Went home, slept a night over it and decided that I have to find a way to break the ice with this lady. The very next day I bought some nice chocolate praying to see her again and when I caught sight of her, went straight to her and apologized telling her “I am so very sorry if I angered you, I had no such intention, please accept my apologizes”, and handled her the chocolate. Surprised, she told me not to mind her, and apologized too. It was an awkward moment, but we made peace and the grimaces换成embarrassment is/ are replaced by smiles now.I am very grateful for this experience, it shows me I still have plenty of work to do with my mind, I learned how it is not easy to take knowledge of, accept and forgive acts that we may feel as unfair, and it taught me of possibilities about fixing a conflict. Customers make a small depo sit(押金)and get to use the thing for a daily cost, with a fine put in plac e for every day if they fail to return the product in time. It’s a si mple business model, and market data shows that people see sharing as a cheap and convenient way to cut down waste.Zhao Shuping founded the Sharing E Umbrella, an umbrella s haring service, in April. By the end of June, he had already st arted in 11 major Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Nanjing and Guangzhou. While picking up the umbrellas was simple, as they were made available(可得到的)at bus and subway stations, the return system turned out to b e a different matter. “Umbrellas are different from bicycles,” M r. Zhao told Chinese news site . “Bikes can be par ked anywhere, but with an umbrella you need something to h ang it on.”So instead of bothering to return the umbrellas back to a stati on, a lot of people just took them home, and Sharing E Umbre lla has reportedly lost track of most of the 300,000 umbrellas. Considering that borrowing umbrellas requires a 19 yuan dep osit, with a fee of 0.50 yuan per half an hour usage, Zhao say s that he suffers a loss of 60 yuan per lost umbrella, so the co mpany is now in the red, but he is not ready to stop it just yet. Don’t get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are u nhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreemen t and try your best to accept each other. Michael’s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days.Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect (尊敬) to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try!56. ATo me, life without music would not be exciting. I realize that this is not true for everybody. Many people get along quite well without going to the concert, and listening to the record. But music plays an important part in everyone's life, whether he realizes it or not. Try to imagine, for example, what films or TV plays would be like without music. Would the feelings, the moving plot, and the greatest interests, be so exciting or dramatic? I'm not sure about it.Now, we have been speaking of music in its more common meaning----the kind of music we hear in the concert hall. But if we look at some parts of music more closely, we discover them in our everyday life too----in the rhythm of the sea, the melody of a bird in the woods and so on. So music surely has meaning for everyone, in some way or other. And, of course, it has special meaning for those who have spent all their lives working on playing or writing music. It is well said, “Through music a child enters into a world of beauty, expresses himself from his heart, feels the joy of doing things alone, learns to take care of others, develops his mind and makes his body strong.”21. What does the writer say more about in the text?A. Life full of music.B. The importance of music.C. Life without music.D. The development of music.22. From the text, we learn that many people________.A. go to the concert instead of enjoying musicB. get along quite well without musicC. don't realize the importance of musicD. think music would be less exciting than films23. From the last paragraph, we learn that music________.A. is very necessary for our everyday lifeB. is very important, especially for childrenC. can make our life exciting and dramaticD. can enter another beautiful worldBOne evening I was going back from a supermarket. As I was approaching my car, I noticed that some person came and stood beside me. He was the one that could be considered as a bum. It seemed that he had no car, no home and no job. I thought that he would ask me for money, but he did not do that, he only said: “Your car is very nice”.After several moments of silence, I replied: “Thanks”, and then the inner voice told me, “Ask him if he needs help”. After a short hesitation(犹豫) I asked him if he needed any help. His response was astonishing. I will never forget those simple three words that I heard from him: —“Don’t we all?”It was a true discovery to me. I needed help. Although I had money and a place to sleep, but I recognized that I needed help too. Then I opened my wallet and gave him enough money to get a meal and some shelter for a day.Suddenly I understood that no matter how much money we have, we all need help. On the other hand, no matter how poor you are, how many material problems you have, you still might offer your help to others, you still might be giving. Even it’s just a nice word, you can give that and it can be priceless to other persons.Maybe that man was just a homeless stranger, but to me he was more than that. Maybe he was sent by the Highest Loving Power personally to me to open my eyes, to show me that there is one thing, among all other values, which is very important and irreplaceable for each and every person. Actually, it is a true gift and it is called Giving.24. The underlined word “bum” in Paragraph 1 can be a person _______.A. who needs moneyB. who is a homeless manC. who is willing to help othersD. who is sent by the Highest Loving Power25. Why did the writer give enough money to the man?A. The writer had enough money to help.B. He needed money to eat and have a rest.C. His words gave the writer deep thoughts.D. The writer is kind and always helps others.26. What can we learn from the last two paragraphs?A. Not everyone needs help.B. Giving is as important as receiving.C The rich should help the poor.D. A helping and touching word can help others.27. What did the writer probably get from the man?A. True meaning of giving.B. True meaning of being rich.C. True meaning of valuesD. True meaning of giftsCSports can help you keep fit and get in touch with nature. However, whether you are on the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should be aware that your sport of choice might have great influence on the environment. Some sports are resource-hungry. Golf, as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also tons of water. Besides, all sorts of chemicals and huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses (球场) ingood condition. This causes major environmental effects. For example, in the dry regions of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for serious water shortage in some local areas. There are many environment-friendly sport. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don’t need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes; and you don’t have to worry about resources and your purse. Simple and free, power walking can also keep you fit. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart and bones. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep well and have better weight control.Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environment-friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materi als. But the final goal should be “green gyms”. They are better replacements for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers. Members of green gyms play sports outdoors, in the countryside or other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all, it’s free.28.
