Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?Because modern life is very complex, it is essential for young people to have the ability to plan and e specific reasons and examples to support your answer. 1: Increasingly sophisticated technology, explosive information and intricate international relationships all work together to complicate the modern life, which makes our modern people somewhat overwhelmed. Individuals whoever want to have a better control of one’s life must equip themselves with some essential skills or abilities. Planning and organizing, which embodies the skill of anticipating, influencing, and controlling, in my view, is becoming gradually important in coping with today’s complication especially for the young who are always the most passionate but also with less self-control. First of all, planning helps keep one on coursein achieving goals and crystallize objectives. Young people always possess some grand dreams which may take years to accomplish. Planning ahead, on the one hand, could effectively put one on the right track thus prevent energy from being scattered or wasted. A survey conducted by experts from Oxford University shows that over 90% of elites and enterprisers had precise objects and made plans for decades later at very young age. Like Bill Gates, one of the most prominent persons I have ever seen, discontinued their studies since he was definite aware of what he should do in orderto become the leader of IT field. On the other hand, plans, which are organized stepby step, could turn the ultimate goals into several achievable ones. With achievable objective achieved one by one, the ultimate goal will finally be attained. Besides, planning and organizing help to promise one’s best performance in most occasions. Panning means trying to anticipate all the possibilities and arrange things in a scientific order. It clearly tells people what to do currently and what should do the next, which prevents disorder or chaos. Thus, people may feel assured and will be with less stress. For example, a student who sticks to a study plan is less likely to be nervous thus will be more likely to have better performance than those who crams for tests. Today youngsters are exposed with fierce competitions but also abundant opportunities. Good performance is key to hold these opportunities in hand. It is undeniable that our society changes at such a quick pace that we cannot plan everything in previous. But this by no means implies that the ability is not important. Without a plan, complex things will only get more complicated. Abraham Lincoln reportedly once said, “If I had 60 minutes to cut down a tree, I would spend40 minutes sharpening the ax and 20 minutes cutting it down.” Planning is just like “sharpening the ax”, which will no doubt facilitate a task easy done. All in all, though the ability of planning and organizing may not be omnipotent for peopleespecially the young to cope with new situations in today’s complex society, it does facilitate to fulfill one’s life goals and help to improve one’s performance when opportunities come. 2: The contemporary society is made more complicated and complex by the information technology. While many adolescents think highly of a casual lifestyle without well set schedules, since it’s more convenient and comfortable, I personally believe that it is indispensable for the young generation to learn to adapt to the fast-changing world by developing the competence of planning and organizing. First and foremost, strong arrangement capability boosts academic results of the youthful. The contemporary society requires these young students to learn multiple disciplines simultaneously, so they have to take full advantage of their limited time which needs to be well distributed to each subject according to difficulty and score proportion. Otherwise, they may waste the majority of time lost in fear and anxiety and find it hard to concentrate in the library for a long period, the negative influences of which can be weariness, dropouts, and then limited career prospects. Secondly, mapping out ahead of time helps the immature to manage their personal finance and avert excessive consumption. Taking my personal shopping experience as an example. Once I went to a shopping mall in the city center without making a list of commodities because I thought I could remembered them when I was in the stores. Unfortunately, I was dazzled by a wide range of merchandises and I spent a total of three hours wandering in the streets only to find myself forgetting the targeted products while purchasing many unnecessary goods. If I paid efforts to plan forehead, it could take me only an hour to buy all the required items home without being attempted to pay for discount articles. In a conclusion, the abilities to plan and organize serve as a vital catalyst for juveniles’ outstanding academic performance and capital management which are requisites for the survival in the present world.

Some people believe that when busy parents do not have a lot of time to spend with their children, the best use of that time is to have fun playing games or sports. Others believe that it is best to use that time doing things together that are related to schoolwork. Which of the two approaches do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. 1: In recent years, there has been a trend among busy parents toward utilizing spare time to have fun such as arts and sports, because these entertainment activities do not have a direct relation with children’s schoolwork. It lies in the fact that education is valuable by people only when it improves students’ academic record. Although playing games and sport are not directly related to academic record, these entertainment activities have countless benefits to students’ success in their future careers. The idea that sport is important to children’s development has been widely accepted. First of all, sport can enhance intelligence. Playing games enables children to know how to coordinate different parts of their bodies. The advantage is that children who can use sport instruments proficiently cab juggle different task in their adulthood. Playing games can foster the culture of cooperation among teenagers as they are required to collaborate with each other in a basketball team or a football team. Playing games is also considered as a healthy way of relieving stress, because it can lighten one’s mood and reduce anxiety. Playing games also has a beneficial effect on children’s physical and mental health. Children who engage in physical activity can constantly maintain a healthy weight and have stamina to handle their schoolwork. This is particularly important, considering that young people are increasingly addicted to the sedentary activity, such as watching TV. Furthermore, children who exercise habitually normally have a positive attitude to life, which enables them to cope with stress easily. Therefore, we can see how important some non-academic activities can be to students’ future career success. Sports and playing games can develop students’ intellectual skills and social skills, while they are able to improve students’ physical health and self-esteem. 2: It is common that parents now are suffering great pressures from their work and are left with less time to be with their children. So, the problem comes: how to utilize this precious parent-child time? From my perspective, I prefer to spend this time having fun with my kids. First of all, under the advanced and comprehensive educational mechanism, children are able to perform schoolwork without the help fromtheir parents. So, there is no need for parents to spend too much time with their children doing something related to schoolwork. For example, each student is assigned with an advisor. And no matter what questions a student encounter in his/her study,he/she can ask for help from the advisor. Also, many schools now are offering students with multi-functional platform to have discussion and conduct QA session with teachers online. It is obvious that there is no need for parents to get involved in children’s schoolwork. In addition, students are now facing with great stressesand many of them have to take various extra-curricular courses. So, having fun with parents plays a more important role in their life. Activities such as playing basketball or guessing game can significantly release their pressures and have good refreshment. For example, every night after I finish my homework, my father wouldlike to play chess with me. This kind of father-daughter time can always help me getrid of all my annoyance and troubles. It is clearly that having fun with parents matters a lot to children. Furthermore, having fun of playing sports can enable students to strengthen their bodies and build their muscles. Only with healthy bodycan students pursue their goals and achieve success. For example, it is often reportedthat some students fail to start their career due to their poor health condition. So, parents are supposed to spend more time with kids to participate in more sports. In a nutshell, engaging in some non-academic activities plays an important role in students’ life. Playing sports and games can help students relieve their pressuresand strengthen their bodies.

These are several viewpoints on the implications of technological change and advancement and such schools of thought which considerably vary have their respective validity. Technological change has its advantages and disadvantages. For one, it is true that it partly solves problems and makes life better. At the same time, technological changes may likely create new problems thereby threatening or damaging quality of life. In the developing economies, for instance, technological advantages has both its merits and demerits. The introduction and seeming acceptability and usefulness of computers have somehow helped increase the efficiency of several firms. It is not only in the industrial sector that technological change proven to be very effective. In the agricultural sector, for example, theintroduction of new technologies in increasing production has been very effective in expanding agricultural produce. These are just a fewexamples to illustrate the advantages of technological advancement. On the other hand, countries should be more careful on their choice of technology since it must be noted that while certain types of technology are adaptable to developed economies the same type of technology may not fit the environment of developing countries due to differing economic, social, cultural, and political factors. For example, infrastructure improvements such as a construction of irrigation dam in the mountains of the Philippines where several natives reside may likely be resisted by the population due to cultural factors. They may prefer not to have such improvements in view of traditional values. Another example is the pollution impact of some technological improvements particularly in the industrial sectors. The choice and adaptability of new technology should therefore be carefully studied. The short, medium, and long term impact of such technology is very important particularly for developing economies. The benefits should always be greater than the costs.I am inclined to support both positions because both views have their own validity. However, I am more convinced that technological advancement is beneficial to countries so long as they are aware of the disadvantages of such technology. Nowadays,we are in an age of technological revolutions. Many conveniences have been brought to us by technology and science. I agree with the statement that technology has made the world abetter place to live. The reasons and examples are chiefly as follows:The developments of compudters and internet have improved our life styles puters have changed our traditional ways of reading and writing, which bring us great convenience. The combanation of computers and internet has made our living quite different from before. Elecotronic mail is a useful example: computer users can communicate with one another across the globe. Electronic mail is particularly beneficial for language students. Learners can enjoy language exchange with native speakers through electronic mail.Another good example is the invention of automobiles. Actually automobiles have been an integral part of everyindustrial economy. Many people use an automobile to get to work, many others - trademan, salesman, taxi drivers, police men - use automobiles as part of their work. On a larger scale, car production is possibly the most important element of national industrial performance. All in all, it is incrediable to imagine a mordern world will be like without anutomobiles.Likewise, international jet transport has had some revolutioanry effects on our lifestyles.Beacause the high speed and relatively low costs of this type of travel, it has changed the way people look at the world. Today the world is much smaller than it was in the past.Adimittedly, technological advances also caused so unpleasant effects such as pollution of automobile exhaust fumes, and noise of transport vechiels. But as people have realized those problems and are trying to find ways to solve them, on the whole, I believe thatn thechnology has made the world a better place to live. Standing at the turn of the new century, we observe the twentieth century as a great advance in technology. With those advances, human lives have changed dramatically. In some ways, life is worse, but mostly, it is