《格列佛游记》英文读后感《格列佛游记》英文读后感(精选33篇)《格列佛游记》英文读后感 1One of the most interesting questions about Gullivers Travels is whether the Houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of Swifts satire. In other words, in Book IV, is Swift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? If we look closely at the way that the Houyhnhnms act, we can see that in fact Swift does not take them seriously: he uses them to show the dangers of pride.First we have to see that Swift does not even take Gullver seriously. For instance, his name sounds much like gullible, which suggests that he will believe anything. Also, when he first sees the Yahoos and they throw excrement on him, he responds by doing the same in return until they run away. He says, I must needs discover some more rational being, even though as a human he is already the most rational being there is. This is why Swift refers to Erasmus Darwins discovery of the origin of the species and the voyage of the Beagle-to show how Gulliver knows that people are at the top of the food chain. But if Lemule Gulliver is satirized, so are the Houyhnhnms, whose voices sound like the call of castrati. They walk on two legs instead of four, and seem to be much like people. As Gulliver says, It was with the utmost astonishment that I witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a Vienese waltz. To my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the Lord Edmund Burke . As this quote demonstrates, Gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the Houyhnhnms isshort-lived because they are so prideful. For instance, the leader of the Houyhnhnms claims that he has read all the works of Charles Dickens, and that he can singlehandedly recite the names of all the Kings and Queens of England up to George II. Swift subtly shows that this Houyhnhnms pride is misplaced when, in the middle of the intellectual competition, he forgets the name of Queen Elizabeths husband.Swifts satire of the Houyhnhnms comes out in other ways as well. One of the most memorable scenes is when the dapple grey mare attempts to woo the horse that Guenivre has brought with him to the island. First she acts flirtatiously, parading around the bewildered horse. But when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: As I watched in amazement from my perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashed off and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yet more monstrous than Mr. Pope being fitted by a clothier. She dropped this creature before my nag as if offering up a sacrifice. My horse sniffed the creature and turned away. It might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and that consequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. But it makes more sense if we see that Swift is being satiric here: it is the female Houyhnhnm who makes the move, which would not have happened in eighteenth-century England. The Houyhnhm is being prideful, and it is that pride that makes him unable to impress Gullivers horse. Gulliver imagines the horse saying, Sblood, the notion of creating the bare backed beast with an animal who had held Mr. Pope on her back makes me queezy .A final indication that the Houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs when the leader of the Houynhms visits Lilliput, where he visits the French Royal Society. He goes into aroom in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at Gallilee). The scientist has been working hard at the experiment for many years without success, when the Houyhnmn arrives and immediately knows that to do: The creature no sooner stepped through the doorway than he struck upon a plan. Slurping up all the wine in sight, he quickly made water in a bucket that sat near the door .He has accomplished the scientists goal, but the scientist is not happy, for his livelihood has now been destroyed. Swifts clear implication is that even though the Houyhnhmns are smart, they do not know how to use that knowledge for the benefit of society, only for their own prideful agrandizement.Throughout Gullivers Travels, the Houyhnhms are shown to be an ideal gone wrong. Though their intent might have been good, they dont know how to do what they want to do because they are filled with pride. They mislead Gulliver and they even mislead themselves. The satire on them is particularly well explained by the new born Houyhnhm who, having just been born, exclaims, With this sort of entrance, what must I expect from the rest of my life!《格列佛游记》英文读后感 2Dasey was more rose to return to his hometown -- Kansas. She found no brains scarecrow, embroider of iron and cowardly lion. They experienced hardship, came to the city,to see a great jade of otzi.Otzi promised them only kill western witch, achieve their wishes. The more intelligent and brave dasey rose killed evil witch rescued the lion, west, repaired her friend scarecrow and tin man.The great otzi realized they desire,a clever mind scarecrow, who had a kind heart, cowardly lion has thecourage, these are great otzi help them realize. While many Laura dasey and dog toto in southern witches and witch of the north, and finally help returned to her hometown -- Kansas, see a dear aunt and uncle Henrys love.《格列佛游记》英文读后感 3Today, I finished reading the book "the old man and the sea". The father in the article has no handsome appearance, no strong body, no stable work. But he has a kind and humorous heart, which makes people like him at a glance. From each of his actions, we can feel that he loves his son very much. The son in the article has no intelligent mind, no clever character, no profound knowledge. But he has a mischievous and naughty character. Hes a little bit clever, but hes always bad. Like us, he has a pure childhood and no time forfantasy. The only difference is that he has a huge area for him to play, while we only have a small area to play.《格列佛游记》英文读后感 5During the summer holiday, I spent much time in reading. 格列佛游记读后感英文
格列佛游记读后感英文第2篇:《格列佛游记》英文读后感第3篇:格列佛游记英文读后感Don’t be a Yahoo Originally accomplished by an English writer Jonathan Swift in 1726, and later on adapted for a film by Charles Sturridge and a cartoon by Peter R.Hunt, Gulliver’s Travels is such a famous satirical novel that influences both adults and children. The editionI read is one of the adaptations, published by Oxford University.I was completely absorbed in its fantastically designed plot and the deep meaning it conveys to my mind. The author, Jonathan Swift, is an English satirist, statesman and poet.He was born in a poor family in Ireland and was brought up by his uncle. When he grew up, he became a private secretary in Moore Park with other’s help. The master of the park was an experienced politician and philosopher. There’s no doubt that he gave a huge impact on Swift.During those years, Swift went through so much that after he left the park, he spared no effort to fight for freedom and independence for Irish people. The Gulliver’s Travels, wrote by the year 1726, exposing the darkne of the society at that time. The leading character—Gulliver, who travels to the imaginary lands of Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa and the country of the Houyhnhnms, hadexperienced much during the expedition. All of these four voyages brought new