ADay 1 ArrivalUpon arrival in Kunming, your Kunming tour guide will wait for you at the airport and help you to transfer to the hotel.Day 2 KunmingDay 3 Kunming →Dali (by air)21. What might the tourists be doing at 11:00 on the second day?A. Preparing for lunch.B. Relaxing in the hotel.C. Going to the Stone Forest.D. Visiting the Flower and Bird Market.22. What are the tourists recommended to do for evening activities in Kunming?A. To watch Dynamic Yunnan.B. To enjoy the local food.C. To buy handmade crafts.D. To wander about in the city.23. Why are tourists recommended to hike to the top while visiting Dali?A. Because it takes little effort to hike to the top.B. Because they can get full view of the old town.C. Because it is the only site to enjoy the scenery.D. Because they can take pictures of the three pagodas.BWhen I was about 5 years old, I experienced my very first random act of kindness. I was sitting at the roadside one evening, crying alone for some reason when suddenly, a boy came up to me and gave me a plastic rose, I remember the moment when I took the rose from his hand; I was smiling from ear to ear, whispering “I want to be like him” to myself as I watched him walking away. From then on, I made it as my life mission to do random acts of kindness whenever I can. I was very determined to make other people smile. That was the only reason why I joined myschool’s Red Crescent Society and became a volunteer. Unfortunately, not everyone thinks in the same way as I did. Whenever I do something nice to others, people around me will start to judge my actions. Often I will just keep quiet and ignore what they say, but every once in a while, they do drive me up the wall. These people like to complain about how humans nowadays are lacking of humanities and compassion. However, when they actually see somebody doing a good deed in front of them, they start to question and criticize that person’s honesty. Perhaps it is the increasing crime rate and the never-ending rat race that caused them to be so suspicious to nice strangers. In other words, people nowadays have lost sight of the real meaning of kindness and just let it go unnoticed. That is why I think random acts of kindness are really important. These selfless acts are not only capable of bringing joy to the receivers but also to the givers. Because of this, I want to help spread the idea of these random acts to the whole world. I want to show the people how the little things they give could make a big difference in someone else’s life.24. What was the influence of the boy’s rose on the author?A. It made the author feel ashamed.B. The author decided to follow suit.C. The author said a lot to the boy.D. It gave the author strength and hope.25. Why did the author join the school’s Red Crescent Society?A. To be a volunteer.B. To live a happy life.C. To make others smile.D. To have a good time.26. Which can replace the underlined phrase in Paragraph 2?A. Make me very angry.B. Bring difficulty to me.C. Force me to climb the wall.D. Force me to the dead corner.27. What can be inferred from the third paragraph?A. Rats are always running on the streets.B. Those who do good deeds are respected.C. The author feels sad about other people.D. Trust between people is decreasing.CThe Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is gaining global popularity. According to a government white paper, TCM has been introduced in 183 countries and regions around theworld.Westerners’ understanding of TCM, however, may be limited to acupuncture, cupping and massage(针灸、拔罐和按摩). For instance, the purple, injury-like marks left on U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps’ back from cupping for the purpose of relaxing his muscles and reducing pain became the center of attention during the Rio Olympics in 2016.As a matter of fact, Chinese herbs play a more important role in getting rid of diseases and keeping the body in good condition in the TCM treatment system than physical treatment. It is therefore disheartening to know that while 103 WHO member countries have given approval to the practice of acupuncture, not many recognize Chinese herbal medicine. TCM falls far behind Western medicine owing partly to the slow development of Chinese herbs.Herbs are made into pills, powder and soup, and the kind of herbs used, their quality and quantity, and the processing of the ingredients(原材料)jointly determine the effectiveness of the prescription. Compared with Western medicine, which has standardized drug production processes and treatment methods, TCM lacks standardization, with the chemical composition and functions of its medicines being unclear and their effects being unstable. Fortunately, standardization has improved in recent decades, with an increasing number of factories producing patented TCM drugs.Another factor that has prevented the development of TCM prescription drugs is the lack of creativity. While Western medicine-making companies come up with new products every year, TCM drug producers tend to make medicines according to prescription handed