先说幽。
自古就有“青城天下幽”的美誉,它象清丽脱俗的仙女,写一下这个“幽”字,就是“山”里藏着“丝丝”,意思就是说,青城山里蕴藏着丝丝不断、连绵不绝的生命力呀。
‘多年来,青城山的平均气温一直都是15摄氏度,非常宜人,年平均降雨量是1300毫米,非常湿润:也非常有利于植物的生长,青城山风景区的林木总面积达2350公顷,可以说是植被繁茂,晶类众多,仅木本植物就达110余科、730余种,既有挺立在庙观旁的参天大树,又有丰富多彩的原始森林和壮观秀丽的大面积人工林,其中的古树名木有银杏,它是世界上稀有的最古树种之一,俗称白果树,最著名最神奇的是青城山天师洞银杏,传说是张天师手植的,高50多米,径围20米,距今已有1800多年的历史,现在已被四川省林业厅正式封为“天府树王”,它有很多白果笋密集下垂,极为壮观,是青城山的镇山之宝,是中国道教诞生、发展的见证。
另外,青城山还有大量的楠木、唐衫、棕树、珙桐等珍稀树种,青城山的花卉资源也非常丰富,青城幽兰驰名中外。
青城山的森林植被,都有很高的生态、科研、旅游价值,是大自然遗留给人类的无价之宝。
植被丰茂,林木有情,空气自然也就十分新鲜有灵气。
此外,青城山也是野生动物的天堂,这里的野生动物有197科50多种。
禽鸟约200余种,鱼类品种有20余种,野生两栖动物、爬行动物20多种,属国家级保护动物的有:大熊猫、金丝猴、还有青城玉鸦、红嘴相思鸟、杜鹃鸟、娃娃鱼等等。
最早用“幽”字形容青城山的,是唐朝诗圣杜甫,他在《丈人山》一诗中写道:自为青城客,不唾青城地。

后陆游赞叹青城说“坐观山水气幽清”,近人吴稚晖更是直接说:“青城在亦雄亦奇亦秀外,而其幽邃曲深,似剑阁、三峡、峨嵋皆无逊色。
故以天下幽标明青城特点。
”这就是常说的“青城天下幽”的来历。
青城山与道教的关系,那可真是源远流长,可以看到道教的整个发展历史。
远在东汉顺帝汉安二年(公元143年),在青城山支脉鹤鸣山修道的张陵,来到青城山赤城崖创立道教。
据说他“会三界万神于青城黄帝坛下,立二十四治”,也就是将当时的四川及汉中的部分地区划分为二十四个教区,分别管理,所谓“治”,与乱相对,含有管理、有序、安定、文明等内容,建立了中国历史上最早的政教合一的政权。
青城山的历史极其悠久,在青城山的东麓发现的芒城古遗址,出土了大量文物证明,早在新石器时代,这里就已经建立了城郭,正是以此为中心,才繁衍、发展出了后来震惊天下的古蜀文明。
到了秦代,青城山就已经成为皇帝敕封的国家祭祀山川的圣地,在当时,全国也只有18座山川享受这种国家祭祀的待遇。