opportunities and future to Gulliver’s life, and these are also for satirizing the way of the English. The first voyage is to Lilliput where people are extremely small, so Gulliver is a giant to Lilliputians.Lilliputians seem friendly but actually they are very ridiculous and stupid, the king even wanted to kill Gulliver because he made water to put out a fire to save the queen’s life. The second voyage is to Brobdingnag which is absolutely different from Lilliput.Gulliver is like a Lilliputian in Europe and he began to understand how a very small creature feels before a giant.Luckily, his master is very kind to him.But the king laughed at his country, which is famous for its beautiful places, its brave and honest people and criticized its inhuman, cruel ideas about murdering people. The third voyage is to putans are strange-looking and their main interests are music and mathematics. They pay little attention to others, so it’s very difficult to talk with them.Gulliver also went to the Glubdugdribb and Luggnagg nearby. In a visit to Glubdugdribb, Gulliver was able to call ghosts to answer his questions. In Luggnagg, he learnt something about Stuldbrugs, who are miserable for their long lives with poor heath. The last voyage is to the country of Houyhnhnms, which is controlled by horses.Gulliver felt happy with these sensible, gentle creatures, which never lied or stole, ina country which had no disease, no crime, and no wars. But at last, he had to leave. On returning to England, Gulliver felt disappointed with other humans, including his children and wife.He found himself is so stupid to think that he could bring reason and truth into their lives and thoughts. So he told others to keep away from him.As the narrator said “human are all Yahoos and Yahoos they will remain”.Yahoo, described as an ugly animal, is a reflection of human beings.Yahoos had human faces and they also so violently fond of the pieces of gold or silver that they dig for days to get them out of the ground, and hide them jealously from other yahoos. This is really an action of human.I don’t like people who are always thinking about how to attack other countries and kill tens of thousands of people who have never hurt them. They do these only with the purpose of conquering more lands. As far as I’m concerned, if we think like the horses in Houyhnhnms, don’t let lies, crimes and wars exist, our world would be more beautiful and peaceful. In a word, don’t be a Yahoo!第4篇:格列佛游记英文读后感Gulliver's Travel格列佛游记英文读后感(原创,人格保证)"When bending my eyes downward as much as I could, I perceiveda human not six inches high!" 格列佛游记英文读后感 1 Gulliver’s Travel is a fairy tale written by Jonathan Swift. It’s a very interesting story full of imagination. Besides, the description is vivid and appealing, when I read it I feel like I’m traveling with the hero in the story.Jonathan Swift was born in Ireland, but his parents are English. He has written many books such as A Tale of A Tub and The Battle of Books, respectively criticizes and attacks the corruption of religion and prejudice of scholar authority. His Drapier’s letters reveals the attempt of England to destroy the economy of Ireland. For this reason, English government awarded 300pounds for catching Swift. However, nobody in Ireland betrayed him. Swift died in 1745, and he said in his testament that he would give all his property to the charity.Gulliver’s Travels tells a story of Captain Gulliver’s unique experience. Gulliver has a strong desire of traveling around the world since he grew up. However, when he became a captain, he travels not between different countries but between strange places we never imagine. The first time, his boat encountered a storm and he swan to the shore. When he woke up he found himself surrounded by small men later he realized he had come to the country “Liliput”,which was a country of small men. In the country, the people treated him very friendly, they gave him food and drink and wine. He? lived happily and he was nice to them as well. Later, the king asked him to help fight the other country Blefuscu for a very amusing reason: people there break their eggs at the big end while people in Liliput break eggs on the small end. Gulliver helped the king win the battle and soon after that he went home. The second time, he set sail and met a fierce storm again. This time he found a land which was a country named Broadingnag. It was a country of giants. You can guess his whereabouts. The huge people treated him as a pet. They put him on show, give speech and do sword drill, till he was tired out. Later he was sent to the Queen, the Queen liked him very much and had him dine with her everyday. But life was not easy for him. Nevertheless, something interesting happened. When he wanted to read, he had to climb up on the book and walk from left to right to read a line. Imagine that scene I couldn’t help laughing. Another story is playing the piano. He had to strike the keys hard with his first.People comment the book as a satire to England even to the whole Europe. In detail, that is, the first experience use the amusing reason of war to criticize the parties and religion of England, the second experience satirizes the boast and conceit of the whole Europeans. Nevertheless, in my opinion, I only see the vivid portrayal and the interesting imagination. Maybe it’s because it’s the first time I read the story and know not so much about the background and situation of the author and his society, but the story really impresses me. I like the exotic experience of Gulliver, and I like Swifer’s imagination. A masterpiece which can influence generation after generation surely has its reason, maybe for the profound understanding of history, maybe for the description of people’s life. This novel may have something to do with sarcasm, but to me, at least by now, is a pure fantasy and a wonderful fairy tale.格列佛游记英文读后感 2 On this holiday, I read a book called Gullivers travels. He says, "I must needs discover some more rational being," even though as a human he is already the most rational being there is. As Gulliver says, "It was with the utmost astonishment that I witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a Vienese waltz. To my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the Lord Edmund Burke" . As this quote demonstrates, Gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the Houyhnhnms is short-lived because they are so prideful. But when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: "As I watched in amazement from my perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashed off and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yet more monstrous than Mr. Pope being fitted by a clothier. She dropped this creature before my nag as if offering up a sacrifice. My horse sniffed the creature and turned away."It might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and that consequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. He goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at Gallilee). The scientist has been working hard at the experiment for many years without success, when the Houyhnmn arrives and immediately knows that to do: "The creature no sooner stepped through the doorway than he struck upon a plan. Slurping up all the wine in sight, he quickly made water in a bucket that sat near the door" .He has accomplished the scientists goal, but the scientist is not happy, for his livelihood has now been destroyed. The satire on them is particularly well explained by the new born Houyhnhm who, having just been born, exclaims, "With this sort of entrance, what must I expect from the rest of my life!"