大学英语读书笔记 The legend of Troy第一篇:The legend of 1900英语影视欣赏The legend of 1900The legend of 1900 is an italian movie. it is known as one of The giuseppe trnatore’ s famous “searching trilogy”.The movie tells us a said story about a pianist who lived on The sea all his life. january,1900,The beginning of 20th century, a worker named danny boodman on The virginian—a luxury ship—found a baby was abandoned on The piano. danny was so warmhearted that he adopted The little boy and he gave The boy a new name nineteen hundred because The boy was found in The first month of new century. as time goes, 1900 grew up though They lived in a poor living condition. however, in a serious accident danny was bad hurt and he went away several days later. 1900 became an orphan again. but music saved him from sadness and confusion. 1900 is quite gifted in music especially in piano and he became The pianist of The ship. 1900 never go ashore but he can imagine The world outside The ship wonderfully.1900 lived a calm life until he met max who was badly seasickness in a serious sea storm. max was good at play trumpet and he appreciated 1900’s music. max became 1900’s good friend soon. he told 1900 how is The outside world like and encourage 1900 go ashore because he held The view that 1900’s music would bring wealth and honor. but 1900 didn’t agree to leave because he knew nothing about outside so that he didn’t want to go out to see what The world really is. for 1900, The world is too remote.it came to a turning point when 1900 met a beautiful girl. after a couple of long voyage, 1900 decided to go ashore and to see The girl. on The day he left, all sailor waved hands to say goodbye to 1900. 1900 put on The coat that max gave him. he went down The stairs carefully, step by step, with his small suitcase. he saw The town, The street, The smoke from The high chimney. suddenly he threw his hat to The ground and turn back to The ship. he said he would never go ashore again. 1900 lost The world from Then on.at The end of The movie, 1900 was disappeared in The sea with virginian. maybe this is his best choice.after watching The movie, i still remember a lot of details of The story, which moved me so much. i can’t forget boodman taught 1900 reading on news paper. i can’t forget The smiling face on 1900 when he went through The hall playing piano in The sea storm. i can’t forget 1900’s confusion on his face when he was going to go ashore. 1900 was so gifted but he was so lonely. in that world of movie, max was The only person who knew his wonderful music after his death. outside The screen, we feel The loneliness of 1900 and we will remember this talented pianist who spent all his life on sea. The writer of it is jack london was born in12 january 1876 and died in 22 november 1916.he was an american author who wrote The call of The wild and oTher books.a pioneer in The Then-burgeoning world of xxmercial magazine fiction, he was one of The first americans to make a lucrative career exclusively from writing.buck. The main character .buck was born a distinctive dog, who had inherited strength from his faTher and wisdom from his moTher. what’s more, he was born in a notable family. thus he was brought well without much hardship.but The news that people have found gold in The arctic zone made dogs a very precious transportation tool. unfortunately, buck was sold by a greedy servant. thus began his long journey as a transportation dog. first, he was very furious with The people who got close to him. but one day, a man who was very skillful at training dogs, beat buck so hard that buck learnt The lesson of law of club and fang.form Then on, he was submissive to anyone who held a club. Then he was traded to two men who went to The arctic zone to search fortune. it was in The groups of dogs that he met The leader dog, spitz. as we have said before, buck was a dog that was very different. he had The instinct to be The leader. but The situation wasn’t that optimistic. however he waited and waited for The best chance. and at last, it did xxe. it was in The race of chasing a rabbit that buck defeated spitz and spitzwas eaten by The hungry group of dog. Then buck established his leadership. after The group of dogs got to The arctic zone, They began anoTher long and tired journey. They had to deliver letters from workers in The arctic zone to Their family members. The journey was full of hardship. They lacked of food, at The same time They had to travel a long way every day as scheduled. what’s worse, The two men who were in charge of The groups of dogs beat buck really hard.one day, The two owners beat buck so hard that he was going to die. just Then, a man named john thornton came out to stop The “slaughter”. buck was saved and he established a firm friendship with john thornton.buck helped john won a gamble and saved his life once. but what made buck really outstanding was his revenge for his master. one day aborigines slaughtered his master and The oTher people. because of buck’s deep love for his master, he lost his control and bitten The aborigines and drove Them away. in The end, he became The leader of a group of wolves in The valley where he was knownas ghost dog and where The aborigines could nevertake The risk to step into The valleywhat is “The wild” in The call of The wild? in my opinion, “The wild” means a real dog that has not been tamed by humans, a dog that wants to go back to nature without any sign of humans, or we can say a dog that wants to be a wolf, as we all know wolves are The ancestors of dogs. on The oTher hand, “The wild” also means The wild nature. so we can say that “The call of The wild” also means “The call of The nature”. why does buck want to go back to nature? buck was born in a notable family, and lived a xxfortable and happy life. but when he was sold out and had The chance to get close to nature, he got wilder and wilder. in The end, he revenged his master, drove out The aborigine and lived alone with his gang of wolves without any human. his going back to nature is a perfect explanation for his extreme disappointment to human civilization for he was badly treated by humans, even though his last master was very friendly to him.my opinion, jack london’s arrangement for buck’s fate was somewhat affected by The ideas of atavism. survival of The fittest previously buck was a verynotable and gracious dog. but when he was sold out he