bookreportonNotreDamedeParis巴黎圣母院英文读后感第一篇:book report on Notre Dame de Paris 巴黎圣母院英文读后感READING AND WRITING 2 HARRIS BOOK REPORT 3 15, MAY. 2013INSIDEJust as the author, Victor Hugo, a great writer who underwent almost all the major incidents of nineteen century in France, predicted, Notre Dame de Paris was perfectly knit together by realism and romanticism. And this grand building tolerated all of this, no matter the beauty or the evil, standing by the Seine quietly over the six hundred years, and shared the timeless story with us. Actually the criterion to judging what exactly beauty is and what exactly evil is has already lied in the bottom of readers …hearts. The strong contrast between beauty and evil impressed me most in this book. Mr.Hugo almost searched his whole mind for all negative words to describe Quasimodo, a bellman with a geometry of the face, a tetrahedral nose, and jagged teeth, who also broke through himself and finally killed his adoptive father, Floro, by pushing him down from the roof of Notre Dame de Paris. While, Mr.Hugo also gave birth to another totally different character, Floro, as I mentioned above, who was the representative of religious evil forces and a victim of religious asceticism. He never gave up any chance to meet his requirements, but the asceticism twisted his soul so much that he could not feel any happiness in his entire life. And there was a character we could not miss, Esmeralda, who was a beautiful and kind-hearted gypsy girl, by which the witter expressed his pursuitof true and charges against evil forces of the church. She died in the scaffold with a loud laugh, but also she became an immortal emblem of beauty and kindness, which would never fade out, even after thousands of years. Mr.Hugo was dedicated to portray the whole picture in his mind with this book, but, thanks to him, we still got the great opportunities to review our judgment deeply.Since the flooding of freedom of thought approached, people living in twenty-first century almost spare every effort to pursuing their ideal beauty, which sometimes drives them to lose their balance of what matters most in essence, the interior or the exterior. As we all know, a Chinese movie actress, L, spent more than one million dollars on her wedding ceremony, while which was exactly Bill Gates, the richest man in the world, once spent on a charity party, aiming to build clinics in the south of Africa to help the natives to live a better life. I am not sure whether she will be happier if she spend the money in helping the children who may be suffering from Malaria or other epidemics in Africa. But what is worse, it was not just an individual case but a fashion trend of people living in modern society to buy beauty and to cover the darkness in their hearts with it. According to a survey done by China Daily, since the Reform and Open policy was put into practice, people have spent more and more money in purchasing all sorts of commodities expect for books. They care so mush about their appearances, their figures, and the labels on their garment that they have to kill their time and money on their internal which should be spent as mush as, even more than it on external. But unfortunately, the reality is that one can never stay pretty as much as she is twenty years old. No matter how beautiful she is, she has to grow old and lose her flawless skinand black hair. What can exist for her entire life and really matter is a kind and warm heart, which will never fade out and be admired by aftertime.Mr.Hugo once said, “Life is a flower; love is nectar.” It is not whether the flower is beautiful but whether it can produce nectar that really matters. In much the same way of our life, it is our hearts instead of our appearances that matter. The ability to love, to cherish, and to share is the most important thing that should be valued in our society. And if we do value these in our daily life, we will be valued. Imagine that we are facing a group of children with some rags on, who are suffering from the cold winter, but still working very hard in a small and dark class room; imagine that some businessmen grow vegetables and trade them for surger to put it into their tea for their guests to make them proud or for a lock to the door to make them feel safe when down. It is hard to believe that we will feel nothing about this. The poor has the same right to pursue happiness because everybody is gave birth to the world with the bless of God. And they work so hard to make their life easier and happier. So try to feel and try to share. Sometimes only when participating in their life, we can figure out what we really care about and decide what we want to be. No matter who we are, the poor or the rich, we should get involved. The ability to love is always there, waiting for us to get it. It is never too late to get repacked and start our journey.Actually it is easy to tell what beauty is because the criterion lies in people …s hearts. Everyone is just like a piece of whi te paper at the beginning of his life, and then he draw many different pictures with all kinds of colors or sometimes be painted by their parents, friends and even strangers. But finally what he need to do is erase all of these and review himself as a human being. Ourminds have led us to go so far in the way to future. And we need to go on.