新概念英语第二册:第84课课文详解及语法解析

新概念英语第二册:第84课课文详解及语法解析课文详注 Further notes on the text1.go on strike,罢工。

on strike表示“在罢工”:The workers are on strike.工人们在罢工。

It is not clear yet when the teachers on strike will return to theirclassrooms.当前还不清楚罢课的教师何时会回到教室去。

Must we go on strike?我们必须罢工吗?2.The strike is due to begin on Tuesday. 罢工定于星期二开始。

due表示“预定的”、“约定的”,后面能够跟带to的不定式,也能够不跟。

它后面通常有确定的时间状语:The plane is due(to arrive)in London at 9 o'clock.飞机预定9点抵达伦敦。

The performance is due to begin at 7 o'clock in the evening.演出定于晚上7点开始。

due to后面若是名词,则它表示“因为”、“因为”(通常用于系动词be之后):Our delay was due to the heavy traffic.我们被耽搁了是因为交通拥挤。

3.…the strike will continue until general agreement is reached about payand working conditions.……

Lesson 84 On strike 罢工Who will be driving the buses next week?Busmen have decided to go on strike next week. The strike is due to begin on Tuesday. No one knows how long it will last. The busmen have stated that the strike will continue until general agreement is reached about pay and working conditions. Most people believe that the strike will last for at least a week. Many owners of private cars are going to offer 'free rides' to people on their way to work. This will relieve pressure on the trains to some extent. Meanwhile, a number of university students have volunteered to drive buses while the strike lasts. All the students are expert drivers, but before they drive any of the buses, they will have to pass a special test. The students are going to take the test in two days' time. Even so, people are going to find it difficult to get to work. But so far, the public has expressed its gratitude to the students in letters to the Press. Only one or two people have objected that the students will drive too fast!参考译文公共汽车司机决定下星期罢工。