learnt to steal oTher dogs’ food for The first time because There was not enough food. if he didn’t steal, he mightn’t survive. loyalty though buck’s master changed for several times, he alwaysshowed respect to his masters. especially when his last master was in danger, he even risked his own life to save his master. praise for hard-working though The condition was extremely tough, buck led his group of dog to The arecas we know, buck answers The call of and returns to The wild finally. in my opinion, The call is not from The wild though buck often hears The howl of The wolves. instead, it is from The bottom of buck’s heart. The call is The will or The instinct which makes him wants to be him: a wolf. i think every one of us has a call in our hearts. The call is our dream, goal or something we really want to do.however, under The pressure of society, we often have to give up our dreams or goals, and do things we are unwilling to do. so we should learn something from buck: just follow The call, and be yourself! tic zone successfulalthough buck is a dog, but his tough way of lifeand his attitude to The life can absolutely reflect The real world of The author’s age. what’s more, The connotation The story wants to tell us is The inevitable result of The development of capitalism. it teaches us if we want to survive we must perfect ourselves now and Then and we should know The real meaning of The Theory “The survival of The fittest”. simultaneously The author suggests that in The xxpetitivesociety and The austere natural environment only The person who is of enormous perseverance and strength can have The possibility of survival. in The story, The relationship between human and dog changes along with The attitude that human treats The dog. but unfortunately, buck never receives equal love and respect from human being. actually, The author also wants to appeal for The humanity and sympathy for animals as wellThe dogs in The book are all loyal to Their masters. for example, a man makes a wager with thornton over buck's strength and devotion. buck wins The bet by breaking a half-ton sled out of The frozen ground, Then pulling it 100 yards by himself.in addition, all dogshave sense of honor. They are all proud of being sled dogs, and devote Themselves to The work. for example, dave, who is going to die, still insists on working. “sick as he was, dave resented being taken out, grunting and growling while The traces were unfastened and whimpering broken-heartedly when he saw sol-leeksin The position he had held and served so long. for The pride of trace and trail was his, and, sick to death, he could not bear that anoTher dog should do his work.” both loyalty and honor are based on love which is what touches me deeply. because of love to thornton, buck does such thing that seems impossible to acxxplish. because of sense of honor, dave insists on working till he diesas we know, buck answers The call of and returns to The wild finally. in my opinion, The call is not from The wild though buck often hears The howl of The wolves. instead, it is from The bottom of buck’s heart. The call is The will or The instinct which makes him want to be himself: a wolf.i think every one of us has a call in our hearts. The call is our dream, goal or something we really want to do.however, under The pressure ofsociety, we often have to give up our dreams or goals, and do things we are unwilling to do. so we should learn something from buck: just follow The call, and be yourself!through buck’s experiences living in The wild, jack london wants to tell us that The world is dominated by those who are much stronger and more powerful than xxmon people, and only The stronger ones could exist. this is The law of The club and fang. buck gradually realizes The law and begins to obey The law after he is stolen and taken to The wild. The savage environment which is full of tricks, dangers and deaths turns him to be more powerful and cunning. finally, he bexxes The leader of his team. similar to The wild, our society bexxes crueler and crueler, and living in The society bexxes harder and harder. if you want to exist, to have a good life, you should be tough enough to stand The sufferings; you should keep alert, watch and learn; you should make yourself stronger than oThers. this is The law of living. The legend of The queen moTher of The west The legend of The queen moTher of The west respect fellow leaders, members of The teachers, dear friends, hello, everyone. i am from tengzhou han stone museum announcer zhao chenchen. i explain The topic is" han stone western The legend".The queen moTher of The west, also known as The queen moTher, The moTher, in life we all call her The queen moTher of The west, is The warring states period most worshiped gods of. Therefore, in The period of The han dynasty portrait stone western queen has been a subject of attract sb.'s attention, especially after The middle of The eastern han dynasty, almost all The portrait stone can be seen in The queen moTher of The west 's portrait, and The location is very prominent.on The image of The queen moTher of The west, ancient public opinions are divergent. according to The book" shanhaiching" description:" queen moTher of The west, its like a tiger, leopard end tooth, good xiao peng, hoopoe, is The li si tian and five residues." mean: The queen moTher of The west was "like a man", but The tail of leopard, tiger teeth, good long call short whistling, fluffy hair, top wear armor, is titian show mighty tough and falls five disaster gods. she lives in kunlun mountains, has only called" blue bird" giantbirds of prey, for her day with food and supplies. friends, this is The first section of The queen moTher of The west description: a very fierce creatures, which can bear The fierce drive evil, bless The people of safe capacity. Therefore, The portrait stone of han dynasty, The queen moTher of The west early face mostly as documented in The literature, make threatening gestures, with sharp teeth, basically can not see a female character. people will do The queen moTher of The west world portrayed in The stone coffin wall, evil intention is obviously.but with The development of The times, The queen moTher of The west this original ugly, evil image has been gradually faded, The portrait stone of han dynasty also reflected. we see several paintings rubbings: The prime minister is rock chart: look, when The queen moTher of The west is a lady 's costume, wearing a yu sheng, temperament elegant, custom is also like royalty with a few sitting. around her and for her a three-legged crow bird feeding, a nine-tailed fox along with drive, a rabbit as she pounded elixirs, and toad for her live forever and never die dan lian, below iswearing The hat of noble in worship The queen moTher of The west, hoping to get her to live forever and never die medicine, it also reflects The ancient immortal thoughts. Then zhou muwang met The queen moTher of The west myth : look, The center of The screen with a cloud car ride is The legendary chou emperor zhou muwang, as he drove a toad, in front of six dragons guide, momentum is so large! he's going to do what? The original king mu, with baigui, black wall jade to The kunlun mountains visit The western sacred - The queen moTher of The west. you see, The queen moTher of The west is still wearing yu sheng, sitting on The high tail seat. " king mu chuan" depicted in The queen moTher of The west king mu of courtly and gentle manner of speech, in which The last dinner, two people are doing verse wish each. in The eyes of The emperor, The queen moTher of The west became The face The young goddess, she is unwilling to remain out of The limelight, especially favored by emperor wu of han rare gifts and bold strategy, to meet him, The night of seven july seven quarter drive car to drain ziyun palace, and given The emperor three thousand years bear fruit once peach. you see, when The queenmoTher of Thewest bexxe emperors of dreams, for The object, she has moved from The original monster was gradually personified, beauty. oTherwise, let mu and The emperor to 1.5 half beast monster lost, look There are always some unxxfortable.at this time, The queen moTher of The west's dutiesis a more powerful, in The people mind, The queen moTher like western savior as a divine power. The western han dynasty, folk The outbreak of a large-scale, almost swept The country worship The queen moTher of The west movement. The folk believes not only that holds The elixir of immortality, but also blessing, give, danger to. while The queen moTher of The west in faith to live forever and never die concept of taoist immortal pursuit of. gradually, The queen moTher from mythology and evolved into The taoist fairies.thus, in The imagination, good god han ancestors hands, The queen moTher of The west's image of female big eighteen change, from fuzzy to clear by The strange tendency, cute, by half man half beast monster to The beautiful lady, to The relief of disaster, bless bless, master of boundless supernatural power of god. this rich and varied image has considerable adaptability, it is suitable for different levels of faith groups, so that The queen moTher of The west in ancient chinese belief system can be enduring, have powerful vitality. my explanation is over, thank you! The republic of azerbaijanThe republic of azerbaijannews readingclass number:english name:student number:The republic of azerbaijan, whose short name is azerbaijan; The location is very unique, which is a good advantage. you know that it is a country belongs to asia, which is located in The souTheast part of The waigaojiasuo that lies in The west asia. its east to The caspian sea, south neighbors iran, and north depends on russia, west receives georgia and armenia. A Tale of Two Cities大学英语读书笔记 Notre Dame cathedral i have never been to troy, but david maule made me feel as if i were standing on the high wall of troy, watching the fierce war. thanks to this british author, who adapted the famous homer’s poem into a lively story, i found it easier to understand this story. though the story happened over 3000 years ago in a remote place, i was deeply fascinated by it.the mysterious plot is one of the reasons why i loved the story of troy so much, yet i am more interested in the human heroes of the war.hector was the eldest son of king of troy, priam. he was not only a real hero of trojan, but was regarded the highest moral hero in greek classic by later historians. the war started because of the mischief of his brother, paris, whom he didn’t appreciate. however, since hector was the commander of the trojan army, he was obliged to fight with all force. it was really a tragedy that such a valiant man died in the duel with another great warrior, achilles.it is natural to see death in a war. as a famous chinese parable says, “a life can be as slight as a piece of feather, or as weighty as mount tai.” sometimes, one’s glory walks hand in hand with one’s doom. achilles was such a typical person. his personal charm made the story of troy more attractive. he was so crucial because his every appearance in a war encouraged his fellow soldiers and terrified the enemies. actually, achilles was half-god who was almost invincible in people’s mind. that’s why his name was memorized long after his death.besides the two great men, the wisdom of odysseus also proved him to be a great hero. he didn’t want to attend the war because he was happily married and had a lovely son. however, since his country was allied to mycenae, he had to take the command given by the king of mycenae. i’m quite sure that the story of the wooden horse is widely known, however, few people know who thought of the brilliant idea, that’s why i admired odysseus so much because he was the person who got the idea. thanks to the horse, the ten-year war came to an end at last. if you want to know how the wooden horse worked, just read the book.the ancient greeks believed that the gods and goddesses also played important roles in the origin, process and ending of the whole story.the story of the golden apple was such an example. when eris, the goddess of argument and disagreement, threw out the golden apple to a wedding ceremony on mount olympus, a dispute happened. hera, the queen of gods, athena, the goddess of wisdom, and aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, were all involved in the argument for the apple. none of them was willing to give way, so they turned to paris for a final judgment. tempted by aphrodite’s beauty and promise, paris handed the apple to her. to keep her word, aphrodite helped him to get helen, the most beautiful woman in the world, as his wife. that was the cause of the war.paris’s choice obviously annoyed the other two goddesses. so during the war, they helped the greek alliance army while some other gods, such as apollo and aphrodite, guarded troy. when paris dueled with helen’s former husband menelaus, aphrodite saved paris when he was about to be finished off.after the duel between those two people, there was a truce between the greek alliance and troy. however, bothhera and athena were not happy to see it. hera pursued her husband zeus:“ now, will you send athena to make the troyjans break the peace?”