第二篇:巴黎圣母院英文读后感About the Notre Dame cathedral 《 Notre Dame cathedral》is one known far and wide romantic faction strength which Victor Hugo writes . Whatever the book described him ugly,it can’t stop my love of t his role. It seems that if someone is a little good to him, he will return you more and more and take you as his god. However, people is so mean to such a little bit. So we are also very easy to understand why Asmelada just gave him some water, he can move to tears. I think he told me the meaning of true. In that time, she forgot other identities, only remember that she is just a mother. By reading this book, I thought my life carefully. A person'sappearance does not mean anything, the key is what he has and wheather he has a good soul.第三篇:巴黎圣母院英文读后感Notre Dame CathedralNotre Dame Cathedral is a world famous masterpiece. In my eyes, the high reputation of it probably because the protagonist, Quasimodo. A badly ugly bell-ringer, growing up in a church, following Dom Claude Rollo the Archdeacon completely submit the Archdeacon. At the beginning, I thought Quasimodo didn’t have the sense of right and wrong. There was a period of time when my aversion to Quasimodo was increasing rapidly. However, I gradually find that he is so much innocent and pure. At the last part of the opus, Quasimodo unexpectedly found that the Archdeacon he following also fall into deep love with the gipsy-girl. To avoid others getting the girl, the Archdeacon attempted to kill the knight but didn’t succeed. The Archdeacon thought it should be destroyed if he can’t own himself. Finally, the Archdeacon cruelly killed the charming girl. Meanwhile, Quasimodo pushed the Archdeacon into abyss. What moved me most is the last few of paragraphs. When people found the corpse of the girl, they discovered another one, a malformed man corpse. He held the girl so tightly that he turned into powder when they were separated.A incarnation of justice, Rollo Archdeacon is actually the evil backstage manipulator. A beautiful but humble girl, La Esmeralda is actually so brave to love , to hate. An ugly monster, Quasimodo, changed from submitting to independently judge right or wrong. All he ever loved are died. His heart is so fervent that he is wiling to company with the girl’s corpse even if reduced to ashes. As the saying goes that ,don’t judge a person from his appearance. Good and evil can never be distinguished by one’s surface. When confronted with the seamy side of pretty things, everyone’s heart would be struck. However, sometimes these things truly happen in our daily life. Life isn’t so bad as we thought and it also isn’t so good as we thought. Face the imperfect society and be true to yourself. These are my personal notions. Thanks for your review.第四篇:巴黎圣母院英文读后感About the Notre Dame cathedral《Notre Dame cathedral》is one known far and wide romantic faction strength which Victor Hugo writes . 《巴黎圣母院》英文读后感
《巴黎圣母院》英文读后感Notre-Dame de Paris, or the Notre-Dame Cathedral, is an international Gothic icon that has captured the imagination of millions of people around the world. As a reader, I was thrilled to delve into the book that brought it to life, Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame."This novel is more than just a tale of love and sacrifice, it is a commentary on society and the human condition. Hugo skillfully weaves together the stories of Notre-Dame's diverse cast of characters to create a hauntingly beautiful picture of life in medieval Paris. One of the most memorable characters is Esmeralda, a beautiful Romani dancer who becomes the object of affection for both the handsome Captain Phoebus and the deformed and misunderstood Quasimodo. As a reader, I was particularly captivated by Quasimodo's character. Despite his physical deformities, he is a gentle, kind-hearted soul who is a victim of society's cruelty. He is treated with disdain and often ridiculed because of his appearance, but he is also fiercely loyal to Notre-Dame and its inhabitants. He is a testament to the fact that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and that true beauty comes from within. However, the real star of the novel is the Notre-Dame Cathedral itself. The cathedral is a beautiful and imposing presence throughout the book, and the way that Hugo describes it is nothing short of magical. As a reader, I was able to visualize every detail of the cathedral, from the beautiful stained-glass windows to the soaring arches and intricate stonework. The cathedral is atestament to human ingenuity and creativity, and reflects how a love for something can create something beautiful.Overall, "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" is a masterpiece of literature. It reminds us of the importance of empathy and compassion, and the beauty that can be found in unexpected places. The tragic ending is a stark reminder of the fragile nature of life and how fleeting our moments of happiness can be. It is a book that will stay with me for a long time, and one that I would recommend to anyone who wants to experience the magic of Notre-Dame de Paris.。