down from the past. Chinese chemist Tu Youyou’s winning the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or medicine for her research into malaria(疟疾)treatment may drive creativity to some extent in China’s TCM industry. However, the current state of affairs cannot be changed within a short time.28. Why does the author mention the example of Michael Phelps?A. Because he was injured in his swimming.B. Because cupping is a kind of important TCM treatment.C. Because westerners know a little about TCM.D. Because westerners attached great importance to TCM.29. Why don’t some member countries of WHO recognize Chinese herbal medicine?A. Because Chinese herbs can get rid of diseases.B. Because they only approve the practice of acupuncture.C. Because Western medicine is more effective.D. Because medicine made out of Chinese herbs develops slowly.30. Compared with Western medicine, what is the weak point of TCM in Paragraph 4?A. The methods of planting herbs.B. The effectiveness of prescription.C. Lacking in standardization.D. Its stable functions.31. The lack of creativity in TCM refers to the fact that ________.A. Medicine-making companies lack creativityB. Prescriptions are got from the pastC. Western companies are more experiencedD. Medicine-making companies lack driving forceDAn exciting landing process of Chang’e-4 lunar probe (月球探测器)was seen through the monitor at Beijing Aerospace Control Center in Beijing, Jan. 3, 2019. It touched down on the far side of the moon at 10:26 a.m. Beijing Time, becoming the first spacecraft soft-landing on the moon’s unknown side never visible from Earth.China’s Chang’e-4 probe has started the exploration on the far side of the moon thanks to the relay satellite that provides a communication link with ground control. The relay satellite, named Queqiao, meaning Magpie Bridge, after a Chinese legend, was launched on May 21, 2018, and became the first communication satellite operating in the halo orbit, nearly 500,000 km fromthe earth. It can also provide communication for probes from other countries. The relay satellite will also be used for scientific and technological experiments. The maximum distance between the satellite and the Chang’e-4 probe on the far side of the moon is 79,000 km. The satellite processes data from the probe and sends it to Earth. The satellite can stay in its orbit for a long time due to its relatively low fuel consumption, as the earth’s and moon’s gravity balances its orbital moving. While in orbit, it can see both the earth and the far side of the moon. The concept of using a relay satellite in the halo orbit was first put forward by U.S. space experts in the 1960s, but was realized by Chinese space engineers.Researchers hope to use the cameras on the satellite to record asteroids (小行星)hitting the far side of the moon. To control the cost of the Chang’e-4 probe, the relay satellite was designed to be relatively small, weighing about 400 kg.Researchers had just 30 months to develop the satellite, putting them under high pressure. To promote public interest in space exploration, the China National Space Administration invited people to write down their wishes for lunar and space exploration, and the relay satellite carries the names of tens of thousands of participants and their messages.32. What do we learn from the second paragraph?A. The relay satellite was launched on Jan. 3, 2019.B. Chang’e-4 probe was the first communication satellite.C. The relay satellite only explores the far side of the moon.D. The relay satellite can handle data from Chang’e-4 probe.33. Why was the size of the relay satellite relatively small?A. To reduce the cost as much as possible.B. To make it circle Moon for a longer time.C. To avoid being crashed by other satellites.D. To follow American space experts’ advice.34. What made researchers suffer from great stress?A. Few people interested in the exploration on the moon.B. The relay satellite carrying too much equipment.C. Their lacking enough time to develop the relay satellite.D. People’s never being optimistic about the relay satellite35. What is the main idea of the text?A. China is a new space power after the USA.B.Change-4 probe lands on Moon’s far side.C. Chinese space engineers make much progress.D. Space exploration is a dangerous challenge.参考答案21 -23 DAB 24 -27BCAD 28-31 CDCB 32-35 DACB。