(page 22) then with zeus’s permission, athena went down to start the war again and finally she brought the greeks to success.from the whole story, we can see that in ancient greeks’ view, gods sometimes played a much more important role in their life. however, with the rapid development of science, we have learned that the greek gods never existed. this is why a recent movie of troy has not mentioned a single god. everything happened due to men’s ambition, love, loyalty or jealousy. with those emotion and people’s effort, we human beings can accomplish wonders and be master of the world.god are of less importance than they used to be. nonetheless, the gods and goddesses made the story of troy more mysterious and marvelous.i have learnt from the book more than the wonderful story of history, love and war. i believe that human can determine their destiny by their own. i highly recommend this book to my friends.[大学英语的读书笔记范文]大学英语读书笔记(2)|yesterday i read a book the name of the book is《dr bethune》.dr bethune was a famous doctor titled “web usage mining :discovery and applications of usage patterns from web data”.this is the first english paper i read about dissertation and gave me great help .this paper is a review about web usage mining. it introduced web usage mining in detail . although it is a little old for it was published in xx its contents are veryuseful today . it is organized according to the sequence of web usage mining and the six main parts are introduction which tells me what is web usage mining the sources and abstraction of web data the three steps of web usage mining taxonomy and project survey websift overview privacy issues . the third and fourth parts are most important . it had a list of existing project about web usage mining which i saw many times in other papers but this paper is the one creating this list . besides it has been referred for more then twenty times . as we all know that the higher the referred number is the more important the paper is so i consider this paper to be an important and successful one in this region.in my opinion the success of this paper dues to three reasons . the first reason is the profound computer knowledge owned by the authors . web usage mining relates to many subjects such as artificial intelligence ontology semantic analysis but the most basic knowledge is computer science . the four authors are all professors of department of computer science and engineering in university of minnesota . for myself i am not major in computer science and i am not very good at computers so i feel a littledifficult to understand technologies used in this region.second they had read a large number of papers before they wrote this paper . there are fifty nine references listed after main contents . “stand on the shoulders of giants” this sentence tell us a truth : one can never successful all by oneself . and what’s more learn from others can save a lot of time and energy especially for us new learner . how to learn from others is a skill all of us should master but learning doesn’t mean copy or plagiary . other people’s knowledge and production is just our foundation upon this foundation we must have our own thoughts and creation. there are many remarks in this paper where referred other’s production.third the authors had the experience of developing a web usage mining project . they don’t just engage in idle theorizing so their comprehension on this issue is greatly profound. they know what we may meet in a real project development and they know how to resolve them . after reading this paper i also read some other papers written in chinese . some of them are not based on real project and can not give useful resolution . websift is thename of system they developed which can be used to data mining and analysis .i wrote this article not only because it gave me much help in preparing my dissertation but also because it tells me how to study and how to do research . honesty and preciseness are two essential making a researcher must have . hard-working is the necessary condition leading to success . this is just the beginning of my dissertation i should learn from these four authors both their knowledge and their attitude to study.[大学英语读书笔记 A Tale of Two Citiessub-info" id="sub3">大学英语读书笔记(3) | a tale of two cities occupies a central place in the canon of charles dickens's works. this novel of the french revolution was originally serialized in the author's own periodical all the year round. weekly publication of chapters 1-3 of book 1 began on april 30, 1859. in an innovative move, dickens simultaneously released installments of the novel on a monthly basis, beginning with all of book 1 in june and concluding with the last eight chapters of book 3 in december. dickens took advantage of the novel's serial publication to experiment with characterization, plot, andtheme. he described the work in a letter to his friend john forster, cited in rudi glancy's a tale of two cities: dickens's revolutionary novel, as "a picturesque story rising in every chapter, with characters true to nature, but whom the story should express more than they should express themselves by dialogue." the novel that emerged from his experimentation is now regarded as one of dickens's most popular and most innovative works.dickens's work was very popular with the reading public when it was first published. one review in the magazine athenaeum stated that a tale of two cities had attracted the praise of a hundred thousand readers. on the other hand, a whole set of critics, most notably sir james fitzjames stephen writing in saturday review, criticized the novel precisely for its popularity. "most of the critics writing in the intellectual and literary journals of the day considered popular success a good reason to condemn a work," explains glancy. "if the public liked it, they certainly could not be seen to approve of it at all." modern critical opinion, however, has given the novel an important place among dickens's most mature works of fiction.