新概念英语第二册第84课作文答案

新概念英语第二册第84课作文答案全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Summer Vacation AdventureHey there! It's me again, coming at you with the wildest story from my summer vacation. You're not gonna believe all the crazy stuff that happened! Where do I even begin?I guess I'll start from the very start. On the first day of summer break, my parents woke me up bright and early. I was like "Ughh, why you gotta do this to me on my vacation?" But then they told me to pack a bag because we were going on a trip!A trip? During the summer? This was already shaping up to be the best vacation ever!We all piled into the car and hit the road. After driving for what felt like forever, we ended up at this huge forest. My dad said we were going hiking and camping for a few days. Now I was really excited! I love running around in the woods and camping is so much fun.The first night camping was awesome. We pitched our tent, got a fire going, made s'mores, and told spooky stories. I tried to act all scared during the stories, but to be honest, I wasn't really scared at all. I'm way too brave for that! The next morning, we went on a long hike to explore deeper into the forest. Everything looked so green and alive. We saw tons of cool plants, birds, and even spotted a deer! After a while, we came across this old wooden bridge over a rushing river. My dad said we could take a break there. As I was checking out the river, I noticed a hole in the ground near the bridge. Being the curious kid that I am, I obviously had to investigate. I bent down and peered inside the hole and that's when...I slipped and tumbled right in! The hole was way deeper than I thought.I landed with a thump on the ground of a cave or tunnel or something. I wasn't hurt, just a little shaken up. I yelled for help, but my voice didn't carry very far. That's when I realized I was all alone underground with no idea where I was or how to get out. Talk about terrifying!I tried not to panic too much. I'm a tough kid, after all. I figured my parents would realize I was missing and come look for me. So I just had to wait it out. I felt around the ground andluckily found a big stick I could use like a walking stick. Using it to guide me, I started making my way through the dark tunnel, hoping to find a way out. After walking and walking, the tunnel finally opened up into a huge cave. It was pretty dark in there, but some light came in through holes in the ceiling. That's when I saw something that almost made me freak out - bones scattered all over the ground! Humanoid looking bones! I tried to stay calm by telling myself it was probably just dinosaur bones or something, but I was still totally creeped out.Lost, alone, and surrounded by bones in a cave underground - this was basically a nightmare scenario. But I'm a brave kid, so I decided to push forward and keep exploring to find a way out. I made it across the cave and there was another tunnel on the other side. As I got closer, I noticed claw marks on the walls. Yeah, CLAW marks! My heart was pounding out of my chest at this point.I carefully entered the tunnel, using my stick to feel along the walls for any dangers. After a few minutes, I turned a corner and there it was - the BIGGEST BEAR I've ever seen! It roared so loud that I'm surprised the whole forest didn't hear it. I just frozein shock, terrified. But then I realized the bear couldn't move - one of its legs was stuck under a rock! Now it was the bear who seemed scared of me! We just stared at each other, both probably terrified. That's when I got an idea. Very slowly and carefully, I made my way closer to the bear with my stick. It growled at me, but didn't attack. Once I got up next to its leg, I used all my strength to try and move the rock off its leg.It took a few tries, but I finally rolled the rock away and freed the bear's leg! And you know what? Instead of attacking me, the bear just looked at me, almost like it was saying "thanks kid." It then turned around and lumbered away deeper into the tunnel.I was just standing there in disbelief at what just happened when I heard voices calling my name! It was my parents! They had found the hole I fell through and followed my footsteps all the way to this tunnel. I was saved!I ran over and hugged them so hard. They had been scared half to death looking for me, but I assured them I was fine. Just another day's adventure for a tough kid like me! As we started making our way out of the tunnel, I asked if we could come back another time to explore more of those caves. Maybe I'd find other cool stuff, like dinosaur bones or ancient treasure! We made it back to our camp safe and sound. I was one tired kid after being lost in the caves all day, but I'll never forget that crazy adventure. Freeing a huge bear from being stuck? Yeah, I'd say that counts as a篇2A Visit to the CountrysideThis summer, my family and I went to visit my grandparents in the countryside. It was the best trip ever! I had been really excited for weeks before we left. Living in the city, I don't get too many chances to experience nature and be around farms and animals. The journey there was quite long - we had to drive for over three hours to get to my grandparents' village. But it was fun spotting different things out the car window as the scenery changed from tall buildings to green fields. I saw cows, horses, and even a few tractors driving along the roads! When we finally arrived, my grandparents were waiting for us outside their cute little stone house with a big smiles on their faces. They live in an old house that has been in our family for generations. It has a lovely garden out front with beautifulflowers and vegetables growing everywhere. The fresh country air smelled so nice and sweet. After we unpacked our bags and had a yummy lunch of grandma's famous chicken soup, they took us on a tour around their farm. I was so excited to see all the animals! They have chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, and even a couple of friendly dogs that live in the barn. Getting to pet the animals was my favorite part. The little chicks were so soft and fluffy! My grandpa started teaching me about all the different crops and vegetables he grows on the farm. He showed me how to tell which plants are weeds that need to be pulled. I got to help out in the vegetable garden by watering the plants and picking some juicy ripe tomatoes. Grandma says they always taste better when you grow them yourself. In the evenings after dinner, we would have big bonfires in the backyard. We roasted marshmallows and my dad told us scary ghost stories while we stared up at the millions