A2019·天津卷C篇How does an ecosystem(生态系统)work? What makes the populations of different species the way they are?Why are there so many flies and so few wolves? To find an answer, scientists have built mathematical models of food webs, noting who eats whom and how much each one eats. With such models, scientists have found out some key principles operating in food webs. Most food webs, for instance, consist of many weak links rather than a few strong ones. When a predator(掠食动物)always eats huge numbers of a single prey(猎物),the two species are strongly linked;when a predator lives on various species, they are weakly linked. Food webs may be dominated by many weak links because that arrangement is more stable over the long term. If a predator can eat several species,it can survive the extinction(灭绝)of one of them. And if a predator can move on to another species that is easier to find when a prey species becomes rare, the switch allows the original prey to recover. The weak links may thus keep species from driving one another to extinction.Mathematical models have also revealed that food webs may be unstable, where small changes of top predators can lead to big effects throughout entire ecosystems. In the 1960s,scientists proposed that predators at the top of a food web had a surprising amount of control over the size of populations of other species—including species they did not directly attack. And unplanned human activities have proved the idea of top-down control by top predators to be true. In the ocean,we fished for top predators such as cod on an industrial scale, while on land,we killed off large predators such as wolves. These actions have greatly affected the ecological balance.Scientists have built an early-warning system based on mathematical models. Ideally, the system would tell us when to adapt human activities that are pushing an ecosystem toward a breakdown or would even allow us to pull an ecosystem back from the borderline. Prevention is key, scientists say because once ecosystems pass their tipping point(临界点),it is remarkably difficult for them to return.[分析]这是一篇说明文。

But what to do if you don't quite know where you fit into this world and you're tired of carrying that burden alone?I answered strangers' questions on life puzzles at the entrance to the New York City subway at 57th and 8th. A group of strangers had stopped by because they were carrying some deep, meaningful questions that had long gone unanswered, like “why can't I be happier in my life?”And then I spotted her, who would be my toughest questioner of the day. She was about 6 years old and held her mother's hand as she craned (伸长) her neck to stare at us. Her mother stopped, but the girl hesitated. “It's OK,” I offered. “Do you have a question?” The girl smiled at her mother, then let go of her hand to walk over towards us. She looked me dead in the eye and said, “How do I know I'm real?”Suddenly I was back in graduate school. Should I talk about the French philosopher Rene Descartes to prove our existence, with the phrase “I think, therefore I am?” Or, mention English philosopher G.E. Moore and his famous “here is one hand, here is the other” to prove the existence of the external world? But then the answer came to me. I remembered that the most important part of philosophy was feeding our sense of wonder. “Close your eyes,” I said. She did. “Well, did you disappear?”She smiled and shook her head, then opened her eyes. “Congratulations, you're real.”She grinned (露齿而笑) broadly and walked over to her mother, who looked back at us and smiled.4.Why did the author show up at the entrance of the subway?A.To take the subway.B.To look for strangers' help.C.To offer advice on life puzzles.D.To help strangers carry their bags.5.What made the little girl stare at the author?A.Curiosity. Called “ShiftWear”,the sneakers are the brainchild of a team of businessmen, and engineers led by New York-based designer David Coelho. The adaptable shoes can be customized by using a smart phone app. Shoe owners will have the option of selecting a design from a variety of HD patterns by famous artists or creating one themselves. The company's founders imagine the marketplace where artists can not only share but also sell their designs to others. Despite being electronic, the designs are clearly visible even in the brightest sunlight. What's even cooler is that by switching on backlight, users can even show their designs in the dark!According to Coelho, the sneakers will keep their charge forever if only images are displayed. Though they will need periodic recharging, active users have nothing to worry about. That's because the shoes are equipped with special Walk-N-Charge technology that powers the shoes — with every step. Inactive users also have options of charging the sneakers without using wires. The bottom part of the shoes is covered with Kevlar fibers, a kind of strong material, reducing normal wear and tear. In fact, over 85 percent of Americans consume caffeine (咖啡因) regularly — and coffee is the preferred medium. As for the perfect time for your Joe? There's a “sweet spot”that could maximize your caffeine kick, and surprisingly enough, it's not the first thing in the morning.Although having your coffee right away may cause you to think quickly in the morning, that feeling quickly crashes just a few hours later. “Definitely limit coffee when you first wake up”,Laura Cipullo, registered dietitian and author of Women's Health Body Clock Diet, told CNBC.To get the most benefit, experts recommend drinking your coffee in the mid-morning or early afternoon, instead. Getting caffeine about three to four hours after you get out of bed will do the trick, too. Why? At those times in the day, your body is low on cortisol (皮质醇) —the stress hormone that makes you