阅读理解A[2020·重庆第一次调研]A shirt, tie and blazer may not be my favorite, but if I were given the choice, I wouldn't throw away the idea of school uniform. Wearing a uniform is a badge of pride, creates an identity for a school and is an important part of being a school student. My school is one of many that seem to be shifting to a more formal uniform —this September I will be wearing a shirt and blazer instead of my old jumper and polo shirt. A number of students have complained about the change, but some people believe that a school uniform can improve learning by reducing distraction, sharpening focus on schoolwork and making the classroom a more serious environment, allowing students to perform better academically. Perhaps most importantly, a uniform means students don't have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to their clothes. When everyone is dressed the same, worrying about what you look like isn't so important. There is no competition about being dressed in the latest trend, which would put a great deal of financial pressure on students and parents. Potential bullies have one less target for their insults; it's hard to make fun of what someone is wearing when you're dressed exactly the same.In America, where a majority of schools do not have a uniform, roughly 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation (恐吓,威胁) by other students. Thismight not be directly linked to what they're wearing, but having a uniform can be a safety net for many students who might otherwise suffer from bullying. A uniform gives the impression that rules are strict, perhaps helping maintain a sense of order at school. My uniform might not be what I would wear in my own time, but it gives me a sense of belonging, takes away the pressure of what to wear and stops the bullies. School uniform isn't fashionable, but that's exactly why I think it should be here to stay.1.Why does the writer mention American children without uniforms in the passage?A.T o show pity for American kids.B.To raise the government's attention.C.T o prove the benefits of school uniform.D.To inform readers of American kids' uniforms.2.What is the writer's attitude towards school uniforms?A.Disapproving. B.Confused.C.Suspicious. D.Favorable.3.Which is the advantage of wearing school uniforms for school kids?A.It sharpens concentration on outdoor tasks.B.It removes the teachers' financial pressure.C.It satisfies students' dressing tastes and favorites.D.It helps students maintain a sense of order at school.4.What is the best title for the passage?A.My Cool School UniformB.The Point of School UniformC.The Idea of Dressing ProperlyD.The Way of Guarding Kids' SafetyB[2020·唐山一模]Since their earliest days, American colleges and universities have based their study programs around what is known as the liberal arts.Liberal arts education does not require students to study only one subject. Apart from a major like history or politics, students also take classes in other subjects that may not directly relate to their majors. This is meant to give students a wider understanding of the world as well as improve the critical thinking skills. However, in recent years, many Americans have avoided liberal arts degree programs. That is mainly due to the belief that students who graduate with degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, known as STEM, are more likely to find well-paid jobs. But a new survey conducted by the labor market research company Emsiand the Strada Education Network research group suggests liberal arts graduates are just as desirable to employers in the modern labor market.According to the survey, 82% of liberal arts degree holders from four-year programs are employed. Those who are employed full-time made about $ 20,000 more per year than people with no higher education at all. And liberal arts degree holders with advanced degrees earned an additional $ 20,000 on average.Rob Sentz, who works with Emsi, says an engineering student may be immediately hired after graduation. But very often, engineering programs fail to teach students how to work well with others or communicate complex ideas in a simple way. Those are exactly the types of skills taught in liberal arts education.Nicole Smith, an economist: notes that with the rise of artificialintelligence, companies producing these intelligent machines need help teaching them how to think more like and interact with human beings. They need help selling products and solving problems, which are skills that come from a liberal arts education.Sentz and Smith agree the biggest challenge facing liberal arts graduates is showing employers what their skills are and the value they represent.5.Why does liberal arts education require students to learn more than their majors?A.T o teach students how to communicate with others.B.To broaden students' horizons and promote their critical thinking.C.To encourage students to learn as many subjects as possible.D.To push students toward liberal arts degree programs.6.What advantage do liberal arts graduates have over STEM graduates?A.They have more access to well-paid jobs.B.They have greater appeal for employers.C.They are more skilled in communicating.D.They are better at designing intelligent machines.7.What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 7 refer to?A.Machines. B.Graduates.C.Companies. D.Skills.8.What's the main idea of the text?A.The modern labor market is full of great challenges.B.Liberal arts education needs to reform its study programs.C.STEM graduates are losing their advantages in the labor market.D.Liberal arts graduates have a bright future in the labor market.