better. So personaly speaking, I am, and probably will always be, one of those who agree with the idea that technology has made the world a better place to live.First of all, technology has brought with it a more comfortable life. Not only do we use aircondition and heating system during the summer and winter, but also do we take many changes in food preparation methods to make so delicious food. Due to the development of architecture and so on, living conditions are greatly improved nowadays.Besides, the world is now more convenient to live. We can travel around by aeroplane and railway network. We can talk to each other faraway by telephone. Several score years ago, it was even daydreaming that we could today obtain information as well as commodities via Internet. The last but not the least, through the process of technology improvement, people begin to realize the fact that only reconciling with the nature can we keep a continuous development. That is why we today pay so much attention to environmental protection. Many factories have achieved economic growth without pollution under certain new technology. These cities are beginning to be very beautiful places to live in.Instances of the same sort can be multiplied indefinitely. When taking into account all these merits we may safely arrive at the conclusion that advantages of technology outweigh any disadvantage it may bring to our lives. Though I must admit that people sometimes invent some things that threaten the lives of themselves, no one can ignore the additional convenience and satisfaction offered by technology, and just with such experience the human being forge ahead swiftly to the future. With the development of technology, there have been a lot of changes to our life. Admittedly, some of these changes are bad, causing many environmental and social problems. However, most of these changes contribute to making our life more convenient, more comfortable and more wonderful.First of all, due to the improvement of technology, people can enjoy more convenience than ever. For example, it only takes travelers or businessmen several hours to go to other countries by jet plane, which makes the world seem to be much smaller. With the help of Internet, people at different corners of the world can communicate with significantly high speed and low cost. It is technology that has cleared away the barriers thatonce prevented people from leading a convenient life.Secondly, technology has made our life as comfortable as we can imagine. Sitting in air-conditioned rooms, people do not have to suffer the extremely cold or hot weather any more. Whatever vegetable or fruit we want to eat, we can always find it in a supermarket without worrying about the season. We can also go to work in a place far away from our homes by using automobiles or public transportation tools. In addition, technology provides us many choices to spend our spare time. Listening to music by using an MD, MP3 or walkman, surfing the internet or watching digital movies, all of these entertainments make our life wonderful. In conclusion, although technology has brought about some problems, such as air pollution caused by increasing automobiles, ethnic problems caused by cloning human beings, the benefits of technology far outweigh its bad influences. So it is safe to say that technology has made the world a better place to live. Whether technology has made the world a better place to live is a prevalent topic undergoing serioius debate. After pondering it from several aspects, I totally agree it is true thattechnology has made the world a better place to live. This I support with the following reasons As we know, firstly technology can help people to live a longer life. A small example can give some light to this point. At the stone age, our ancestors’ average age is about 25. Due to the development of medical technology, now people’s average age is two or three times of that time.Another reason why I prefer to this choice lies in the fact that technology ameliorate the environment in which people living in. for example, thousand of yeas ago people lived in caves, which are cold in winter and hot in summer. With using Architectural technology, people build up houses, skyscrapers. Living in them, people enjoy the comfortable lives without worrying about the whether it is hot, cold or rainy outside. Finally I want to mention that technology has bring our lives more and more convenience. For instance, many people like music, classic music or pop music. At the beginning, people must go to the theater whenever he wanted to hear a song..Today, by using great technologies, walkman and discman are supplied for the music fans. Then they can enjoy their favorite songs anywhere andanytime. From what has been discussed above, we can safely draw theconclusion that technology has made the world a better place to live.。

11If you could ask a famous person one question, what would you ask? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. If I had the opportunity to sit down and meet one of my idols or heroes, I could come up with hundreds of questions to find out what they did to get where they are, but in particular I like to have asked Helen Keller, what would she have made of the technology available today to blind and deafblind individuals? When Helen Keller was nineteen months old, a serious illness almost took her life. She survived the disease had left her both blind and deaf. Her education contributed to her first teacher, Anne Sullivan. Anne taught Helen to finger spell, and manage to let her understand the meaning of words. Imagine how hard it is for a person both blind and deaf to relate words with real world objects, although she never had a chance to see those objects!Another teacher Mary Swift Lamson who over the coming year was to try and teach Helen to speak. This was something that Helen desperately wanted and although she learned to understand what somebody else was saying by touching their lips and throat, her efforts to speak herself proved to be unsuccessful. However, Helen moved on to the Cambridge School for Young Ladies and later entered Radcliff College, becoming the first deaf blind person to have ever enrolled at an institution of higher learning. After World War Two, Helen spent years traveling the world fundraising for the American Foundation for the Overseas Blind. They visited Japan, Australia, South America, Europe and Africa. Her hard work and achievements was widely recognized throughout the world, and she was acknowledged as "the Miracle Worker".If Helen Keller were born today her life would undoubtedly have been completely different. Her life long dream was to be able to talk, something that she was never really able to master. Today the teaching methods exist that would have helped Helen to realize this dream. What would Helen have made of the technology available today to blind and deaf blind individuals? Technology of today has enabled blind and deaf blind people, like Helen, to communicate directly, and independently, with anybody in the world. Some people prefer to live in places that have the same weather or climate all year long. Others like to live in areas where the weather changes several times a year. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice. There is no denying the fact that whether to choose a place that have the same weather all year long, or a place where the weather changes several times a year is a popular topic which is much talked about. Although it seems that normally we cannot tell which one outweigh the other between these two kinds of places, they deserve some close examination. If three criteria were taken into account, I would prefer living in areas where the weather changes several times a year to living in places that have the same weather or climate all year long. There are no less than three advantages in this as rendered below.First, varied weather or climate broadens the range of our pastimes. For example, we can go swimming in summer and go skiing in winter. If the place we live in has only hot weather all year long, like Singapore, most of us can never go skiing in our lives.Secondly, the change of climate gives us opportunities to wear many kinds of clothes. Some say it is a waste of money to buy clothes depending on seasons. However, wearing various clothes, looking at others’ fashion, and feeling the change of seasons is very interesting for me. Thirdly, changing of seasons is good for our health. When winter comes our body’s metabolism slows down, and when summer comes it speeds up, so that our body can maintain a good rhythm. Also snows in the winter can kill a lot of bacteria and bad insects, so that in the spring our chance of being infected to a disease is decreased and we can enjoy nice atmosphere and sceneries. For these reasons, I prefer to live in areas that have several changes of weather. Only these three reasons can make a person draw the conclusion that living in areas that have season changes is better, not to mention there are more. Many students have to live with roommates while going to school or university. What are some of the important qualities of a good roommate? Besides, you must respect your roommates' privately, everyone have right to have their secrets.Take your duty and responsibility. You can not ingore and think about those are negligible. Do not tend to ask your mates to do things what you have to do. Remember, no one will like a lazy and irresponsible roommate. Whatever what you experiences, those of them will be a beautiful memorial of your rest of life. TRY IT.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Dancing plays an important role in a culture. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.Dancing is an important art form, and also plays an important role in a culture. Some dance spontaneously happens at celebrations as an expression of emotion or some happen in a more structured manner at ceremonies.Dancing plays an important role in ceremonial events in many cultures. For example, during the Pukumani ceremony the dances performed reflect the relationship to the deceased. In Lebanon, the classical belly dancing still plays an important part at weddings, representing the transition from virgin bride to sensual woman, and is also popular in nightclubs. On the other hand, residents of the Greenland believe that the dancing and drum can be used as a tool to dissolve conflicts between people. As we may see from the above examples, dancing is an integral part of many cultures. Of course, dancing does not have the same functions in our modern life, but many people in our society still find dancing an enjoyable form of entertainment and art. Young people go to disco with their friends to release their energies, and they find dancing a good way to relax and make friends.Older people dance together as a social event and a good means of exercise. In addition, many people go to theatres to enjoy performances of ballet and modern dances. Enjoying those beautiful dancing, music and costumes in a dance performance, can give us a beautiful experience, and help us develop appreciation of art, and enrich our after work life.In conclusion, no one can deny that dancing plays an important role in a culture. 7Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. When we see photographs of starving children, it's hard to say that we should spend billions of dollars on space exploration. But that's just what we should do. Children don't need to be starving, but we do need to explore space. Right now, we have enough money to feed every person on Earth. Children are starving because of mismanagement of resources and simple human greed. Those are problems we can solve right here on earth. That shouldn't stop our need to find out what's beyond our own solar system. We may never make contact with whatever other species there may be out there in space. Even so, there are still two very practical and positive consequences of space exploration. One is a certainty and the other is a possibility. The certainty is medical research. Yes, we can conduct research here on earth. But much of the research done in space, for example, on the effects of gravity on bone marrow, is making a difference in medicine here on Earth. When we do research in space, we also learn more about space exploration. Also, many of the inventions that were developed for space travel have been adapted to good use on Earth. The possible consequence of space exploration is finding another planet human beings can colonize. Overpopulation is a huge problem on our planet. People are living longer, more healthful lives, and that's a good thing. But it means there are fewer people dying and more people being born. Eventually we'll have less space, fewer resources, and major distribution problems. If we can find another planet to live on, we can relieve the problems of overpopulation on our planet. It's a tragedy that there are human beings suffering on Earth. However, if we wait until everyone has a perfect life, we will never explore space-and that, too, would be a kind of tragedy. 