格列佛游记英文读后感 5 In this winter vacation, I read a book called Gullivers travels. This book is a famous satirical novel written by swift, a famous British satirist (I only know this later). When I bought the book, I knew the general contents of the book, because I had read the essence of the book before. There are many fantastic contents in this book. Its clearly a fantasy, but its portrayed so truthfully by the author. It seems that the author has made great efforts in creating this book. This book, written in the first person, describes the fantastic experience of a doctor named Gulliver. The doctor liked to explore the sea, but the bad luck seemed to follow him all the way -the ship capsized, the pirates met, or the crew mutinied. However, due to these misfortunes, he came to four magical islands. On the four islands he came to, either the people on the island were very small, or the people on the island were very big, and there was also an island where there were no people but horses. All in all, these islands are unimaginable. What left me the most profound influence is "Lilliputian country". The people on this island are surprisingly small. High is only as high as one finger. On this island, Gulliver is regarded as a giant. Lilliputian is not a whole, it is divided into many pieces. Like our world, people are divided. As a result, wars are often waged there. Gulliver helped his "King" to defeat the enemy many times and was greatly praised by the king. However, one day, the princesss bedroom caught fire. The fire was very fierce. Gulliver was in a hurry and doused the fire with a bubble of urine. This made the princess very angry. The king read that he was a "meritorious minister" in Gulliver and pardoned his "crime". But the princess kept pestering him and had to put him to death. So, she came up with a vicious idea - now prick Gullivers eyes, and gradually reduce his food until he finally starved to death. Gulliver knew the news. So he took a boat all night and ran away. If Gulliver were me, I would not run away! I would punch the damnedPrincess hundreds of meters, and then throw her into the sea! Kill all those ungrateful people! Even if their "firepower" was no stronger, I would not be subdued. After letting them all pay the price, just leave! In fact, this kind of jealousy also exists in our class - Zhang Tianyis gang beating is a good example - which should be the first in the class, so we were beaten violently. This kind of jealousy should not exist. If I were, I wouldnt plead for the dead midget! Gulliver has also been to the "flying island country", which floats in the air by a large magnet. People on the island are always afraid. What are you afraid of?The earth should be destroyed for various reasons. They are afraid of collision with the earth, rupture of the ozone layer, depletion of the suns energy, expansion of the sun, and swallowing up the earth I think that even if its the end of the world, theres no way for you to avoid it. Since theres no way to avoid it, its better to live happily. Dont think about those things. Thinking about them is consuming your brain cells! And the last island he came to was only horse. The horse here was more spiritual, had its own language, and lived in peace without war. Its very different from the villain in front. This makes the author envious. Its just as good to pretend to be in our world. Unfortunately, it is impossible Gulliver, the doctor, impressed me deeply. His fantastic experience has inspired us a lot and made us understand many things we didnt understand. This book is of great value to watch.格列佛游记英文读后感 6 “Gullivers Travels,” the author of Swift was born in Dublin, Ireland, his father was a British settlement in Ireland. He is a posthumous child, accomplished by an Englishwriter Jonathan Swift in 1726, and later on adapted for a film by Charles Sturridge and a cartoon by Peter R.Hunt, Gulliver’s Travels is such a famous satirical novel that influences both adults and children. The Gulliver’s Travels, wrote by the year 1726, exposing the darkness of the society at that time. The leading character—Gulliver, who travels to the imaginary lands of Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa and the country of the Houyhnhnms, had experienced much during the expedition. The last voyage is to the country of Houyhnhnms, which is controlled by horses.Gulliver felt happy with these sensible, gentle creatures, which never lied or stole, in a country which had no disease, no crime, and no wars. In a word, don’t be a Yahoo!格列佛游记英文读后感8 My Opinions on Gulliver’s Travels Jonathan Swift Recently I read a novel called “Gulliver’s Travels’.As far as I am concerned, it is a very fantastic book and it gives people an adventurous feeling to read the novel. Before I read the novel, I reallydidn’t know anything about the author of this novel. But after I have read the novel, I learned that the author of this novel is Jonathan Swift, who was born in 1667.According to what I learned from the book,I know the novel through spicy Satires and Humors, quirky imagination and exaggeration, describes the passion for Gulliver’s sailing adventure. In my opinion, there is a certain connection between the background of the novel and the social conditions.Take this novel ,for example, the background of the novel is based on the social reality in England of that time.If I have the chance, I would like to be a man like Gulliver, because I am greatly inspired by his courage.Gulliver is the person, who travels several lands.Today I will share one of his voyages with you.The voyage is to Lilliput.People of the lands of Lilliput are very small, it seems like the ant to us, and so Gulliver in the place is very big.The local people regard him as a monster. From the chapter of the novel, we can learn that people of Lilliput are of great kindness in giving Gulliver food and drink. While he was eating, they had prepared a platform to carry him to the capital city.Five hundred men built a special wooden platform with twenty-two wheels.Nine hundred of the strongest men worked for about three hours to lift him on to the platform. But he has experienced much, not only happy things but also unhappy things. As a reader of this novel, I can imagine how exciting the voyage was through the words written by the author. At last ,I hope I could have the chance to travel the world like Gulliver.I eagerly want to live in a magic land ,I think it must be exciting. In fact ,I more hope our classmates can help and understand each other like characters of the novel. And make our class more harmony ,make us more happy.Thank you!。
Gulliver's travels 格列佛游记读书笔记