[大学英语读书笔记Notre Dame cathedralsub-info" id="sub4">大学英语读书笔记(4)| 《notre dame cathedral》 is one known far and wide romantic faction strength which victor hugo writes . i take advantage of this summer vacation free time, read this great work.notre dame cathedral's story, actually was one at that time social epic poem, since brimmed with really. friendly. beautiful, also the flow selfish desire and is false. regardless of is good beautiful asmelada ,or has the ugly semblance, cacimodo with one pure mind, they represent the great amount the lower level populace which suppresses; perhaps is sinister coloud, he is appears by the theocracy face, all load bearing one kind of author's ponder.the author in this work, for with the clown, was beautifully friendly and wickedly does the best annotation, or take above three people as the example, the rebel asmelada has the beautiful semblance and the chaste good mind, as well as pitiful destiny, but cacimodo, he withstood destiny deceive nicely, the innermost feelings is his misery is graver, but coloud maintained the benighted social rights and interests, he had brutally. void mind and evil passion. good person physique hateful, but the evil person actuallysays the appearance shore however, bright set off, social unfair manifest.but the article result also is when the opposition society until criticism: all beautiful is good all swallows by the might and the evil, the lower level people's weak strength in under the king power rule, in the benighted society, only can be reduced to ashes. was palatial notre dame cathedral, how many world tragedy testimony once, in hugo the novel, he as if had the life breath, he sheltered asmelada ,exposed coloud the crime, regret the populace attack the magnificent feat which dark actually heroically devoted...another the question which is worth pondering is: who is the hero? asmelada or cacimodo? i think all is not, but is in the article by the louis 11 rank smell of blood suppression rather for sacreficed the populace gate, asmelada with cacimodo is not in them the representative, asmelada is loves with the beautiful symbol, cacimodo not many represents is unfortunate and the pain. but they, all suffer a tragic middle ages ignorant evil forces devastate, one each one painful soul is bleeding, flows the tear. merely is notre dame cathedral's above engraves " thedestiny "? they are in middle ages france, despotism sacrificial victim.the entire story rich tragic color, the plot intense is moving, exciting. author hugo through " notre dame cathedral " this story, but also disclosed at that time the dark society's essence to the people. this fascinating story likes that ccimodo clocks sound equally shocks several generation of readers' minds.相关推荐:大学英语读书笔记范文大学英语读书笔记 The legend of Troy大学英语读书笔记 Sherlock Holmes and Watsonl。
例如:“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife” 这是一个典型的主从复合句,“It is a truth universally acknowledged”是一个形式主语的结构,真正的主语是“tha t a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife”。
我读的第一本原著是《老人与海》(The Old Man and the Sea)。
可他嘴里一直念叨着:“I'll never give up I'll fight till the end”(我永远不会放弃。

篇一:Pride and Prejudice(傲慢与偏见读书笔记)Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century. The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book. The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in poss ession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughte rs. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century. In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married. In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind.A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in oursociety. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social l ives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.篇二:Camille(卡米尔读书笔记)I read the Chinese version of “Camille” a few years ago. At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. “Camille” or “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800's, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. Unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a noble woman at heart. When I first began to read the book, I did not care for Marguerite or her attitude or lifestyle, but as I got furtherinto the narrative, I realized that her saucy attitude was a front to cover the lonely woman that she really was. She felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentle Armand Duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person and not for what she could do for him. It must have taken great courage for Marguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. And it also showed that Marguerite really loved Armand Duval for she could even change herself for him. However, happiness didn’t last for long. When M. Duval, Armand's father, came to her, pleading for her to leave Armand to save both Armand's reputation and that of his younger innocent sister, Marguerite saw a way to become pure of heart, if not in body. She felt that it was her duty, because she loved Armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting Armand temporarily. She reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that.some day Armand would forgive her. Sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, Julie Duprat, who helped her during her illness. She had her journal sent to Armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. I think Dumas's last few lines about Marguerite being the exception, not the rule were quite true, and I also agreed with his view that while her lifestyle could not be condoned, we as a society assume that all of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always be the case. A person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, and try to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them from changing their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. This applies to both men and women in many different types of circumstances:involvement in crime; drug or alcohol abuse; gambling; prostitution; financial problems; poor marriage choices; etc. And this is the fact, which exists in the whole society. As far as the other characters in the book, I think Marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted something from her, the only exceptions being Armand and Julie Duprat. Of