible memories will last forever.

My Wonderful Winter Vacation
Hi there! My name is Xiao Ming and I'm going to tell you all about my super fun winter vacation. It was the best time ever!
It all started on the last day of school before the break. I was so excited, I could barely sit still in class. My best friend Xiao Li and I made big plans to hang out a lot and have awesome adventures. When the final bell rang, we raced out of the classroom cheering "Freedom at last!"
The first week, I just relaxed at home. My mom let me sleep in late and I played videogames all day in my pajamas. Xiao Li came over a few times and we built an epic Lego city in my room. One morning, we tried to make pancakes but got batter everywhere! My mom had to help clean up our sticky mess. Haha!
Then, the real fun began when my grandparents arrived from their hometown. They live far away so I don't see them much. Grandpa told the funniest stories about when he was a kid. He grew up on a farm and had to help with all the chores. Grandma used to have to walk several miles to get to school, even in the cold winter! I can't imagine that.
For the next few days, the whole family went on a trip to a beautiful resort in the mountains. We stayed in an enormous wooden cabin with a fireplace and everything. Outside, the trees were covered in shimmering white snow. It looked like a scene from those magical Christmas movies I love!
The first morning there, Xiao Li and I woke up early feeling like little kids again. We put on all our warm clothes and went outside to play in the fresh powder. We made a whole army of different snowmen and snow animals. Xiao Li's dog Bouncy came too and had a blast running and jumping through the fluffy drifts, barking with joy. I've never seen him so happy!
After an epic snowball fight that got a little too intense (sorry about your glasses, Xiao Li!), we went ice skating on a frozen lake.
I was a little nervous at first because I'm not the best skater. But Xiao Li showed me a few tricks and soon I was gliding along, arms out for balance. We held hands and skated together for a while. The cold air turned our cheeks rosy red. When we needed a break, we drank yummy hot chocolate in the warm cabin.
One night, we all bundled up and sat around a crackling campfire, roasting marshmallows. The fire's glow danced across everyone's faces as we laughed and joked together. Grandpa strummed his old guitar and we sang Disney songs at the top of our lungs under the twinkling stars. I'll never forget that magical night.
Before we knew it, the vacation was over and it was time to head back home. In the car, I gazed out the window at the passing snowy hills and fir trees, feeling happy but a little sad too.
I had made so many wonderful memories with my family. Xiao Li and I promised to have just as much fun when spring break comes around.
Well, that's all for my winter adventures! I'm already counting down the days until the next holiday. Being a student isn't so bad when you get nice long breaks like that. Now it's time to head back to school, but at least I've got Xiao Li to keep me company. Until next time, thanks for reading!

Here's an essay in English for a primary school student's perspective, written in around 2,000 words, based on the second unit of the Shanghai Edition English textbook for Grade 7:
My Favorite Things
Hi! My name is Xiao Ming and I'm in Grade 7. Today, I want to tell you about some of my favorite things. Get ready, because this is going to be a long list!
First up, my favorite food - dumplings! I love dumplings so much. My mom makes the best dumplings in the whole wide world. She puts all kinds of yummy fillings inside, like pork and vegetables. Sometimes she even makes sweet dumplings with
red bean paste or sesame for dessert. Mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about them!
My favorite subject in school is definitely P.E. (Physical Education). I love running around and playing sports. My favorite sport is basketball. I'm quite tall for my age, so I'm really good at shooting hoops. I dream of becoming a professional basketball player one day and playing in the NBA! How cool would that be?
Speaking of dreams, my biggest dream is to travel around the world. There are so many amazing places I want to visit. I'd love to see the pyramids in Egypt, the Eiffel Tower in France, and the Great Wall of China. Imagine all the cool photos I could take and the fun adventures I could have!
Another thing I really enjoy is reading. My favorite book series is Harry Potter. I love the magical world of Hogwarts and all the spells and creatures. Sometimes I wish I could wave a wand and do magic too! I've read all the books at least three times each. My friends and I often have debates about which book or character is the best.
Video games are another huge passion of mine. I have a Nintendo Switch and I play it all the time when I'm not doing homework or other activities. My favorite games are Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. I love the competitive multiplayer
modes where I can battle against my friends online. We trash talk each other a lot, but it's all in good fun.
Finally, my favorite animal has to be dogs. They're just so cute, friendly, and loyal. I really want to get a puppy, but my parents say I have to wait until I'm a bit older. I've been doing lots of research on different breeds to decide which one I want. A golden retriever would be amazing, but huskies are super cool too. No matter which breed I get, I'm going to give it so many cuddles and treats!
Phew, that was a long list of my favorite things! As you can see, I'm a kid with lots of interests and passions. From sports to books to video games, I love trying new activities and learning about the world around me. Maybe I'll share some other favorites with you next time. Thanks for reading!。