Book Report on Gulliver's Travels Gulliver's Travels is the most famous novel of Jonathan Swift (W. W. Norton & Company, 2001). It was first published in 1726. This novel is consist of 4 parts, and every part has its own deep thought. Swift wrote a story which reflects the real society of England. At the same time, the novel also be read as an interesting and playful children’s story.Part 1 is about a voyage to Lilliput. Lemuel Gulliver who is a doctor enjoys travelling. He is rescued by the tiny people after a shipwreck, and he is send to Lilliput. Lilliput is a country whose inhabitants are no more than six inches tall, so Gulliver is a giant for the people in Lilliput. With a good behavior, Gulliver is given a residence in Lilliput. Then, he successfully fights with Lilliput’s neighbor Blefuscudians by himself. King is glad about this, but Gulliver refuses to destroy Blefuscudians which makes king upset. And Gulliver also makes queen very angry because Gulliver puts out a fire in queen’s palace with his urine. Gulliver escapes to England after he knows that the king decides to kill him. Part 2 is about a voyage to Brobdingnag. This time Gulliver is rescued by a farmer after another shipwreck. The framer comes from Brobdingnag which is a land to giants. The farmer treats Gulliver as a curiosity and exhibits him for money. After a while the constant shows make Gulliver sick, and the farmer sells him to the queen. In palace, he tells the king the history of England, but the king never believes him. One day, when he has a rest near seaside, he is drop in the sea by a giant eagle. Gulliver returns to English after he is rescue. Part 3 is about a voyage to several magic places. He begins his voyage again. This time the ship is attracted by pirates. He escapes and rescued by the flying island of Laputa. He also visited Balnibarbi, Luggnagg, Glubbdubdrib, and Japan. All those places all different from the England world, and the rules are so strange even some of it are wrong. Finally, he returns to England. Part 4 is about a voyage to the Country of the Houyhnhnms. In Houyhnhnms, he meets a race of horses who are the rulers. Gulliver becomes a member of a horse's household, and comes to both admire and emulate their lifestyle. However, the country makes a new rule that kill all people.Gulliver has to escape, and he returns to his home in England, but he is unable to reconcile himself to living among real people. He remains in his house, and spending his rest life with a horse. The first part in Lilliput, the writer describes the world from a giant’s eye. The king is greed and wars happen all around the world. The second part in Brobdingnag, the writer creates a tiny person. As a tiny person, Gulliver is oppressed and the people are cold-blooded. The third part in some magic places, people call white black. The last part in Houyhnhnms, horse is the ruler. Compared with human being, horse is more rational and just. The whole book shows a fantastic story just like a children’s tale. In fact, the novel shows the ugly society, and the writer reflects the human’s ugly from different aspects. It is worthy to reading again and again, then, you need to think.。
《格列佛游记》英文读后感
《格列佛游记》英文读后感Gulliver's Travels, written by Jonathan Swift, is a socio-political satire that explores the flaws of human nature and the societal structures it breeds. The novel is composed of four voyages, each building on top of the last, revealing Swift's commentary on the nature of politics, religion, science, and humanity as a whole. As I progressed through the novel, I found myself simultaneously enamored and horrified by the imaginative creatures and societies that Swift brings to life. While the lands of Lilliput and Brobdingnag appear to be fantastical, they contain many of the same issues that plague our world today. The court politics of Lilliputian society are fraught with greed and corruption, leading to violence and conspiracy. Meanwhile, the scientifically advanced Brobdingnagians embody the suffocating nature of their own society by being brutally honest with every individual, seeming almost incapable of empathy. As Gulliver travels further, he encounters even more bizarre and extreme societies. Laputa is a civilization entirely dependent upon mathematics and science, where individuals are so consumed with their own pursuits that they forget about the needs of others. The people of Lagado devote their lives to nonsensical research and development, resulting in ridiculous, impractical inventions. And finally, the Yahoos, in their savage and grotesque state, serve as a disturbing reflection of humanity's most primal instincts. Throughout the novel, Swift employs various literary devices to comment on the flaws of human nature and criticize the societal structures that promote them. For example, the use of satirehighlights absurdities in society and individuals, inviting readers to reflect on their own behaviors and values. Swift also employs irony and hyperbole, exaggerating or stating the opposite of what is meant to highlight the absurdity of a situation.Overall, Gulliver's Travels is an engaging and thought-provoking novel that invites readers to analyze their own societies and the structures within them. Swift's imaginative creations, paired with his sharp insight and critique of humanity's flaws, make this novel a literary masterpiece that is just as relevant today as it was when it was first written.。

My Opinions on Gulliver’s TravelsJonathan SwiftRecently I read a novel called “Gulliver’s Travels’. As far as I am concerned, it is a very fantastic book and it gives people an adventurous feeling to read the novel. Before I read the novel, I really didn’t know anything about the author of this novel. But after I have read the novel, I learned that the author of this novel is Jonathan Swift, who was born in 1667. According to what I learned from the book,I know the novel through spicy Satires and Humors, quirky imagination and exaggeration, describes the passion for Gulliver’s sailing adventure. In my opinion, there is a certain connection between the background of the novel and the social conditions. Take this novel ,for example, the background of the novel is based on the social reality in England of that time.If I have the chance, I would like to be a man like Gulliver, because I am greatly inspired by his courage .Gulliver is the person, who travels several lands .Today I will share one of his voyages with you.The voyage is to Lilliput. People of the lands of Lilliputare very small, it seems like the ant to us, and so Gulliver in the place is very big. The local people regard him as a monster. From the chapter of the novel, we can learn that people of Lilliput are of great kindness in giving Gulliver food and drink. While he was eating, t hey had prepared a platform to carry him to the capital city. Five hundred men built a special wooden platform with twenty-two wheels.Nine hundred of the strongest men worked for about three hours to lift him on to the platform. But he has experienced much, not only happy things but also unhappy things. 格列佛游记英文版读后感