Ⅱ. __1__. However college students have a burden of studying. How do they manage to complete a huge number of assignments and still find the time to have fun? Here are some effective time management tips that can be used outside of college.__2__. Let's say, your friend is sick and misses a very important class. You can help him by telling something you've learned there and lending him your notes. Next time you have no time to read a book you need to read and this very friend can retell it to you highlighting the key points.Use technologies. In 2000, when I was around seven years old, my parents, sister, brother, and I were coming back from a picnic. That was our usual weekend adventure, but unlike every other weekend, a surprise was waiting for us in our driveway. There, we saw two adult geese (鹅) and a young goose. The adults were surprised by our return and flew away, but their baby was still too young to fly and couldn’t follow. We are no strangers to the ways of wildlife, so we knew to avoid physical contact with the young goose out of fear that it would stay with us and be lost to its family forever.Hours passed, and night fell. With it came the coldness. The tiny little thing was walking around our yard and it was clear that the goose needed protection and warmth. At that point, we knew we had to help, аnd wе brоught hіm іntо оur bасk роrсh (门廊).We all pretty much slept with one eye open till morning came. And then another morning. And still another. Each morning, we would try to shoo (赶走) the goose to his parents, who kept coming back to our yard. He wouldn’t go to them, though, and they wouldn’t come close enough to take him. We kept this up for five days, but no luck. By then, the young goose had clearly decided we were his new family, so we had to give him a name. My sister Joanna called him Peeper, because he would follow us around the yard making a peeping noise, nonstop. We also decided that Peeper was a boy. I don’t know why; it just felt right.Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months until almost a year passed. Peeper slept in our back porch each night. My dad would clean all the goose droppings daily. He would throw Peeper up into the air so he could fly a loop (圈) around the house, coming back again once the porch was clean.

I put a small set of Tinkertoys in front of each student, and said: "Make something out of the Tinkertoys. You have 45 minutes today — and 45 minutes each day for the rest of the week."A few students hesitated to start. They waited to see what the rest of the class would do. Several others checked the instructions and made something according to one of the model plans provided. Another group built something out of their own imaginations.Once I had a boy who worked experimentally with Tinkertoys in his free time. His constructions filled a shelf in the art classroom and a good part of his bedroom at home. I was delighted at the presence of such a student. Here was an exceptionally creative mind at work. His presence meant that I had an unexpected teaching assistant in class whose creativity would infect(感染)other students.zx.xkEncouraging this kind of thinking has a downside. I ran the risk of losing those students who had a different style of thinking. Without fail one would declare, "But I’m just not creative.""Do you dream at night when you’re asleep?""Oh, sure.""So tell me one of your most interesting dreams." The student would tell something wildly imaginative. Flying in the sky or in a time machine or growing three heads. "That’s pretty creative. Who does that for you?""Nobody. A New Addition to the FamilyFor the initial ten years of his life, Victor was the prince of the household. As he was an only child, his parents petted him and showered all their love and attention on him. Whatever toys his parents bought, they were always meant for him. Whatever food was in the refrigerator, there was no one to compete with him to polish it off first. Victor could leave his toys or books around the house with complete ease of mind, knowing that there was no one who would get their hands on his belongings and cause any damage. However, all that was to change overnight when Victor’s parents brought back his new baby sister, Lina, from the hospital. With her rosy cheeks, wide open eyes and angelic smile, Lina caught the hearts of her parents, grandparents and relatives. Everyone focused their attention on the cute bunch of joy. Whenever she cried, her mother or father would rush to her bed. She simply cried because she wanted to be carried. There was little time left for Victor. Now that Victor’s mother had his baby si ster to take care of, she expected Victor himself to do most of the chores he can do. Victor was asked to clean his own room, iron his own school uniform and clean his own shoes. Before Lina’s arrival, he had never lifted a finger to help out with these tasks. The whole family also went out less because it was unhealthy to expose Lina to the bacteria(细菌) being in the outside world too often.Victor felt neglected by his parents. He felt that they loved Lina more than him. As a result, he