If you just remember that planting what is more than you need will take the stress away of losing some plants, you will save yourself a lot of worry, too.Besides, you need to ask yourself which plants produce enough food to make them worth growing.I actually sat down and did the maths on that one this spring. It amazed me what some plants were worth.A tomato, for example, can produce £50-£150 worth of fruit. It takes up a lot of space but that's a lot of money coming out of a 50-pence seed (种子孙)!So if I had known earlier what each plant could save us,I would have told my parents to fill our garden with different plants. And finally, gardening doesn't have to be all or nothing. But then I guess that's more of a personality weakness than anything.I struggle with doing things a little at a time.Once I decide to do something,Iusually devote every waking hour to it for a little while and then get tired. So it's okay to just have one tomato plant, and it's okay to have an off year.It will save you a lot of stress.27. What does the writer want to tell us about gardening in paragraph 1?______A. The gardeners can make much money.B. It's just about creating a beautiful place.C. The most important is to express yourself.D. It means different things to different people.28. How would the writer describe her favorite garden?______A. Simple.B. Expensive.C. Magic.D. Creative.29. What advice does the writer give us about gardening?______A. Use what we can find around us.B. Try to make a career out of it.C. Ask other gardeners to give help.D. Spend as much time as we can.30. What can we learn about the writer's gardening experience?______A. She wants to grow everything.B. She did everything right.C. She has a lot of fun in doing it.D. She needs to work harder.31. What does the underlined word "devote" mean in the last paragraph?______A. Waste.B. Spend.C. Change.D. Count.五、任务型阅读-多任务混合(本大题共2小题,共20.0分)32. 阅读下面文本,完成问题。

Big data can have different kinds of information from many sources, such as information that comes from schools, social media sites, companies and governments. One set of data can have people’s names and addresses. Another set can have what they like, where they go to school, and how much time they spend on the computer.Big data can be used in many ways. The government uses it to understand how many people travel on buses or trains. This information is then used to make bus or train systems better. Some schools use big data to understand which children may need help in class. The teacher can then give certain students more help or support so those students can succeed in school. Companies use big data, too. It helps them understand who buys their products. For example, one company uses weather data to see when people eat the most ice cream.Big data can be used for good reasons. Some hospitals use big data to predict if a baby who is born too early will get sick. The hospital can then take steps to take care of that baby so he or she does not get sick. Big data can also be used for bad reasons. It can be used to predict which kinds of people are likely to break the law or hurt others, even if they have not done anything wrong. How can big data be used for good and bad things? It is because the computer programs used to look at big data and understand it are written by people. People think a certain way. Because they think a certain way, they build a model of those ideas. These ideas are then used to look at the data. Sometimes, these ideas are helpful for people or businesses. Other times, bad ideas can cause problems for certain groups of people.36.What can we know from Paragraph 1?A.The computer program can’t look for anything in the data.B.Big data can have different kinds of information from social media sites.C.We are not able to have people’s names and addresses in the data.37.What does one company use weather information to do?A.To help children in need.B.To know when people will visit the hospital.C.To understand when people will need ice cream.38.What is the main idea of Paragraph 3 ?A.Big data can be used for good reasonsB.We can use big data to prevent babies from getting sick.C.Big data can be used for both good and bad reasons.39.What does the passage mainly tell us?A.what big data is and how it is usedB.what schools and hospitals people likeC.where important data is collected and stored40.The overall tone (总基调) of this reading is .A.sad and personal B.scientific and informative C.informative but silly二、补全短文6选5There are some skills for students to listen to the teacher in class, which means you’re going to have to practice it. I started learning French when I was 10 years old. But my whole experience with the language was in the classroom. All of that changed, however, during my last summer of high school. As a17-year-old girl, I flew across the country by myself for the first time! I headed for Quebec to live in the province with a French-speaking host family, who didn’t speak any English. And I would learn French at a local school. On the first day of school, all of us students were given a test to determine(测定)our language level. We were required to speak only French all summer.I made every effort to