格列佛游记英文版读后感1Oh my goodness! I have just finished reading Gulliver's Travels in English and I am simply over the moon! This book has taken me on the most amazing adventures. The story of Gulliver in Lilliput had me laughing out loud. Can you imagine a grown man like Gulliver being treated as a giant among those tiny people? The way they climbed all over him and the funny tricks they played were just hilarious! And then there was the description of the Brobdingnagians in the land of the giants. How astonishing it was to think of Gulliver as a tiny speck among those huge beings! I kept asking myself, "How could such a wild imagination exist?"This book is not just a bunch of stories. It makes me think about the world and how different we all are. It shows that no matter how big or small we are, we all have our own problems and joys.In a nutshell, Gulliver's Travels has been an unforgettable journey for me. It has filled my heart with joy, wonder, and a whole lot of questions. I highly recommend it to everyone who loves a good adventure and a great story!2After reading Gulliver's Travels in English, I am deeply moved andfilled with countless thoughts and emotions! The adventures of Gulliver have truly opened my eyes to a world full of wonders and mysteries. How could I not be amazed by Gulliver's brave exploration in those strange lands? His courage to face unknown challenges and his determination to discover new things have inspired me greatly. It makes me question whether I have the same bravery in my life to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the unknown. The vivid descriptions of different countries in the book have also made me think deeply about the diversity of human society. Why are there such vast differences among people in different places? How should we view and respect these differences? This has led me to reflect on our own society and the importance of tolerance and understanding. In conclusion, Gulliver's Travels is not just a simple adventure story. It is a book that provokes thoughts, stirs emotions, and urges us to look at the world and ourselves from different perspectives. What a wonderful and thought-provoking book it is!3I have just finished reading the English version of Gulliver's Travels, and my mind is still swirling with the astonishing imagination it holds! The book is truly a masterpiece that takes the reader on an extraordinary adventure. The Flying Island described in the story is an incredibly imaginativecreation. The strange technology there, such as the ability to manipulate the island's movement and position, is beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of! How wonderful it would be if such technology could exist in our real world? And then there's the highly civilized country of Houyhnhnms. The way they live, their values and social structure, makes one wonder why our own society can't be more like that? Isn't it a question worth pondering? This book is not just a story; it's a mirror that reflects on our reality and makes us question and dream. It makes me believe that imagination has no boundaries and that it has the power to inspire us to create a better world. Oh, what a remarkable read!4The Gulliver's Travels is an extraordinary work that has left an indelible mark on my literary journey. The book is not just a simple adventure story but a profound exploration of human nature and society. The language used in the English version is simply exquisite! Swift's words have the power to transport the reader to the fantastical worlds Gulliver encounters. The vivid descriptions and the meticulous choice of words make every scene come alive in the mind's eye. How could one not be amazed by such linguistic mastery? The narrative structure of this work is also highly unique. Swift ingeniously weaves together different adventures, each offering a distinctperspective on the human condition. It makes one question the very essence of society and the way we live. This book is not merely a source of entertainment; it is a thought-provoking masterpiece that compels us to reflect on our own lives and the world around us. It is a reminder of the power of literature to illuminate the truth and inspire change. Oh, what a remarkable piece of literature Gulliver's Travels is!5After reading Gulliver's Travels in English, I was deeply moved and enlightened. This remarkable book offers profound insights into human nature that have left an indelible mark on my mind. The various experiences of the protagonist, Gulliver, provide a vivid mirror reflecting the complexity of human nature. In the land of Lilliput, where people are tiny in size but not in their ambitions and intrigues, we witness both the kindness and the pettiness of human behavior. How ironic it is that those small figures can display such a wide range of emotions and motives! When Gulliver finds himself in the land of Brobdingnag, the contrast couldn't be more striking. The giants' simplicity and honesty stand in sharp contrast to the sophistication and duplicity often found in our own world. Isn't it thought-provoking to consider how our perspectives on human nature change depending on the circumstances? This book also makes us question our own weaknesses and strengths. Do we have the courage and wisdom like Gulliver to face the unknown and overcome difficulties? Or do we often give in to our fears and weaknesses? In conclusion, Gulliver's Travels is not just an adventure story but a profound exploration of human nature. It urges us to look within ourselves and strive to be better individuals. What a wonderful and inspiring book it is!。

Sturridge and a cartoon by Peter R.Hunt, Gulliver’s Travels is such a famous satirical novel that influences both adults and children. When he grew up, he became a priva te secretary in Moore Park with other’s help. The master of the park was an experienced politician and philosopher. There’s no doubt that he gave a huge impact on Swift.During those years,Swift went through so much that after he left the park, he spared no effort to fight for freedom and independence for Irish people. The s econd voyage is to Brobdingnag which is absolutely different from Lilliput.Gulliver is like a Lilliputian in Europe and he began to understand how a very small creature feels before a giant.Luckily, his master is very kind to him.But the king laughed at his country, which is famous for its beautiful places, its brave and honest people and criticized its inhuman, cruel ideas about murdering people. The last voyage is to the country of Houyhnhnms, which is controlled by horses.Gulliver felt happy with these sensible, gentle creatures, which never lied or stole, in a country which had no disease, nocrime, and no wars. As far as I’m concerned, if we think like the horses in Houyhnhnms, don’t let lies, crimes and wars exist, our world would be more beautiful and peace ful.In a word, don’t be a Yahoo!