course, the Comte de G. and Comte de N. wanted her body and appearance. TheDuke needed to “wake up and smell the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. If he truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifestyle without “keeping” her himself. And lastly, Prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used Marguerite almost worse than the men. I also think she was jealous of the fact that Marguerite had so much more courage than herself and someone truly loved her.Last morning, when tiding my bookshelf, I took this book out of the shelf, and a dried flower flew away from the book. It was pale blue, very transparent, with thin fine veins. a dried flower flew away from the book. It was pale blue, very transparent, with thin fine veins. I held it against the morning light and blew on it. The soft breeze carried it away. Camille is just like the camellia, she could never escape from the destiny of withering. But it wasn’t her fault; it’s because of the evil of Capitalism and the hideousness of that society.Suddenly, I remembered a saying: “Women are like the flowers”. Those pretty women are like those beautiful flowers; their delicate beauty makes people feel they are the miracle of life. However, even the God envies their beauty. It seems that beautiful women always have tragic endings. As we are normal persons, even we can see the hideousness of humanity thatresults in their fate of withering, we can at most ask quietly in our hearts: Where have those beautiful flowers gone? Where have they gone? The Life And Adventures Of Robinson CrusoeIt seemed to be such a coincidence that the night after I finished reading The Life And Adventures Of Robinson Crusoe, I was to dine in a restaurant distinctly related to the book itself. This restaurant was no other than the famous American-styled “Friday ’s. ” The reason for mentioning this restaurant is quite straightforward to all the gentlemen, ladies and children who have read the novel and enjoyed it, which is the fact that this restaurant was, most likely, named after the American Native in Robinson Crusoe, called Friday. This restaurant offers very exceptional service, for instance when the waitresses are asked to order dishes they kneel rather than stand, which, unlike the other restaurants I have been to, makes it easier for the customers to hear them speak. Moreover, Friday’s friendly services to the customers help them to make better choices when ordering dishes. I remembered when I went to Friday ’s last time; the waitress kindly described the items on the menu with precise details. It turned out that the combo I initially wanted was designed to be shared among a large group, not to be eaten by one person. I think this restaurant shows many commendable features similar to that of Friday. Friday brought emotional warmth to the people around him with his appealing personality.I think it was this personality that affected Crusoe and made him say that he loved Friday when Crusoe didn ’t express love for his parents, brothers, sisters, or even his wife. “When he espied me, he came running to me, laying himself down again upon the ground, with all the possible signs of an humble, thankfuldisposition, making many antic gestures to show it to let me know how he would serve me as long as he lived.” This was what Friday did after Crusoe had rescued him from the two savages chasing him. It was easy for me to see why Crusoe had loved Friday. After sometime, Crusoe and Friday were to rescue Friday’s father. When Friday reunited with his father, the scene was easy to move anyone: “It would have moved anyone to tears to have seen how Friday kissed him, embraced him, hugged him, cried, laughed, halloed, jumped about, danced, sung; and then sung and jumped about again, like a distracted creature. It was a good while before I could make him speak to me.” This is my favourite chapter in the whole book. It is hard to see why Friday is an ex-savage when he can have personalities more praiseworthy than many civilized people, viz. Crusoe himself. “When he (Friday) went to him (Friday’s father), he would sit down by him, open his breast, and hold his father’s head close to his bosom, half an hour together, to nourish it; then he took his arms and ankles, which were numbed and stiff with the binding, and rubbed them with his hands.” Furthermore, Friday’s expression of loyalty in asking Crusoe to kill him rather than leave him is more heartfelt than anything Crusoe ever says or does.Crusoe, on the absolute contrary, seems incapable of deep feelings, as shown by his account of leaving his family—he never shows any emotions. After a moving lecture from Robinson’s father about his future, he still decided to follow his own wandering ambition. Careless was he about the wishes of his parents to keep him alive and prosperous, as he was the only child left in the family. When he came back from the island which he had lived on for twenty eight years, he found that it had beentoo late to tell his parents that he was still alive, but yet again he did not feel sorry for them; he also did not feel sorry for the two people who had to live in misery for nearly thirty years under the allusion all of their sons were dead. He had the same feelings for his wife: when he was married, he said it was “not either to my disadvantage or dissatisfaction”, implying that it was also neither to his advantage nor his satisfaction. Moreover, after his wife died, Robinson did not think of looking after the three children they had, but went back to the island, which he had lived on for twenty-eight years. It was on this trip which Robinson Crusoe revisited “His Island ” as he called it. I feel that Robinson ’s indifference to his family is almost emotionally cruel. Before had clearly shown the cont rast between Crusoe’s and Friday’s personalities, as when Friday, in his joyful reunion with his father, displayed far more emotion toward his family members than Crusoe, whereas Crusoe never mentions missing his family or dreams about the happiness of seeing them again.I think Defore is very successful in introducing Friday as part of the novel, it makes the whole novel seem much more complete and gripping to the reader, as well as proving that Defoe’s ideology of racism is civilized unlike many other Europeans at that time; natives and savages are not worse than others but can perhaps even be more modern and civilized. Those are the reasons of why I like The Life And Adventures Of Robinson Crusoe and Friday.