communicate in a second language by making new friends, seeing movies and even ordering food from restaurants in French. Though I couldn’t understand most of it at the very beginning, the whole experience was exciting and refreshing. On weekends, my classmates and I took trips to different places around the province. On one trip, we went whale watching on the St. Lawrence River. Even though it was raining, we could see huge whales swimming around our boat. The most memorable part of our trip was a visit to historic Quebec City. I walked along the stone streets, took pictures of the European-style(欧式的)buildings, and learned some stories there. Finally my efforts paid off! At the end of the summer, I was able to communicate pretty well. I couldn’t wait to go back to school and talk with my French teacher. Being fully immersed(沉浸)in a French-speaking environment was a valuable learning experience. And it could be the main reason for my improvement in French.66.When did the writer start learning French?__________________________________________________67.How did the local school determine the students’ language level?__________________________________________________68.Did the writer enjoy the experience of communicating in French?__________________________________________________69.What did the writer think of the visit to historic Quebec City?__________________________________________________70.What could be the main reason for the writer’s improvement in French?__________________________________________________七、语篇翻译Every year, US magazine Time picks the best inventions of the year. Nursery for newly-born babiesBTime spent in a bookshop can be most enjoyable, whether you are a book lover or merely go there to buy a book as a present. You may even have entered the shop just to find shelter from a sudden shower.Whatever the reason, you can soon become totally unaware of your surroundings. The desire to pick up a book with an attractive dust jacket is irresistible(不可抗拒的), although this method of selection ought not be followed, as you might end up with a rather dull book. You soon become interested in some book or other, and usually it is only much later that you realize you have spent far too much time there and must dash off to keep some forgotten appointment----without buying a book, of course. This opportunity to escape the realities of everyday life is, I think, the main attraction of a bookshop. There are not many places where it is possible to do this. A music shop is very much like a bookshop. You can wander round such places to your heart’s content. If it is a good shop, no assistant will approach you with the inevitable greeting: “Can I help you, sir?” You needn’t buy anything you don’t want. In a bookshop an assistant should remain in the background until you have finished browsing. Then, and only then, are his services necessary. This sort of thing can be very dangerous. Apart from running up a huge account(欠下一大笔债), you can waste a great deal of time wandering from section to section.72. Answer the question.(回答问题)(12%)The coffee tree is a native of eastern Africa, but it was in Arabia that it first became known to the people in Europe, and until about they year 1700 A.D. That country produced the entire supply. Then the coffee seeds found their way to Java, by means of some traders, and one of the first plants grown on that island was sent to South America, where the cultivation(种植)of coffee has steadily increased, extending to the West Indies, until now the offspring(后代)of this one plant produce more coffee than is obtained from all the other plants in the world. The plant is evergreen, and is from six to twelve feet high, the stem(茎)being from ten to fifteen inches in diameter. Its fruit is like a cherry, and is very good to eat. Under the pulp(果肉)of this cherry found the bean or berry we call coffee, wrapped in a fine, thin skin. The berry is at first very soft, and has a bad taste; but as the cherry ripens the berry grows harder, and the dried-up fruit becomes a shell or pod(荚)of a deep brown color. When the fruit is so ripe that it can be shaken from the tree, the husks(外壳)are separated from the berries, and are used, in Arabia, by the natives, while the berries are sold. Before the berry can be used, it undergoes a process of roasting. The amount of aromatic(芳香的)oil brought out in roasting has much to do with the market value of coffee, and it has been found that the longer the raw coffee is kept, the richer it becomes in this oil, and so the more valuable. But after the coffee is roasted, and especially after it is ground(磨碎), it loses its aroma rapidly.Arabia produces the celebrated Mocha coffee, which is the finest in the world; but little or none of the best product is ever taken out of that country, The Java coffee from the East Indies is next prized, but the best quality of this kind is also quite difficult to obtain, and many, therefor, prefer the finest grades of Rio coffee from South America to such Mocha and Java.88. Where was coffee first supplied?89. How did the plant come to be grown in other countries?90. Where can the bean or berry be found?91. Why do many people prefer Rio coffee