第四篇:《格列佛游记》英文读后感One of the most interesting questions about Gullivers Travels is whether the Houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of Swift's satire. Also, when he first sees the Yahoos and they throw excrement on him, he responds by doing the same in return untilthey run away.He says, “I must needs discover some more rational being,” even though as a human he is already the most rational being there is.This is why Swift refers to Erasmus Darwins discovery of the origin of the species and the voyage of the Beagle-to show how Gulliver knows that people are at the top of the food chain. But if Lemule Gulliver is satirized, so are the Houyhnhnms, whose voices sound like the call of castrati. They walk on two legs instead of four, and seem to be much like people. As Gulliver says, “It was with the utmost astonishment that I witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a Vienese waltz.T o my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the Lord Edmund Burke”.As this quote demonstrates, Gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the Houyhnhnms is short-lived because they are so prideful. For instance, the leader of the Houyhnhnms claims that he has read all the works of Charles Dickens, and that he can singlehandedly recite the names of all the Kings and Queens of England up to George II.Swift subtly shows that this Houyhnhnms pride is misplaced when, in the middle of the intellectual competition, he forgets the name of Queen Elizabeths husband.Swifts satire of the Houyhnhnms comes out in other ways as well. One of the most memorable scenes is when the dapple grey mare attempts to woo the horse that Guenivre has brought with him to the island.First she acts flirtatiously, parading around the bewildered horse. But when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: “As I watched in amazement from my perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashed off and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yet more monstrous than Mr.pope being fitted by a clothier. She dropped this creature before my nag as if offering up asacrifice. My horse sniffed the creature and turned away.” It might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and that consequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. But it makes more sense if we see that Swift is being satiric here: it is the female Houyhnhnm who makes the move, which would not have happened in eighteenth-century England. The Houyhnhm is being prideful, and it is that pride that makes him unable to impress Gullivers horse.Gulliver imagines the horse saying, Sblood, the notion of creating the bare backed beast with an animal who had held Mr.pope on her back makes me queezy.A final indication that the Houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs when the leader of the Houynhms visits Lilliput, where he visits the French Royal Society. He goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water(itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at Gallilee). The scientist has been working hard at the experiment for many years without success, when the Houyhnmn arrives and immediately knows that to do: “The creature no sooner stepped through the doorway than he struck upon a plan.Slurping up all the wine in sight, he quickly made water in a bucket that sat near the door”.He has accomplished the scientists goal, but the scientist is not happy, for his livelihood has now been destroyed.Swifts clear implication is that even though the Houyhnhmns are smart, they do not know how to use that knowledge for the benefit of society, only for their own prideful agrandizement.Throughout Gullivers Travels, the Houyhnhms are shown to be an ideal gone wrong.Though their intent might have been good, they don't know how to do what they want to do because they are filled with pride. They mislead Gulliver and they even mislead themselves. The satire on them isparticularly well explained by the new born Houyhnhm who, having just been born, e xclaims, “With this sort of entrance, what must I expect from the rest of my life!”.第五篇:格列佛游记英文读后感Gulliver’s TravelsWhen writing the experience in the country of Houyhnhnms, Jonathan Swift satirizes a lot of hideous phenomena and social figures—lawyers, doctors, chief ministers and noble persons in chapter wyersAt the beginning of this chapter, the author mentions lawyers by using such words--perplex, disquiet, weary and injustice, totally the opposite what a lawyer should be like. When Gulliver tries to describe the reason why they do so many evil things, the horses just can’t understand.Of course, for those civil horses who do things in a manner of justice and law, how can they understand these indecent deeds. The sharp contrast between horses and yahoos strongly satirizes the degenerate society in England at that time, where there was no justice and equality at all.Money was the only thing those people chased throughout their life. Then the author talks about the money, the lust and the exploitati on.By using hyperbole that “This whole globe of earth must be at least three times gone around, before one of our better female Yahoos could get her breakfast, or a cup to put it in” to satire the luxurious rich people’s ruthless persecution on the poor. Here Swift makes a long list of crimes—such as begging, robbing, stealing, by doing which poor people can seek their livelihood, making the life of lower class much more miserable.II.DoctorsIn the following paragraphs, Swift talks about diseases which have killed a large number of people, some even propagating tolater generations. To cure these diseases, a magic tribe emerged.Just as the so-called lawyers Swift mentions at the very beginning, the doctors and their “miraculous” diagnostics follows to be satir ized.In the author’s description, doctors here never fail to predict their patients’ diseases, or they would make their predictions seemingly accurate by all means—deadly poison or something like that. All in all, anyone who has been unluckily sentenced dea th by those doctors will soon die.“They are likewise of special use to husbands and wives who are grown weary of their mates, to eldest sons, to great ministers of state, and often to princes.” In this sentence, here “they” refer to those death-like doctors. With the special help of them, people with some evil thoughts can achieve what they desperately expect.Very cleverly, by criticizing the doctors’ immorality, Swift also satirizes the social ills like disloyalty between couples, betrayals among brothers and offices.III.Chief Ministers In the next paragraph, Swift turns his sharp nib to the chief ministers. Those people are so hypocritical and deceptive that they discard all their human feelings, but to chase power, wealth and titles—as Swift directly points out.No one can guess their true feelings. Here Swift uses several antitheses to show their hypocrisy.Truth for lie;lie as truth. Both praise and deformation are bad omens. What’s more, their promise resembles the curse. Then the author jokingly offers three methods about how to become a chief minister. That’s where the highlight is.“First, by knowing how with prudence todispose of a wife, a daughter, or a sister;the second, by betraying or undermining his predecessor;and the third is, by a furious zeal in public assemblies against the corruptions of the court.” shows that only by betrayal, conspiracy and somethingimmoral can one become a chief minister.“The palace of a ’chief minister’ is a seminary to breed up others in his own trade.” By using metaphor, the author ironically criticizes the English chief ministers, who are dirty and corrupted.IV.Noble PersonsLast but not least, Jonathan Swift reveals the true figures of the nobility. The author takes Gulliver himself—who is much healthier and cleaner than those Yahoos but born the lower class as an example to satire the noble persons. With odious diseases derived from lewd females and terrible personality caused by being spoiled, they regard their unhealthy complexion as grace, and mock those robust persons instead.Their twist and reverse values actually reflect the deformed social value system at that time.Money worship leads them to marry those they don’t love, even to give birth to malformed children. How ridiculous!“Without the consent of this illustrious bod y no law can be made, repealed, or altered, and these have the decision of our possessions without appeal.” At the end of the this part, the author again uses irony to mention that all the society is under the control of those both physically and psychologically ill persons, as implicates that the whole society is in the darkness of sickness.V.ConclusionJonathan Swift is a genius in sarcasm.Reading his novel—Gulliver’s Travels, one can find that every page is filled with his sharp sarcasm and irony.。