After reading "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" by Victor Hugo, I was left with a deep appreciation for the beauty and history of the Notre-Dame cathedral. Throughout the novel, Hugo expertly weaves together a complex web of characters, conflicts, and themes that all center around the magnificent structure. One of the most striking aspects of the novel for me was the incredible attention to detail that Hugo paid to the physical attributes of the Notre-Dame cathedral. From the intricate carvings on the walls and columns to the soaring heights of the iconic bell towers, Hugo's descriptions brought the structure to life in a way that made me feel as though I was actually standing inside the cathedral myself. At the heart of the novel is the tragic story of Quasimodo, the hunchbacked bell-ringer who calls the faithful to prayer from the towers of Notre-Dame. Despite his grotesque appearance and the mistreatment he receives at the hands of the Parisian crowds, Quasimodo maintains a deep love and devotion for the cathedral that he calls home. His character is a powerful reminder of the enduring power and importance of faith, and his struggles serve as a poignant commentary on the cruelty of human societies. Another theme that resonated with me is the way in which Hugo uses the cathedral as a symbol of Parisian history and culture. Throughout the novel, he emphasizes the deep connection between the people of Paris and their cathedral, as well as the way in which the structure has been shaped by the various historical and cultural forces that have shaped the city over the centuries. For me, thisserved as a reminder of the importance of preserving historical landmarks and cultural artifacts as a means of maintaining our connection to the past and understanding our place in the world.Overall, "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" is a beautiful and masterful novel that does justice to the magnificence of the Notre-Dame cathedral. Through Hugo's vivid descriptions and complex storytelling, readers are able to gain a deeper appreciation for the beauty and history of this iconic structure. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in history, art, or literature, as I believe it has something to offer to all of us.In addition to its physical beauty, the Notre-Dame cathedral has been and continues to be an important focal point of French culture and identity. The cathedral has survived centuries of war, revolution, and natural disasters, and has remained a source of inspiration and pride for the French people. The fire that devastated the cathedral in 2019 was a devastating blow to the people of Paris and to anyone who understands the importance of cultural heritage. The world watched in horror as the spire collapsed and flames engulfed the iconic structure. However, the fire also galvanized a global effort to restore the cathedral and preserve its legacy for future generations. The restoration effort has been monumental in scale, involving experts from around the world and drawing on centuries-old techniques and materials. The process has also sparked debates about the appropriate way to restore and preserve historical landmarks, and has highlighted the importance of investing in cultural heritage. The Notre-Dame cathedral serves as a symbol not only of French culture, but also of the wider human experience. It reminds us of the power of beauty and the resilience of the human spirit, even in the face of tragedy and devastation. It calls on us to honor our past while looking towards the future, and to protect and preserve the cultural heritage that connects us to one another and to our history. In conclusion, Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" is an enduring tribute to the beauty and cultural importance of the Notre-Dame cathedral. The novel serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring power of faith, the cruelty of human societies, and the importance of preserving cultural heritage. The fire that devastated the cathedral in 2019 was a tragic reminder of the fragility of our history, but it also sparked a renewed effort to restore and preserve this iconic structure for generations to come.。
《巴黎圣母院》英文读后感
