For me, my family and my three best girlfriends mean everything to me.Some days I didn’t want to go to school because I felt so disappointed in myself but I don’t regret a thing. It makes you stronger as a person, and if you are able to mend your friendships as I have done, then you can do anything. My mother always told me, “Stephanie, remember that a friend is a gift that you give yourself. A friend will make you laugh and be there for the good or bad. A true friend will never make fun of you. If a friend is a piece of work, then he or she has never been a friend at all. A friend is the biggest gift to yourself.”Everyone is going to make mistakes but please don’t push them away, especially if it’s someone you really care about. I know when I make a mistake I beat myself up about it. I just wish someone would reach out a hand to help me back on my feet as my best friends did. If someone is new or doesn’t have a friend, please reach out and behind him/her because that small action could mean the world to him/her. Now that I’m older, I understand what my mom has been trying to tell me, and now I know that the friends that I choose will also be the kinds of friends that I would want to be surrounded by forever.46. According to the passage, a true friend should be a person that _________.A. often gives you giftsB. makes you happyC. does both good or bad things to youD. seldom makes fun of you47. It can be inferred from the passage that the writer _________.A. understands what a friend means to herB. doesn’t think that friends will make her truly happyC. doesn’t have many friendsD. has nothing except her family and three friends48. If you hope to have a friend, you should do the following EXCEPT_________.A. giving advice and offering help if he or she makes mistakesB. regarding him or her as a piece of workC. considering him or her a valuable giftD. trying to treat a newcomer as a friend49. The last sentence probably means_________.A. people around me are all my friendsB. I only choose the people around me to be my friendsC. the friends I choose will surround me every dayD. my true friends would always be by my side for my joys and sorrowsPassage BA son and his father were walking on the mountains. Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: “AAAhhhhhhhhhh!!!”To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountains: “AAAhhhhhhhhhh!!!”Curious, he shouts:“Who are you?” He receives the answer:“Who are you?” And then he screams to the mountain: “I admire you!” The voice answers: “I admire you!”Angered at the response, he screams: “Coward (one without courage)!” He receives the answer: “Coward!”He looks to his father and asks: “What's going on?” The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.”Again the man screams at the top of his voice: “You are a champion!” The voice answers: “You are a champion!”The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father explains: “People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.”This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; life will give you back everything you have given to it.”50. The boy is surprised because __________.A. he falls over his own feet.B. his father can shout as loud as he does.C. he hears his screams repeated.D. someone calls him a coward.51. What’s the father’s attitude towards life?A. hopefulB. disappointedC. upsetD. hopeless52. Which of the following sayings is in keeping with the father’s teachings?A. Faith will move mountains.B. A great talker is a great liar.C. Love me, love my dog.D. Do well and have well.Passage CWhile watching the Olympics the other night, I came across an unbelievable sight. It was not a gold medal, or a world record broken, but a show of courage. The event was swimming and started with only three men on the blocks. For one reason or another, two of them false started, so they were disqualified. That left only one to complete. It would have been difficult enough, not having anyone to race against, even though the time on the clock is important.I watched the man dive off the block and knew right away that something was wrong. I'm not an expert swimmer, but I can tell a good dive from a poor one, and this was not exactly medal quality. When he resurfaced, it was evident that the man was not out for gold —his arms were waving in an attempt at freestyle. The crowd started to laugh. Clearly this man was not a medal competitor.I listened to the crowd begin to laugh at this poor man who was clearly having a hard time. Finally he made his turn to start back.It was pitiful. He made a few desperate strokes and you could tell he was worn out.But in those few awful strokes, the crowd had changed. No longer were they laughing, but beginning to cheer. Some even began to stand and shout “Come on, you can do it!” and he did.A clear minute past the average swimmer, this young man finally finished his race. The crowdwent wild. You would have thought that he had won the gold, and he should have. Even though he was recorded one of the slowest times in Olympic history, this man gave more heart than any of the other competitors.Just a short year ago, he had never even swum, let alone race. His country had been invited to Sydney. In a competition where athletes remove their silver medals feeling they have somehow been cheated out of gold, or when they act so proudly in front of their competitors, it is nice to watch an underdog.53. From the passage we can learn that the young man ________.A. made his turn to start back pitifullyB. was skillful in freestyle in the gameC. swam faster than the average swimmerD. was not capable enough to win the medal54. The crowd changed their attitudes because ________.A. they felt sorry for the young manB. they were moved by the young manC. they wanted to show their sympathyD. they meant to please the young man55. According to the passage, “it is nice to watch an underdog”probably means _______.A. it’s amusing to watch a man with awful swimming skillsB. it’s amazing to watch an ordinary man challenging himselfC. it’s cheerful for athletes to act proudly before their competitorsD. it’s b rave enough for some athletes to remove the silver medals四、交际用语(总分80分)(i)补全对话(根据下面的对话,从所提供的7个选项中选出5个最佳选项,将对话补充完整。

Each week we tell you some popular American expressions. The bag is one of the most simple and useful things in the world. It is a container made of paper or cloth. It has given the world many strange expressions that are not very simple. Some of them are used in the United States today. One is “bagman”. It describes a go-between. The go-between sees to it that money is passed—often illegally—from one person to another.Another widely-used expression is “let the cat out of the bag”. It is used when someone tells something that was supposed to be secret. No one can explain how the cat got into the bag.