Wisdom in the language of the kingdom for no "lying" and "deceit" this word, people don't understand the meaning of it more. 格列佛游记英语读后感100字左右
格列佛游记英语读后感100字左右Reflections on Gulliver's TravelsDuring winter vacation, I read Gulliver's Travels. The novel uses sharp satire and humour, as well as bizarre imagination and exaggeration, to describe Gulliver, who loves sailing adventures and travels around the world, experiencing thrilling and interesting adventures of all sizes. The bizarre stories of the Land of Adults and the Land of Lilliputians in travelogues deeply attracted me, but the one that left the deepest impression on me was the story of Gulliver sailing in North America in 1710, encountering the land of Huiyin on a deserted island, and meeting the benevolent and honest king of Huiyin. In the language of Huiyin country, there are no words such as "lying" and "deceiving", and people do not understand their meanings. They don't understand what "doubt" is and what "distrust" is. In their country, everything is real and transparent.I envy Gulliver for having the opportunity to visit Huiyin Country, which is the ideal situation we pursue and aspire to. Here, you don't need to worry about the truth of what others say. In reality, some people use sweet words to fraudulent others of their hard-earned money; Some people use substandard products to seek huge profits; Some people abandon family and friendship for money…I also hope that one day our society can be like Huiyinguo, where children no longer have doubts in their eyes, and education and reality are unified. I am willing to work hard for this, and I also hope that everyone can start from me, from around me, to make this society more sincere and less hypocritical.。

As far as I am concerned, it is a very fantastic book and it gives people an adventurous feeling to read the novel. Before I read the novel, Ireally didn’t know anything about the author of thisnovel. But after I have read the novel, I learned thatthe author of this novel is Jonathan Swift, who was born in 1667. According to what I learned from the book,Jonathan Swift was brought up by his uncle. One of themost interesting questions about Gullivers Travels iswhether the Houyhnhnms represent an ideal ofrationality or whether on the other hand they are thebutt of Swift's satire. In other words, in Book IV, isSwift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? If we look closely at the way that the Houyhnhnms act,we can see that in fact Swift does not take them seriously: he uses them to show the dangers of pride.First we have to see that Swift does not even takeGulliver seriously. For instance, his name sounds much like gullible, which suggests that he will believe anything. Also, when he first sees the Yahoos and theythrow excrement on him, he responds by doing the samein return until they run away. He says, "I must needsdiscover some more rational being," even though as ahuman he is already the most rational being there is.This is why Swift refers to Erasmus Darwins discoveryof the origin of the species and the voyage of theBeagle-to show how Gulliver knows that people are atthe top of the food chain. But if Lemule Gulliver issatirized, so are the Houyhnhnms, whose voices soundlike the call of castrati. They walk on two legs instead of four, and seem to be much like people. As Gulliversays, "It was with the utmost astonishment that I witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a Vienese waltz. To my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the Lord Edmund B urke" . As this quote demonstrates, Gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the Houyhnhnms is short-lived because they are so prideful. For instance, the leader of the Houyhnhnmsclaims that he has read all the works of Charles Dickens, and that he can singlehandedly recite the names of allthe Kings and Queens of England up to George II.Swift subtly shows that this Houyhnhnms pride is misplaced when, in the middle of the intellectual competition, he forgets the name of Queen Elizabeths husband. Swifts satire of the Houyhnhnms comes out inother ways as well. One of the most memorable scenesis when the dapple grey mare attempts to woo the horsethat Guenivre has brought with him to the island. First she acts flirtatiously, parading around the bewildered horse. But when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: "As I watched in amazement frommy perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashedoff and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yetmore monstrous than Mr. Pope being fitted by a clothier. She dropped this creature before my nag as if offeringup a sacrifice. My horse sniffed the creature and turned away."It might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and thatconsequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. But it makes more sense if we see that Swift is being satiric here: it is the female Houyhnhnm who makes the move, which would not have happened in eighteenth-century England. The Houyhnhm is being prideful, and it is that pride that makes him unableto impress Gullivers horse. Gulliver imagines the horse saying, Sblood, the notion of creating the bare backed beast with an animal who had held Mr. Pope on her backmakes me queezy . Throughout Gullivers Travels, the Houyhnhms are shown to be an ideal gone wrong. Thoughtheir intent might have been good, they don't know howto do what they want to do because they are filled with pride. They mislead Gulliver and they even mislead themselves. The satire on them is particularly wellexplained by the new born Houyhnhm w ho, having just been born, exclaims, "With this sort of entrance, what must I expect from the rest of my life!" .In my opinion, there is a certain connection between the background of the novel and the social conditions. Take this novel for example; the background of the novel is based on the social reality in Englandof that time. If I have the chance, I would like to bea man like Gulliver, because I am greatly inspired byhis couragement and brave. Gulliver is the person, who travels the lands of Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa and the country of the Houyhnhnms.I think he must have experienced much during the voyages. These four voyages brought new future to Gulliver’s life. The first voyage is to Lilliput.People of the lands of Lilliput are very small, it seems like the ant to us, and