1.Do you think it is unethical to lie about your qualifications on your CV?

In my opinion, it is unethical to lie about your qualifications on your resume.

Firstly, you will give a bad impression to the recruiter for lying on your CV. Surveys indicate that lying on resumes does appear to be on the rise. According to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), more than 60% of all HR professionals report finding inaccuracies on the resumes that come across their desks. Human Resource Manager will get the first impression of you from your resume. If you lie about your qualification like exaggerating your work experiences or education, or even just have some inaccuracies on the resume, it is enough to call your character into question and be the cause of you losing a job offer that you were in the running for.

Secondly, lying on your resume or exaggerating your abilities may lead to high expectation and strict requirement in your future job career. In practical work, you have to meet the awkward situation that you can’t solve out the problem or finish the work effectively, which may not meet the high expectation of your line manager, or even be dismissed from a job that you are already in.

For handling the potential weaknesses you concerned about on your resume, the first steps are to recognize those weaknesses and problems for what they are and then to set them aside for a moment, while you take a bigger-picture look at your professional background. Your resume is a marketing document, and as in all marketing and advertising, your goal is to emphasize and promote your skills, talents, strengths, and potential value add in relation to your job target. And you can put the weakness at the bottom on the page. You must be honest on your resume, but there is no reason that you must or should emphasize the problem areas!

Everyone has both strengths and weakness, how to promote your strengths while downplaying your weaknesses is the key to making a successful resume.
