2 Breakfast meetings rarely last more than an hour. They imply certain urgency and are often convenient during business travels. Lunch is usually best for getting to know a guest a bit better. People do not have to talk about business, of course. Afternoon tea, or coffee, is a relaxed way to spend 45 minutes or an hour talking about business. Dinner is a more formal business event. Generally, this is not a time to talk about business, but rather a time to get to know the other person and enjoy each other’s company.

1A New Era Comprehensive Business English Textbook 1Hi there! My name is Timmy and I'm in 4th grade. Our teacher Mrs. Jenkins just got us these brand new textbooks for learning business English. At first, I wasn't too sure about it. Business English? That sounds kind of boring for a kid like me. But after we started using the books, I have to admit, they're actually pretty cool! The textbook is called "A New Era Comprehensive Business English Textbook 1" and it's all in full color with tons of pictures and illustrations. That makes it way more fun than those old black and white textbooks we used to have. The pictures really bring the lessons to life. The book starts off pretty basic, teaching simple phrases and vocabulary words related to business. Things like "Nice to meet you," "Thank you for your time," numbers, days of the week, etc. But it gets more advanced as you go.By the middle of the book, we were learning how to make appointments, place orders, negotiate deals and describe products. Those lessons came with really useful dialogues between business people that showed how the language is actually used. We'd read the dialogues out loud and practice the conversations. My favorite part is all the fun activities and games throughout the book. There are word searches, crossword puzzles, matching exercises and other stuff that makes practicing English way more enjoyable than just reading from the book over and over. One of the neat exercises had us working in small groups to role play being employees at a company. We had to handle situations like scheduling meetings, traveling for work, giving presentations and meeting with clients. It was like real life practice for being a business person! The textbook also has a ton of interesting readings about the business world and famous companies. There are sections on entrepreneurship, marketing, finance and more. It has really opened my eyes to all the different careers you can have and how businesses operate. Maybe I'll even start my own company one day! What I like best though, are all the little tips and advice boxes scattered throughout the lessons. They give great strategies for things like:• How to speak clearly and confidently• Managing meetings effectively• Networking and making connections• Resolving conflict s with coworkers• Negotiating the best dealsThis textbook is just jam-packed with so much good info for building business skills. And the way it's all presented with stories, images and interactive activities makes it something even kids can understand and enjoy.I have to give kudos to the folks at Oxford University Press who created this textbook. They did an awesome job putting it all together in a really engaging way. Seriously, if you'd told me at the beginning of the year that I'd be this excited about a business English book, I wouldn't have believed you!Trust me, this textbook isn't just a boring old collection of vocabulary lists and grammar exercises. It's a complete course that teaches you practical business communication while alsogiving cultural insights into the corporate world. You'll learn all the language you need to thrive professionally.I'm really glad my school decided to use these textbooks. My friends and I are having a blast with all the different activities and role plays. Who knew learning business English could be this much fun?At the same time, I know we're developing really important skills that will help us out huge in the future. Whether we end up working at an office, store, restaurant or running our own businesses, this textbook is setting us up for success.Being able to communicate effectively and understand business concepts at a young age will give us all a big head start in life. Mrs. Jenkins says it will be a valuable asset when we're older and start looking for careers. I'm already feeling a lot more prepared thanks to this awesome textbook.I'd definitely recommend "A New Era Comprehensive Business English Textbook 1" to any elementary schools looking for a engaging, skill-building way to teach English in a professional context. Us kids are loving it so far, and I'm excited to continue working through the rest of the book this year!篇2New Era Business English Integrated Coursebook 1Hello, young learners! For example, you could say, "Our lemonade is fresh, tangy, and bursting with flavor!" See how those adjectives make your mouth water? That's the power of descriptive language! But that's not all. You'll also need to learn some persuasive language to convince people to buy from you. For instance, you could say, "Try our lemonade today and experience the ultimate refreshment!" or "Quench your thirst with our one-of-a-kind lemonade recipe!"Now, let's talk about customer service. You'll want to make sure your customers feel valued and appreciated. You could greet them with a friendly, "Welcome to our lemonade stand!" or "How can I help you today?" Remember, a smile goes a long way in making people feel comfortable. As your business grows, you might need to hire some help. That's where job advertisements come in. You could create a sign that says, "Lemonade stand seeking enthusiastic and hardworking helpers. Flexible hours and free lemonade included!"But running a business isn't just about making money. It's also about giving back to the community. You could organize a charity event where a portion of your lemonade sales goes to a good cause. You could call it "Lemonade for a Cause" or "Sip for a Smile."As you can see, the world of business English is vast and exciting. My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. I just started using this really cool new textbook called "Comprehensive Business English for the New Era Student's Book 1" and I wanted to tell you all about it!First of all, the name is kind of long, but I like that it's straightforward about what the book covers - business English for modern times. I'm not a business person yet since I'm still a kid, but my parents say it's never too early to start learning important skills. Plus, English is one of the main languages used in business around the world, so getting good at it can open up lots of opportunities later on.The textbook itself is really colorful and engaging. It's got tons of pictures, graphics, dialogues and activities throughout. I know some textbooks can be kind of dry and boring, but this one totally isn't! The lessons are set up almost like little stories, following recurring characters in different workplace situations. Itmakes it way more interesting to learn when you can follow a narrative. For example, in one lesson two co-workers named Michael and Sophia have to collaborate on an important presentation. It walks through how they set up a meeting, divide up tasks, deal with any misunderstandings or conflicts, and ultimately prepare their materials. Along the way, it teaches tons of useful vocabulary, grammar and pragmatics for things like scheduling, negotiating, giving suggestions and so on. Super practical stuff that I can definitely see myself needing later in life!Another part I like is that it incorporates a lot of Chinese cultural elements and references. Some textbooks make everything seem so western-centric, but this one uses familiar examples and scenarios that are relevant to my actual environment here in China. That makes the material a lot more relatable and easier for me to engage with. The book also comes with tons of supplementary resources like audio recordings, video clips, online exercises and even some basic coding activities. I really appreciate how it uses multimedia and interactive elements to reinforce the lessons in different formats. It caters to various