of bright stars in the night sky. You can never see that many stars with all the city lights! I tried catching fireflies in a jar too, but they were too quick for me.One of the funnest days was when we went fishing down at the pond. Grandpa helped me put a worm on the hook andtaught me how to cast out my line. I didn't catch any fish that day, but it was still really relaxing sitting there in the warm sunshine, dangling my feet in the cool water. Grandpa said I was a great fisherman though and that I'd get the hang of it with more practice. Before we knew it, our week in the countryside was over. It went by way too fast! I was really sad to leave my grandparents' cozy house and all the fun we had on the farm. I made them promise to let me come back again soon. Maybe next time grandpa will even let me drive his old tractor!I loved getting to experience country living for a little while. It was such a nice change of pace from the constant hustle and bustle of the city. The clean air, playing outside all day, and getting to be so close to nature and animals was the best. I really appreciated all the little things I normally take for granted back home. It definitely made me understand where our food comes from too after helping in the garden.I have so many amazing memories from this trip that I'll never forget. Grandma and Grandpa are the sweetest people ever for showing us around their farm and teaching us about their lifestyle. Maybe when I grow up, I'll have my own little place out in the countryside too! For now though, I can't wait to goback and visit again soon. Nothing beats fresh air, cute farm animals, and grandma's home-cooked meals!篇3My Summer Vacation AdventuresThe school year just ended and summer vacation has finally arrived! I'm so excited for all the fun adventures I'm going to have over the next few months. Last summer seemed to fly by way too fast, but this year I'm determined to make the most of every single day.My family hasn't made any big篇4The Best Day of My LifeHave you ever had a day that was so incredibly amazing that you wished it would never end? Well, let me tell you about the best day of my life! It was a day filled with so much excitement, joy, and unforgettable memories that I still can't stop thinking about it.It all started on a sunny Saturday morning. I woke up feeling extra cheerful and energetic. As I bounced out of bed, I couldalready smell the delicious aroma of pancakes wafting from the kitchen. My mom had prepared my favorite breakfast – fluffy pancakes with maple syrup and a side of crispy bacon. Yum!After devouring my scrumptious breakfast, I hurried to get ready because we were going on a family trip to the amusement park! I had been looking forward to this day for weeks. I quickly threw on my favorite T-shirt with a rocket ship printed on it and a pair of comfy shorts. The car ride seemed to take forever, but finally, we arrived at the amusement park. My eyes widened in amazement as I took in the towering roller coasters, colorful rides, and the buzz of excited voices all around. I could barely contain my excitement! Our first stop was the gigantic Ferris wheel. As we slowly ascended to the top, I marveled at the breathtaking view of the entire park and the city skyline in the distance. It felt like I was on top of the world!Next, we headed to the roller coaster section. My heart raced as we waited in line for the biggest, fastest, and scariest roller coaster in the park. When our turn came, I mustered up all my courage and climbed into the front seat. As the coaster took off, I screamed at the top of my lungs, my stomach doing flips andturns with every loop and twist. It was an adrenaline rush like no other! After conquering the roller coasters, we played countless games and won some awesome prizes. I even managed to knock down all the milk bottles in one try and scored a giant, fluffy teddy bear that was almost as big as me!As the day wore on, we indulged in all sorts of delicious treats – cotton candy, caramel apples, funnel cakes, and more. My taste buds were in heaven! But the highlight of the day was yet to come. As the sun began to set, we made our way to the main stage area where a spectacular fireworks show was about to begin. We found the perfect spot on the grass and eagerly awaited the show. And then, it started. Brilliant bursts of color lit up the night sky, accompanied by booming sounds and mesmerizing patterns. It was like a magical display of light and sound, choreographed to perfection. I sat there, completely awestruck, my mouth agape in wonder. As the final firework faded into the darkness, thunderous applause erupted from the crowd. I turned to my parents, myface beaming with joy, and gave them the biggest hug ever. It was the perfect ending to the most amazing day of my life.On the drive home, I felt exhausted but incredibly happy. I hugged my giant teddy bear tightly, replaying every incredible moment in my mind. It was a day filled with so much laughter, excitement, and pure happiness that I knew I would cherish it forever. And you know what? I can't wait for the next adventure and the opportunity to create even more unforgettable memories. Life is truly wonderful, and days like these remind me just how lucky I am.篇5My Summer VacationThis summer was the best summer ever! I had so much fun and did so many cool things. I can't wait to tell you all about it.The summer started off with my birthday in June. I turned 10 years old! My parents threw me a big party and invited all my friends from school. We played games like pin the tail on the donkey and musical chairs. And I got lots of awesome presents -new video games, Lego sets, books, and even a brand new bicycle! It was a really fun day.A few days after my birthday, school let out for the summer break. Finally, no more homework or waking up early for three whole months! My parents had signed me up for summer camp though, so I wouldn't just sit around the house all day. I was a little bummed about having to go to camp at first, but it ended up being a blast! The camp was held at the recreation center near our house. Every week had a different fun theme. One week was physics and science experiments. We made baking soda volcanos, built circuits, and even launched rockets! Another week was outdoor adventures where we went hiking, set up tents, and learned camping skills. My favorite was probably the coding and robotics week where we programmed little Lego robots to do cool tricks. On the weekends, my family liked to go on little trips and outings. A few times we drove up to the mountains nearby for hiking and camping under the stars. I loved