tried to attract h is parents’ attention by becoming resistant. One evening, Victor’s parents were called up by his teacher because Victor had got into a fight at school. Herbal MedicineHerbal medicine, which has been used for medicinal purposes, is the use of plants to treat diseases. Many herbalists use the entire plant, from the flowers, stems, leaves, and roots, in the form of everything from teas to pills. These plants contain natural, chemical things that can treat the body for a variety of diseases, such as allergies, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine, chronic fatigue, and cancer, among others.Nowadays an increasing number of people prefer to adopt these plants to treat their diseases because, compared with chemical medicine, herbal medicine has its own advantages. Herbal medicine and remedies are more effective than chemical medicine for certain diseases. The chemical medicine given by a chemist could have certain negative side effects. However, many of the herbal medicine and remedies to not have negative side effects. If any, they are softer than chemical medicine. Obesity is the cause of many of the health problems. Herbal medicine can help weight loss more effectively and improve overall health. However, the cure using herbal medicine and supplements would take some time, and therefore people are supposed to possess enough patience. Worse still, herbal medicine contains a variety of ingredients and people have to be sure that their body agrees with the ingredients and that it is not allergic.A point worth mentioning here is that herbal remedies and medicine for certain illnesses may have negative side effects. These side effects may not be shown at once, but would take months or even years. In the early stages, if the herbal medicine is not agreeing with you, it is wise to stop using it.When used correctly and directed by doctors, herbs can help treat a variety of disease. Butkeep in mind that the herbal medicine industry is not regulated, so herbal products are often misleading and may contain additives that are not listed on the label. Some herbs may cause allergic reactions or interact with other drugs, and some are poisonous if used improperly or at high doses. Taking herbs on your own increases your risk._______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________2.阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60 词左右的内容概要。

双语阅读Casual swearing is a great perquisite of adulthood, and one of the first that kids attempt to seize for themselves. Cigarettes and wine coolers make teens feel grown up, but obtaining those takes ingenuity, to say nothing of money. Swearing might be an art difficult to master in your youth, but it’s free. At ten or eleven or twelve, itchy for adulthood before the long slog of puberty has begun, kids can perform maturity by swearing with brio.

Every kid is a virtuoso of language: those monkey-hear toddler approximations, a six-year-old’s idiosyncratic pronunciations, the malapropisms that continue well into adolescence. Most students experience a lot of stress while preparing for exams,as both their parents and teachers expect them to get high scores. Students who feel anxious are likely to experience problems like difficulty in concentrating while studying, confusion, feeling stressed while looking at difficult questions, feeling blank, sweating, sleepless, etc. Under such circumstances they end up scoring less than they could have. Therefore,it's extremely important for students to learn about how to overcome fear,so that they can take their examination confidently, finally earning good grades. Here are a few tips on ways to overcome exam fear. There are many students who take studies lightly, leaving everything to be studied at the last minute. As a result, when exams are around the corner, they feel scared,as they don't know where to start, and what to study. So the easiest way of overcoming this problem is to start studying much before the exam. Another common mistake that many students make is that they don't make an effort to understand the subject. When they have memorized without understanding, the chances of forgetting are more. Therefore,it is vital to understand the concept before memorizing it. In this way, you will never forget any important point. Besides, that the exams are coming does not mean that you have to sit with your books for the entire day,and students should take regular breaks to relax and refresh their mind. However, they should avoid watching too much TV and addicting themselves to the Internet,in which way, they are more likely to waste time.Apart from the tips above, here are some points that will help students cope with exam-related anxiety. For example, before the exam, avoid studying anything new or having conversations with your classmates about what they have studied and how much they have studied, both of which will make you more nervous. During the exam, if you get blank after seeing difficult questions, ignore them for the time being, and attempt those you find easier. Once you have completed them,go back to the difficult ones._______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________【答案】Most students experience stress during examinations as a result of high expectations from parents and teachers.(要点1) Here are some tips to deal with exam fear to guarantee better grades.