6People have different ways of escaping the stress and difficulties of modern life. Some read; some exercise; others work in their gardens. What do you think are the best ways of reducing stress? Use specific details and examples in your answer.Stress is one of our biggest enemies. It affects our health, our personality, and our relationships with others. In order to get rid of stress, I first have to identify the cause.I have different antidotes to stress depending on the cause. The most common types of stress I face are with work, with friends, and with myself.Work-related stress is the easiest to combat. I simply stop working for a while. If I find myself picking up the same piece of paper four times a day and never doing anything with it, I blame stress. If I find- myself staring at the computer without finishing a report, I blame stress. The best thing to do is to do something else. Sometimes, I get up from my desk and go down the hall to talk to my colleagues, but I don't talk about work related subjects. Other times, I will take a short walk around the block and get some fresh air. Work-related stress can be cured by getting away from the work.Stress caused by friends is more difficult to cure. Often the cause is more complicated. My friends could have a personal problem that causes them and me both anxiety. Or my friends could be angry at me or vice versa. Here, the cure for stress is talking about the problem and being with my friends. Unlike work, you can't walk away from your friends.Stress I cause myself is also not so easy to get rid of. If I feel bothered by an exam or anxious about the future, there is very little for me to do. I just have to tell myself that I can only do my best and leave the rest up to fate.It is important to try to lead a stress-free life. If you can avoid stress by walking away from it (like at work), talking through it (like with your friends) or facing it head on (like with yourself), your health, personality and relationships will benefit. 5Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn. Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. Some communities have decided to base evaluations of teachers on students' test scores. It's these evaluations that determine how much teachers will be paid.I don't think this is a very good idea for several reasons.First of all, if teachers' salaries are going to be based on how much students learn, then some teachers will start to teach their students only what they need to get high test scores. This means that students will miss out on a lot of education that can't be measured on a test. For instance, one of the best methods to help students understand a subject is encouraging them to discuss it. A common practice is to divide the class into groups, have each group discuss the subject, and then have them report back to the whole class. This kind of shared learning can lead to a fuller understanding. It also teaches students how to discuss and debate ideas. However, it doesn't supply facts to show off on a test.Another problem with basing teachers' salaries on how much their students learn is that teachers may ignore students who have learning difficulties. Some students learn more slowly than others and need more personal attention. If a teacher is worried about tests, he may feel he has to push the majority of the students to cram facts. That effort will take all his time. He won't be able tohelp the less able students. It's true there are teachers who "burn out" after many years teaching and just don't care how much their students learn. Basing their salaries on their students' test scores may improve their efforts. However, it's not fair for the majority of teachers. They deserve and need to be judged by other criteria. 4If you were asked to send one thing representing your country to an international exhibition, what would you choose? Why? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice. If I were asked to send one thing representing my country to an international exhibition, I'd send something unexpected: one week's worth of television programming. These programs would best represent my country. They show how the citizens of my country live and what they think and feel. The dramas on television are very realistic. They show how people in different parts of the country go about their daily lives. They show how they earn their livings, how they deal with crime, and how they interact with each other. The dramas also show how people in various economic groups dress, what kinds of houses they live in, and what kinds of education their children receive. The comedies indicate what people in my country think is funny. Even though the situations are exaggerated, they reflect how my culture deals with very basic human situations. People everywhere understand falling in love, raising a family, and earning a living. 3Some people think that governments should spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology. Other people disagree and think that this money should be spent on more basic needs. Which one of these opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.I realize that it's important to stay up to date with our technology. So much, like our space and defense programs, depends on it. I've also read that we shouldn't let other governments get ahead of ours in the race for better technology. This could eventually put us at a disadvantage and our whole economy could suffer. Despite all this, I think our government should spend our tax dollars on more basic items before it gets into the business of developing computer technology. We have so many problems in our society, and it seems every solution needs money. For instance, we talk about getting people off welfare. To do that we need money to give them jobs until they can support themselves. That means support training, day care for their children, and probably a monthly rent subsidy. All of those things can cost hundreds of millions of dollars. However, if we could solve a major problem like that, wouldn't it improve our society even more than new technology?Another problem is that our transportation system is falling apart. Bridges have cracks in them. Highways buckle. Accidents happen because of these problems. We shouldn't put money into improving a computer chip when we have basic needs like these.Besides, why should the government be in the business of developing technology? Aren't there several very successful corporations doing just that? Yes, it's probably less expensive in the long run for the government to develop-the technology. Nevertheless, in the short run, there are basic needs in our society that aren't being met. I think that's where the money should go. 2You have been told that dormitory rooms at your university must be shared by two students. Would you rather have the university assign a student to share a room with you, or would you rather choose your own roommate? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.I'd rather have the university assign a roommate to share a room with me. As far as I'm concerned, this is part of the university experience. Students should meet new people and be open to new experiences. I like leaving this up to chance.Actually, even though the university will choose, it's not totally a matter of chance. We all filled out information sheets. The school knows what we're majoring in, what our interests are, and our study habits and our goals. I think they're probably very good at matching roommates using this information. They've had a lot of practice. Besides, if a mistake is made, I can change my room assignment next semester. If I did want to choose my own roommate, I'd first pick some candidates from the list supplied by the university. Then I'd write to them and they'd write back. Through our letters, we'd find out if we shared common interests, such as sports or movies. More importantly, we'd find out if we liked doing the same things in our free time. Because of my investigation, I'd probably get someone compatible with me. It's a lot of work to go through, though. Besides, the process of finding similar interests isn't all that different from what the university does.Trying to predict whom I'm going to get along with is not a science. I might choose someone who sounds just like me and still find that the two of us just don't get along as roommates. Besides, I think it would be boring to room with somebody who's just the same as me. I'd rather be with someone who has different interests and likes to do different things. Maybe I'd even get a roommate from another culture. After all, one of the reasons I'm going to the university is to be exposed to a lot of new experiences. So, I'd rather have the university choose my roommate for me. 1Some people like doing work by hand. Others prefer using machines. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Here's the problem. I'm sloppy. That's why I like to use machines to do my work rather than do things by hand. Machines can be creative, precise, and efficient. Most people think that you can only be creative if you do things by hand. However, it takes creativity to set the machine up. Once it's set up, it can repeat the same task over and over and over perfectly. If you want to write ten letters, you can set up your word processor to do it, press a button, and ten letters will be printed. It would take me forever by hand, and I would make a lot of mistakes. By hand, each letter would be different. By machine, each one is perfect.Machines are very precise. They don't get tired and cut the wrong way. They don't get distracted and drop some mustard on the paper. As I said, I'm sloppy, but I like neatness. That's why I prefer to use machines.Machines are also more efficient. I'm too tired to pick up the phone and see who is calling me. My answering machine isn't tired. It's always on duty. It doesn't get tired, upset, or moody.I can depend on my machines, but I can't always depend on my hand to be creative, precise, or efficient.。

(1)Which one do you prefer, to solve problems on your own experience and knowledge, or to ask others for advice? As knowledge and experience serve as twim towers in problem-solving, one is often presented with two major paths that pave the way for final fulfillment, eitther to wrack his brain, just like what happened to Neuton, siiting for many years under an apple tree and eventually figuring out ond of the greatest universal rules that govern the whole globe, or to seek for others’ widsom through their advice, just as in the case of Benjinin Franklin, gathering great minds under one roof and then establishing a most world-renown libray. Both ways work. When a practical goal is involved, however, Benjimin Franklin may best be regareded as a role model in this respect and asking people for advice often turn out to be the prime alternative.Experience and knowledge borrowed or learned from others’ advice contribute greatly to effectiveness and effeciency for a goal-accomplishment. Not all experience and knowledge related to problem-solving can be obtained by personal effort alone due to limitations of mind and capabilities of each individual. A single thought in someone’s mind is, more often than not, far less shining compared with group’s wisdom. That explains the famous old saying that one sees further when standing upon the shoulders’ of past great giants; that explains why a great leader is always with greater minds; that also explains why teamwork in corperation is highly emphasized in the 21st century. Brainstorm and exchange of ideas between different thoughts never fail to enhance capabilities of each individula involved, a team, a company, an institution, a country, or even the entire global village.Asking others’ advice instead of getting everything done on one’s own promotes democracy and communication too. In terms of democracy, it is necessary to give others rights and chances to speak since the problem may concern them in different ways, and their saying in turn reflects our respect toward freedom of speech as well as their wisdom. In terms of communication, idea exchange sometimes focuses more than solutions, and hereby better mutual understanding about perspectives, principles, praticalities and personalities of each other.Admittely turning to others for help and suggestion by no means refers to absolute and irresponsible dependence. Consideration upon different thoughts and ideas broadens our mind, enlarges our vision, furthers understanding, enhances more effective and efficient brainstorm, and stresses mutual respect in groups and communities, which undoubtedly gives rise to better, if not the best solutions. As is paraphrased from John F Kenedy, brainstormed, there is little we cannot do while divided, there is little we can do. (2)Case of Benjinin Franklin, gathering great minds under one roof and then establishing a most world-renown libray. Others live in different towns and cities. Which do you think is beterr? Give reasons for your answer. After they complete their univerrsity studies, some students preferr to live in their hometowns while others choose to live in different towns or cities. Everybody has his own reasons for his preference. After my graduation, I will go back and live in my home city. I have made this decision because of the following reasons.Firstly, my home city is a big city that can offer a lot. There are plenty of opportunities for work, many big libraries for studies, several differrent musiums for visit, and numerous cinemas, theaters and centers for entertainment. When I go back there, I will have no difficulty in finding a job suitable for me and I can make use of all the facilities available there.Secondly, if I go back to my home city, I can look after my parents. I take this into consideration because I am their only child and they are now weak and getting on in age. If I live in the same city with them, I can visit them very often and help them