《巴黎圣母院》英文读后感I recently read the classic novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Victor Hugo, which centers around the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The novel offers a captivating glimpse into the past and present of this magnificent building.Set in the 15th century, the novel follows the story of a hunchback named Quasimodo, who is taken in by the archdeacon of Notre Dame, Claude Frollo. Despite his physical deformities, Quasimodo possesses a kind heart and serves as the bell-ringer of the cathedral. The novel explores themes of love, loyalty, and betrayal as Quasimodo falls in love with a beautiful gypsy girl named Esmeralda, who is pursued by Frollo. What struck me most about the book was Hugo's vivid descriptions of the cathedral. It is clear that he had a deep reverence for the building and its history, and he masterfully weaved its beauty and complexity into the story. I felt as though I was transported back in time, walking alongside Quasimodo as he climbed the steps of the cathedral's towers and gazed out over the bustling city of Paris. However, the novel also highlights the fragility of Notre Dame. Throughout the story, the cathedral is threatened by natural disasters and human conflict, and it becomes clear that nothing is eternal. As someone who has had the privilege of visiting Notre Dame, I found myself feeling a sense of sadness as I read about the destruction of parts of the building in the novel. It is a reminder that even the most beautiful and iconic buildings are not invincible.Overall, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is a captivating novelthat offers a glimpse into the beauty and fragility of one of the world's most iconic buildings. It left me with a greater appreciation for Notre Dame's history and significance, and an appreciation for its importance as a cultural and historical landmark.。

The brilliance of Hugo’s storytelling abilities truly shine through in this work and make it a timeless classic. The story takes place in Paris during the mid-15th century, with Quasimodo, the hunchback of Notre Dame as the main protagonist. His tragic story is one of helplessness and abandonment, yet he still retains a strong faith and conviction in God. The sense of hope and perseverance that Quasimodo demonstrates is truly inspiring and his innocence helps to reveal the human side of all of the characters in the book. While I am certainly familiar with some of the characters from Disney’s adaptation of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, I found that none of them compared to the complexity and depth of the characters in Hugo’s work. The villainous Frollo, the compassionate Esmeralda, and the courageous Phoebus are all developed in such depth, allowing me to understand why their decisions and actions impacted the story the way they did.I have the greatest respect for Victor Hugo and his masterful writing. Throughout “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, Hugo manages to weave together themes of love, justice, redemption, and hope in a way that can be appreciated by everyone who reads it. Through his characters’ struggles and triumphs, Hugo is able to portr ay how God’s grace and mercy can empower us to overcomeany adversity in life.I recommend “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” to anyone who wants to experience a masterpiece of literature. With its beautiful and detailed descriptions of the city of Paris and its compelling characters, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is a timeless classic that will continue to capture the imagination of readers for years to come.。

Perhaps is sinister Coloud, he is appears by the theocracy face, all load bearing one kind ofauthor’s ponder. In this story,I like Cacimodo best. Whatever the book described him ugly,it can’t stop my love of this role. It seems that if someone is a little good to him, he will return you more and more and take you as his god. However, people is so mean to such a little bit. So we are also very easy to understand why Asmelada just gave him some water, he can move to tears.I think he told me the meaning of true. He can bury his owndeep love of Asmelada, he knew that he was not good with her, he just hoped he could have quietly by her side to protect her . He coulddo everything for her. In order to not let Asmelada sad , he didn’t told her that Phoebus has already married though shemaybe blame him. In order to her, he try his best to stop beggars broke into Notre Dame. He is a real man!The book touched me the most is that the nun protectAsmelada in the room. She is a wonderful mother because she protected her daughter in the last minute. In that time, she forgot other identities, only remember that she is just a mother.By reading this book, I thought my life carefully. A persons appearance does not mean anything, the key is what he has and wheather he has a good soul.。

《巴黎圣母院》英文读后感
《巴黎圣母院》英文读后感After reading Victor Hugo's masterpiece "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame", I was left in awe of the rich history and atmospheric setting of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. The novel is set in the late 15th century and follows the story of Quasimodo, a deformed hunchback who lives in the cathedral's bell tower. Throughout the many twists and turns of the tale, Hugo lovingly describes the cathedral's architecture, its details, and its emotional significance to Paris and beyond. One of the most striking aspects of "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" is the way that Hugo brings the cathedral to life. It's as if the place itself is a character, with its own personality, moods, and history. From the gargoyles and chimeras that adorn the roofline to the intricate stained-glass windows that filter light into the nave, every detail of the architecture is lovingly