think quickly — and desperately needs a good pick-me-up.Of course, if you can't function without your morning coffee, then by all means, continue drinking! Not everyone agrees with the mid-morning theory, anyway. Registered dietitian-nutritionist MelanieDellinges believes when you consume caffeine is not in the least important; it's how much caffeine you consume that matters the most. She recommends limiting your intake to two to four cups a day.Regardless of when you decide to drink your coffee, try to avoid drinking coffee after 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Research shows that caffeine can disturb your sleep up to six hours after you consume it.12.Which word can best replace the underlined “Joe”in paragraph 1?A.routine B.companyC.breakfast D.coffee13.When does the author suggest drinking coffee?A.Late in the evening.B.3 to 4 hours after getting up.C.Early in the morning.D.2 or 3 hours later after getting up.14.What does Melanie Dellinges regard as the most important?A.The amount of caffeine intake.B.The time to consume caffeine.C.The way one takes in caffeine.D.The mid-morning theory on coffee.15.What is the best title for this text?A.How Much Coffee to DrinkB.Why We Ought to Drink CoffeeC.Don't Drink Coffee in the MorningD.The Best Time to Drink Coffee第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

appears that we will have to double world food production in the next 40 years due to population growth, increasing meat consumption and pressure from biofuels (生物燃料).We will also have to reduce the environmental impacts from our farming practices, which have caused widespread damage to soils, ecosystems, waters and even the atmosphere. In fact, agriculture’s impacts are as bad as climate change as an e nvironmental concern.Besides, we will have to improve food security for the world’s poor. While the Green Revolution of the 1960s made it possible to feed hundreds of millions more people than in earlier eras, the number of the under-nourished in the world has started to rise again. Finally, we will have to increase the recovering ability of agriculture from shocks.Today, our high-efficiency, globalized world has many benefits, but it is vulnerable (易受伤的)to destruction, whether from droughts, diseases or sudden price rises. We must start building better food systems to better keep us away from future shocks.Currently, there are two models of agriculture: local and organic agriculture vs.globalizedand industrialized agriculture. Each has been strongly supported and severely criticized, but neither of these models, standing alone, can fully meet our needs.Organic agriculture teaches us important lessons about soils, nutrition and pest management.Unfortunately, organic food provides less than 1% of the world’s calories, mostly to the wealthy. It is hard to imagine organic farming developing to feed 9 billion.Globalized and industrialized agriculture has benefits of high output and low labor demands.Without it, billions of people would have starved. However, it has come with enormous environmental and social costs, which cannot be sustained.Rather than voting for just one solution, we need a third way to solve the crisis.Let’s take ideas from both sides, creating new, hybrid solutions that increase production, save resources and build a more sustainable agriculture. There are many promising avenues to pursue.A new “third way” for agriculture is not only possible but also necessary. Our problems are huge, and they will require everyone at the table, working together toward solutions.12.How many goals of agriculture are mentioned in the passage?A.Three B.Four C.Five D.Six 13.Which is true according to the passage?A.Organic agriculture can feed most people in the world now.B.Industrialized agriculture does no harm to our environment.C.Modern farming is criticized while organic farming is not.D.The future agriculture can’t only depend on organic agriculture.14.We can learn from the passage that _______.A.everyone can afford to enjoy organic food at willB.we will vote to decide which farming system to takeC.the writer is Even my younger sister had got rid of them much earlier than me. But as I began to grow older, this changed. All this happened on the Bike Safety Day. It is supposed to be a fun day at school when all of us kids bring our bikes to school and the school provides us with the opportunity to ride outside and learn proper bike safety. Sounds like fun, right? No. In fact, it caused me to panic. What was I going to say when my friends asked me about my training wheels? With the pressure of everyone seeing my training wheels, I determined to let them go. This was the first big change I'd ever made on my own.I went to my parents and told them all about my dilemma. They were more than happy to help. We went outside and got my bike. Instead of running away and hiding behind, I stood in front of my bike and took great pride in my decision as my dad removed the training wheels.I got on and steadied myself. My heart raced but my feet and hands were calm. My dad started to push