whenever it is necessary.Thirdly, if I live in my home city, I will have a lot of friends, schoolmates and relatives to visit and to turn to for help when I need. Of course, I could get acquainted with many people and make many friends if I were to go to live in a strange place, but that takes time. If I go back to my home city, everybody will be waiting for me and I will be able to settle down comfortably without any trouble and waste of time.In short, my choise is based on a careful consideration of my home city and my family. I think it is a better or sensible choice; in a certain sense, it is a must.Neighbors are the people who live near us. In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good neighbor? Use specific details and examples in your answer. (4)If you have a good neighbor, you are a lucky person. You have someone who cares about your needs and your property, who is helpful in the little day-to-day situations that come up, and who is supportive in times of crisis.A good neighbor is someone who, for instance, understands that your children may occasionally run across his lawn,- even though you tell them not to. He'll realize that children can be careless about things like that, and he won't make a big fuss about it unless it becomes a regular thing. In the same vein, he knows that you'll understand if some of the trash from his trash cans blows across into your yard. In other words, he is sensitive to the unintentional things that can happen. He doesn't make a big deal about them.A good neighbor is also respectful of your property. For example, she asks your permission before doing anything that interferes with what's yours. This means she wouldn't plant a huge tree in between your houses without asking how you felt about it. If she wanted to put up a fence, she would let you know first. She might work with you to decide where it should be placed. Maybe the two of you would even split the cost.A good neighbor would lend you some milk if you ran out. She'd give you a ride to work if your car was broken, and let your children stay at her house in the evening if you got stuck working overtime. You would do the same for her. Both of you would help make the other's life easier. When something really awful happens to you, like a death in the family, a good neighbor will volunteer to help in any way he can. This could mean something small, like making some casseroles to put in your freezer to feed visiting relatives. Or it could mean something big, like helping you get through the sadness of the funeral.I think only someone who has experienced a bad neighbor can really appreciate a good one!A good neighbor can be a good friend. He or she can make all the difference in the world to your life. (5)Some people prefer to eat at food stands or restaurants. Other people prefer to prepare and eat food at home. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and esamples to support your answer. Some people like to eat out at food stands and restaurants, while others like to prepare food at home. Often it depends on the kind of lifestyle people have. Those with very busy jobs outside the house don’t always have time to cook. They like the convenience of eating out. Overall, though, it is cheaper and healthier to eat at home. While eating in restaurants is fast, the money you spend can add up. When I have dinner at a restaurant with a friend, the bill is usually over twenty dollars. I can buy a lot of groceries with that much money. Even lunch at a fast-food stand usually costs five or six dollars for one person. That’s enough to feed the whole family at home.Eating at home is better for you, too. Meals at restaurants are often high in fat and calories, and they serve big plates of food-much more food-than you need to eat at one meal. If you cook food at home, you have more control over the ingredients. You can use margarine instead of butter on your potatoes, or not put so much cheese on top of your pizza. At home, you can control yourportion size. You can serve yourself as little as you want. In a restaurant, you may eat a full plate of food "because you paid for it."It’s true that eating out is convenient. You don’t have to shop, or cook, or clean up. But real home cooking doesn’t have to take up a lot of time. There are lots of simple meals that don’t take long to make. In fact, they’re faster than eating out, especially if you think of the time you spend driving to a restaurant, parking, waiting for a table,, waiting for service, and driving home. Both eating at restaurants and cooking at home can be satisfying. Both can taste good and be enjoyed with family and friends. I prefer cooking at home because of the money and health issues, but people will make the choice that fits their lifestyle best. It has recently been announced that a new movie theater may be built in your neighborhood. Do you support or oppose this plan? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.A New Movie TheaterEntertainment is an important part of everyone’s life. We all need to take time to relax insgroupsto live healthy lives and do our work efficiently. It is easier to relax when an appropriate form of entertainment is convenient and close by. Therefore, I would support a proposal to build a new movie theater in my neighborhood.Entertainment places can bring some disadvantages to a community such as increased traffic and noise, but I believe the advantages of a new movie theater would outweigh these concerns. For one thing, the people in my neighborhood would save time. When they wanted to see a movie they could simply walk to the new theater rather than spend time traveling by bus or car. In addition, it would be safer for children to visit a nearby movie theater rather than one in some other part of the city. And finally, a new theater might attract other businesses, such as restaurants and coffee shops, where the people of my neighborhood could go to relax. In short, a new movie theater in the neighborhood would increase the number of entertainment options for the residents. They could enjoy themselves more easily without spending a lot of time traveling to another part of the city. For these reasons I would support the building of a movie theater in my neighborhood.

Some parents offer their school-age children money for each high grade (mark) they get in school. Do you think this is a good idea? 1:Never before in the history has the problem of education been such salient than today. Since people treat education much more important, parents are likely to create some new methods to encourage their children to become more passionate about study. Recently, the phenomenon that parents give their children money as a reward for getting high mark in school has caused wide public concern. Some people indicate that it will change children’s opinion on study, making them believe only money is the purpose of study. However, I contend that giving some money to children as a reward is a good choice, a choice that its merits weigh out its drawbacks. To start with, giving money to the children as a reward can stimulate children to study harder. When children get feedback of their hard work, the study will become a happy job instead of just a boring duty. We cannot refute that sometimes study could be really boring, doing a lot of exercises, reading passages, working out math problems. So setting a goal for children is necessary for the children to keep their interests. If they could use the money to buy what they want as a gift, children will pursue the good mark harder. Another reason drives me to indicate is that, financial thinking as an important ability which isuseful to the modern people, meaning that we need to teach our children how to manage their own money. During the method that giving money as a reward, children will have a chance to manage their own money. Parents will benefit children not only to their current life but also to their future. For instance, my mother used to give me some money as a reward when I was young. And I used that money to start my own account in the bank. After that, I would periodically save some money, which has already become a large amount of money nowadays.Admittedly, it is unwise to give much money once a time when children get a good mark, since that the children will seek only for money during their study. The goal we expect is to encourage our children and tell them to pursue more success. However, if we make sure that children will not misunderstand the meaning of the reward and keep a health attitude to the money. It will be fine to do so. Judging from what I’ve mentioned above, I should reinforce my perspective that it is good for parents to give their children money as a reward for getting high mark in school. 2:It is a tendency that parents pay an increasing attention to the education of their children and they desire to try every possible measure to facilitate children’s learning process. Recently, the phenomenon that parents reward children money for getting each high mark in school has caused public concern. Some people indicate that it will dis tort children’s attitude toward study, leading them to regard money as the ultimate aim of study. However, from my perspective, it is a good way to encourage children to learn with higher efficiency, achieving better school performance. To start with, children now are usually suffering great pressures from school as well their parents. Receiving money for their excellent school performance might lead them to feel a sense of accomplishment, providing them with motivation to persist in hard working. For example, when I was in primary school, my father always rewarded me with 100 RMB for a full mark, 90 for 90 points and etc. By receiving these amount of money, I felt that all the efforts I had made were worthwhile and I was greatly motivated to devote more time to study with high enthusiasm; otherwise, it might be hard for me to keep on pursuing better school performance for a very long time. Obviously, money is an effective stimulus. Moreover, receiving money from parents as rewards provides children with chan ces to manage their little “treasury”, cultivating their financial management capability. Although children can learn some basic math theories in the classroom, seldom to they have the opportunity to put these theories into practice. But if children are given money as encouragement, this situation may change. For instance, once I want to purchase a SONY Walkman which costs more than 800 RMB. After careful thinking, I made a detailed plan: first, trying to gain 300 RMB for high grade; then, deposit these amount of money into bank to get some interests. I seriously followed the plan and at the end of the year, I got 350 RMB in totally for my good school performance and 500 RMB lucky money from my grandparents. It is clearly that children’s financial management capability is highly promoted in this way.Admittedly, it is unwise to give too much money once a time when children get a good mark, since it might cause children to form some kind of misconception of study. However, if parentsreward children with a proper amount of money—just enough to drive the children to keep forward, not too much to trigger some misconceptions—such rewarding brings more benefits than drawbacks.Judging from what I’ve mentioned above, I reinforce my idea that it is good for parents to grand their children money as a reward for getting high mark in school.

Despite the time saved and pronunciation utilities laid out in the reading, the web services can only respond with "correct" or "not correct". The lack of feedback to children's questions will not create an effective learning process. Then the speaker goes on to argue that the current web-storybook services have a very limited collection of books, thus not being able to save parents the cost of new books as the reading states, because the parents still have to buy many books that the web services do not provide.Lastly, the speaker challenges the validity of the assumption of saving parents' time to read stories to children. The reading argues that saving the time is a benefit for the parents, but the speaker maintains that the whole point of reading stories is far beyond reading stories alone. In contrast, it is an essential way of communicating and building relationship between parents and children. The speaker raises serious counterarguments against the reading paragraphs by providing drastically different evidences regardingthe effects of the advertisement, the impact of self-selecting medication, and the impact of trends in the pharmaceutical industry.Firstly, knowing more information from the ads will not necessarily help the patients make better-informed decisions, as the reading argues. On the contrary, patients, without professional training and knowledge, will be more susceptible to misunderstanding information. For example, they would focus only on the positive sides of a certain medicine while ignoring the serious side effects. In addition, if the patients bear the responsibility of prescribing their own medication, they assume more responsibility to their own health. This makes doctors less liable for potential risks and undesirable consequences.Lastly, as for the new trends' benefits to the patients, the speaker does not challenge the reading directly. Instead, he argues that the new medicine, which will count for most of the ads may not necessarily be the best medicine, even though the patients can inform their doctors about the new products.