described. In fact, Hugo goes so far as to personify the cathedral itself at times, describing it as "a vast symphony in stone, full of light and shade" and a "gigantic instrument, whose countless pipes give forth no uncertain sound." Through these vivid descriptions, the reader gets a sense of the awe-inspiring majesty of Notre-Dame, and of its profound impact on the people who come to worship and marvel there. Another important theme in the novel is the role of the cathedral in the life of the city of Paris. Throughout its long history, Notre-Dame has witnessed many of the significant events and upheavals that have shaped the course of French history. From the coronations of kings to the liberation of Paris from Nazi occupation, the cathedral has been a central gathering place and symbol of national identity. Hugo emphasizes this point by settingmuch of the novel's action within the cathedral itself, showing how it has been a witness to the struggles and triumphs of the people of Paris.Of course, no discussion of "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" would be complete without mentioning the character of Quasimodo himself. Although he is initially presented as a grotesque figure, Quasimodo is also imbued with a sense of grace and dignity, and eventually becomes a tragic hero of sorts. Through his eyes, the reader sees the cathedral and the city of Paris as a place of refuge and sanctuary, where people from all walks of life can come to seek solace, inspiration, and connection to something larger than themselves. In this sense, Quasimodo is more than just a character—he represents the soul of Notre-Dame itself. In conclusion, "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" is a powerful testament to the enduring significance of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Through its vivid descriptions, fascinating characters, and rich historical context, Victor Hugo's novel brings the cathedral to life in all its splendor and complexity. As we mourn the recent fire that has damaged this iconic building, it is worth remembering the profound impact that this place has had on the cultural and spiritual fabric of France and the world at large. May Notre-Dame continue to inspire and awe all who come to visit.。

When he was 15 years old, the joy of learning written by him won the French Academy Award degree. At the age of 20, he published books of poetry, Songs and Carols. In 1827, Victor Hugo published the script Cromwell. Although the script failed to perform, but it was considered as a landmark document into literary history and had an effect on French romanticism preamble. 1830, Hugo’s script Hernani was put on in Grand Theater. From then on, romantic established a dominant position in French literary circles. In July 1830, France had "July Revolution". Hugo warmly praised the revolution and wrote poems mourning those who died in the revolution. In 1831 Victor Hugo wrote Notre-Dame de Paris, one of the most romantic novels. However, Hugo became a republican. And then he suffered persecution and lived abroad. During this period of time, he wrote les Contemplations, les Miserables and L’Homme qui Rit. It was not until 1870 that Victor Hugo went back to Paris. In 1885, he died in Paris. In order to memorize him, he was laid to rest in le Pantheon.Though he is regarded in France as one of that country’s greatest poets, he is famous for such novels as Notre-Dame de Paris (1831) and Les Miserables (1862). He is the leader of 19th century romantic literature movement, a representative of humanitarian and is also called as “Shakespeare of France”.3,The main content of this book:《Notre-Dame de Paris》was written in 1831. The story beginsduring the Renaissance in 1482, the day of the Festival of Fools in Paris. All the people were immerged in the celebration of April Fools day. Esmeralda, a beautiful 16-year-old gypsy with a kind and generous heart, captured the hearts of many men but especially Quasimodo’s adopted father, Dom Claude Frollo the archdeacon. Frollo is torn between his lust and the rules of the church. At last, he couldn’t resist his lust, so he ordered Quasimodo to get her. However, Esmeralda was rescued by Phoebus de Chateaupers who was a captain of the archers of the King’s troop. And Quasimodo was caught and whipped and ordered to be tied down in the heat. When Esmeralda knew he was thirsty, she offered him water without hesitance, which in turn made Quasimodo fall in love with her. While Esmeralda had fallen in love with Phoebus since he rescued her, which made Frollo feel very angry. So he stabbed Phoebus at one of the appointments of them. Consequently Esmeralda was accused of the murder and was sentenced to be hanged. It was Quasimodo who saved her by bringing her to the cathedral under the law of sanctuary. Frollo rallied the truands to charge the cathedral. The King, seeing the riot, vetoed the law of sanctuary and commanded his troops to take Esmeralda out and kill her. When Quasimodo saw the truands, he assumed they were to hurt Esmeralda, so he tried his best to drive them off. However, Frollo handed her out to the troops