【精选真题01】(2022·江西重点校联考)For many people, bookstores are wonderful places. That's because the books on the shelves can take you away to magical lands, help you learn a foreign language, or cook a delicious meal. But when your community is too small to house a brick bookstore, you have to come up with another idea. A mobile bookstore was the result. That is the case for Rita Collins,70, who dreamed of opening a used bookstore after retiring from teaching.A business planning class from the American Booksellers Association convinced Collins to give up her idea of opening a bookstore in the small town where she lives. Her town, Eureka, Montana, only has a population of1,517. Collins asked her instructors about a traveling bookstore on wheels and they doubted her idea. But she insisted on it.Collins was inspired by Dylans Mobile Bookstore, a traveling bookstore in Wales run by Jeff Towns. She contacted Jeff for advice but she was largely on her own when it came to building her bookstore. First, she had to find a vehicle large enough to stand in. Then she had to have it refitted with shelves that would hold the books at a15-degree angle so that they would stay in place while traveling. Collins named her bookstore St. Rita's Traveling Bookstore, which has been on the road since 2015.At first, she drove through Montana and then she made her first cross-country trip in 2016. After she retired in2017, it became a full-time job. Collins and her bookstore have visited 30 states, stopping at festivals and events along the way. Collins loves meeting people and making connections. While she loves what she does, Collins doesn't think she can keep doing it. In several years, she hopes to pas her traveling bookstore onto another book lover who shares the same interest and will keep it on the road.24. Why did Collins abandon opening a bookstore?A. It cost a lot of money.B. It was not promising.C. It would be out of date.D. It was not approved.25. Why were the shelves designed at a 15-degree angle?A. To beautify the mobile bookstore.B. 阅读理解A(山东省德州市2020届高三期末考试)The year was 1999.I was 18, living with friends in a town about an hour north of Milwaukee.Desperate for adventure, we often talked about haunted(闹鬼的) locations, and even wandered around the woods near Rienzi Cemetery. So when a friend shared a story about an abandoned house just down the road from Rienzi, how could I possibly resist? The group of us jumped in the car and headed off into the wild unknown, completely unaware of the misfortune that would soon befall us.The house was isolated, overgrown and barely visible from the road. Most of its windows were broken. It seemed completely neglected except the locked door and a “NO ENTRY” sign outside. How would anyone notice, or possibly even care, if we went in and looked around? We stole inside, hoping for anything to prove the legend.Nothing valuable was found until an old letter, addressed to a Mr.J.Witherell,caught my eye.Its paper was stiff and yellowed.Excited by the physical evidence, I slipped the letter into my back pocket.I was about to exit the house when I noticed fire trucks and police cars lining up out on the road. While most of us were exploring the house, one of us managed to knock a fire detector off the ceiling, which triggered an automated alarm at the fire department.I quickly alerted the others, but there would be no escape. After a moment of panic, we decided to go outside and face the music. To avoid a theft charge, I left the letter where it was before stepping outside. The result? Not only did we all get fined for entering, we were required to pay for property damage totaling $1,500 each—too much for us to afford. For so many years, I have been wondering: Why is the deserted house so heavily protected with detectors and other security measures? Why is the property regularly maintained? What's the story behind that mysterious letter?【语篇解读】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了作者和几个伙伴去一间废弃的房屋探险的故事。

''Some nights my heart was breaking to have to pick between my kids and studying for exams or papers,'' she says. Text 2(2020
As any younger brother will tell you, having a big brother involves a lot of walking in someone else’s shadow, especially when you have a brother who is a typical example of “cool”. For years I wanted to do everything my elder brother Tyson did, but no matter how hard I tried, I was always the neglected (被忽略的) one. My legs just weren’t made to run like his. I could never play football or basketball well.I probably would have continued trying to keep up with him for the rest of my high school career, but when my family moved, everything changed. Tyson left for college, so I had to start at a new school all by myself. This new start gave me an opportunity to redefine myself and discover an entirely new version of “cool”.I don’t know what made me decide to try some new activities at the new school, but one day I chanced to show up for an after-school meeting of the Science Olympiad team. I had always been fascinated with chemistry, biology, and math, but since those interests hadn’t fit Tyson’s definition of “cool”, I had never pursued them. On this day, for some reason, I did.As we organized teams, prepared resources and practiced answering questions, I felt more connected than I ever had to any sports team. I didn’t feel as though I needed to keep up with anybody else; I was finally with peers who understood me. It was so good to feel accepted for what I’m good at. For the first time in my life, I actually felt cool. Now I know who I am! I’m Tyson’s little brother, but that’s only part of my identity. I’m a cool guy in my own way, too. I’m relieved to know that “cool” has a much broader definition than what I used to think.56. How do you understand the underlined part in Paragraph 1?