learning styles beyond just reading texts.Overall, what I've loved most so far is how practical and applicable all the content feels. It's not just some dry, theoretical overview of business concepts. The lessons systematically build important communication skills like giving presentations, participating in meetings, negotiating deals, corresponding over email, and so much more. I can totally picture myself needing abilities like those when I start my own career someday.I'll admit, some of the more advanced sections on things like accounting, investments and international trade have gone a bit over my head so far. But the great thing is that this is amulti-level series, so I can keep building on the foundations as I get older. For now, I'm focusing on mastering the basics like introducing myself professionally, talking about my skills and interests, discussing workplace culture, and so on.My parents seem really impressed that I'm getting exposed to this kind of content at my age. From their perspective, they wish they had access to materials like this when they were kids to get a head start. Maybe I'll even be able to help them out with some work English situations in the future!Who knows, this could be setting me up for all kinds of exciting potential careers later on - international businesswoman, translator, educator, entrepreneur...the possibilities seem wideopen. I'm just grateful to have such an engaging resource that makes me genuinely excited to crack open my textbook and learn. For any other kids out there who think English or business concepts seem intimidating, I'd highly recommend giving this book a look. It does such a great job of making the content feel approachable, practical and even fun. And it's never too early to start building skills that could open up awesome opportunities in the global marketplace someday. Thanks for listening to me go on about my new favorite textbook. Let me know if you decide to check it out too!篇4Learning Business English is Fun!Hey there! My name is Timmy and I'm here to tell you all about learning business English. Recently, my teacher gave us a brand new English book called "New Era Business English Integrated Course Student Book 1" and I'm so excited about it!At first, I was a bit confused by the "Business English" part. I thought it would be all about boring stuff like numbers and office work. But boy, was I wrong! This book is packed with so many interesting topics and activities that make learning English a blast.Let me tell you about some of the cool things I've learned so far. In the first unit, we talked about introducing ourselves and greeting others. It was fun practicing different ways to say "hello" and learning about polite expressions. My favorite part was when we played a game where we had to walk around the classroom, introduce ourselves to our classmates, and ask them questions like "What's your name?" and "How are you today?"Another unit I really enjoyed was about colors and shapes. We learned the names of all the colors in English, and then we had to find objects in the classroom that matched each color. It was like a treasure hunt! We also played a game where we had to describe different shapes without using their names, and ourpartners had to guess what we were talking about. It was a bit tricky at first, but it really helped me practice my descriptive skills. But you know what's really cool about this book? It doesn't just focus on vocabulary and grammar. It also teaches us about different cultures and customs around the world. In one unit, we learned about famous landmarks and traditions from various countries. We even got to try some traditional snacks from different regions! It was so much fun and made me want to travel the world one day.The book also has a lot of fun activities and games that help us practice what we've learned. There are crossword puzzles, word searches, and even little stories or conversations that we can act out with our classmates. It's like we're not just studying English, but also having a great time together. One of my favorite parts of the book is the little cartoon characters that appear throughout the lessons. They're so cute and funny! Sometimes they tell jokes or give us tips on how to remember certain words or phrases. It's like having a little English-speaking buddy guiding us through the book.Overall, I'm having a blast with "New Era Business English Integrated Course Student Book 1." It's making learning Englishso much more enjoyable and interesting than I ever thought possible. I can't wait to see what other exciting topics and activities are in store for us as we continue through the book.If you're a kid like me who wants to learn English in a fun and engaging way, I highly recommend this book. It's not just about memorizing boring words and rules, but about exploring the world through language and having a great time while doing it. So, what are you waiting for? Let's dive into the wonderful world of English together!篇6New Era Comprehensive Business English Textbook 1Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I'm going to tell you all about learning business English. It's super important for when we grow up and get jobs. My teacher says we have to start learning it now so we can be really good at it later.First of all, what even is business English? It's the kind of English that people use when they work at companies and have meetings and do important business stuff. It's a little different from the English we use when we're just talking to our friends and families. One big part of business English is giving presentations. Can you imagine having to get up in front of a whole bunch of grown-ups and talk for a long time without messing up? It's really hard! But my teacher is helping us practice. We have to make PowerPoint slides and everything.Another important thing is writing emails and letters. In the business world, you can't just send texts and emojis like we do with our friends. You have to write formal emails using fancy words and being super polite and professional. It's kind of funny to think about, but that's how it works!Speaking of fancy words, we're also learning a lot of business vocabulary. Words like "strategic", "revenue", "stakeholders"...I'm not even sure what some of them mean yet! But my teacher says we'll get the hang of it if we keep practicing.Oh, and get this - there are different styles of business English depending on what country you're in! Like, the way they speak in business meetings in America is a little bit different from England or Australia. We're mostly learning American business English in my class. My teacher says it's the most common.Another big focus is on business writing skills. We've been working on how to write reports, proposals, memos and all that important documentation that businesses need. It's a lot ofserious writing practice, not like the fun stories we normally do in English class. Then there are things like negotiating, networking, giving presentations...wow, now that I think about it, we're covering a ton of stuff! No wonder my teacher says mastering business English takes a long time. She makes us do roleplaying activities too, where we pretend to be bosses and employees. It's actually kind of fun to playact as a grown-up for a change. One more thing I'll mention - my teacher is really big on teaching us proper business etiquette and how to be professional. She's always reminding us to make eye contact, have a firm handshake, speak clearly and confidently. She says those little things make a huge impression in the business world.Phew, I could probably go on, but I think you get the idea! Learning business English is no joke. It's a whole different language in a lot of ways. We're just kids, but my teacher wants to make sure we get a really solid head start. Who knows, maybe some of us will grow up to be big business leaders or international entrepreneurs someday!Well, that's all I've got for now. Let me know if you have any other questions! I'll leave you with one of the fancy businesswords I've learned..."Synergy!" Yeah, I'm not totally sure what it means yet, but it sounds super important, doesn't it?。