Should higher education be available to all students or only to good students? Some people believe that a college or university education should be available to all students. Others believe that higher education should be available only to good students. Discuss these views. Which view do you agree with? Explain why.
用什么样的方法确定一个学生good enough so as to deserve higher education?
Some people believe that only good students should have access to a university education. Others posit that higher education should be open to everyone, regardless of their academic abilities. I agree with the former opinion. Universities should only allow good students into their programs because these students value the importance of a good education and are interested in furthering their education. Furthermore, if all students were allowed into universities, the schools would quickly become saturated, and the quality of education received would diminish. A university education is very important to a good student. This type of student has set his/her sights on a university education from early on, and has put in the necessary work to earn a place in a good university. Poor students who did not try to achieve good grades in high school obviously do not care about their education, and therefore, do not deserve to go to university. However, if these poor students go back to school and improve their grades, they should also be allowed to go to university. Good students are very interested in furthering their education. They have put copious amounts of work into their education, and are interestedin learning more. Poor students are usually not as interested in furthering their education. If they were interested in this, they would have tried harder to begin with. With that said, let us suppose for a moment that universities did allow all students, regardless of their grades, into university. The school would quickly become overfull, and good students, who really care about their education, would suffer because of it. They might not be able to get into the classes they want, and if they do get in, there might be so many students in the class that it is impossible to learn. In conclusion, I think that it is important to save a university education for those who really want it—good students. If a poor student wishes to go to university, then he/she will have to return to high school and improve his/her grades. Should young children spend most of their time on school studies or playing? Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age and should spend most of their time on school studies.
For the development of a country, it is more important to spend money on education of very young children than to spend on universities.Education plays an increasing fundamental role in our days. We tie the future of our country to the level of education standard and government is projecting to increase the funding for students. But there is a substantial divergence of opinion. Some say that the significance of educating our young children outweighs that of elder students and the government should elevate the investment on the former. In my opinion, spending more on universities is a great deal.First, through the investment on university we can harvest an instant result on the improved employment rate. The USA is suffering the aftermath of economy crisis in 2008. Countless companies are shrinking their salary and cutting employees; highly educated graduates are anxious for hunting an ordinary job. Therefore the request of new job opportunity is increasing correspondingly. To fill the unemployment rate gap, government can invest more money to enhance the education level in the universities, whose teaching qualities link to the employment rate directly. For example, the university can make use of the money into the extension of library and purchase of more books, motivating more students to engage into library marathons. Or investing the money on the recruitment of senior professors, who can not only deliver more practical knowledge to students, but also use his/her strong personal network to recommend some excellent students to some positions.Second, numerous scientific research achievements come from universities labs. Doing experiments is not so cost-efficient but brings many progressions to our lives and our society, which is closely related to everyone. So labs need more funding. For example, enjoying a good reputation in the domain of physics, Stanford University uses her linear accelerator, which is the largest in the world, to accomplish many researches. But starting up the machines needs electricity much enough to light up a town for a whole year. Is that worthy? Certainly it is. Seemingly not environmental-friendly at first sight, these researches in Stanford are exceedingly important; without them, the nuclear power cannot get its proper and safe use on generating electricity, which prohibits many trees from being cut down and cuts the potential carbon emissions invisibly. There is no doubt that the government should pay the bill, providing solid funding for universities to explore the science.Admittedly, scientists are more mindful of the preliminary education for young kids. According to research, 5-10 year-old is the golden time to cultivate children’s intelligences. Kids are unconsciously influenced by environmental elements such as the sophisticated teaching facility. But we should take it with a grain of salt. Young children are prone to be distracted in multi-media classrooms because their brains are not mature enough to resist temptations of online games, which can be played secretly on the class. So, spending too much money on young children is merely an exercise in vain.We need tohave different sources of news and information to know which one is the realone or who is telling the truth. The ability of independent thinking, virtually symbolizes the [the去掉]intelligence, is treasured nowadays. Lazy modern people tend to be misled by some single-sourced news, because the same event can be reported in different versions which may either agitate public anger or reassure their anxiety. Therefore, limited information will encumber people to dig the truth. In my point, grasping varies sources of news are the cornerstone to explore and identify the reality. We are in the maze, the seemingly shortcut to the truth may be the deliberate pitfall. To bury the truth or cover the crime, the government will control the public opinions and exert influences on people. [这里可以说take advantage of 就不用这么累赘地说两个短句了]So the sole source of news is not trustworthy. For example, in North Korea, numerous dissidents are being muzzled by the leader. Kim Jong Eun cuts the connection to the outside world and instills his extreme thought to citizens, making them believe that they are the “happiest man” [men] in the world. Under such totalitarianism, it is difficult for people to know their real life. But there are still some people who can secretly surf the Internet, knowing their life and the truth of their nation from CNN or BBC. Increasing number of citizens are escaping[加from] North Korea currently. That exemplifies how different sources of news help people to find the truth. Although diverse sources of news may perplex people, they are the cornerstone for in depth truth exploring. [加连字符]One-sided news reports make it easy for North Korean to know the truth. On the contrary, in the countries with freedom of speech, it is grossly tough for people to identify the reality. Nonetheless, different sources of news provide different perspectives toward the same events. By comparison of the news, we can survive from the overwhelming information. For example, Reuters, Times and The Wall Street journals, they chose different point [复数] to report the Mh370 accidents. Finding the contradictions and common points in these reports, we can ensure that the plane has deviated its airline and the oil had been consumed up. But whether the plane exploded ordirectly sank into the sea needs further information. [结合时事很好,而且也和前面一段有自然的衔接]Admittedly, it is time-consuming to collect the information and analyze them. For example, in order to find the truth of WWII, historians just [just去掉] have to search not only the formal history but also countless unofficial history. But the project is worth conducting because the truth is all that we chase for our life. Conscientious people want to know whether their country was at fault for the war; many dead people urged for a fair judgment of their life. So we need abundant information to find the truth. In sum, the more diversified sources of news we get the truth, the closer we are to the truth.
Task:It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?. We all crave knowledge, especially in this Age of Information, but what is the best source of knowledge? Are we to believe Albert Camus, who stated” The place we are to get knowledge is in books”? Or are we better served by following Albert Einstein's counsel that “The only source of knowledge is experience”? Although books have their place in one's learning, there is no substitute for experience; indeed, it is experience that is ultimately the most important source of knowledge.First, let us consider the knowledge needed to undertake a profession-for example, that of a physician. Knowledge gained from books provides the foundation of a doctor's training: study in a medical school begins with a near-overload of reading on anatomy, physiology and maladies both rare and common. However, during this time the medical student is also learning through experience, beginning with dissecting cadavers from almost the first day of medical school. Then, the aspiring physician must complete four years of residency, consisting of actual supervised experience at a hospital in which he or she now must put into practice all of the knowledge he or she has edge of dealing with patients, prescribing medication, and the joy and sadness of saving and losing patients; in other words, it is through experience that these residents finally learn what it means to be a doctor. What about knowledge other than professional expertise-for example, knowledge about another culture? In this realm as well, both books and real-life experience enrich and edify us. For example, Paris is perhaps the most talked-about and written-about city in the world. We could read Hemingway's A Moveable Feast, in which he describes the excitement and intellectual spirit-as well as the restaurants and plentiful red wine-of Paris in the 1920's. Or, we could travel to Paris and eat at bistros, walk across the Pont Neuf and look at the river Seine, visit the Louvre museum, and have adventures of our own. Clearly, most people would have attained more lasting and vivid knowledge by visiting Paris on their own rather than reading about it secondhand. In summary, experience, rather than books, is more central to our quest for learning, especially with regard to professional expertise. With regard to learning about another culture, experience is also irreplaceable. Yet not everyone in the world will have the health or financial resources to carry out a trip to Paris. But many people have access to a local library where they can borrow A Moveable Feast and, at no cost, read Hemingway's vibrant descriptions of Paris. We cannot forget the complementary and unique knowledge afforded by books, but experience is the most precious source of knowledge. Some people say that computers have made life easier and more convenient. I deem the first one as the premier choice. Among countless factors, there are three conspicuous aspects as follows. The main reason for my propensity that students should take classes in many subjects is that theycan make full use of the abundant resources that a university has to offer. A university has plentyof educational and research resources. It is a very good idea to make full use of these valuableassets while studying in the university. The best way to achieve this is to take a variety of subjectsas much as possible. Through learning these courses, a student can get access to knowledge andresources in different areas. On the contrary, if a student only specializes in one subject, he willnot have a chance to get access to other resources offered by the university.Another reason can be seen by every person is that by choosing many subjects students can broaden their knowledge and make a solid foundation for their future concentrated study. Whatever the student will concentrate on in his senior years in college, it is necessary that hechoose a wide range of subjects to build the knowledge foundation. Take the field of BusinessManagement for example, the student has to acquire knowledge in writing, accounting, economicsand human resource management before he can successfully start his major concentration argument I support in the first paragraph is also in a position of advantage because studentscan be more adaptable in their future career if they choose a variety of subjects during theiruniversity study. It is obvious that the development of modern society requires people with inter-disciplinary and comprehensive knowledge. If a student chooses a variety of subjects in hisuniversity study, and gained a breath and width of knowledge, he will be more adaptable to therequirement of the society, and be able to easily adjust to many kinds of jobs. This will benefit hisfuture career. In a word, taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that studentsshould take classes in many subjects in a university. In 1990, new rules and guidelines were adopted in the United Kingdom that has changed the whole field of Archaeology in that country. The new guidelines improved the situation in all there areas discussed in the passage.First, the new guidelines state that before any construction project can start, the construction site has to be examined by archaeologists to see whether the site is of archaeological interest or value. If the site is of archaeological interest, the next step is for the builders, archaeologists and local government officials to get together and make a plan for preserving the archaeological artifacts, either by building around them or by excavating and documenting them properly before the construction is allowed to proceed.Second, an important part of the new guidelines is a rule that any archaeological work done on the construction site will be paid for by the construction company not by the government. The construction company has to pay for the initial examination of the site, and then for all the work carried out under the preservation plan. This is a whole new source of financial support. The funding from construction companies has allowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.Last, the new guidelines provide a lot of paid work for archaeologists, work that didn’t exist before. Expert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to examine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career opportunities in Archaeology have increased the number of professional archaeologists in Britain, which is now the highest it’s ever been. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In my opinion, a group led by a tour guide is the best way totravel. The argument for this view goes as follows:In the first place, there are many advantages when people travel in a group. First, people will notfeel boring in a long trip. People can talk, laugh and make joking like a big family. Second, thegroup will help you a lot when you have any emergency. The people in the group could help youfigure out the awkward situation that will be unimaginable when you travel alone. Third, with thegroup discount, such as the discount for airplane ticket, the hotel, and the admission ticket, travelers can save a lot of money when they use the group discount. In the second place, there are many advantages too when people travel led by a tour guide. Thetour guide will arrange all the details about the trip in advance. The traveler need not worry aboutwhere to find the hotel, where to rent the car, and how to find the direction. It will make the trip a little bit easy. Another advantage is that led by a tour guide will save much time than travelingalone. With the professional knowledge, tour guide will make the smartest schedule. I wouldnever forget that one of my friend, a city tour guide in the Shanghai, China, said that she can leadtraveler to visit the whole city by one day which people should spend two or three days to finishit. In conclusion, there are many advantages when people travels in a group led by a tour guide, suchas save money, save time, do not feel boring, and is easy to take care of. When a practical goal is involved, however, Benjimin Franklin may best be regareded as a role model in this respect and asking people for advice often turn out to be the prime alternative.Experience and knowledge bor rowed or learned from others’ advice contribute greatly to effectiveness and effeciency for a goal-accomplishment. Not all experience and knowledge related to problem-solving can be obtained by personal effort alone due to limitations of mind and capabilities of each individual. A single thought in someone’s mind is, more often than not, far less shining compared with group’s wisdom. That explains the famous old saying that one sees further when standing upon the shoulders’ of past great giants; that explai ns why a great leader is always with greater minds; that also explains why teamwork in corperation is highly emphasized in the 21st century. Or it could mean something big, like helping you get through the sadness of the funeral.I think only someone who has experienced a bad neighbor can really appreciate a good one! A good neighbor can be a good friend. Even lunch at a fast-food stan d usually costs five or six dollars for one person. At home, you can control your portion size. Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.A New Movie TheaterEntertainment is an importan t part of everyone’s life.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It is more important for students to study history and literature than it is for them to study science and mathematics?I strongly agree with the statement that studying history and literature is more important for students than studying science and mathematics. While science and mathematics are undoubtedly valuable subjects, history and literature provide students with a well-rounded education that fosters critical thinking, cultural understanding, and communication skills.History allows students to learn from the past, understand the evolution of societies, and gain insights into the consequences of human actions. Literature, on the other hand, exposes students to diverse perspectives, fosters empathy, and enhances language skills. While science and mathematics are essential for technological advancements, history and literature provide the ethical and cultural context necessary for responsible innovation. Therefore, a balanced curriculum that includes history and literature is vital for developing informed and well-rounded individuals.2. Some people believe that technology has made children less creative than they were in the past. Do you agree or disagree?I disagree with the notion that technology has made children less creative. While technology has introduced new forms of entertainment and learning, it has also provided opportunities for creativity and innovation.Technology enables children to engage in various creative activities. They can create digital art, compose music using software, and even design video games.Additionally, access to information and diverse perspectives through the internet can inspire creativity and expand their horizons. Moreover, technology often requires problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which are fundamental to creativity. Children who use technology to solve puzzles, code, or explore scientific concepts are actively engaging their creative minds. In conclusion, technology can serve as a powerful tool to foster creativity in children when used thoughtfully and in moderation. It opens up new avenues for expression and problem-solving, making it a valuable asset rather than a hindrance to creativity.3. Some people think that environmental problems are too big for individuals to solve, and that only governments and large companies can make a difference. To what extent do you agree or disagree?I disagree with the notion that individuals cannot make a difference in solving environmental problems. While government and large companies play significant roles, individual actions collectively have a substantial impact on the environment.Individuals can reduce their carbon footprint by conserving energy, using public transportation, and adopting sustainable practices in their daily lives. By making environmentally conscious choices, such as reducing plastic waste or conserving water, individuals contribute to positive environmental change.Furthermore, individual actions can influence governments and corporations. Grassroots movements and consumer demand for eco-friendly products have led to policy changes and increased corporate responsibility. For instance, the push for renewable energy sources and stricter environmental regulations has been driven, in part, by public awareness and advocacy. In conclusion, individuals have the power to make a difference in addressing environmental problems through their choices, actions, and influence on largerentities. While governments and corporations have a crucial role to play, individual efforts are integral to creating a sustainable future.4. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It is important for governments to spend money on art such as music, painting, and dance?I strongly agree with the statement that it is important for governments to spend money on art. Art plays a vital role in society, fostering cultural enrichment, creativity, and social cohesion.Government investment in art supports cultural preservation and heritage. Museums, galleries, and cultural institutions receive funding to protect and showcase valuable artworks, preserving the cultural identity and history of a nation.Art also enhances creativity and innovation, benefiting society as a whole. Exposure to various forms of art, such as music, painting, and dance, stimulates creative thinking, problem-solving, and individual expression. This creativity can have positive impacts in fields beyond art, including science, technology, and business.Additionally, art contributes to social cohesion by providing a platform for shared experiences and expressions of diverse perspectives. Cultural events and artistic performances bring communities together, fostering a sense of unity and belonging. In conclusion, government investment in art is a wise allocation of resources that promotes cultural preservation, creativity, and social cohesion. It enriches society in ways that extend beyond the artistic realm.5. Some people believe that immigrants should adopt the culture of their new country, while others think they should maintain their own cultural traditions. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The question of whether immigrants should adopt the culture of their new country or maintain their own cultural traditions is a complex one, with valid arguments on both sides.Advocates for cultural assimilation argue that adopting the culture of the host country is essential for social cohesion and integration. They contend that shared values, language, and customs facilitate better communication and understanding among diverse communities. Cultural assimilation, they argue, helps immigrants become active and productive members of their new society. On the other hand, supporters of cultural preservation argue that maintaining one's cultural traditions is vital for preserving identity and diversity. They believe that a multicultural society is enriched by the contributions of various cultures and that immigrants should not be forced to abandon their heritage. Cultural preservation, they argue, can lead to a more vibrant and inclusive society. In my opinion, the ideal approach lies in a balance between assimilation and cultural preservation. Immigrants should have the freedom to choose which aspects of their cultural heritage they wish to maintain, while also respecting and adapting to the cultural norms and values of their new country. This balance allows for the coexistence of diverse cultures while fostering integration and understanding within the broader society.6. Some people believe that the government should promote a vegetarian diet to improve public health, while others think it should be a personal choice. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The promotion of a vegetarian diet by the government to improve public health is a topic of debate. Some argue that it should be a personal choice, while others believe in government intervention.Proponents of government promotion of a vegetarian diet argue that it can lead to better public health outcomes by reducing the consumption of meat, which is associated with various health risks. They contend that government campaigns can educate the public about the benefits of a vegetarian diet and provide incentives for healthier eating. On the other hand, advocates for personal choice argue that individuals should have the freedom to make their dietary decisions based on their preferences and beliefs. They believe that government should not interfere in matters of personal choice, including what people choose to eat.In my view, the government should play a role in promoting healthy dietary choices, but it should not mandate a vegetarian diet. Education and awareness campaigns can provide information about the health benefits of reducing meat consumption, but the ultimate decision should rest with individuals. Encouraging a balanced and informed approach to diet is key to improving public health.7. Some people argue that the death penalty should be abolished because it is inhumane, while others believe it serves as an effective deterrent for serious crimes. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The debate over the death penalty is a contentious one, with arguments on both sides regarding its humanity and effectiveness as a deterrent for serious crimes.Opponents of the death penalty argue that it is inhumane and violates the right to life. They contend that there is a risk of executing innocent individuals, and that the death penalty does not serve as an effective deterrent, as there is no conclusive evidence that it reduces serious crimes. On the other hand, proponents of the death penalty believe that it serves as a powerful deterrent for heinous crimes such as murder. They argue that it provides closure to victims' families and ensures that dangerous criminals do not have the opportunity to commit further crimes. In my opinion, the death penalty should be abolished. The potential for irreversible errors in judgment and the ethical concerns surrounding taking a human life outweigh any potential deterrent effect. Alternative forms of punishment, such as life imprisonment, can ensure public safety without resorting to state-sanctioned killing.8. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: All students should be required to study art and music in secondary school.I strongly agree with the statement that all students should be required to study art and music in secondary school. Art and music education offer numerous benefits that contribute to a well-rounded education and personal development.Firstly, art and music stimulate creativity and self-expression. They provide students with an outlet for their emotions and thoughts, fostering imagination and critical thinking. These skills are valuable in various aspects of life and can enhance problem-solving abilities.Secondly, art and music education promote cultural appreciation and awareness. They expose students to different artistic styles, historical periods, and culturaltraditions, fostering empathy and an understanding of diverse perspectives. This cultural awareness is essential in an increasingly globalized world.Furthermore, art and music can have a positive impact on emotional well-being. They provide avenues for stress relief and self-reflection, contributing to mental and emotional health. In conclusion, requiring students to study art and music in secondary school is essential for their holistic development. These subjects nurture creativity, cultural understanding, and emotional well-being, making them integral components of a comprehensive education.9. Some people believe that advancements in technology, such as the internet and smartphones, have made people more isolated and less sociable. Do you agree or disagree? The impact of advancements in technology, including the internet and smartphones, on social interactions is a matter of debate. Some argue that these technologies have made people more isolated and less sociable, while others disagree.I agree with the view that advancements in technology have had a mixed impact on social interactions. While they have created new forms of communication and connection, they have also brought challenges related to isolation and reducedface-to-face interaction.Technology, such as social media and instant messaging, enables people to stay in touch with friends and family, even across great distances. It can also facilitate the formation of online communities and support networks. However, the overuse of technology can lead to reduced physical interactions, as people spend more time on screens and less time engaging with others in person. Moreover, technology has changed the nature of social interactions. It can lead to shallow, online-only relationships, making it essential for individuals to strike a balance between virtual and real-world connections. In conclusion, while technology has the potential to enhance social interactions and connections, it also carries the risk of isolation when used excessively. It is crucial for individuals to use technology mindfully and prioritize in-person interactions to maintain healthy social relationships.10. Some people believe that individual actions, such as recycling and conserving energy, are not sufficient to address environmental problems. They argue that governments and large corporations must take the lead. To what extent do you agree or disagree?I believe that individual actions, such as recycling and conserving energy, are important but not sufficient on their own to address environmental problems. Governments and large corporations must also take a proactive role in environmental conservation.Individual actions, such as reducing waste and adopting sustainable practices, play a crucial role in raising environmental awareness and setting an example for others. However, the scale of environmental issues, such as climate change and habitat destruction, requires coordinated efforts at a larger scale.Governments have the power to implement policies and regulations that can significantly impact environmental conservation. They can establish emissions standards, invest in renewable energy sources, and protect natural habitats. Government actions can create a conducive environment for sustainable practices.Large corporations are major contributors to environmental issues, but they also have the resources and influence to make substantial changes. When corporationsadopt sustainable practices, reduce emissions, and prioritize eco-friendly products, they can have a significant positive impact on the environment. In conclusion, addressing environmental problems requires a multi-pronged approach. While individual actions are important, governments and large corporations must also take responsibility and lead the way in implementing sustainable practices and policies.。

But, in the United States charitable giving has declined substantially in recent years, and, for several reasons, it is unlikely to increase in the future. One reason that charitable giving has fallen is simply that there is less need for charitable giving, because the United States government now provides most of the important public services. The government assumes 承担 much of the responsibility for feeding the poor, providing health care, and taking care of the victims of natural disasters—functions that charities used to perform. These government institutions of social welfare are permanent, and so the diminished need for private charitable giving will also be permanent.Another reason people are, and will be, giving less to charities is that in the past few years there have been highly publicized disclosures that the managers of some prominent national charities were receiving huge salaries and other benefits as large or larger than salaries of heads of major for-profit corporations. These salaries and expenses for travel, fancy offices, and advertising significantly reduce the percentage of donated money that went to charitable purposes. Naturally people have been turned off 厌烦by these excesses and inefficiencies. Finally, beyond the shortcomings of legitimate charities, there has been an increasing number of fraudulent solicitations恳求,劝诱 by organizations or individuals who merely pose as charities. As a result, people are now becoming skeptical even about what are in fact legitimate appeals for support. So potential donors are starting to give less and give less frequently. And since the incidence of charity fraud seems to be increasing, we can expect further declines N. in charitable giving as people become more concerned that they are being taken advantage of.托福TPO综合写作满分作⽂范⽂ Topic 5 ListeningThere’s no doubt that giving to charities has declined in recent years, but there are good reasons to think it’ll soon begin to go up.Consider, for example, the fact that the number of elderly and retired people in our society keeps growing. Right now, elderly citizens who can’t afford health care often r ely on government programs to pay for it. But as the elderly population grows, government programs probably won’t be able to cover the health assistance, Americans respond to that need. And since the need will be increasing, we should expect to see charitable giving rise accordingly. There’s another reason to be optimistic about the future of charitable giving. The disclosures of waste and bad management at major charities, and people’s anger at this waste, are producing significant reforms. Overpa id managers have been forced to resign by the bad publicity. Charities are reducing their expenses and are now subject to服从closer public scrutiny. As a result, people are regaining confidence that the money they donate will support the causes they care about.People’s reaction to charity fraud is also evolving正在发展. In the short run, people don’t want to donate because they’re concerned with whether charities are honest. But in the long run, such skepticism makes people careful, not stingy. For exa mple, many people now refuse to give money when they’re asked to do so over the telephone. They insist on receiving proof and documentation before they donate.Just as people learn how to be careful consumers, most people are acquiring the skills needed to guard against charity fraud without stopping their support for worthwhile causes.托福TPO综合写作满分作⽂范⽂: Topic 6 ReadingIt used to be that parents took their children on vacation during the summer, when school was out of session. But today, much more often than in the past, many parents take their children on vacation during the school year. Although these children are away from school, sometimes for several weeks, traveling itself serves a valuable educational function. The most important educational benefit of taking children on vacation is that traveling exposes children to new places and cultures. It is good for children to read about distant countries, but it is even better to take them there. What students learn by meeting the people and absorbing the culture of these places is something they could not learn in their classrooms. Moreover, the benefits to the children who have been away from the classroom for several weeks traveling continue after they have returned to their classes. Students who are in school every day of the school year can easily lose enthusiasm for their studies. But students invigorated by time away return with heightened excitement. The trend of students taking vacations during the school year also has benefits for teachers. When these students return to school, their knowledge and enthusiasm contribute positively to the entire class.Teachers can ask the children to share stories of their travels with their peers and can incorporate what they have learned from traveling into writing and reading projects. This makes lesson development easier for teachers because the returning students’ experiences provide a ready basis for classroom discussions and projects.托福TPO综合写作满分作⽂范⽂ Topic 6 ListeningNow, let’s consider how taking children on vacation when school is in session impacts their education. I believe the impact on children and their teachers can be quite negative. While students have been traveling, their fellow students have been working. What do you think happens when they return to school? Well, they have to spend a lot of time “playing catch-up,” you know, doing work that fellow students have already done. It’s one thing to miss a day or two of s chool, but many parents take their children on vacation for weeks on end, and it’s very difficult for any child to make up that much missed time. So, the missed learning has to be weighed against the benefits of traveling and learning about other cultures. On balance, what is lost is greater than what is gained. When children come back to class after a long trip, they’re excited about their recent adventures. Sounds good, but this enthusiasm can have a downside. Their excitement can make it difficult for them to fit back into the routine of the school day. School seems a little boring to them, so they’re not attentive to their studies, and their restlessness can。

新托福考试tpo1综合写作高分范文:the lecturer claims that the new policy, which allows people to work four days a week instead of five, will havenegative effects for companies as well as society. this claim is not in agreement with that of the reading passage, which suggests that such a policy will be beneficial.according to the lecture, a company that allows employees to have fewer working hours is likely to hire more people to ensure that it meets normal levels of productivity. if this occurs, expenses for training and medical insurance will inevitably rise. the reading passage, by contrast, suggests that employees who enjoy more leisure time make fewer mistakes and work more efficiently, leading to increased profits for the enterprise.the second point of difference between the lecture and the reading passage concerns the impact of the policy on the unemployment rate. the lecturer asserts that for the sake of saving money, employers might raise their expectations of 4-day employees rather than recruit more people.consequently, employees who work 4 days will be forced to finish what they did in 5 days previously, and no additional jobs will be created.finally, the lecturer argues that under the new policy, employees will experience not only decreased quality of life (as shorter working hours will translate into less pay), but also fewer chances to be promoted to supervisory positions. however, the reading passage contends that more leisure hours can create opportunities to strengthen family ties andallow employees to develop private interests, making them feel more satisfied with their lives.