so Gulliver in the place is very big. The local people regard him as a monster. From the chapter of the novel, we can learn that people of Lilliput are of great kindness in giving Gulliver food and drink. While he was eating, they had prepared aplatform to carry him to the capital city. The peopleof Lilliput, known as the Lilliputians, are very intelligent and clever with their hundred men builta special wooden platform with twenty-two hundred of the strongest men worked for about three hours to lifthim on to the platform, and one thousand five hundredo f the King's largest horses(each eleven and a halfcentimeters high)pulled him to the he has experienced much, not only happy things but also unhappy things. As a reader of this novel, I can imagine how exciting how exciting the voyage was through the words written by the author. The next voyage is to Brobdingnag, which is completely different from Lilliput. Gulliveris like a small man in Lilliput, because people inBrobdingnag are very big, all of them are giants. Gulliver is clever to e please the king and the queenwith his intelligence in music. In my opinion, Gulliveris patriotic for he argued with the king, because theking laughed at his country. In Gulliver’s mind, his country is very harmonious, people are honest and brave. No one can criticize his country.I admire him for this characteristic. The thirdvoyage is to Laputa. From the chapter, I can learnLaputans are certainly strange people. Their heads always turn either to right or left:one of their eyes turns in-wards,the other upwards.。

格列佛游记英文读后感
格列佛游记英文读后感Gulliver's Travels is a classic work of English literature written by Jonathan Swift. The novel is a satirical masterpiece that takes the reader on a journey through various imaginary lands, each with its own unique society and customs. After reading Gulliver's Travels, I was left with a deep sense of awe and admiration for Swift's ability to craft such a thought-provoking and entertaining story. One of the most striking aspects of Gulliver's Travels is its exploration of human nature and society. Through the protagonist Lemuel Gulliver's encounters with the Lilliputians, the Brobdingnagians, the Laputians, and the Houyhnhnms, Swift offers a scathing critique of the political, social, and moral issues of his time. The novel's portrayal of the absurdity and folly of human behavior serves as a powerful commentary on the flaws and contradictions of society.Furthermore, Gulliver's Travels is a work that challenges the reader to reflect on their own beliefs and values. The novel's vivid descriptions of the bizarre customs and practices of the various lands Gulliver visits force the reader to confront the limitations of their own perspective and to consider the relativity of cultural norms. Swift's use of satire and irony encourages the reader to question the assumptions and prejudices that shape their understanding of the world. In addition, Gulliver's Travels is a testament to the power of imagination and storytelling. Swift's creation of the fantastical lands of Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa, and Houyhnhnmland showcases his remarkable ability to weave together elements of fantasy and reality. The novel's imaginative scope and inventive world-building make it a timeless work of literature that continues to captivate readers of all ages.Overall, Gulliver's Travels is a literary masterpiece that remains as relevant and thought-provoking today as it was when it was first published. Swift's incisive wit, keen observations, and profound insights into human nature and society make this novel a compelling and enduring work of fiction. After reading Gulliver's Travels, I was left witha renewed appreciation for the power of literature to challenge, inspire, and entertain. I highly recommend this novel to anyone seeking a thought-provoking and engaging read.。

12 months, I read the British writer Jonathan; Swift's gulliver's travels, novel by bitter ironies and humor, extraordinary imagination and exaggeration, describe the love sailing adventure, four degrees gulliver travel around the world, experienced greatly small breathtaking and interesting adventures.
Small and medium-sized people's kingdom, adult kingdom light blame extraordinary story deeply attracted me, however, give me the deepest impression is, 1710 in North America, rafting gulliver skillfully visit the island for the wisdom of, met with kindness, honesty and friendship for wisdom of virtue. Wisdom in the language of the kingdom for no "lying" and "deceit" this word, people don't understand the meaning of it more. They don't know what call "suspect", what is "no confidence" in their country, everything is true, transparent.
Because of the kingdom in the hui gulliver had a good time, and he fully integrated into the society, so that the human and metaphor and hu contact the formation of strong contrast, because they always with suspicion of his honesty, made him feel lost to humans, the extreme dislike.
既妨碍了我去“爱”别人,同时也错过了别人的“爱”,在难道不是一种悲哀吗?I admire the hero could have to hui for the comet, because we are pursuing the kingdom of the ideal situation, and yearning in here you don't need to worry the true and false, and talking to people in the real world, with so much we do not like to see things are often happen: someone with other people's hard-earned money, diddle rhetoric was abducted children seek profits, some even for money leave his own parents. No wonder our teacher, elder since the childhood education we have to remain vigilant, don't be deceived. This and we advocate help others, love others is united very hard. When I met a person who has difficulty, to lend a helping hand, I hesitate to; When someone for me, I can't accept clearance. These make me feel pain, contradiction and disoriented. Both hampered I love others, also missed the others "love", in a sad isn't?
I don't know the eighteenth century America's case, the glory of the two parties exceedingly sentimental, ambiguity of relation, of course, there was no way swift's debate experience to eat eggs should be knocked the height of head, which heel "principles" problem "high follow the party" and "low with the party" beauty.我错怪斯威夫特了,我要有一颗宽容的心。
而后来的斯威夫特也渐渐变得可以理解了,给我的感觉是他很正义。
I blamed swift, I want to have a tolerance of heart. And later swift also gradually become can understand, give my feeling is that he is justice.
He was a real irony British features: "greed, the party is divided, hypocrisy, without faith, brutal, anger, crazy, resentment, jealousy, lust, sinister and ambition." He described the beast sarcastic man upside of paradox: MaCheng a rational carrier, but are into dirty rotten, excrement and urine to fly the popularity of an inferior animals and greed, hu jintao. His talk about human nature, is willing to be subjected to money, not extravagant waste is insatiable. Finish see gulliver's travels after, we have to look at themselves, we have a problem on the root shadow.有一句话,我认为评论得很经典:以夸张渲染时代的生气,藉荒唐痛斥时代的弊端;在厌恨和悲观背后,应是一种苦涩的忧世情怀。
A word, I think very classic: to review the angry, render times exaggerated by lashing out at the shortcomings of The Times; absurd In hatred andpessimistic, should be behind a bitter sorrow the feelings.没有想到在那些朴实得如同流水账的大白话游记中竟蕴含着这么深邃的内涵。