and watched happily while she was hanged. When Quasimodo recognized what his adopted father had done, he was furious and pushed him down from Notre Dame de Paris. He then disappeared. It was almost 2 years later, people found his skeletons clasp Esme ralda’s tightly.4, Personal comments:This novel gives us a very clear comparison of beauty and ugliness. The main characters leave a deep impression on readers.Esmeralda was beautiful, not only because she had a petty appearance but also because she had a very kind heart and a pure view on love. When Gringoire was sentence to be hanged for coming into the Court of Miracles by a mistake, it is Esmeralda who rescued him bymarring to him in law. However, when Gringoire fell in love with her and wanted to become her real husband, she rejected him and said what she could love was a man who was able to protect her firmly. When Quasimodo who did harm to her and was ordered to be tied down in the heat, was thirty, Esmeralda gave him water without hesitance. When Frollo took every despicable measure to make Esmeralda satisfy his lust, she rejected firmly in condition of losing her life. She had already devoted herself to Phoebus; no matter he loved her truly or not. What she believed is that once she loved, she would be devotedly attached to his lover in regardless of the result.Quasimodo was beautiful, although he had a severely ugly appearance, physically deformed with a hunchback, a huge wart covered his right eye, a limp and deaf, yet his inner world was pure. He owned the characteristic of gratef ulness, kindness and justice. He knew love didn’t means occupying but offering and sacrifice. He knew that he was too ugly to captures the girl’s heart. So he was silently in love with Esmeralda. His love was so deep and pure, and he was only offering without asking for return. When he recognized his foster-father was the man who led to the death of Esmeralda, he pushed down from Notre Dame de Paris. And he, himself went to the tomb of Esmeralda, clasping her dead body tightly, and dead. Quasimodo, a representative of beauty of humanity and love, motivate readers deeply.Phoebus was ugly. Although he had a handsome appearance, high social state and money, his inner word was full of lust and he was vain and shameless that he was always ready to speak foul words, proud to be a womanizer. Although he had already been engaged with Fleur-de-Lys, he flirted with Esmeralda. He was a hypocrite. What he cared most were only his social state, his power and himself. Of course he should have stood out to prove Esmerald a’s innocent, however, he didn’t do it for fear of his fame and future. How obscene he was!How about Frollo? He was a pretentious man under the shelter of religion. He was actually an evil. We cannot deny that he loved Esmeralda, but his love was just to have the girl all to himself and to satisfy his lust unscrupulously. He loved with madness, infatuation, agony. In order to get Esmeralda, Frollo took every despicable measure even using a threat of the girl’s life. He is severely terrible and obscene. Under the shelter of religion, what we can see is an unsettled soul filled with lust and craze. We cannot deny that Frollo loved Esmeralda even if let him give up his faith in GOD in his whole life. However, his dark inner world made this love too crazy and terrible. If he could not get what he wanted, he would destroy it immediately. This novel implies that true love does not just mean occupying but giving. In some degree, love is more of sacrifice.Perhaps the entire story is rich in tragic color. And the plot intense is moving and exciting. This novel implies that the lower-level people's weak strength under the King’s power only can be reduced to ashes. Region is just a lie to people. It is the tool of the Kingdom not the heaven of the poor.In summary, the comparison of beauty and ugliness in this novel has a great effect on readers from generation to generation!5 Beautiful sentences宽宏⼤量,是唯⼀能够照亮伟⼤灵魂的光芒。

英文名著巴黎圣母院读后感1Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dick ens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most importantinformation implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.英文名著巴黎圣母院读后感2《Notre Dame cathedral》is one known far and wide romantic faction strength which Victor Hugo writes . 《巴黎圣母院》英语读后感
Reflection on"The Hunchback of Notre-Dame""The Hunchback of Notre-Dame,"written by Victor Hugo and published in1831,is a profound and tragic novel that explores themes of love, fate, and social injustice.Set in15th-century Paris, the novel revolves around the lives of several vividly drawn characters, including the deformed bell-ringer Quasimodo, the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda, and the conflicted archdeacon Claude Frollo.Through their intertwined fates,Hugo paints a poignant picture of the human condition and the societal structures that shape it.Having read"The Hunchback of Notre-Dame,"I am deeply moved by its emotional depth, complex characters, and timeless themes. One of the most compelling aspects of the novel is the character of Quasimodo.Despite his physical deformity