Will your friends be there for you?1Friends also play a key role in helping us through the toughest times, of course.Socially isolated women with breast cancer are more likely to die from the illness because of the lack of care-giving and support from friends and family, according to a study at the University of California.'The benefits of friendships become even more important as we grow older, when events such as bereavement, divorce and people moving away, can reduce our social circle,' says clinical psychologist Sukie Bilkhu at Priory's Wellbeing Centre in Southampton. 'Close friendships provide us with an increased sense of belonging and self-worth that is incredibly important for our mental health and wellbeing.'What are your friendship needs?2Another factor to bear in mind is that we all have different friendship needs. 'The need for friends as we get older really varies according to each person's life experiences,' says Bilkhu. 'Some people value close-knit friends to help alleviate loneliness, while others feel happy and content in their own company. There are some who don't feel the need for any friendship "circles" as their immediate family fulfill this need. The key point is there isno "ideal" number of friends. What matters is the value a person places on friendships.'Interestingly, intelligence may also play a part in defining our friendship needs, according to a new study published in the British Journal of Psychology.Researchers found that the more social interactions with close friends a person had, the greater their self-reported happiness tended to be.Should you make more friends?3'The key is to explore what's really important in your life,' Bilkhu advises. 'If having large friendship circles isn't something that fulfils your psychological, physiological and emotional needs, you can explore other avenues instead. This might mean refreshing or rejuvenating your relationship with your partner or family, or developing relationships in other ways such as through music, writing, art, nature, healthy living or spirituality.' Indeed, having lots of friends doesn't necessarily make you happier or more fulfilled. It's worth remembering that friendships can also be a source of stress and conflict. Those old 'playground feelings' can still rear their heads on occasion: we've allfelt let-down, ignored or insulted (however mildly) by friends from time to time.So is it better to focus on a handful of close friendships? Or should we try to make new friends wherever we go? 'An alternative way to look at it is to be open to new possibilities of connecting with others,' says Bilkhu. 'As we grow older, we become stuck in our ways and can limit our potential for personal growth. So give yourself opportunities to "connect" wherever you are. And if friendships are high on your list of priorities, remain open to forging new ones. But remember, there are plenty of other ways to be happy and content.' Friends also play a key role in helping us through the toughest times, of course.