roasting marshmallows around the campfire and telling spooky stories! We also went to the beach a couple times to swim, build sandcastles, and try to catch little crabs in the tidal pools. Mybrother and I had a contest to see who could find the most intact sand dollar skeletons. Some weekends we stayed closer to home. We went bowling, played miniature golf, and saw a couple of movies at the theater like the new Pixar film. My dad is really into history, so we visited some of the local museums too - the air and space museum was probably the highlight for me. I got to sit in the cockpit of an old fighter jet!About halfway through the summer, my aunt and uncle came to visit us for a week. They live across the country, so I don't get to see them very often. We went into the city and did all the touristy things - visited landmarks, went up in the tall towers, explored markets and parks, and ate at lots of different ethnic restaurants. It was fun getting to explore the city and spend time with my relatives. In early August, my family went on our biggest trip of the summer - we flew across the country to go to Disneyland in California! I had been looking forward to this trip forever. We spent five days at the parks riding tons of rides, meeting the characters, watching shows, and just having a total blast. My favorite ride was probably Space Mountain, with all theloop-de-loops and feeling like you were blasting off into outerspace. We also got to experience the new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge area, which was incredible.Once we got back from Disneyland, it was time for summer camp to end and start preparing to go back to school. I picked out a new backpack, lunchbox, notebooks and pencils for the year ahead. I read through the assigned books for 4th grade and worked on some of the summer workbooks my mom got me, just to keep my brain fresh. As sad as I was for summer to be over, I was also excited to see my friends again and start a new grade. 4th grade is going to be so much fun! I think this school year I'd like to try out for the math team, join the computer coding club, and maybe even learn to play an instrument like the guitar.Looking back, this summer was just jam-packed with fun activities and amazing experiences with my family. We made so many wonderful memories that I'll never forget. I feel very lucky and grateful. I just wish summer could last forever and never end! But I guess that's what makes it so special. I already can't wait for next summer!篇6My School LifeHi there! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I just started 5th grade this year and I'm really excited to tell you all about my school life. Going to school is one of my favorite things – I love learning new things every day and seeing my friends. Let me give you all the details! My typical day starts pretty early. My mom wakes me up around 7am so I have time to get ready. I brush my teeth, get dressed, and head to the kitchen for breakfast. My favorite is waffles or pancakes, but I'll settle for cereal or toast most days. Then it's off to school! The best part of my morning is walking to school with my best friend Sara. She lives just a few houses down the street from me. We like to chat and play fun games like "I Spy" along the way. Sometimes we even race each other if we're running late. The walk takes about 15 minutes.Once we get to school, we go straight to our classroom and get settled at our desks. We have to be in our seats by 8:30am or we're marked tardy. Our teacher, Mrs. Thompson, is really nice but she can be strict about being on time. The first couple hours of the day are for our core subjects like math, reading, and English. I really like math because I'm good at it and find it pretty easy. Reading is ok, but English isprobably my least favorite. All the grammar rules can get confusing! Still, I try my best in every subject. At 10:30am we get a snack break for 15 minutes. This is when Sara and I like to go outside and run around on the playground for a bit. We'll maybe jump rope or play on the swings. It's a nice break to get some energy out before sitting down for more lessons. After snack time, we have "specials" classes like art, music, gym, and computer lab. These rotate each day, but they're my favorite part of school! I love being creative in art class and learning new songs in music. Gym is great for getting exercise by playing fun games. And of course, who doesn't enjoy computer time?Around 12:15pm, it's time for lunch. Sara and I always buy the hot lunch in the cafeteria. They have good kid-friendly options like pizza, chicken nuggets, or pasta. Sometimes I'll pack a lunch from home if I know they're serving something I'm not a fan of. After we're done eating, we have outdoor recess for half an hour. This is when everyone can really run around and let loose before afternoon classes. The rest of the day flies by with more core lessons, usually social studies and science. I really enjoy science because we getto do lots of fun experiments and hands-on activities. Social studies can be a little dry when we just have to read from the textbook though. Finally, at 3:00pm the final bell rings and it's time to go home! Sara and I meet up and happily walk back together, chatting about our day. Once I'm home, I have a little downtime to watch some TV or play outside. Then it's time to start on my homework for a couple hours before dinner. After dinner, I'll maybe read for a bit or play some games with my parents. We have to get ready for bed around 8:30pm since I'm only 10. I try to get a good night's sleep because I know I have another busy day at school coming up!Overall, I really love going to school each day. My classes are interesting, I get to spend time with my friends, and I'm always learning so many new things. The days can feel long sometimes, but they go by quickly when you're having fun. I feel so lucky that my parents make sure I get a good education. There are a few things I don't like, like any kid. I wish we got more recess time to run around, and I really dislike doing homework after a long day. But those minor dislikes are totally outweighed by how much I enjoy being a student and all the adventures that come with it every day!Well, that's my life as an elementary school kid. It's equal parts learning, playing, and spending quality time with friends. School keeps me active and engaged all day long. I can't wait to see what other experiences await me in the higher grade levels! But for now, I'm just savoring every minute of being a 5th grader. Thanks for letting me tell you about a typical day in my amazing school life!。