before my feet even moved and suddenly I was off. The fear faded away and a relaxed mind came into its place. New research from Monash University showed Aussie adults also widely supported the inclusion of technology, coding and artificial intelligence subjects in student curriculums to prepare them for future jobs.Co-author Professor Neil Selwyn, from Monash's new Education Futures think tank, said the survey results of more than 2,000 Australians had taken himself and Dr Deana Leahy by surprise. “The life skills — I wasn't expecting that at all,” he said. Those quizzed were asked to rate the value of a list of subjects already in the curriculum, but were also given an open space to write what they think should be included. Prof. Selwyn said people called for schools to teach financial skills, budgeting, cooking and doing taxes. “You could argue that these are things people should be learning themselves, or learning from their families,” he said. “But we've got to be thinking forward in terms of the skills people will need for jobs and their ways of living.”One respondent said schools should introduce a “contemporary life skills”subject: “A compulsory 1-hour a week class on skills needed that parents seem continually unable to teach their kids”. Suggestions for the class included resume writing, filing tax returns and health claims. Another respondent called for students to be taught “general life skills”as unfortunately not enough kids will have parents to actually be bothered to educate them or simply parents don't know themselves.Of the subjects, maths was the highest ranked (75.5 percent), followed closely by English (74.8 percent). And while science was the third highest ranked subject (46.2 percent), it was more strongly supported by those who earned higher wages and were university-educated compared to lower income earners.Aspects of school life considered least important were students having fun, learning about things that interested them and being given the opportunity to be creative.8.Why did the adults suggest adding “life skills”to school curriculums?A.To vary school curriculums.B.To enrich students' school life.C.To prepare students for future work and life.D.To save parents the trouble of educating kids.9.What did Prof. Selwyn think of the adults' suggestions?A.Reasonable. B.Ridiculous.C.Interesting. D.Impractical.10.What does Paragraph 3 focus on?A.Differences of school subjects.B.Reasons for the school survey.C.Opinions from the surveyed.D.Investigations of the respondents.11.What can we know from the text?A.The present curriculums are to adults' taste.B.Contemporary life skills involve resume writing.C.Students' interests have been greatly promoted.D.The parents quizzed think well of school life.D[2019·太原期末]Fairy tales perform many functions. They entertain, encourage imagination and teach problem-solving skills. They can also provide moral lessons, highlighting the dangers of failing to follow the social codes that let human beings coexist in harmony. Such moral lessons may not mean much to a robot, but a team of researchers at Georgia Institute of Technology believes it has found a way to use the fairy tales as moral lessons that AI (artificial intelligence) can take to its cold, mechanical heart. The collected stories of different cultures teach children how to behave in socially acceptable ways with examples of proper and improper behavior in fables, novels and other literature. We believe story comprehension in robots can prevent the intelligent robots from killinghumanity which was predicted and feared by some of the biggest names in technology including Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates. This system is called “Quixote”. It collects story plots from the Internet and then uses those stories to teach robots how to behave. The experiment done by the designers involves going to a drugstore to purchase some medicine for a human who needs to get it as soon as possible. The robot has three options. It can wait in line; it can interact with the storekeeper politely and purchase the medicine with priority; or it can steal the medicine and escape. Without any further directives (指示), the robot will come to the conclusion that the most efficient means of obtaining the medicine is to steal it. But Quixote offers a reward for waiting in line and politely purchasing the medicine and a punishment for stealing it. In this way, the robot will learn the moral way to behave on that occasion.Quixote would work best on a robot that has a very limited function. It's a baby step in the direction of teaching more moral lessons into robots. We believe that AI has to be trained to adopt the values of a particular society, and in doing so, it will strive to avoid unacceptable behavior. Giving robots the ability to read and understand our stories may be the most efficient means.12.What function do fairy tales perform in the robots?A.They entertain robots.B.They highlight dangers.C.They make robots more intelligent.D.They enable robots to behave morally.13.What is “Quixote” in the text?A.A punishment system.B.A character in literature.C.A big name in technology.D.A kind of software educating robots.14.What does the designer expect robots to do in the experiment?A.To take advantage of its privilege.B.To finish the task most efficiently.C.To perform in a well-mannered way.D.To be rewarded by the storekeeper.15.Which of the following can best express the author's opinion?A.Robots will definitely have more functions.B.Robots with humans' emotions are perfect.C.Training robots to be socially acceptable is necessary.D.The development of robots is still in a baby step.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