to Mocha and Java?92. Around the room, I saw several other parents. I thought that for those little kids, Christmas just meant a long holiday, so I expected 16 but fun. But when my son’s class rose to sing “Christmas Love”, I was a little bit surprised by its title.Nicholas was excited, 17 were all of his classmates. Those in the front row held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of the song. As the class would sing “C is for Christmas”, a child would hold up the letter C.Then, “H is for Happy”, and on and on until all the children presented the complete title- “Christmas Love”.The show was going smoothly when a little girl in the front row held the letter “M” upside down—totally not knowing her letter “M” appeared as “W”. Besides, in decent(像样的)restaurants, you can always ask for a knife and fork, if you find the chopsticks not helpful enough. The real difference is that in the West, you have your own plate of food, while in China the dishes are placed on the table and everyone shares. If you are being treated to a forma(正式的)dinner and particularly if the host thinks you’re in the country for the first time, he will do his best to give you a taste of many different types of dishes. The meal usually begins with a set of at least four cold dishes, followed by the main courses of hot meat and vegetable dishes. Soup will then be served(unless it is a Guangdong-style restaurant), followed by rice, noodles or dumplings. Perhaps one of the things that surprise a Western visitor most is that some of the Chinese hosts like to put food onto their guests’ plates. In formal dinners, there are always “public” chopsticks and spoons for this purpose, but some hosts may use their own chopsticks. This is a sign of real friendship and politeness. It is always polite to eat the food. If you do not eat it, just leave the food on the plate. People in China tend to over-order food, for they will find it embarrassing(令人难堪的)if all the food is consumed(吃光). When you have had enough, just say so, or you will always overeat!24.What’s the real difference between Chinese and Western table manners?A.The tools people use to eat.B.Whether people share food on the same plate.C.The things people like to eat.D.How to begin the dinner politely. 25.If a foreigner first comes to have dinner in a Chinese family, he may be ________.A.given little food B.served with rice firstC.served with many dishes D.asked to use “public” chopsticks 26.Which of the following is the RIGHT order for most Chinese formal dinners according to the passage?A.Rice-soup-hot meat-cold dishes.B.Vegetable dishes-soup-dumplings-cold dishes.C.Cold dishes-hot meat-soup-rice.D.Cold dishes-soup-hot meat-rice. 27.What’s the best title for this passage?A.Having dinner with foreigners.B.How to use chopsticks.C.The importance of table manners.D.Chinese table manners. Can you write the Chinese character(汉字)"ganga" (embarrassment) correctly? Do you know how to write characters like "tiaozhou"(broom)? If you can't, you're not alone. Nowadays, most people are typing into computers instead of writing on paper. We type Chinese characters largely according to their pronunciation. The result is to recognize(认出)characters without remembering how to write them. China Youth Daily did a survey of 2,517 people, in which 90 percent said they had once forgotten how to write a common Chinese character.Compared to adults, teenagers are better at writing Chinese characters because they spend more time learning and practicing at school. However, the influence of digital(数字的)technology cannot be ignored(忽视), according to He Yu, head of a research team for Chinese teaching at a Beijing high school. "Many students are obsessed with digital tools such as mobile phones and computers to help with their studies. As a result, too much use of these tools will make students too lazy to think and write. " he said Such worries have brought about:popular TV show titled Chinese Spelling Hero, which pays attention to Chinese character writing among teenagers. In April, the Ministry of Education called for better calligraphy(书法)education in schools.Organizations like the China Calligraphers Association are also working to train more teachers in calligraphy. Interestingly, calligraphy teachers can't always ignore the influence of modern technology. Shen Bin is a calligraphy teacher at a primary school in Beijing. After spending hours indoors, do you feel better when you visit your local park? Most people think that nature is good for our bodies and brains. However, humans are spending more time inside and less time outside. For example, the number of visitors to Canada's national parks is getting lower every year. And in countries such as the USA, only 10% teenagers can spend time outside every day. Many doctors feel this is a problem in the 2lst century. As a result, some doctors are studying the connection between nature and health: one example of this is the work of Dr. Matilda in Sweden. The doctor gave people a maths test. During the test, their heart rates(心率)were fast. After the test, one group of people sat in a 3D-vitual-reality(虚拟现实)room for fifteen minutes with pictures and sounds of nature. Their