17. Miss Zhang is one of my most favorite teachers. She has a slim build and always ties his hair in a ponytail. She is 35, but she looks quite young at her age. Which impresses me most is Miss Zhang's way of teaching. She devotes herself to teach and prepares well for every class. Not only did she help us to understand “what",but she explores “why". She encourages us to think independent and have discussions among ourselves when we faced with problems. She is such a inspiring person with a strong sense of responsibilities, and we all respect and admire her.

responsibility
此处inspiring是以元音音素开头,用an表示“一”,故把a- an。
18. One day on my luxury(奢侈的)holiday cost 30 yuan. Bus ticket: 2 yuan. Breakfast, lunch and dinner: 5 yuan. Hotel: 20 yuan. OK, so it was a 10-seater bus with only four seats that weren’t broken and 20 other people on it. OK, all my food came from one steamed bun (包子) stand at the side of the road, and the “hotel” was a hostel (青年旅社), and I shared a room with four strangers. But the steamed buns I bought were so delicious and the bed in the hostel was soft and comfortable and I had the best night’s sleep I’d had in years.
Cheap travel is “in”. It’s on reality shows, and it’s all around us. People who once went to five-star scenic spots are suddenly filling youth hostels and campsites, showing off to their friends about their 24-hour trip in the third-class sleeper train across Mongolia.
Now, I’m not a millionaire who can afford more than a budget holiday. But even if I could, I don’t think I’d spend the money.
Budget travel is addictive
). It’s partly the challenge of squeezing the most out of your
pennies – and it can get a bit ridiculous(荒唐可笑的). My stomach wasn’t too impressed with the meat stir-fry I bought from a stand simply because it was 1 yuan, for example.
But it’s easy to travel in a smart way, too. With the Internet, you can always check out r eviews and find hostels, food and things to do, recommended by other budget travelers who’ve been there before. You don’t have to suffer, and it means you can afford to spend more nights on holiday, see more things and have more experiences.
24. The author mentions her budget travel story at the beginning to ______.
A. show what budget trips are generally like
B. introduce the best trip she’s had over the years
C. show how difficult it can be to spend as little money as possible
D. display her ability to spend her money cleverly
25. The underlined word “in” in the second paragraph probably means ______.
A. forgotten
B. popular
C. overlooked
D. tough
26. What’s the author’s suggestion to budget travelers?
A. Share your travel budget with rich friends.
B. Only eat at street stands and live in hostels.
C. Organize budget trips with people you have traveled together with before.
D. Read other budget travelers’ tips online.
24.A
25.B
26.D
所以选A。
Cheap travel is “in”. It’s on reality shows, and it’s all around us.
根据文中recommended by other budget travelers who’ve been there before.
19. Parents are a child’s first teachers. But some parents never learned from good examples. In New York City, a nonprofit agency called Covenant House tries to help homeless young mothers become good parents.
The twelve or so teenagers who live at the shelter attend parenting classes four days a week. The class is called Mommy and Me. Teacher Delores Clemens is a mother of five and a grandmother. She teaches basic skills, like how to give a baby a bath and how to dress a baby depending on the season. She remembers one student who learned from her mother not to pick up a crying baby. The mother said that would only make the child needy and overly demanding. Delores Clemens says, “that's not true. You have to hold your baby! He is crying for a reason. If you never pick him up, he's going to keep crying. Pick your baby up. Cuddle your baby. Hug him! And she started to do that. They just want a little cuddling and a little love. And it works!”
Delores Clemens says her students also learn how to be good mothers by letting themselves be mothered. Around three hundred fifty teenage mothers graduate from Covenant House's Mommy and Me class every year.
In class, with her baby son is Natasha. She lived on the streets. She is glad not only for the warmth and shelter of Covenant House. As she told reporter Adam Phillips, she is also glad for the help they offer in seeking a more secure life.
The World Health Organization says the United States has forty-one births for every one thousand girls age fifteen to nineteen. That is higher than other developed countries, as well as some developing ones. By comparison, northern neighbor Canada has fourteen births and southern neighbor Mexico has eighty-two.