篇三:Jane Eyer(简爱读书笔记)This is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can beinterpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit. It seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer. I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn’t get wh at she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation. Jane did want to give him a hand, however, she made up her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own principles, because she was Jane Eyer. The film has finally got a symbolist end: Jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned. After finding Rochester ’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chose to staywith him forever.I don’t know what others feel, but frankly speaking, I would rather regard the section that Jane began her teaching job in Thornfield as the film’s end----especially when I heard Jane’s words “Never in my life have I been awaken so happily. ” For one thing, this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what Jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person; for another, this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get. But the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result: There must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to enrich the story, but also we may see from the next transition of Jane’s life that “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.”What ’s more, this film didn’t end when Jane left Thornfield. For Jane Eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude, but for Rochester, how he can get salvation? The film gives the answer tentatively: Jane eventually got back to Rochester. In fact, when Jane met Rochester for the first time, she scared his horse and made his heel strained, to a certain extent, which meant Rochester would get retrieval because of Jane. We can consider Rochester’s experie nces as that of religion meaning. The fire by his frantic wife was the punishment for the cynicism early in his life. After it, Rochester got the mercy of the God and the love of the woman whom he loved. Here we can say: human nature and divinity get united perfectly in order to let such a story accord with the requirements of both two sides. The value of this film may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism underthe faith of religion.。

Impression after reading Ode to a nightingaleAfter reading Ode to a nightingale, I felt my blood boiled, I was on fire and full of enthusiasm and just could not calm down. It is so romantic and I had been touched so much. In fact, although the title of the poem is “Ode to a nightingale”, throughout the poem, it has basically little words describing the nightingale directly however thewriter mainly uses the graceful image of nightingale to express his own feelings. It is said that a nightingalewill die on a full moon night. And at midnight, it will fly to the highest rose-tree, and uses the thorn scratch its chest, then makes out a sonorous sound, singing loudlyuntil the blood of the heart dries and reds the roses on the branches. Meanwhile this sound of singing seems like could perate everywhere and everything and keep an eternal life. I see the energy and hope of life and a bright future, and suddenly get courage and bee positive. I think the poem makes me feel in that way.And the author of Ode to nightingale is John Keats whois a Romantic Poet from UK. He was born at a poor family in the end of 18 century in London. In 1818, when Keats was 23 years old he got tuberculosis while also was deeply in love with Miss Fannie Boone. Just under such a terrible condition which between agony, poverty and sweetness, Keats was quite enthusiastic, full of grief and indignation and kept the desire for life in his heart. Therefore, he wrote the poem Ode to a Nightingale on a sober night and panied with the loud sound of the birds. It is acknowledged that the poet was in difficulties and tied out however at this time he heard the nightingale’s loud singing like an inspiring ring. His heart was moved by such sound of singing. I remember the poem was written like this, “That I may drink, and leave the world unseen, and with thee fade away into the forest dim. Fade far away, dissolve, and quite forget what thou amongst the leaves hast never known, The weariness, the fever, and the fret Here, where men sit and hear each other groan; Where palsy shakes a few, sad, last grey hairs.” The soft night and beautiful surroundings make Keats feel fortable andenjoyable. Even though he does not know the names of the flowers, he feels them by heart and soul. What’ more, he absorbs in this world and hope he can always live in such a place where is far from that dark society. Ode to a Nightingale has a clear feature of romance, Keats uses perfect metaphors, gorgeous and quite fluent words to express his strong ideas and deep desire to free world. And I consider the British romance style reaches perfection from Keats.
例如,“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife” 这句话一开始让我有些困惑,但通过查阅词典和分析语法,我明白了它的意思:“凡是有钱的单身汉,总想娶位太太,这已经成了一条举世公认的真理。
接下来读的是《老人与海》(The Old Man and the Sea)。
比如,“But a man is not made for defeat A man can be destroyed but not defeated” (一个人并不是生来要给打败的,你尽可以把他消灭掉,可就是打不败他。

一、经典文学作品1、《简·爱》(Jane Eyre)“Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity or registering wrongs”这句话的意思是“生命对我来说太短暂,不能用来怀恨记仇。
2、《傲慢与偏见》(Pride and Prejudice)“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wi fe”“凡是有钱的单身汉,总想娶位太太,这已经成了一条举世公认的真理。
3、《老人与海》(The Old Man and the Sea)“But a man is not made for defeat A man can be destroyed but not defeated”“一个人并不是生来要给打败的,你尽可以把他消灭掉,可就是打不败他。
二、实用英语教材1、《新概念英语》“A man can never have too many ties”一个男人有再多的领带也不为过。
Notre Dame cathedral