1How to Become a Good Youth in the New EraHi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm a 5th grader at Sunshine Elementary School. Today, I want to share with you all some thoughts on how we can become good youths in this new era we're living in. The world is changing so fast with new technologies and ideas emerging every day. As the future of society, us kids have an important role to play in shaping a better tomorrow.First off, we need to be students who love learning. With information just a few clicks away nowadays, gaining knowledge has never been easier. We're so lucky to have the internet, online libraries, video tutorials, and so many other amazing resources for studying any topic under the sun. My personal favorite is using educational apps to make learning feel like a game! However, it's not just about academics. We also need to learn skills for life - things like creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. These will help us becomewell-rounded individuals ready to take on any challenge. One way to practice is through group projects at school where we get to work together, share ideas, and find solutions as a team.Speaking of teamwork, that's another key part of being a good youth. We live in an interconnected world where we're all part of the global community. Working cooperatively and respecting different cultures, beliefs, and viewpoints is crucial for creating a harmonious society. A great way to experience diversity is by joining clubs or sports teams with kids from different backgrounds. Getting to know each other can really open our minds!Additionally, we should be enthusiastic about new technologies but use them responsibly. The internet, social media, smartphones - they make our lives so convenient but also pose risks like cyberbullying and internet addiction if misused. We need to learn digital literacy skills to navigate the online world safely and productively. At home, my parents have rules like no devices during mealtimes and limited daily screen time. It's also vital that we develop a caring attitude towards others and the environment around us. Simple acts of kindness and compassion can make a huge difference, whether it's volunteering for community service, cheering up a lonelyclassmate, or protecting nature by recycling. Whenever I see someone struggling with their heavy school bags, I always try to lend a hand. It makes me happy to help however I can.Speaking of the environment, climate change is a major challenge facing our generation. We need to be eco-warriors by adopting green habits like saving energy and water, reducing waste, and consuming sustainably. At school, our environmental club organizes activities like park clean-ups and tree planting drives which I absolutely love being part of! I feel proud knowing that even as kids, we're doing our part to protect Planet Earth.Lastly, to become truly good youths, we must not forget our cultural roots and moral values. Our rich heritage andtime-honored principles like honesty, integrity, and respect for elders are what define us and keep our society glued together. I attend weekly Chinese calligraphy classes where I get to understand the depth of my traditions. My grandparents also teach me important life lessons through ancient stories and proverbs. In essence, the recipe for being an awesome youth has many ingredients – a passion for learning, teamwork capabilities, digital smarts, empathy for all, environmental consciousness, and traditional virtues. It's a tough but exciting role to take on as we'llbe the trailblazers of tomorrow. However, I'm confident that with guidance from our teachers, parents, and communities, we can rise to the challenge! So let's all pledge to keep studying hard, exploring the world with open minds and hearts, and making ethical choices.Step-by-step, we'll pave the way towards a future of progress, inclusivity and sustainability for all. An incredible journey awaits us in this new era - who's ready to embark on it? This good youth is raring to go! Thank you!篇2Title: How to Become a Good Youth in the New EraDo you want to be a good youth in today's world? It's not as hard as you might think! All you need is to follow a few simple rules and tips, and you'll be well on your way to becoming a responsible, kind, and successful young person.First things first, let's talk about studying. I know, I know, studying can be boring sometimes, but it's really important! You see, the world is changing so fast, and you need to learn as much as you can to keep up. So, pay attention in class, do your homework, and don't be afraid to ask your teachers for help if you're stuck. Remember, knowledge is power! But being a good youth isn't just about getting good grades. It's also about being a good person. That means being kind to others, no matter what they look like or where they come from. It means standing up for your friends if they're being bullied, and never bullying others yourself. It means helping out around the house and being respectful to your parents and elders.Speaking of respect, it's also important to respect the environment. The world we live in is so beautiful, but it's also fragile. We need to do our part to take care of it. That means things like recycling, turning off lights when you leave a room, and not wasting water. It might seem like small things, but they add up and can make a big difference.Another important thing to remember is to stay healthy. That means eating lots of fruits and veggies, getting plenty of exercise, and getting enough sleep. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind, and that's important for learning and growing. As you get older, you'll have more and more opportunities to make a difference in the world. Maybe you'll want to volunteer for a cause you care about, or join a club or team that interests you. Whatever you choose, make sure it's something you're passionate about. That passion and drive will help you succeed and make a real impact. And speaking of making a difference, it's important to learn about the world around you and what's happening in it. Read the news (or have your parents read it to you if you're too young), watch documentaries, and ask questions. The more you know, the better equipped you'll be to tackle the challenges of the future. But perhaps the most important thing of all is to always stay true to yourself. Don't be afraid to be different or to stand up for what you believe in. The world needs more people who are willing to think for themselves and fight for what's right.Becoming a good youth in the new era isn't easy, but it's worth it. By studying hard, being kind, respecting the environment, staying healthy, having fun, getting involved, learning about the world, and staying true to yourself, you'll be well on your way to making a real difference. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start being the best youth you can be! The future is in your hands, and the world needs you.篇3Title: How to Become a Good Youth in the New EraHello there, my dear friends! Today, I'm going to share with you some tips on how to become a good youth in this exciting new era we live in. As young people, we have the power to shape the future and make a positive impact on the world around us. It's important that we strive to be the best versions of ourselves, not just for our own benefit, but also for the benefit of our families, communities, and the planet we call home.First and foremost, let's talk about education. You see, knowledge is the key that opens the doors to countless opportunities. We live in a time where information is readily available, thanks to the amazing invention of the internet and modern technology. However, it's crucial to remember that not everything we read or see online is true or accurate. That's why it's important to develop critical thinking skills and learn how to distinguish fact from fiction, truth from rumor. One way to do this is by paying close attention in school and actively participating in class discussions. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you don't understand something – that's how we learn and grow. Additionally, reading books from reputable sources can broaden our horizons and deepen our understanding of various subjects. But being a good youth isn't just about academics; it's also about developing strong moral values and good character. Honesty, kindness, respect, and empathy are qualities that we should all strive to possess. Treat others the way you want to be treated, and always be willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. One way to put these values into practice is by volunteering in your local community. Whether it's helping out at a food bank, cleaning up a park, or visiting the elderly at a nursing home, these acts of service not only benefit others but also teach us valuable lessons about compassion and selflessness.Another important aspect of being a good youth is taking care of our physical and mental health. Eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep are all crucial for our overall well-being. It's also important to find healthy ways to manage stress and prioritize self-care activities that bring us joy and relaxation. In this digital age, it's also essential to be mindful of our online presence and behavior. The internet can be a powerful tool for communication and learning, but it's important to use it responsibly and avoid engaging in cyberbullying or spreading harmful content. Remember, once something is posted online, itcan be challenging to remove it entirely, so it's best to think twice before hitting that "send" button.Furthermore, let's not forget about the importance of protecting our planet. Climate change and environmental degradation are serious issues that affect us all, and it's our responsibility as the younger generation to take action. Simple things like reducing our waste, conserving water and energy, and participating in sustainable practices can make a significant difference in preserving our planet for future generations. Finally, don't be afraid to dream big and pursue your passions. Whether you aspire to be a scientist, an artist, an entrepreneur, or anything else, believe in yourself and work hard to achieve your goals. Surround yourself with positive people who support and encourage you, and never give up on your dreams, even when faced with obstacles or setbacks. In conclusion, being a good youth in the new era means embracing education, developing strong moral values, taking care of our physical and mental health, using technology responsibly, protecting the environment, and pursuing our passions with determination and perseverance. It's a journey that requires effort and commitment, but the rewards areimmeasurable. Together, we can make a positive impact on the world and pave the way for a brighter future.Remember, my dear friends, the power to create change lies within each and every one of us. Let's embrace this new era with open minds, compassionate hearts, and a willingness to learn and grow. The world is ours to shape, and together, we can make it a better place for all.篇4Title: Being a Good Kid in Today's WorldHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. My name is Emily, and I'm a 5th grader at Sunnyville Elementary School. Today I want to talk to you about how to be a good youth in this new era we live in. It's an important topic because us kids are the future!First of all, what does it mean to be a "good youth"? I think it means being a kind, responsible, hardworking person who wantsto make the world a better place. It's about having good values and ethics to guide you.One of the most important things is to be a good student. Study hard, pay attention in class, do your homework, and get good grades. Education is so valuable! The more you learn, the more opportunities you'll have later in life. Don't be a troublemaker or class clown. Those kids might get some laughs, but they aren't focused on learning and bettering themselves.Along with academics, you need to develop good character. Be honest – never lie, cheat, or steal. Those are big no-nos. Treat everyone with kindness and respect, even if they are different from you. Don't bully others and stand up to bullies when you see it happening. Lend a helping hand to those in need whenever possible.Have integrity and stick to your principles. If you see someone doing something wrong, don't go along with it just to fit in. Have the courage to do what's right. But don't beself-righteous about it either – we all make mistakes sometimes and need second chances. It's also important to be a patriot who loves your country. Study its history, embrace its culture and traditions. But have a global perspective too – learn about other cultures and beopen-minded. Appreciating diversity makes you a better citizen of the world. As a good youth, take care of your health. Exercise regularly, eat a balanced and nutritious diet, get enough sleep, and avoid unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking, and doing drugs. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind that can focus better on your goals.Be an environmentally conscious citizen too. Reduce, reuse, recycle as much as possible. Plant trees, conserve water and electricity, and pick up litter. Taking care of our planet is everyone's responsibility – after all, we need to pass it on to future generations in good shape.Discover your passion and talents, whether it's art, music, sports, writing, or something else. Work hard to develop those skills and abilities. At the same time, try new things and keep an open mindset to explore different interests. Who knows, you might find your true calling in something unexpected!Good time management is key too. Make a schedule, set reminders, prioritize what's important, and don't procrastinate. But also remember to schedule fun, downtime, and relaxation –that's important for your mental health and to recharge. As you get older, start thinking about your future career goals. What kind of job would you find meaningful and fulfilling? What skills and education will you need? Make a plan to work towards that path step-by-step. Don't be afraid of failure either –it's how we learn and grow. Pick yourself up and try again.Lastly, have a spirit of service and give back to your community. Volunteer your time for good causes, help those in need, raise money and awareness for important issues. We all need to pitch in and do our part to make the world better. In this new era of technology and globalization, information moves at lightning speed across the world. We have to adapt and develop new skills like digital literacy to keep up. But remember to balance screen time with outdoor activities and face-to-face interactions too. Human connections are important. There are lots of challenges facing the world, from climate change and poverty to conflicts and injustice. As the next generation, we need to tackle these issues with innovative solutions and optimism. My name is Emma, and I'm an 11-year-old student in the 5th grade. Today, I want to share my thoughts on how we can become good youths in this new era we live in. It's an important topic because we're the future of our society, and we need to make sure we grow up to be responsible, caring, and successful individuals.First and foremost, we need to focus on our education. Education is the key to unlocking our potential and opening doors to a brighter future. We should always strive to do our best in school, pay attention in class, and complete our homework diligently. It's also essential to develop a love for learning and cultivate a curious mindset. We can do this by reading books, watching educational videos, and exploring new topics that interest us.Next, we should aim to be respectful and kind to everyone around us, regardless of their background, race, or beliefs. We live in a diverse world, and it's crucial to embrace and appreciate different cultures and perspectives. We can start by treating our classmates, teachers, and family members with kindness and respect. A simple act of kindness, like helping a friend with their homework or offering a seat to an elderly person on the bus, can go a long way in making the world a better place.Another important aspect of being a good youth is staying physically and mentally healthy. We shoul。