AHumans have been battling viruses since before we had even evolved into our modern form, but we’re a long way from winning the fight against them. Here are a few of the worst killers.Marburg virusScientists identified Marburg virus in 1967, when small outbreaks occurred among lab workers in Germany who were exposed to infected (感染) monkeys. The infected people develop high fevers and bleeding throughout the body. Marburg can be passed on from human to human via direct contact. The death rate is 80% in the 1998—2000 outbreak in Congo and in the 2005 outbreak in Angola.Ebola virusThe first known Ebola outbreaks in humans struck Africa in Sudan and Congo in 1976. The natural host of Ebola is bats. The virus is spread through contact with infected people or animals. Symptoms include fever, bleeding and organ failure. The death rate is 50% to 70%.HantavirusHantavirus was first recognized as an infectious disease in the 1950s in Korea. But it first gained wide attention in the U.S. in 1993, when a healthy young man and his fiancée died within days of developing shortness of breath. Hantavirus was isolated (分离) from a deer mouse. More than 600 people in the U.S. are now infected and 36% have died. The virus doesn’t spread from human to human.Mers-CoV virusMers-CoV virus had an outbreak in Asia, Saudi Arabia in 2012 and South Korea in 2015. The virus likely originated in bats. The disease infected camels before passing into humans and causes fever and shortness of breath. It has a death rate between 30% and 40%, making it the most deadly of the known coronavirus (冠状病毒) family. Mers-CoV spreads from one person to another.1. Which virus caused the highest death rate in a particular area?A. Marburg virus.B. Ebola virus.C. Hantavirus.D. Mers-CoV virus.2. What can we know about Hantavirus?A. It is a type of coronaviruses.B. It was identified in the 21st century.C. It was first found in the United States.D. It only spreads from animals to humans.3. In what sense are Ebola virus and Mers-CoV virus similar?A. They may have the same host.B. They originate in the same continent.C. They belong to the same virus family.D. They have exactly the same symptoms.BIn 2000, when I was seven years old, my family and I were coming back from a T-ball game. In our driveway, we spotted two adult geese and a baby goose. The adults were frightened by our return and flew away, but their baby was still too young to fly. We are no strangers to wildlife, so we avoided physical contact with the baby goose out of fear that it would keep us in its mind and be lost to its family forever.Hours passed, and night fell. The baby goose needed protection, warmth and food. So we had to do something. We brought him onto our back porch (走廊). My sister called the little guy Peeper, because he would follow us making a peeping noise. We also decided that Peeper was a boy.A year passed and we became best friends. Peeper slept on our back porch and used it as a restroom. My dad would spray off his droppings daily with a hose (软管). Part of this routine included Dad throwing Peeper up into the air, letting him fly around the house and come back once the porch was clean. One evening, my uncle came over, and my dad wanted to show him Peeper’s flight. He threw him up in the air, but Peeper just flew off. Everyone was sad. Twenty years passed, and Peeper became a fond memory.Geese live to be around 25 years old and are very loyal, never forgetting their first home. Even so, it shocked me when, in 2019, an old adult goose appeared at my house. After two weeks of the goose coming back repeatedly, I believe this wasn’t a random goose. He did all of the same things Peeper used to and responded to the name Peeper. Much to my amazement, my old best friend had returned, 20 years later. This experience has been as meaningful to me as anything in my life. I hope that my children, someday, have the opportunity to connect with nature and a wild being in this same way.4. Why did the writer’s family avoid physical contact with the baby goose at first?A. To show his tricks of training.6. What made the writer recognize the goose?A. Its voice.B. Its appearance.C. Its age.D. Its behavior.7. How does the writer find this experience?A. Discouraging.B. Rewarding.C. Pitiful.D. Entertaining.CIce hockey’s beginning is a little uncertain. It has been tracked back to an Irish game known as hurley by some experts. Others consider ice hockey as having