Why do people get married
Why do people get married?Once I surfed on the Internet, I scanned a survey about today people‟s attitude towards marriage. I found in the big cities of China ,such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, young people prefer cohabitation to marriage. This phenomenon becomes common and popular. In their eyes, love is romantic whereas marriage is practical. More and more people hold the view …Marriage is the grave of love‟. However, there are still many people getting married. So nowadays, why do people get married? In the following text I will give you my views about the puzzling question that why people get married. As far as I am concerned, Chinese traditional views(男大当婚,女大当嫁) about marriage make a lot sense. To most, they believe they should get married when they‟re old enough and have their own career. They‟ll do as others do, finding a right person, later, giving birth to a child or more to have a stable family. Ma rriage, to them, is an indispensable procedure of life. It‟s a process of emotional, intellectual and spiritual sharing and challenge. It‟s human nature. Without it, he or she is a person incomplete.Of course, people may marry someone for true love. Because they love each other, they make the lifelong promise. They would like to face the ups and downs together during their life.Another reason is solitude(孤独)—the strongest enemy of today‟s people. Because of the high-paced lifestyle, work pressure and indifference, modern people pretend to be independent but actually lonely inside. People marry to get company that they would not get if they were single. Nobody wants to return to an empty home, which is what happens if you do not marry. Isolation can be killing. Studies have shown that isolation can be harmful to health as heavy smoking or drinking.Marriage is the crucial period which everyone has to experience. You may have no idea why you get married even you have married. Most people may probably believe it is natural. “I get married because I should!”Michel de Montaigne said …Marriage is like a cage, one sees the outside desperate to get in and those ins ide desperate to get out‟. There‟re still many other factors to explain why we get married today. It depends on our inner side. It‟s up to every single person.。
爱情是婚姻的坟墓的看法英语作文
爱情是婚姻的坟墓的看法英语作文Love is the Graveyard of Marriage? My name is Timmy and I'm 10 years old. I love learning about new things and one day my teacher told us we would be learning about marriage. She said marriage is when two people fall in love and decide to live together forever. I got really excited because I love love stories! But then she said something confusing. She said there's a famous quote that "Love is the graveyard of marriage." A graveyard is where dead people are buried, so I didn't understand why love would be the graveyard or death of marriage. Isn't love supposed to be the reason people get married in the first place?I raised my hand and asked my teacher to explain what that quote means. She said some people believe that after you get married, the love and passion you felt for your husband or wife before getting married starts to fade away over time. The spark Dies out and you end up just going through the motions instead of being madly in love like you were at first.I thought about my parents and wondered if their love had become a graveyard. They've been married for 12 years, which isa really long time! When I was younger, I remember them kissing and hugging a lot. But now they don't do that as much. Instead, they spend a lot of time working, cleaning the house, and taking care of me and my little brother.Sometimes I hear them arguing or getting annoyed with each other over little things like who forgot to take out the trash or load the dishwasher. I don't think I've ever seen them on a romantic date night in forever. Is that what happens when love goes to the graveyard after marriage? But then I remember all the things my parents do for our family because they love us. My dad works really hard at his job to make money to pay for our house, food, clothes, and toys. My mom is always making sure we're bathed, fed, helping us with homework, and tucking us into bed at night. She takes us to the park, the library, and kids' museum on weekends. They go to all my baseball games and dance recitals to cheer me on.And sometimes, if I'm still awake at night, I'll hear them laughing and talking together in the living room after me and my brother go to bed. Or I'll wake up on Saturday mornings and see them hugging and kissing in the kitchen while they make pancakes. So even if my parents don't act all kissy-faced and romantic in front of us all the time anymore, I don't think the love is dead in their marriage. It just looks different than when they were first boyfriend and girlfriend without any kids or responsibilities. The love is still there, it just grew up and changed a little.Maybe that's what the quote means - that love changes form after marriage but doesn't completely disappear into a graveyard. Instead of being the excited rush of new love, it becomes something more calm, comfortable, and steady. A love that provides security, partnership, and teamwork. A love that puts family needs before selfish romantic wants sometimes. From what I've seen with my parents, I don't think love HAS to be the graveyard of marriage. As long as both people don't take each other for granted and still make an effort to keep love alive in little ways, it can be the strong foundation that a healthy, happy marriage is built on forever. At least that's what I think for now at 10 years old. Maybe I'll understand it better when I'm older and experience marriage myself someday!。

The Relationship of Marriage and Love
