Lesson 1 : Learning English Is A Piece of Cake 学英语只是小菜一碟

Many people are worried about learning English. They think English is difficult and it’s hard to memorize new words and grammatical rules. In fact, learning English can be a piece of cake. Don’t worry about pronunciation. Don’t worry about grammar. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Just try to speak. Speak English as much as possible. Successful people spend a lot of time practicing. Remember, practice makes perfect. Speak English every day, and you’ll improve.

很多人都为学英语而担心。他们认为英语很难学，而且很难记住新单词和语法规则。实际上，学英语只是小菜一碟。别担心发音的问题。别担心语法。别怕犯错。只管尽力去说英语。尽可能多说。成功的人会花费大量时间练习。记住，熟能生巧。只要每天说英语，你就会进步。

Lesson 2 : Modern Girls 现代女孩

Helen is like many girls her age. She lives for today, enjoys her life, and doesn’t worry about the future.

Helen has a terrible habit. She wastes money, she buys clothes that she never wears. She also enjoys eating out, and she always goes to expensive restaurants. She often eats only half the food she orders. She takes taxis everywhere, even when the bus is convenient. She never thinks about saving money, or spending it more wisely. Living a wasteful life is really a terrible habit.

海伦就像许多与她同龄的女孩们一样—活在当下，享受生活，从不考虑将来。

海伦有个非常糟糕的习惯，她花钱如流水。她买很多衣服但从来不穿。她还喜欢在外面吃饭，而且总是去高消费的餐馆。她经常点了菜却只吃一半。她去哪里都坐出租车，即使在搭乘公共汽车很方便的时候也是如此。她从不考虑省钱或更精明地花钱。

过挥霍无度的生活确实是非常糟糕的习惯。

Lesson 3 : Football 足球

Do you know there are two kinds of football games? One is American football, the other is soccer. In China many young men like playing soccer. It is very popular in China. But the Chinese don’t call it soccer. They call it football. There are eleven players on a team. They play with a round ball. Only the goalkeeper can play the ball with his hands. The other player mustn’t use their hands. For this reason I think the Chinese name “football” makes sense!