come from lacrosse and field games that were played by Micmac Indians. Still others say that hockey evolved in Northern Europe. At any rate, it is quite likely that ice hockey came into being from different early games played with a stick and a ball.In the 1850s, the first recorded games of ice hockey were played, and in the 1870s, the first set of ice hockey rules were written by a group of students at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. These rules set up the use of a puck (冰球) replacing a ball and decided the number of players to be nine per team. The year 1880 brought the organization of the first amateur hockey league. Over the next several years, ice hockey’s popularity spread across Canada. It was around 1893 that ice hockey was first played in the United States. There have been several ice hockey leagues. The best known is the National Hockey League, which came into being in 1917 in Canada.Ice hockey has the oldest sports trophy (奖杯) in North America. It had become so widespread in Canada that a trophy was presented by the Governor General of Canada to be awarded to the top hockey team. Lord Stanley of Preston was the name of the Governor General, and the trophy became known as the Stanley Cup.Not many changes have been made to the initial rules set forth in the 1870s. The main ones have been the decrease from nine players to six and the progression of new and better equipment. In 1910-11, the game changed from two 30-minute periods to three 20-minute periods. In 1943-44, the red line at center ice was introduced to speed up the game. In 2005-06, goalkeeper equipment was downsized.8. When was the first amateur hockey league formed?A. In the 1850s.B. In the 1870s.C. In 1880.D. In 1893.9. Where did the name of the Stanley Cup come from?A. The top hockey team captain.B. The Governor General of Canada.C. The oldest sports trophy maker.D. The leader of the first hockey league.10. How has the ice hockey sport changed?A. Its initial rules have been given up.B. It has fewer players on a team.C. Its total match time has been reduced.D. It needs much less equipment.11. What’s the text mainly about?A. The rules of the ice hockey sport.B. The great changes of the ice hockey sport.C. The history of the ice hockey sport.D. The development of the National Hockey League.DClimate change leads to a threat to the world’s sandy beaches, and as many as half of them could disappear by 2100, a new study has found. Even by 2050 some coastlines could be unrecognizable from what we see today, with 10% to 12% facing severe erosion(侵蚀).Using updated sea level rise predictions, the researchers analyzed how beaches around the world would be in a future with higher seas and more damaging storms. They also considered natural processes like wave erosion, as well as human factors — like coastal building developments — all of which can affect a beach’s health. The study found that sea level rise is expected to outweigh these other factors, and that the more heat-trapping gases humans put into the atmosphere, the worse the influences on the world’s beaches are likely to be.It’s hard to overstate just how important the world’s beaches are. They cover more than one third of the world’s coastlines, and protect coastal areas from storms. Beaches are also important economic engines, supporting relaxation, tourism and other activities. And in some areas, the beach is more than a vacation destination. In places like Australia, life near the coast revolves around the beach for much of the year. Some of the world’s most popular beaches are already taking action. Places like Miami Beach are trucking in thousands of tons of sand to patch up (修复) badly eroded shorelines, while others have built sea walls and breakwaters in an attempt to hold precious sand in place. But the financial and environmental costs of these projects are huge, and scientists say rising seas and more powerful storms, supercharged by a warmer climate, will make this a losing battle. However, the researchers did find that humans have some control over what happens to the world’s beaches. If the world’s governments are able to stick to modest cuts to heat-trapping gas pollution, the researchers found that 22% of projected beach losses by 2050 could be prevented, a number that grows to 40% by 2100 if greenhouse gases are limited.12. Which is the biggest contributor to severe beach erosion?A. Damaging storms.B. Wave erosion.C. Coastal building.D. Sea level rise.13. What can we infer from Paragraph 3?A. It is hard to protect coastal beaches.B. One third of storms take place near beaches.C. Beaches are of great significance to our lives.D. Most Australians live on beach tourism.14. What does the underlined word “this” refer to in Paragraph 4?A. Popularizing the beaches.B. Holding sand in place.C. Reducing the project costs.D. Stopping global warming.15. What is the best title for the text?A. Half beaches could disappear by 2100.B. Climate change is doing harm to our lives.C. The beach is more than a vacation destination.D. Governments are taking action to fight wave erosion.第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。

