One day a young man named Bill came to her door. He was very thin. He was very hungry and asked the old woman for help.
The old woman said, “Come in and have dinner wit h me, but my dinner is only some potatoes.”
They had dinner together. After dinner the old woman told Bill to take some potatoes with him. He thanked her and then left.
Ten years later, Bill came back to the old woman’s door again and gave her a ba g of money. She was surprised. Bill said, “Ten years ago you gave me some potatoes. I grew some potato plants. From those plants, I grew some more plants. Now I’m a rich farmer. But I never forget how kind you were to me.” (B A C B C)
(3)Questions (11-15)
An elephant can’t see anything clearly, if it is not close to him. So man can get near when he wants to catch the elephants. There are two kinds of elephants in the world—the elephants in India and the elephants in Africa. They have different ears and teeth. The elephants in India are easily caught, but the elephants in Africa aren’t. People can easily teach the elephants in India to work after they catch them. So you can often see elephants work for people in India. Those elephants can also quickly l earn to know man’s voice. They even know whether the man is pleased or angry by his voice. (B A C C B)。