1Being a Good Student in the New TimesHi everyone! My name is Emily and I'm going to tell you all about being a good student nowadays. Being a good student is super important because school helps us learn and grow into awesome adults! But being a good student isn't just about getting good grades. There's a lot more to it than that. Let me explain!First of all, a good student has to be responsible. That means doing all your homework on time, being organized with your notebooks and school supplies, and listening carefully to your teachers. When the teacher gives instructions, you've got to pay attention instead of daydreaming or goofing around. That way you'll know exactly what to do and you won't miss any important stuff. It's also really important for a good student to participate in class. Don't just sit there like a zombie! When the teacher asks a question, raise your hand and answer. Even if you get it wrong, atleast you tried your best. And if you don't understand something, make sure to ask questions. Your teachers are there to help, so take advantage of that!Speaking of teachers, a good student is always respectful to them. You should say "please" and "thank you" and follow their rules in the classroom. Don't talk back, make fun of them, or do anything disruptive. That's not cool at all. Your teachers work hard to help you learn, so you need to show them appreciation and be a polite, well-behaved student. But being a good student isn't just about what happens at school. You also need to have good study habits at home. After you get home from school, don't just plop yourself in front of the TV or play video games right away! Set aside time every day to review your lessons and do your homework. Find a quiet spot free from distractions so you can concentrate properly. If you're having trouble with a subject, don't get frustrated. Instead, ask your parents or an older sibling to help explain it to you. Or maybe set up a study group with friends so you can work together. The more you practice, the better you'll get! Just don't give up or start slacking off.Another important part of being a good student is reading, reading, and more reading! The more you read, whether it'sbooks, magazines, or newspapers, the smarter you'll become. You'll learn new vocabulary words, discover fascinating facts about the world, and exercise your brain. Reading is like a workout for your mind! So always make time for it.Good students also take care of their health. That means eating a balanced diet with fruits, veggies, lean protein, and whole grains. Drink plenty of water and get enough sleep at night. Don't stay up too late watching TV or playing games. Your body and brain need rest to recharge for the next day of school! Exercise is important too. Run around, play sports, stay active. A healthy body leads to an alert mind that's ready to learn. In today's world, good students need to know about technology too. You should know how to use a computer for research, typing up assignments, and learning coding. But be careful not to spend too much time on videogames, social media, or just mindlessly browsing the internet. That's mostly a waste of time that won't help you be a better student. Finally, a good student today needs to learn about being a good citizen too. That means understanding ethics, having strong values like honesty and integrity, and caring about making the world a better place. Good students volunteer to help others in their community. They recycle and take care of theenvironment. They respect people from all backgrounds and cultures. Being a truly good student means being a good human being!Phew, that's a lot to think about, huh? But don't get discouraged. Just take it one step at a time and always put in your best effort. Being a good student takes hard work, discipline, and responsibility, but it's so worth it. If you build good habits now, you'll carry them into middle school, high school, college, and beyond. Who knows, you might even become a scientist, doctor, artist, engineer, or leader someday! The new era we're living in is changing fast with new technology and big challenges facing the world. That's why we need outstanding students more than ever before. Students who are knowledgeable, innovative, ethical, and ready to make a positive difference. By following the advice I gave about being a stellar student, you'll gain valuable skills to prepare you for an amazing future. Just believe in yourself, stay dedicated, and never stop learning and growing. You've got this!篇2Being a Good Student in the New EraHi there! My name is Emily and I'm a 5th grader at Sunnydale Elementary School. Today, I want to talk to you about what it means to be a good student in this new and exciting era we live in. Things are changing so fast with all the new technology, but that just makes learning even more fun and important!First off, a good student has to be curious and love learning. We're so lucky to have the internet these days where we can explore almost any topic imaginable at our fingertips. Whether it's looking up fun facts about dinosaurs, researching a science fair project, or teaching yourself coding, there's always something new to discover. A curious mind is a key ingredient to being a stellar student.Speaking of technology, another part of being a good 21st century student is being tech savvy. We use computers and tablets for so much of our schoolwork nowadays. Lots of our textbooks and materials are online. Knowing how to effectively search the internet, use educational apps and software, and create presentations is crucial. Tech skills will continue to be more and more important as we get older too. However, it's also vital that we don't get too distracted by video games, social media, and YouTube. As fun as those things are, we have to learn self-control and time management. Settinglimits and balancing technology time with other important stuff like studying, reading, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with friends is the way to go.While technology is awesome, we also have to keep working on basics like reading, writing, and math. These foundational skills will never go out of style no matter how much the world changes. Every career path and life path requires solid literacy and numeracy. When we read books, write stories, or solve math problems, we exercise our brains and become smarter!Another quality I think makes someone a good student is being a great listener and follower of directions. Our teachers work really hard to prepare engaging lessons for us. The least we can do is listen carefully, participate in class, and follow all the directions they give us. Whenever I'm confused about an assignment, I always make sure to raise my hand and ask questions too! There's no such thing as a stupid question. One of the most important things about being a student in today's world is being a good cooperator and collaborator. We do a lot of group projects and work together in partners or small teams. You have to learn how to communicate respectfully, consider other viewpoints, delegate tasks, and combineeveryone's efforts. Cooperation and strong social skills are what employers are looking for now more than ever. It's also awesome that because of technology, we can collaborate beyond just our classroom! Students in my school have gotten to work on exciting group projects with other classes in different cities and even different countries through video conferences and shared online workspaces. How cool is that? The world is feeling smaller and more connected.Hand-in-hand with collaboration goes creativity and critical thinking. Jobs that involve repetitive tasks that follow the same routines are quickly becoming outdated. Employers want people who can analyze situations from different angles, come up with innovative solutions, and think outside the box. That's why in my classes, we're always being encouraged to explore our creativity and explain our reasoning. For instance, in science we'll learn concepts and then have to design our own experiments to test them. In writing, we read examples but then get to make up our own creative stories. Even in math, we can't just simply follow procedures, but have to figure out which strategies and formulas to apply to solve each unique problem. Every assignment gives our brains a workout!Another thing I really value about school today is the emphasis on social-emotional learning. We don't just focus on academic skills, but also work on building qualities likeself-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and responsible decision-making. Throughout the week we have community circles, mindfulness activities, and lessons on recognizing our emotions, managing stress, and resolving conflicts in a healthy way.I know how fortunate I am to be getting a well-rounded education that prepares me for the real world. For instance, we learn a lot about staying physically healthy through science class, gym, and nutrition lessons. We also learn about being ethical digital citizens and how to spot misinformation online. Schools are definitely evolving to equip the new generation with all the skills we'll need as adults. That brings me to another characteristic of an awesome student - being a caring citizen who wants to make the world a better place! Especially as we study issues like climate change and social injustice, we're encouraged to get involved, to recycle, to uplift others, and be part of the solution. My class did a service learning project last year where we collected canned goods forthe local food bank and it felt so meaningful to give back to those in need.Overall, I'd summarize that a stellar student in this new era has to be passionate about lifelong learning, tech capable, balanced in their use of technology, strong in the fundamentals, a stellar listener and follower of directions, a fantastic teammate and collaborator, creative and critical thinking, self-aware and socially skilled, caring about their community and the world, and physically and emotionally healthy. Phew, that's a lot!I still have so much more growing and learning to do, but I'm really excited about my educational journey. I have amazing teachers who make learning engaging and relevant. I get to satisfy my curiosity while also preparing for future careers that may not even exist yet! My generation is being equipped with the tools and mindset we'll need to conquer all the challenges and opportunities ahead. The world is rapidly evolving, but us students are evolving even faster. The future is pretty bright when you think about it. Hard work and lifelong learning will allow us to adapt and thrive no matter what changes come our way. Being a student is the best!