and social ostracism, Quasimodo possesses a heart full of love and loyalty. His devotion to Esmeralda, who shows him kindness despite his appearance, highlights the novel's exploration of inner beauty versus outer appearance. Quasimodo's tragic fate serves as a powerful commentary on the cruelty and prejudice faced by those who are different. His character evokes both sympathy and admiration, reminding readers of the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, regardless of their physical attributes.Esmeralda, the novel's heroine, symbolizes innocence and purity. Her beauty and kindness make her a target of desire and envy, leading to her ultimate downfall.Esmeralda's tragic story underscores the vulnerability of women in a patriarchal society and the dangers they face due to their beauty and independence. Her unwavering compassion, even in the face of betrayal and persecution, highlights the novel's theme of the redemptive power of love.Esmeralda's character challenges readers to consider the impact of societal norms and prejudices on the lives of individuals.Claude Frollo, the archdeacon of Notre-Dame,embodies the conflict between duty and desire.Frollo's internal struggle between his religious vows and his obsessive love for Esmeralda drives much of the novel's tension. His descent into madness and his ultimate downfall serve as a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked desire and the moral complexities of human nature.Frollo's character raises importantquestions about the nature of sin, guilt, and redemption, and the consequences of allowing one's darker impulses to take control. The novel also provides a rich and detailed portrayal of medieval Paris, with the Notre-Dame Cathedral serving as a central symbol. The cathedral represents both the grandeur and the complexity of human civilization. Its towering presence and intricate architecture reflect the beauty and ingenuity of human creation, while its dark corners and hidden chambers symbolize the secrets and sins that lie beneath the surface.Hugo's vivid descriptions of the cathedral and the city bring the setting to life, immersing readers in the world of15th-century Paris.Victor Hugo's writing style is characterized by its eloquence, depth, and emotional intensity. His ability to convey the inner lives of his characters and the broader social and historical context in which they live adds layers of meaning to the narrative. The novel's exploration of themes such as fate, justice, and the human capacity for both good and evil resonates with readers on a profound level.Hugo's masterful storytelling invites readers to reflect on the complexities of the human experience and the societal structures that shape it.In conclusion,"The Hunchback of Notre-Dame"is a timeless literary masterpiece that continues to captivate readers with its rich character development, emotional depth, and exploration of universal themes. Victor Hugo's portrayal of Quasimodo,Esmeralda, and Claude Frollo, along with his vivid depiction of medieval Paris, creates a powerful and enduring narrative.Reading"The Hunchback of Notre-Dame"has left me with a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of compassion and understanding in the face of social injustice.Whether you are revisiting the novel or discovering it for the first time,"The Hunchback of Notre-Dame"is a work of literature that will leave a lasting impression.。
《巴黎圣母院》英语读后感
《巴黎圣母院》英语读后感The Notre-Dame Cathedral - A Tale of Time, Tragedy, and TriumphThe first time I saw a picture of the Notre-Dame Cathedral, I was struck by the grandeur and majesty of this iconic structure. I had always heard of it in books and seen it in movies, but the real-life image of it took my breath away. Reading about it felt like entering into a time machine, and taking a trip through the rich and vibrant history of Paris. It's hard to imagine any other building that captures the essence of a city like the Notre-Dame.But, on April 15th, 2019, a catastrophic fire broke out that engulfed the entire cathedral, causing irreparable damage. Watching the flames destroy the roof and the iconic spire was heart-wrenching. The world watched in disbelief, as one of the most famous and majestic structures of our times was being reduced to ashes. However, instead of giving up or losing hope, the incident brought the world together. People from around the globe united to support the rebuilding of the cathedral. The catastrophe reminded us all that what makes the Notre-Dame Cathedral so special is not just the grandeur of its architecture or the relics stored inside it, but it is about the sentiment and emotions it holds within it. The Notre-Dame Cathedral is an embodiment of human history, culture, and art, and it is our responsibility to preserve it for generations to come.It is hard to express in words the emotions I felt while readingabout the fire and its aftermath. It is the tool of the Kingdom not the heaven of the poor.In summary, the comparison of beauty and ugliness in this novel has a great effect on readers from generation to generation!5 Beautiful sentences宽宏大量,是唯一能够照亮伟大灵魂的光芒。