heart rates were slower than people's in the other group. The virtual touch with nature helped them feel more relaxed. Another god example of how nature is good for health comes from Canada. In Toronto, researchers studied 31,000 people living in the city. In general, they found that healthier people lived near parks.Because of studies like these, some countries and cities want nature to be part of people's everyday life. In Dubai, for example, there are plans for a new shopping mall with a large garden so shoppers can relax outside with trees, plants and water. In Switzerland, "forest schools" are popular. Many children study their subjects in the forests and do lots of exercise outside. And South Korea is another good example: it has new forests near its cities and around 13 million people visit these forests every year. So after building cities for so long, perhaps it's now time to start rebuilding nature.36.The writer starts the passage by __________.A.telling stories B.comparing numbersC.asking questions D.giving suggestions37.Which of the following is NOT TRUE?A.In Switzerland, many children study in the forests and do lots of activities outside.B.In South Korea, about 13 million people visit new forests near the cities every year.C.In Dubai, a new shopping mall with a large garden has been built already.D.In the USA, only 10% teenagers can spend time outside every day.38.We can infer from the passage that __________.A.fewer and fewer Canadians will live near parksB.people used to break the rule of nature to develop citiesC.the virtual touch with nature helped them feel more relaxedD.people's heart rates get quicker in a 3D-virtual-reality room39.If we put the passage into three parts, which of the following is the best?(①=Para. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I quickly found myself caught up in the excitement of catching up with old friends and making new ones.In the classroom, the air was filled with the sound of laughter and chatter as everyone caught up on their summer adventures. I felt a sense of belonging as I sat among myclassmates, and I realized that this year was going to be a good one.As the day went on, I found myself getting used to the routine of classes and homework again. 八十字的英语开学作文使用现在完成时九年级全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My New School YearWow, another school year has begun! I've just started 9th grade and so much has already happened. Over the summer, I went to camp and made some new friends that I've already hung out with a few times. I've also grown a few inches taller since last year!On the first day, I was really nervous because I didn't know any of my teachers or what classes would be like. But I've met some cool people in my classes so far. My math class in particular has been really fun - I've learned how to factor polynomials and graph equations already. I think I've finally started to get the hang of algebra. One thing that has been hard is getting used to having so much homework every night. Between math, English, science, and history, I've spent hours working on assignments. I've had to become way more organized with my time. Mom and Dad have been helping me set up a schedule and routine. In English class, we've been studying different types of essays and narratives. I've really enjoyed the creative writing units so far. We just finished writing personal narratives, and I wrote mine about the time I got lost at the amusement park when I was little. I've also read some classics like To Kill a Mockingbird which was sad but very powerful. My science class has been really interesting too. So far, we've learned about the scientific method, conducted some simple experiments, and started a unit on chemistry. I've loved getting to do hands-on activities and labs. Last week, we did an experiment combining different household chemicals to see their reactions. It was awesome but also a little smelly! For history, we've been studying ancient civilizations and have learned about societies in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. I've been fascinated by all the myths, art, architecture, and technological innovations of those early cultures. My favorite unit so far was on ancient Greece - I've read some excerpts from Greek philosophers and tragedies which were complex but really engaging.Outside of classes, I've gotten more involved in school clubs and activities too. I joined the school's environmental club because I've become really passionate about sustainability andwildlife conservation efforts. At our first meeting, I've already learned about ways to reduce energy usage and recycle more at school.I've also continued with my dance classes after school. This year, I've taken on helping to teach and lead some of the younger kids' classes. It's been a new challenge coordinating the classes but I've gained more confidence. Our dance team has also started preparing for the upcoming competitions later this year.Another thing I've really gotten into recently is coding and computer programming. Over the summer, I took an online course to learn Python. I've been practicing building basic programs and apps. It's been confusing at