篇3Being a Good Student in the New EraHi everyone! My name is Emma and I'm going to tell you all about being a great student these days. It's pretty cool being a kid now compared to how things were a long time ago. With all the new technology and focus on being a well-rounded person, the definition of a "good student" has changed a lot. Let me explain what I mean!First off, you have to be really good at using computers, tablets, and the internet for school work. Back in the day, students just had to write with pencils and pens and look stuff up in big, dusty books at the library. How boring is that?! Nowadays, we have the entire world's information at our fingertips on the internet. We can watch videos to learn about any topic, use online simulations and games for interactive learning, and even attend some classes virtually from home.To be a good student, you have to know how to properly research things online, create presentations and documents on a computer, and communicate with teachers and classmates digitally. My parents are always reminding me to avoid distractions like games and social media when I need to focus on schoolwork. Self-control on tech is key!Another major part of being a stellar student today is having good creativity and collaboration skills. The jobs of the future will require a lot of innovative thinking and working together on projects. That's why at school we get assigned a ton of group projects and open-ended assignments where there isn't just one right answer. We have to put our minds together, think outside the box, and come up with our own creative solutions and ideas. In class, we learn techniques like brainstorming, mind mapping, and design thinking to spark innovation. We also do a lot of presentations, team building exercises, and discussions to practice communicating our thoughts and cooperating. I used to get annoyed by all the group work, but now I realize how important it is to prepare me for my career one day.Being a good citizen and human being is a huge part of success nowadays too. Schools don't just care about teaching us academics and job skills, but also how to be well-rounded people with strong values. Every day we learn about important stuff like:• Environmental protection and sustainability• Respecting diversity and different cultures• Physical and mental wellness through exercise, nutrition, emotional skills etc.• Digital citizenship and online safety• Financial literacy• Creativity and problem solvingThese "soft skills" are just as important as the core subjects like math, science, language arts etc. We have classes focused on this kind of stuff and it's integrated into our regular lessons too. For example, in science we learn about climate change and in history we study different cultures around the world. We also do a ton of community service projects and volunteering to give back and be caring citizens. Just last month, my class worked on beautifying a local park by planting trees and flowers. We had to research sustainable plant options and learn how to properly plant and care for them. It was hard work but I felt really good about helping my community!I'll be honest, all these extra responsibilities we have as students today can sometimes feel overwhelming. Between core academics, using technology, developing innovation skills, soft skills, and service learning, we have a lot on our plates! Sometimes I get stressed out juggling it all. That's why time management, balance, and healthy habits are also crucial parts篇4Being a Good Student in the New EraHi friends! My name is Li Ming and I'm a primary school student. Today I want to talk to you about what it means to be a good student these days. Things are changing so quickly with new technology and ideas everywhere. The world is quite different from when our parents and grandparents were young! So what does it take to be a good student in this new era? Let me share my thoughts with you.First of all, being a good student means being curious and always wanting to learn new things. In the past, students just had to listen to the teacher and memorize what was in the textbooks. But now with the internet, we can explore any topic that interests us and find information from all over the world! We have to be active learners, asking questions and seeking out knowledge on our own. The teachers are still there to guide us, but we need to drive our own learning too.For example, in science class we were learning about renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. I thought itwas fascinating, so I went online and found videos explaining how the technology works. I even built a little wind turbine model at home using recycled materials! Getting hands-on and really diving deep into subjects will help the lessons stick in our minds better.Speaking of technology, that's another big part of being a modern student. We have to be skilled篇5My Big Dream to Be a Great Student!Hi friends! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I'm a 5th grade student at Sunnyville Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about my big dream to be a really great student in these exciting new times we live in!I love going to school and learning new things every day. My favorite subjects are math, science, and reading. I work really hard in all my classes because I know that getting a good education is super important. The world is changing so fast with all the new technologies. I want to learn as much as I can so I can grow up to have an amazing career and make the world a better place. My parents always tell me that back when they were kids, there was no internet or smartphones or anything like that. Can you even imagine?! Nowadays, us kids are so lucky to have all these incredible tools at our fingertips to help us learn. In class, we use computers and tablets for all kinds of interactive lessons and activities. My math teacher puts fun games on the smartboard that help us practice our multiplication tables. In science, we wear virtual reality goggles to go on field trips to explore the human body or outer space from our classroom! How cool is that?Technology definitely makes learning way more exciting and fun compared to the old days of just reading from textbooks all day. But even with all these great high-tech tools, being a stellar student still takes a lot of hard work, focus, and discipline.Every night, I spend a few hours digging into my homework assignments and prepping for upcoming tests and quizzes. I make sure to take excellent notes in class, ask my teachers lots of questions if I'm confused about something, and always turn in my projects on time. Whenever I'm feeling stuck, I don't just give up. I use all the incredible online learning resources to try and figure it out myself first. But if I'm still having trouble after that, Ialways ask my parents or teachers for some extra help to make sure I really understand.Another key part of being an amazing student is participating a ton both in class and in extracurricular activities. I love raising my hand to answer questions and share my thoughts during lessons. I'm also the captain of my school's math competition team and science fair club. Doing all these academic activities is so much fun and really helps reinforce everything I'm learning.Outside of academics, I try my best to be a good citizen and positive influence at my school. I'm a safety patrol monitoring the hallways to make sure everyone follows the rules. I also volunteer to tutor younger students who need some extra help with their reading and writing skills. Giving back to my community and looking out for others is really important to me.My biggest goal is to get into an awesome university someday so I can continue exploring all my biggest interests and passions. With the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, sustainable energy solutions, and so many other groundbreaking fields, I'm beyond excited to see what the future holds. I dream of maybe becoming a scientist or engineer to helpcreate incredible new technologies that could vastly improve people's lives all across the planet.Of course, the road ahead won't be easy. I'll need to continue working harder than ever, believing in myself, and never giving up no matter how tough things get. But I know that if I stay focused, disciplined, and keep following my passion for knowledge, I can achieve anything I set my mind to. The world is filled with infinite possibilities for this new generation of students. We just need to dream big and never stop striving to be the best we can be!So that's my story, friends! I'm just a regular kid who loves learning and wants to make a difference. In this amazing new era we live in, the sky is the limit for students like me who are eager to gain knowledge and use it to create an even brighter tomorrow. Here's to us, the leaders of the future! Let's go out and show the world what we've got!。