大学英语读书笔记 Notre Dame cathedral第一篇:Notre Dame cathedralsally2014071536class 05monday, april 18, 2014Notre Dame cathedralthe novel entitled Notre Dame cathedral was written by an eminent french writer victor hugo. it is hugo first romantic fiction about a french story which happened in the 15 century. this romantic style of his writing can be felt the beautiful world, but he also pointed the darkpower in the black, especially the ruling class's cruelty. in Notre Dame cathedral, all beautiful is good all swallows by the might and the evil, the lower level people's weak strength in under the king power rule, in the benighted society, only can be reduced to ashes. Notre Dame cathedral is mainly about a love story but sadly.esmeralda, a beautiful 16 year old gypsy with a kind and generous heart, captures the hearts of many men but especially quasimodo's adopted father, claude frollo. frollo is torn between his lust and the rules of the church. he orders quasimodo to get her. quasimodo is caught and whipped and ordered to be tied down in the heat. esmeralda seeing his thirst, offers him water. it saves her, for she captures the heart of the hunchback. she is later accused of the murder of phoebus whom frollo killed in jealousy, and is sentenced to death by hanging. quasimodo savesher by bringing her to the cathedral under the law of sanctuary. frollo rallies the truands(criminals of paris)to charge the cathedral. the king, seeing the chaos, vetoes the law of sanctuary and commands his troops to take her out and kill her. when quasimodo sees the truands, he assumes they are three to hurt esmeralda, so he drives them off. frollo betrays esmeralda by handing her to thetroops and watches while she is hanged. quasimodo pushes him from Notre-Dame to his death. he then goes to esmeralda's grave, lies next to her corpse and eventually dies of starvation.when i finished reading, what in my mind is not the beautiful girl but the ugly, kind-hearted of bell ringer, quasimodo. in his mind, there is a place that hold warm water, the water the gypsy girl gave him, and also brought him the love. the fiction not only show us the pure love of quasimodo, but also reveal the dark background in society at that time. under the king's control, people sadly crippled by the chains of discrimination, no choice, no freedom. i am thinking that at that time quasimodo's love just like a beautiful but fragile flower in the rainstorm, a bright sunshine but faint in the dark, even though ,there is still a ray of hope in people's mind.第二篇:Notre Dame de paristhe book report of "Notre Dame de paris""Notre Dame de paris" is the famous 19th century french writer victor hugo's masterpiece. a 15th century novel about the bizarre life of paris, compared with the way the author depicts a group of distinctive character of a lively, very artistic appeal of the characters to disputes between thecomplicated contradictions and tragic fate of a rich complex analysis of the human world.Notre Dame cathedral's story, actually was one at that regretthepopulace attack the magnificent feat which dark actually heroicallydevoted.the novel showed a strong contrast of beauty and ugliness. although archdeacon claude has a serious and dignified appearance andknowledgeable, but also has a serious mental illness.however, quasimodo ,the appearance of deformed person has a pure and noble soul. one is evil - claude, while the other is an angel - a noblequasimodo. it just goes to show that the appearance of beauty can't represent everything, but the beauty of the soul is more important. someone with the angel appearance may not be warmed-hearted,and ugly man is notnecessarily a demon. the appearance of beauty is only temporary, but the beauty of soul is eternal.as long as a person has a noble heart, no matter how he looks like, he is beautiful.on the surface of the beauty and ugliness, this is ahuman every day in the discussion of topics, but how many people deeply observed one's heart is beautiful or ugly? beauty is a person's nature, and people don't always be confused by the beauty of the surface, the inner beauty ignored?inner beauty and outer beauty, the topic of human permanent, bring us deep thought.第三篇:the hunchback of Notre Damebeauty and uglinessthe hunchback of Notre Dame (original french title:Notre-Dame de pairs) is an french novel written by victor hugo in1831. victor hugo is a novelist 、poet and dramatist, who is the most important of french romantic writers. hugo?s another famous masterpiece is les miserables.this book is set in 1482 in france, paris, which is under thegovern of the louis 11 .in this book, the beautiful and kind gibbet la esmeralda attracted the priest ---claude frollo?s attention while she was dancing in the front square of the Notre-Dame deparis .besides, she ewked the priest?s evil sexual lust .so claude frollo ordered his adopted-son the ugly bell-ringer---quasimodo to kidnap esmeralda. however esmeralda was saved by the captain phoebus de chateau, and esmeralda soon fell in love with captain phoebus .but phoebus was born dissolute, he was assassinated by the angry claude, even though phoebus was not died .claude transferred this accusation to esmeralda and made her to be sentenced to death quasimodo saved esmeralda and hide her inthe Notre Dame de pairs. the beggars ran into the church to rescue esmeralda and fight with quasimodo wrongly .on the other hand , ensenada was hanged in the square by the army leading by claude .after quasimodo knew the truth ,he pulled claude from the top of the church angrily .and in the end quasimodo died hugging esmeralda ?s dead body .this book shows what true beauty is. in this book, there are full of the conflicts between beauty and the ugliness, the kindness and evil. esmeralda is a woman blends the beauty and kindness. she is beautiful just like a fairy, a angel. she is so kind that she may save the enemy. in this book, esmeralda saved two men; one is the poet pierre gringo ire. to save him esmeralda sacrificed her marriage. another man is quasimodo who once kidnapped her. but she didn?t care for this and still fed him with water. quasimodo is a man blends the beauty and ugliness. he is a cripple and deaf. besides,he has monstrous hands, big feet and irregular teeth. in short, you can not imagine how ugly he is! even though, he has his own beauties. he is noble and pure.he is thankful to all the people who once give him a hand.just as the famous saying goes “do not judge a person byone?s appearance”. so we should run after the inner beauty not only the outer beauty. in a word, i like this book indeed. it indicates what true beauty on earth is. “it will realize that everything in creation is not humanly beautiful, that the ugly exists beside the beautiful, the unshapely beside the graceful, the grotesque on the reverse of the sublime, evil with good, darkness with light.” Notre Dame de pari in my mindNotre Dame de pari in my mindNotre Dame cathedral's