times, but also really fun figuring it all out. Hopefully I can take a computer science class at school next year.On the social side of things, I've made some new friends through my classes and clubs. My best friend Sophie and I have kept in touch over the summer, and we've already had several sleepovers to catch up. We're still giggling about all the silly things that happened at camp. I've also reconnected with old friends from last year. However, there have been some not so fun developments socially. A group of older students has been picking on some of the 9th graders, including me and my friends a few times. They'll make rude comments or jokes when we walk by. I've tried to just ignore them and avoid walking near them in the halls. Hopefully that bullying stuff doesn't continue.Other than that little issue, it's been a really positive start to the year! My classes have been engaging, I've made new friends, and stayed involved in activities I enjoy. I know I've got a lot of work ahead, but I feel prepared and motivated to make this a great year. Freshman year, here I come!篇2I'm so excited for a brand new school year! I've done so many fun things over the summer. I've been to the beach, the park, and even went camping with my family. Now it's time to go back to school and I've prepared all my new supplies. This summer has been incredible! I've had so many adventures and experiences that I'll never forget. One of the highlights was definitely the camping trip my family took in July. We've been going camping every summer for as long as I can remember, but this year's trip was extra special. We've always camped at the same spot by the lake, but this time we decided to try somewhere new. We've heard such great things about Pine Ridge campground from our friends, so we packed up and headed there instead. The campsite was absolutely beautiful - it's been nestled in amongst towering pine trees with a lovely little creek running alongside it. I've never seen anything quite like it before. As soon as we arrived, I've instantly felt at peace amongst nature. The stresses of everyday life have melted away as I've breathed in the crisp, clean air. We've quickly set up our tents and then my dad has shown me how to build a proper campfire. I've watched intently as he's gathered the tinder and kindling, carefully constructing the fire pit. With the strike of a match, the flames have crackled to life, dancing merrily. I've added more wood, mesmerized by the warm, flickering glow. That first night around the campfire has been utterly magical. We've told stories, roasted marshmallows, and my dad has even taught me how to play the harmonica which he's had since he was my age. The soothing melody has blended with the chirping crickets and hooting owls, creating nature's symphony. I've stayed up late, gazing up at the myriad of stars glittering in the inky night sky. I've never seen so many before - without thebright city lights, the sky has seemed to stretch on endlessly, winking down at me.The days have blended together in a haze of hiking, swimming, and campfires. My brother and I have spent hours exploring the winding forest trails, inspecting every intriguing bug, plant and rock we've came across. We've found a picturesque waterfall tucked away and have cooled off in its icy pool. We've saw a family of deer ambling through the trees and have watched in silent awe. Out here, surrounded by nature's magic, I've felt more awake and alive than ever before.Camping has reconnected me with a simpler way of life - the days have moved at a slower pace, following the rising and setting sun rather than clocks and schedules. Cooking over the campfire and sleeping beneath the stars has grounded me, reminding me what's truly important. One of my favorite moments has been early morning, when the forest has begun stirring to life with the first rosy rays of dawn. I've risen early, savoring the crisp morning air and the sweet serenading of songbirds. Those peaceful, soul-nourishing moments have taught me to appreciate the little things that I've so often taken for granted.Of course, there have been challenges too - like the thunderstorm that has rolled in unexpectedly one night, drenching our campsite with heavy rain. We've all had to work together to secure things down and take cover in our tents, riding out the storm. Though it's been loud and a little scary at first, the rhythmic drumming of the raindrops on our tent has eventually lulled me into a deep, cozy sleep. Waking up to clear skies and a fresh earthy scent the next morning has made me appreciate sunny days even more.As much as I've loved our camping adventures, I've also simply enjoyed spending quality time with my family away from distractions and responsibilities. Out in nature with no TV, video games or smartphones to constantly divide our attention, we've been able to truly be present with each other. We've had amazing conversations around the campfire, sharing our thoughts, dreams and silly jokes. I've made incredible memories that I'll cherish forever. With a tinge of sadness, I've watched my dad carefully extinguish the final campfire on our last night. As the embers have