I just moved here from my old town over the summer and everything is so different and new. Starting at a brand new school has been really difficult for me so far.Back in my old town, I went to the same little school with the same kids since kindergarten. Everyone knew me and I knew all my classmates and teachers really well. We were all friends. The school building was small and cozy and felt just like a second home to me after being there for so many years. But now everything has changed so much. Oakwood Elementary is huge! The building seems like a giant maze with never-ending hallway after hallway. I get lost trying to find my classes every single day still. There are so many new faces everywhere I look - it's overwhelming with hundreds of other students I don't know.In my classes, I'm struggling to make any friends at all so far. During recess and lunch, I've tried introducing myself to the other kids, but they all already have their friend groups that they've known forever. They don't really seem interested in letting me into their circles. I end up spending most of recess and lunch periods alone on the playground or in the cafeteria. It's really lonely.I was always one of the top students back at my old school, but I'm having such a hard time keeping up with the work here at Oakwood Elementary. The material seems a lot more difficult and the teachers go through it way faster than I'm used to. I've already failed a couple quizzes and tests which never used to happen to me before. At home, I've been feeling really sad, anxious, and upset about going to my new school every day. I have a pit of dread in my stomach each morning getting ready for school. Some nights I've even cried to my parents about how miserable I am and asking if we can please move back to our old town.My parents keep trying to be supportive and encourage me to just "give it more time." But it's been over a month already and I'm not adjusting at all. I'm not sure what to do anymore. I hate feeling this way but I don't know how to make things better. If you're a kid in a similar situation who has struggled with a new school too, here are some suggestions that might help based on what I'm trying now:Take it one day at a time. As hard as it is, try not to look too far ahead and overwhelm yourself. Just focus on getting through each day one at a time without thinking about the entire year ahead. Take little steps.Get involved in after-school activities. My mom signed me up for the school art club since I've always loved drawing and painting. It gives me something to look forward to and a chance to meet other kids with similar interests slowly.Keep trying to make friends, even if it's hard at first. I'm going to keep waving hi and introducing myself to the kids in my classes and at lunch. Maybe we can start chatting about our favorite games, movies, YouTubers or anything else we might have in common. Friendships can take time to build.Don't be afraid to ask your teacher(s) for extra help. I've started staying after class to ask my math teacher to walk through some problems I'm struggling with. The teachers want to see you succeed - let them help if you need it.Talk to your parents or trusted adults about your feelings. Keeping your worries bottled up inside can make them seem even bigger. My parents and I have daily check-ins about how my day went so I can discuss my concerns.Give it time, but don't be afraid to speak up if things don't improve. If I'm still feeling the same way after really committing to making changes after a few more months, I may ask my parents to consider transferring me to another school. But I'm going to try my best to allow plenty of time to adjust first.I know starting over somewhere completely new is hard, but I'm hopeful that if I keep working at it each day, things will eventually fall into place and get easier. This is a huge transition, so I need to go easy on myself. If I can keep an open mind, stay involved, and give it my best effort, I'm sure I'll start feeling more settled and making friends here soon enough. After all, this is my new school home for the next few years at least, so I have to make the most of it while I can!篇2Having a Hard Time Adjusting to My New SchoolMy name is Timmy and I'm in the 4th grade. I just started at a brand new elementary school this year because my family movedto a different town over the summer. I was really excited to make new friends and start fresh, but it's been much harder than I expected to adjust to my new school. I'm having a pretty tough time and I'm not sure what to do.At my old school, I had been there since kindergarten so I knew all the rules and routines like the back of my hand. The building felt like a second home and all the teachers and staff knew me really well. I had my close group of friends that I had known forever and we did everything together at school. Leaving all that behind has been really difficult. This new school is so different and unfamiliar. The building is huge with long hallways and stairways everywhere. I get lost trying to find my classrooms at least once a day. All the procedures are different too. We have a different schedule, different lunch times, different rules about when we can go to the bathroom or nurse, it's just all brand new to me. I've felt really confused and out of place these first few weeks.I also haven't had an easy time making new friends yet. At my old school, everyone already knew me and I knew them, so we could just pick up where we left off each year. But here I'm the new kid that no one knows. During recess and lunch, I see all the other kids who already have their friend groups and theyaren't really making an effort to include me. A couple times I've tried joining in when other kids were playing ball or something, but they haven't been very welcoming. I've ended up spending a lot of recesses just walking around alone. In class hasn't been much better either. I'm a pretty good student and want to participate, but I've felt too shy to raise my hand much because I don't know anyone yet. I sit alone and keep to myself instead of trying to talk to the kids around me. I'm honestly pretty lonely most of the school day.Even just simple things like using a new laptop and learning new technology has been tricky. At my old school, I knew which websites we used for everything and all the usernames and passwords. Now I have to learn a whole new system for doing online assignments, taking quizzes, accessing ebooks, etc. No matter how many times the teacher goes over it, I still feel lost.I've also really missed my friends from my old school. We used to do everything together - sit together at lunch, play together at recess, have sleepovers every few weekends. Now I hardly get to see them since they live pretty far away. We've tried setting up some video calls, but it's just not the same as being together in person. I'm scared we're going to drift aparteventually since we're not hanging out all the time like we used to.My parents keep telling me "Don't worry, it just takes time to adjust" and "You'll make new friends soon." And I know they're right, but it's been over a month already and I'm still having just as hard of a time as those first couple weeks. I'm trying my best but I still feel like I stick out like a sore thumb everywhere I go in this new school. I'm really struggling.I get good grades and I'm a well-behaved kid, so the actual school work and following rules isn't the issue. It's more the whole social side of starting over somewhere brand new that has me feeling anxious, sad, and left out every day. I miss how comfortable and confident I felt at my old school. Here I'm just a tiny fish in a huge pond.My parents had to move for my dad's new job, so going back to my old school isn't an option. I'm really going to have to figure out how to make this new school work for me. I don't want to be that shy loner kid having a terrible time all year. I need to put myself out there more, but it's scary. Maybe I'll ask my teacher for advice on making friends or joining an after-school activity. Getting involved in something could help me start meeting people with similar interests.Or maybe I'll make a point to try striking up conversations with the kids sitting near me in class, even though it makes me nervous. We might find we have things in common once we start talking. I could ask them what they like to do for fun or what games they're playing at recess. Putting myself out there little by little could make篇3Feeling Lost at My New SchoolI never imagined how hard it could be starting at a new school. Over summer break, my family moved to a different neighborhood. That meant I had to leave my old school with all my friends and start fresh somewhere new. I was really excited at first, thinking it would be an adventure to make new friends and experience a different school. But it's been a few months now, and I'm just feeling more and more lost and out of place every day.The first big challenge was simply finding my way around the unfamiliar building and grounds. My old school was pretty small with just one main hallway, so I never got lost or disoriented there. This new school is huge! There are multiple floors, dozens of classrooms, and even buildings separated for different grades. It took me forever just to learn where my homeroom class was located, never mind trying to find the cafeteria, gym, library, and all my other classes. I still sometimes wander the halls hopelessly looking for the right room number.Figuring out the teachers has been really hard too. At my last school, I knew all the teachers really well, even the ones I didn't have for class that year. They all knew me and my family too. But here, every teacher is a total stranger. I haven't really clicked with my main teacher yet, and I'm too shy to go talk to her about anything after class. And I have different teachers for all my other subjects like art, music, and P.E., instead of just having the one main teacher like before. There are so many new grown-ups to get used to!Then there are the academics. Even though I'm in the same grade, this school moves at a different pace and has different standards than my old one. I was an excellent student before who always knew what was going on. But now I feel perpetually behind, like I'm struggling to catch up. For example, we started a new math unit recently covering stuff my class hasn't learned yet. I've been completely lost during those lessons. I'm afraid to raise my hand and ask questions because I don't want to look dumb in front of all the new kids. It's really stressing me out.Speaking of the other kids, making new friends has definitely been the biggest obstacle so far. Everyone already seems to have their established friend groups, and I'm just a random new kid trying to fit in. It's really cliquey and hard to find my place. Sometimes I'll try to join other kids at lunch or recess, but I always feel like a third wheel who doesn't really belong. I'm a pretty shy person anyway, so it's been extremely difficult putting myself out there constantly just to be rejected or ignored.I had a solid group of best friends at my old school who I miss terribly. We did everything together and told each other all our secrets. Here, I spend most of my time alone. Lunch period is the worst – I hate having to wander around holding my tray looking for a friendly face or empty seat. Sometimes I just hide in the bathroom until the bell rings to avoid sitting all alone. It's really lonely. The academics are hard, but feeling socially isolated and left out is definitely the toughest part for me. I never realized how much I took my old friends for granted until I lost that constant support system. I used to be such a happy, confident kid. But not fitting in is really starting to hurt my self-esteem and enjoyment of school. I'm always anxious about doing or saying the wrong thing in front of the other kids. Simple things like where to sit, what to wear, and who to talk to can seem so overwhelming now. I'm a total outsider, and it really weighs on me.My parents keep telling me to be patient and that it will get easier with time as I get more comfortable. And I'm trying, I really am. I get to school early to familiarize myself with the layout. I'm putting in extra effort on my homework so I don't fall behind. I keep encouraging myself to take risks and put myself out there socially. But it's been months and I'm just not adapting as quickly as I'd hoped.Every day is still met with the same challenges of feeling lost, overlooked, and disconnected at school. Sometimes I cry at home after holding it together all day at school. I miss my old friends desperately. I miss feeling like I belonged somewhere. I'm definitely struggling with this new environment and inability to adapt.I know my parents had good reasons for moving, even if it disrupted my life. And in my heart I know that eventually I'll adjust to everything here through perseverance and time. It's just hard to keep up that positive attitude shift after shift when you feel like such an outsider.I'm really hoping that over this next year, I can start finding my footing more. I'd love to find at least one good friend whogets me and who I connect with. I'm sure once I make those kinds of social bonds andget comfortable with the new routines, everything else will gradually fall into place. Passing time always makes the unfamiliar start to feel familiar. At least that's what I'm telling myself to get through this very difficult transition. My parents said changing schools is one of the hardest things kids go through. Never did I imagine just how true that would be for me. But I'm trying to have faith that one day, hopefully soon, this new school won't feel so new. It will start feeling like my school – a place I finally belong. Until then, I'll just keep swimming against this current of uncertainty and loneliness. One day at a time is all I can manage right now. I have to believe I'll get there eventually and adapt. I'm a smart, resilient kid, even if I don't quite feel that way lately. This too shall pass. I just have to keep pushing through.。

