一、教学目标

1. To be able to identify the subject clause by comparison, analysis and summary;

2. To be fully aware of the rules of how to choose a proper introductive word and be able to use the rules correctly by discussion and practice;

3. To be able to write subject clauses in writing by practice..

二、学情分析

高一甲6班是普通班,农村学生多。他们学习热情高,看重语法知识的学习。在一定水准上将英语学习等同为语法的学习。本节课以他们看重的语法的基础部分—名词为切入点,通过阐述名词在句子中担当的成份进而引出主语从句。教学过程中通过对主语从句的定义、引导词以及形式主语句型的总结,有意简化语法在学生想象中的复杂与抽象。

三、重点难点

1 How to understand and use noun clauses as the subject.

2. How to choose the right introductive words in subject clauses.

2 How to apply subject clauses to writing composition to improve our writing skills.

3 How to combine individual thought with group wisdom.

活动1【导入】Stage 1 Lead in

The students listen to the tape of HOW LIFE BEGAN ON THE EARTH, coming to recognize some subject clauses.

What it was to become was uncertain;

The earth became so violent that it was not clear whether the shape would last or not;

What is even more important is that as the earth cooled down, water began to appear on its surface; It was not immediately obvious that water was to be fundamental to the development of life;

what many scientists believe is that the continued presence of water allowed the earth to dissolve harmful gases and acids into the oceans and seas

活动2【讲授】Stage2 Grammar Focus

Step1 Definition(定义):作主语用的名词性从句,因其在复合句中作主语,称为主语从句。What it was to become was uncertain.

Activity 1 Read and Find

1. What it was to become was uncertain;

2. The earth became so violent that it was not clear whether the shape would last or not;

3. What is even more important is that as the earth cooled down, water began to appear on its surface;

1连接词that引导的同位语从句

Step3 The subject clause and “it”.

Five sentence patterns of the subject clause and “it”.

1) It + be +名词词组+主语从句(常用于这种句型的名词有a pity, a shame, a wonder, no wonder等)

2) It + be +形容词+主语从句

3) It + be +过去分词+主语从句

4) It +不及物动词+主语从句(不及物动词有happen, seem, appear, occur等.)

5) It +及物动词+宾语+主语从句

注:1) 与2)为主系表结构;3),4)与5)为主谓结构