faded, I've felt a newfound respect for the outdoors and everything it's taught me. I've experienced the harmony and peace of living simply, of being kinder to the earth. Once we'vereturned home, I've missed the fresh mountain air, the earthy campfire smell lingering on my clothes, the soothing babble of the creek. Though I've enjoyed familiar comforts like my cozy bed and a hot shower, I've also felt disconnected from nature's grounding energy. This trip has shifted my perspective - I've gained a deeper appreciation for the great outdoors right on my doorstep. Now as I've started a new school year, I've felt refreshed and rejuvenated from my summer in nature. While I've still got a busy schedule of classes, homework and activities, I've vowed to take time to disconnect from technology篇3Going Back to School After the SummerWow, summer vacation has totally flown by! It feels like just yesterday that I was celebrating the last day of 8th grade. This summer has been awesome - I've hung out with my friends pretty much every day, stayed up late playing video games, and slept in till noon most mornings. My mom has nagged me a bunch to get my lazy butt off the couch, but what else are you supposed to do over summer break? We've done some fun stuff as a family too. A few weeks ago, we went camping up in the mountains. I've been on that camping trip every summer since I was a little kid. We always go hiking, make s'mores over the campfire, and try to see who can catch the biggest fish. This year, I caught a huge trout! It was definitely the biggest one I've ever caught. My dad was so proud.A couple weeks after that, my cousins visited from Arizona for a few days. We haven't seen them in ages since they live so far away. We had a big barbecue and stayed up late every night playing truth or dare and trading scary stories. One of the nights, we all slept out under the stars in the backyard, just like we used to when we were little kids. It was so much fun being all together again after so long apart. Now that summer's over though, I've been getting pretty nervous about starting high school. I've watched a bunch of movies and TV shows about high school, and it seems like everything is totally different. The work is supposed to be a lot harder, and you have to actually try in your classes to get good grades. There's so much pressure to fit in and be popular. And high school romances always seem so dramatic and emotional!I've gone back-to-school shopping with my mom a few times to get supplies and new clothes. I've gotten pretty much allnew stuff – new backpack, lunchbox, binders, notebooks, pencils, the works. I've also gotten a whole new wardrobe filled with cool graphic tees, ripped jeans, and fresh kicks. Dressing to impress is apparently super important in high school.A couple of my friends from middle school have already warned me about which teachers I should try to get and which ones to avoid at all costs. They've also been giving me the inside scoop on which kids have already established themselves as the popular, cool crowds that everyone wants to be friends with. I'm honestly pretty nervous about having to navigate all the different social groups and cliques. My parents have tried their best to ease my nerves about starting high school. They've reminded me over and over about what an outstanding student I've always been. As long as I continue working hard, getting involved in extracurriculars, and being a good friend, they say I'll fit in just fine. Part of me believes them, but another part worries that high school will be like the movies - an intense social pressure-cooker full of impossible standards to live up to.No matter how nervous I am though, there's no stopping the first day of high school from coming. In just a couple more days, summer will officially be over. I've already gotten my scheduleand locker assignment in the mail. Freshman year is going to be here before I know it!At least I've gotten to spend these last few days staying up late, sleeping in, and cherishing what's left of the freedom of summer. I've played online multiplayer games with my friends for hours on end. We've met up at the park to play basketball almost every afternoon too. And of course, I've binge watched a ton of shows and YouTubers to take my mind off the looming start of school. As excited as I am to start this new chapter, I already miss the long, lazy days of summer. No responsibilities, no homework, no waking up early. Just months of pure freedom stretching endlessly ahead. Those days are going to seem so far away once I'm back in the grind of homework, tests, activities, and the general insanity of high school life. But such is life, I suppose. The cycle of summer fun and back-to-school chaos will be continuing until I graduate. I've accepted that I just have to power through, try my best, and make the most of it all. Who knows, maybe these will end up being the glory days that I look back so fondly on decades from now.For now though, the first day of high school has finally arrived. My new outfits are picked out, my backpack is loaded up with fresh school supplies, and I've gone over my schedule about a million times. I've triple checked to make sure I have my lunch money, student ID, and combination to my locker securely memorized. As nervous as I am, I've also never felt so ready. The long, blissful days of summer have come to a close. But a new adventure, full of possibilities and memories waiting to be made, is just getting started. Here goes nothing!