Help Yourself through the Hard Times1、Some years ago I had what most would call the American Dream: a thriving construction business, a comfortable home, two new cars and a sailboat. Moreover, I was happpily married. I had it all.

2、Then the stock market crashed, and suddenly no one was looking at the houses I’d built.Months of murderous interest payment gobbled up my savings. I couldn’t make ends meet and lay awake nights in a cold sweat. Just when I though things couldn’t get worse, my wife announced that she wanted a divorce.

3、With no i dea what to do next, I resolved literally to “sail off into the sunset,” following the coastline from Connecticut to Florida. But somewhere off New Jersey I turned due east, straight out to sea. Hours later, I climbed up on the stern rail and watched the dark Atlantic slip beneath the hull. How easy it would be to let the water take me, I thought.

4、Suddenly the boat plummeted between two swells, knocking me off balance. I grabbed the rail, my feet dragging in icy brine, and just managed to haul myself back on board. Shaken, I thought, what’s happening to me? Idon’t want to die. From that moment, I knew I had to see things through. My old lif e was gone. Somehow I’d have to build a new one.

5、Everyone, at some point, will suffer a loss-the loss of loved ones. Good health, a job. “It’s your desert experience’-a time of feeling barren of options, even hope,” explains Patrick Ddl Zoppo, a psychologist and bereavement specialist with the Archdiocese of New York. “The important thing is not to allow yourself to be stranded in the dese rt.”

6、Let Y ourself Grieve. Counelors agree that a period of grieving is critical. “There’s no shame in this,” says Del Zoppo. “Tears aren’t a sign that you’re simply feeling sorry for yourself but are expression of sadness or emotion that must find an outlet.”

7、And it doesn’t matter if the grieving takes a while to surface, as long as it finally finds expression. Consider the case of Donna Kelb of Syracuse, N.Y. One spring day her 16-year-old son, Cliff, Jr. and 15-year-old son, Jimmy, were sanding their boat, preparing it for the season. Suddenly Donna heard a scream. Rushing outside, she found her two sons lying on the ground near the boat.

8、Jimmy had gone into the water and returned dripping wet. When he picked up the sander, he was electrocuted. Cliff, knocked to the ground by the current when he tried to grab the tool, recovered.

9、Donna was so numbed by thi s tragedy that she didn’t cry for weeks-not even at the funeral, Then back at work one day, she began to feel dizzy. “Finally I went home, locked myself in my room and just wailed.” she says, “it was as though this great weight was being lifted from my sho ulders.”

10、What Kelb, experienced after her tragic loss was what Del Zoppo calls a “first-line defense that shields the consciousness from some extremely unpl easant reality.” Kelb couldn’t begin her healing process until nature had allowed her time to sort out her tragedy.

11、Understand Your Anger. “Anger is natural.”says Del Zoppo, “b ut it can be released in a wholesome way.” Properly understand, it can serve your recovery.

12、Candace Bracken’s future seemed full of promise. The 25-year-old airline hemorrhaging uncontrollably. Acute leukemia was diagnosed, and Bracken was of myself, lived a straignt and narrow life,” says Bracken was given two weeks to live. After the initial shock, she felt angry. “I had taken care of myself, lived a straight and narrow life,” says Bracken of Miami. “Things like this weren’t supposed to happen to people like me.”