For senior Chinese like him, whose children and grandchildren live far away, the Spring Festival is the traditional time when they can reunite and sit down together for dinner.Li loves his grandson and wants to surprise him with a newyear gift.He knows the child loves Peppa Pig but has no clue what it is. But Americans do not support changing the genetic structure, or DNA of children so that they can be faster, taller or more intelligent. The research was carried out by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, which suggests that 81% of Americans approve of using gene editing to prevent killer diseases such as Huntington's disease, and 65% agree to use gene editing to prevent conditions like blindness. However, 66% oppose using gene editing to change qualities such as intelligence or athletic ability. They are also against changing physical qualities such as eye color or height.Gene editing takes out a part of DNA to remove, replace or repair a gene. Changes to adult cells only affect the person being treated. But editing genes in embryos (胚胎) can change the resulting children in ways that can be passed to future generations. Due to its important effects, the International Council for Science says gene editing should not yet be tested on humans. Scientists say more laboratory research is needed to prove whether it is safe or not.Dr. Robert Klitzman, who studies biological research rules, noted that if fertility (生育) clinics start to edit the genes of embryos, there will be hard choices to make about what conditions can be changed. “It's one thing to look at the extremes of deadly diseases versus surface things, but in the middle are going to be these very different issues.” he said. The study suggests a lack of trust in the technology. Nearly 90% of the people in the study worry whether it will be used in a moral way.8.In which aspect do most Americans approve of using gene editing?A.Running swifter.B.Preventing deadly diseases.C.Changing eye color.D.Improving intelligence.9.What do we know about gene editing from the text?A.It tends to influence the future generations.B.It will become widely used in a moral way.C.It edits all parts of DNA in a new way.D.It has been tested safe to use on human beings.10.What is Dr. Robert's attitude to the use of gene-editing technology to create babies?A.Uninterested. But the glacier was gone, melted by the warming climate. Sharp had a deep sense of loss when she discovered the glacier wasn't there anymore.Loss is a growing issue for people working and living on the front lines of climate change. And that gave Jennifer Wren Atkinson, a full-time lecturer at the University of Washington Bothell, US, an idea for a class. This term, she taught students on the Bothell campus about the emotional burdens of environmental studies. She used the experiences of Native American tribes (部落), scientists and activists, and asked her 24 students to face the reality that there is no easy fix — that “this is such an intractable problem that they're going to be dealing with it for the rest of their lives.”Student Cody Dillon used to be a climate science skeptic (怀疑论者). Then he did his own reading and research, and changed his mind.Dillon wasn't going into environmental work —he was a computer-science major. Yet, the potential for a worldwide environmental catastrophe seemed so real to him five years ago that he quit his job and became a full-time volunteer for an environmental group that worked on restoration (恢复) projects.Six months into the work, he decided that Atkinson's class was just what he was looking for — a place where he could discuss his concerns about a changing climate.Atkinson said she hopes the class helped her students prepare themselves for the amount of environmental loss that will happen over their lifetimes.“We are already changing the planet — so many species are going to be lost, displaced or massively impacted,”she said. “The future isn't going to be what they imagined.”12.Why did the author mention the case of Fawn Sharp?A.To lay a basis for Fawn Sharp's further research.B.To prove Fawn Sharp's work is similar to Atkinson's.C.To lead into the issue of loss caused by climate change.D.To show scientists' concern about the Mount Anderson glacier.13.What's the main purpose of Atkinson's class?A.To explore how different people deal with climate change.B.To get students more concerned about the environmental issue.C.To find solutions to the environmental issue of OlympicMountains.14.Which of the following best explains “intractable” underlined in Paragraph Three?A.Simple. B.Difficult.C.Common. D.Interesting.15.How did Atkinson's class influence Dillon?A.It made him work as a part-time volunteer for restoration projects.B.It made him realize a planet-wide climate disaster would happen.C.It encouraged him to be more involved in environmental protection.D.It discouraged him to work on restoration projects for the environment.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