篇4School Has Been So Fun!Wow, the school year has just begun and I've already had so many great experiences! It's been really exciting to start 9th grade and be in high school now. I've felt so grown up walking through the big hallways and going to my locker. My classes have been pretty good so far too. English has been my favorite because we've already started reading a really cool novel. We've analyzed the first few chapters and I've learned about literary techniques like foreshadowing and symbolism. It's been way more interesting than I thought!Spanish has been pretty tough though. We've jumped right into past tense conjugations and I've gotten pretty confused trying to remember all the different verb forms. My teacher has given us a ton of homework and quizzes already. I've stayed up late quite a few nights this week working on vocab worksheets. Hopefully it will get easier soon!Science has been fun because we've done a bunch of hands-on experiments already. Last week, we've measured the acceleration of different objects rolling down ramps. I've learned how to calculate velocity and acceleration from position and time data. It's been cool getting to apply the formulas and concepts we're learning. My gym class has definitely been my favorite though! We've started our unit on basketball and I've really enjoyed playing. I've already made a few impressive shots and my team has won most of the games we've played. I've felt like such a star on the court!I've also joined a few clubs and activities. At our first meeting, the math club has tackledsome tricky brain teasers and logic puzzles. It's been really rewarding when I've finally figured them out. I've also attended community service club, and we've already begun planning some volunteering projects for later this year.Of course, making new friends has probably been the best part of starting high school. I've met so many nice, interesting people already. My neighbors from elementary school have introduced me to their friends, and I've joined a fun crew to hang out with at lunch. We've eaten together every day and I've loved getting to know them better. I've made sure to be super outgoing and friendly, and it's paid off! We've also started a group text and we've made plans for all sorts of fun activities outside of school. Just last weekend, we've gone to the movies together and grabbed dinner at a burger place afterwards. It's been so fantastic getting to do normal teenage things with my new friends. There have been a few stressful moments too, like when I've accidentally hit the snooze button too many times and been almost late to class. Or when I've forgotten to do an important assignment and had to beg the teacher for an extension. But overall, it's been a wonderfully smooth transition into high school so far.I've felt so happy and grateful for all the opportunities I've had in just these first few weeks. I feel like I've already grown so much as a person. I've become more responsible, more studious, and more independent. High school has definitely been anexciting new adventure so far! I've made so many fun memories already and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store. Ninth grade has been off to an incredible start!篇5My Summer VacationWow, summer vacation was sooooo much fun! I've done so many cool things over the past few months. First of all, I've been to the beach like a million times with my family. We've built huge sandcastles and played tons of fun games in the ocean. I've gotten pretty good at bodyboarding and riding the waves. One time, a big wave knocked me over and I totally ate a bunch of saltwater! It was gross but also funny.I've also gone camping a few times in the woods near our house. We've set up our tent, made s'mores over the campfire, and told spooky ghost stories at night. Sleeping in the tent was awesome except for when it rained really hard one night. Our tent started leaking and everything got soaked! We had to pack up quickly and head home in the middle of the night. What an adventure!Of course, I've played lots of video games too during my time off from school. I've beaten several new games and earneda bunch of trophies and achievements. My favorites are the open-world games where you can just explore a huge map and go on quests and stuff. I've put in like 100 hours into this one game already! My parents have had to pry the controller from my hands and force me to go outside sometimes.Speaking of outside, I've also gone on quite a few hikes and bike rides around the neighborhood parks and trails. It's been nice to get some exercise and fresh air. I've taken tons of pictures of the cool plants, animals, and landscapes I've seen. One time I almost stepped on a snake! That was a close one.And of course, what would summer be without swimming? Our community pool has been my second