Is it better to enjoy your money when you earn it or is it better to save your money for some time in the futureUse specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.范文The Advantages of Saving MoneyEveryone must work to live, but many people are fortunate enough to make more money than they immediately need. What should they do with this extra incomeWhile it is tempting for people to spend it all on things they desire,I believe it is better to save at least a portion of the extra income for the future.By saving money, people give themselves more security. They cannot predict the future; perhaps one day they will be jobless. At a time like this their savings can spare them a great deal of suffering and help to see them through the hard time.In addition, saving money allows people to build up a larger sum. They can then buy something more worthwhile than the small things they can but if they spend the money right away. For example, they may be able to buy a house with their savings. Finally, the practice of saving helps people develop the habit of setting goals and planning for their future. In this way they are bound to lead more meaningful and successful lives. Most people would like to enjoy their money immediately.Nobody likes to wait for the things that he wants. However,if we learn to save our money,we can gain more advantages in the future. We will lead more secure and, thus, happier lives. We will also be able to buy the things we truly want but cannot afford right now. In this temple as in people"s heart abraham lincoln who saved the union will be enshined forever这是写林肯纪念堂上的一句话. DISHONESTY KILLS RELIABILITYThere are certain considerations or factors that everyone takes into account in a relationship. People may look for honesty, altruism, understanding, loyalty, being thoughtful etc! Everyonewould more or less wish that the person s/he isdealing with, has some of these virtues above.Putting them in an order according to their importance, however can be very subjective and relative. When someone asks him/herself the question “What do Iconsider to be the most important thing in my relationship”the answerdepends on a lot of factors such as how his/her earlier relationships were. After stating that everyone’s opinioncan be different about this, for me honesty, in other words, always telling thetruth is the most important consideration in a relationship. Opposite of thisis inarguably lying and if someone needs to lie, either s/he is hidingsomething or is afraid of telling me something. In any relationship of mine, I would wish that first of all, the person I’m dealing with is honest. Even though s/he thinks thats/he didsomething wrong that I wouldn’t like, s/he’d better tell me the truth and notlie about it. Later on if I find out about a lie or hear the truth from someoneelse, that’d be much more unpleasant. In that case how can I ever believe ortrust that person again How can I ever believe that this person has enoughconfidence in me to forgive him/her and carry on with the relationship fromthere. So if I cannot trust a person any more, if the person doesn’t think Ican handle the truth, there’s no point to continuing that relationship.Although I would like to see altruistic, understanding, thoughtful and loyal behavior from people, an instance of the opposite of these behaviorswould not upset me as much as dishonesty would. Among all the possiblebehaviors, dishonesty is the only one for me that terminates how I feel about aperson’s reliability. Therefore honesty would be my first concern and themost important consideration in a relationship. The lecture and the listening have different ideOffering employees the option of a four-day workweek won’t affect the company profits, economic conditions or the lives of employees in the ways the reading suggests.First, offering a four-day workweek will probably force companies to spend more, possibly a lot more.Adding new workers means putting much more money into providing training and medical benefits.Remember the costs of things like health benefits can be the same whether an employee works four days or five. And having more employees also requires more office space and more computers. These additional costs would quickly cut into company profits.Second, with respect to overall employment,it doesn’t follow that once some employees choose a four-day workweek, many more jobs will become available.Hiring new workers is costly,as I argued a moment ago.And companies have other options. They might just choose to ask their employees to work overtime to make up thedifference.Worse, companies might raise expectations. They might start to expect that their four-day employees can do the same amount of work they used to do in five days.If this happens, then no additional jobs will be created and current jobs will become more unpleasant. Finally, while a four-day workweek offers employees more free time to invest in their personal lives,it also presents some risks that could end up reducing their quality of life.Working a shorter week can decrease employees’ job stability and harm their chances for advancing their careers.Four-day employees are likely to be the first to lose their jobs during an economic downturn. They may also be passed over for promotions because companies might prefer to havefive-day employees in management positions to ensure continuous coverage and consistent supervision for the entire workweek. Depending on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern, we find that some people hold the idea of A meanwhile othersprefer to B, from my point of view, it is more advisable to chose A rather than B. Admittedly, __________________A也有好的地方______________.By he same token, however, ______________B更好____________.Takingsintosaccount of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that_____________.一, “点对点”的结构“点对点”的结构指的是把综合写作中的阅读材料和听力材料的每一个对应点都单独提炼出来用一个段落加以阐述.这种结构的优点是可以把阅读文章和听力材料的对应关系更细致地进行说明,使文章层次感强,同时反映出考生提炼信息和对比信息的能力更高.比如下面的一篇范文就是ETS给出的满分作文,是一篇典型的“点对点”型的结构安排方式.Introduction-Relationship between reading and lecture The lecturer talks about research conducted by a firm that used the group to handle their work. He says that the theory stated in the passage was verydifferent and somewhat inaccurate when compared to what happened in reality.First Point of Contrast First, some members got free rides. That is, some didn’t work hard but got recognition for the success nonetheless. This also indicates that people who hard were not given recognition they should have gotten. In other words, weren’t given the opportunity to “shine”. This directly contradicts what th e passage indicates.Second Point of Contrast Second, groups were slow in progress. The passage says that groups are more responsive than individuals because of the number of people involved and aggregated resources. However, the speaker talks about how the firm found that groups were slower than individuals in decision making. Groups needed time for meetings, which are necessary procedures in decision making. This is another place where experience contradicted theory.Third Point of Contrast Third, influential people might emerge and lead the group towards glory If the influent people are going in the right direction there would be no problem. But in cases where they go in the wrong direction, there is nobody that has influence to counter the decision made. In other words, the group might turn dictatorship, with the influential party as the leader, and might become less inits thinking. They might become one-sided, and thus fail to succeed. Introduction-Relationship between reading and lecture The lecturer talks about the natural process of crystallization and how the speed of cooling can influence such process, which is proved by Bowen’scrystallization experiment explained in the reading passage.Points in the lecture Natural crystallization happens when magma, which is extremely hot in its molten form deep in the earth, gradually cools off when it moves towards the surface of the earth. During the cooling process, the energy from heat is lost, and the atoms which compose the magma begin to move more slowly, forming into an orderly pattern, which turns the magma into a solid crystal structure. However, if the cooling process takes place too rapidly, then there is not enough time for the atoms to be arranged into such an orderly pattern. Therefore, crystallization can’t take place. Instead, a brittle, glass-like material will form.Points in the Reading Norman Bowen’s experiment in the 1920sproved this theory. By collecting and melting elements in rocks, Norman created artificial magma in his laboratory. He first cooledthe magma slowly, as in the natural crystallization process, and got mineral crystals. But then he suddenly replaced this normal cooling with rapid freezing, and found frozen glass materials surrounding the solid crystal structure.可以看出,“点对点”和“面对面”的结构有各自的特点,但总得来说“点对点”的结构在“对比型”的新托福综合写作中要更适用一些,因为它能把矛盾点逐一呈现,更细致地体现了听力和阅读材料之间的关系.但掌握“面对面”的结构也很有必要,因为它可以适用一些听力和阅读材料之间的关系是一致、延伸或解释型的考题.此外,在考生无法寻找到所有的对应点时,用“面对面”的结构也算是一种补救措施.附:新托福综合写作sample answer 两篇,针对的是同一个考题,第一篇用的是“点对点”结构,第二篇用的是“面对面”的结构._______________________________________________________祝你成功啦!小站托福范文侃哥托福范文。

Should higher education be available to all students or only to good students? Some people believe that a college or university education should be available to all students. Others believe that higher education should be available only to good students. Discuss these views. Which view do you agree with? Explain why.
用什么样的方法确定一个学生good enough so as to deserve highereducation?
Some people believe that only good students should have aess to a university education. Others posit that higher education should be open to everyone, regardless of their academic abilities. I agree with the former opinion. Universities should only allow good students into their programs because these students value the importance of a good education and are interested in furthering their education. Furthermore, if all students were allowed into universities, the schools would quickly bee saturated, and the quality of education received would diminish. A university education is very important to a good student. This type of student has set his/her sights on a university education from early on, and has put in the necessary work to earn a place in a good university. Poor students who did not try to achieve good grades in high school obviously donot care about their education, and therefore, do not deserve to go to university. However, if these poor students go back to school and improve their grades, they should also be allowed to go to university. Good students are very interested in furthering their education. They have put copious amounts of work into their education, and are interested in learning more. Poor students are usually not as interested in furthering their education. If they were interested in this, they would have tried harder to begin with. With that said, let us suppose for a momentthat universities did allow all students, regardless of their grades, into university. The school would quickly bee overfull, and good students, who really care about their education, would suffer because of it. Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age and should spend most oftheir time on school studies. Others believe that young children should spend most of their time playing. Compare these two views. Which view do you agree with? Why?
早上学的好处和坏处:好处是很多提前上学的孩子显得聪明,对付学习显得游刃有余(be more than equal to a task; aomplish a task with ease)。
坏处是,经常挨欺负(be bullied; be treated rough)。
Some people believe that it is important for children to begin their education at a very early age, and spend most of their time on academic studies. Others believe that children should spend their time playing instead of studying. To understand the logic behind these two views, we must pare their advantages and disadvantages. If a child spends all of his/her time studying, he/she will advance quickly in school. He/she will learn things early in life that other children, who spent their time playing, will not learn until they are at least a few years older. This child will learn the value of education early on, and will be able to impress his/her parents with his/her knowledge, therefore gaining self-confidence and motivation. If achild spends most of his time playing, he/she will not learn about mathematics and science, but he/she will learn another important skill: socialization. When children spend their time playing together, they learn how to interactwith others. They learn how to share things, and how to settle a disagreement amicably. Children can also increase their motor skills if they spend their time playing games that involve hand-eye coordination. Both of these perspectives have valid points. However, I think it is best to try and bine playing with learning. If children can learn about the basics of academics in a fun and playful environment, they are likely to bee more interested in it.A very young child has no interest in studying, and I believe that adults must allow children to have fun. Otherwise, the children will grow up to be uncaring, antisocial adults. This does not mean, however, that education is not important. I feel that there is a right time to introduce studying and academia to children, and this time is not when they are very young. It is better to wait until the children are at least five or six year old before trying to get them to study. Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age and should spend most oftheir time on school studies. Others believe that youngchildren should spend most of their time playing. Compare these two views. Which view do you agree with? Why?