home. I'vecannon-balled off the diving board more times than I can count. I've played chicken fights and pool篇6Here's an 2000 word essay in English, written from the perspective of a 9th grade student using the present perfect tense, on the topic of "Back to School":Hi there! My name is Alex, and I'm super excited to share my thoughts with you about going back to school. It's been a longsummer filled with fun adventures, but now it's time to hit the books again. Let me tell you all about it!First off, I've been counting down the days until school starts.I know, I know, most kids dread the end of summer, but I genuinely love learning and being around my friends. The summer break has been great, but I've missed the routine and structure that school provides.Speaking of friends, I've kept in touch with my buddies over the summer, but it's not the same as seeing them every day. We've texted and played online games together, but I can't wait to catch up with them in person and hear all about their summer escapades. As for me, I've had quite the eventful summer myself. My family and I have visited a few exciting places. We've gone camping in the mountains, where we've hiked through stunning forests and roasted marshmallows over a campfire. We've also taken a trip to the beach, where we've built sandcastles, swam in the ocean, and collected seashells. But as much fun as those adventures have been, I've also spent a good chunk of my summer preparing for the upcoming school year. I've reviewed some of the material from last year tokeep my brain sharp, and I've even gotten a head start on some of the topics we'll be covering this year.I've also been working on some extracurricular projects. I've taken an online coding course, where I've learned how to create my own basic websites and games. It's been challenging, but extremely rewarding. I've also been practicing my Spanish skills by reading books and watching shows in that language. Now, as the first day of school approaches, I've been getting my supplies ready. I've bought new notebooks, pens, and a fancy new backpack to carry everything in. I've even picked out my first-day-of-school outfit, which I've been carefully planning for weeks.Of course, with the excitement of going back to school also comes a bit of nervousness. I've been wondering if I'll have any classes with my friends, and if I'll like all my new teachers. But mostly, I'm just eager to dive back into learning and growing my knowledge. One thing I've been particularly looking forward to is joining some new clubs and activities this year. I've always been interested in drama, so I'm planning on auditioning for the school play. I've also thought about joining the chess club or the robotics team, though I haven't quite decided yet.As for my classes, I'm most excited about the ones that will challenge me intellectually. I've always been a bit of a math whiz, so I can't wait to tackle more advanced concepts in that subject. I'm also really interested in learning more about history and how the world has evolved over time.Of course, no school year is complete without a few dreaded subjects. For me, that's usually been English class. Don't get me wrong, I love reading and writing, but all the grammar rules and literary analysis sometimes make my head spin. Still, I'm determined to work hard and improve in that area this year.Speaking of work, I've also been thinking about mylong-term goals and what I want to do after high school. Right now, I'm leaning towards pursuing a career in either engineering or computer science. I've always been fascinated by how things work and how technology can be used to solve problems and make the world a better place. But enough about me and my plans! I'm sure you're all wondering what else I've been up to over the summer. Well, let me tell you about the time I accidentally locked myself out of the house while my parents were at work. It was a hot day, and I had gone outside to play basketball in the driveway. After a few hours of shooting hoops, I went back inside to grab a drink, butthe door had locked behind me. I've spent nearly two hours sitting on the front porch, waiting for my parents to come home and let me back in. Needless to say, I've learned my lesson about always carrying a spare key!Oh, and I can't forget to mention the time my friends and I tried to start our own lemonade stand business. We've spent days making flyers and signs, squeezing lemons, and setting up our little stand on the corner of my street. Unfortunately, we've only made a few dollars before a rainstorm ruined our plans. But hey, at least we've learned some valuable entrepreneurial skills!Anyway, I could go on and on about my summer adventures, but I should probably wrap things up. As much fun as I've had these past few months, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things at school. I can't wait to see what this new year has in store for me.So, there you have it, my thoughts on going back to school after a long, eventful summer. I've been counting down the days, and now it's finally almost here. Wish me luck, and here's to a great year filled with new knowledge, new friends, and new experiences!。