The Relationship of Marriage and LoveElvis LeeGuang Dong University of Foreign Studies, GuangzhouAbstract This essay challenges the traditional viewpoint “marriage is the grave of love” by analyzing the positive and negative aspects in youth marriage, both in “marriages for love” and in “arranged marriage”. I argue that marriage must be involved by love, or it will decay, leading to plenty of marriage problems. Above this phenomenon, I try to give some suggestions to youth about living a successful marriage life. IntroductionIn modern society, love and marriage are often considered as different processes of a couple‟s relationship, because people argue that from love to marriage, the passionwill gradually fade out, love finally infuse in family relationship. In recent years, many marriage problems appear. Family violence, cold sex talk, extramarital affair are mainly leading the rates of divorce around the world to reach a new height.(, 2013) Marriage environment is severe, young couples struggle in their marriage and life. On one hand, they want to marry for their love but many of them don‟t h ave steady financial conditions. On the other hand, some young people, female mostly, marry elder ones who have financial or social background arranged by their parents. The balance of love and life guarantee seems too hard for them to handle.Advantages & Disadvantages in arranged marriageBlind date is a typical step before arranged marriage in modern society. Boy and girl are arranged meeting by their parents. Behind this, it shows the match of their family value. According to the matching theory, the more similarities two young man share, the more possibilities they get together. It is the same in the marriage. First of all, parents make insurance to their children‟s life, so who they arrange must have financial support. Second, the two families have the same social status which makes less arguments and disagreements between them. (Xu guangxing, 2009) But as for the two, the negative aspect is obvious: no one will marry a stranger. Very likely, unwillingness and strangeness will be deepened as the time past, leading a miserable marriage life or ending abruptly without hesitation.According to the triarchic theory of love (Robert Sternberg, 2003), love is divided into three parts: intimacy, passion and commitment. Different balances of these three parts lead different result towards the relationship. In arranged marriage, the financial and social insurance form the “commitment”, and the “commitment” love only content the responsibilities and social rule. Without passion and intimacy, the relationship is rational and empty. They find other ways to fulfill that empty through extramarital affair and create family crisis.Advantages & disadvantages in marriage for loveMarriage for love seems invincible, but this kind of marriage is more fragile than the arranged marriage. As marriage for love begins with the romantic relationship, boy and girl know each other much. But the challenge is that after they live together, they are completely exposed to each other. The gap between after marriage and before marriage usually disappoints them. Another obstacle in front of this relationship is the financial ability and the gap of their family. Young lover get married acting on impulse, neglecting their financial background, which may leads to hard living situation, followed by the communication issues. The gap of their family also does harm to them, such as In-laws issues, giving pressure to them and separating them in mental aspect. The triarchic theory of love could explain this marriage either. Marriage of love is consisted of passion and intimacy. But the passion will gradually fade out as the timepast and finally become a very small part in the balance. If the “intimacy” is bothered by the social issues, then “commitment” remains the rest, being very dangerous in their relationship. In this case, to maintain the intimacy is necessary.Love maintain the length of marriageAs two kinds of marriage present the different issues in marriage, the issues are mutual. If boy and girl could fix both kinds of issues at the same time, their marriage will be perfect. The two kinds of marriage represent the need of the love and the need of survival, which are both necessary in marriage. Without one of them, marriage could never be happy. Like a machine, the financial and social insurance is the tough framework of marriage and love is the core of marriage. To maintain the length of marriage, love plays a crucial role.Actually, arranged marriage and marriage for love are just the beginning of a marriage. If boy and girl take effective measures to change the situation, even in the arranged marriage, the end may be happiness. The key word is intimacy. Compatibility is required. For arranged marriage, they could get to know each other gradually as friend. For marriage for love, they could turn passion to intimacy. And passion could be added bit by bit. No matter what kinds of marriage you are in, the companion lovewill be the perfect end.Instead of definitely unchanging, marriage could be reconstructed in any time. It is not the continuation of love but a corporation of both man and woman. (Xu guangxing, 2009) Mark and Susan‟s case (Gear Bear, 2009) shows the power of compatibility which saves the relationship in danger. Mark and Susan always arguefor odds and ends, but they never mean to hurt each other. Mark starts to get tired of it, and the divorce thing comes up to his mind. When Susan knows that, she cries and argues all the day. At first, Mark determines to divorce. But latter, a friend tells him to think the thing from Susan‟s viewpoint. He is suddenly aware of how bad he treated his wife who was used to be very precious to him. Mark apologizes to Susan, and sheforgives him immediately. Communication and understanding are the useful tools in growing intimacy, the companion love.ConclusionThe marriage phenomenon in modern society is bothered by too many things, losing its purity. But as marriage is one kind of sex relationship, basically it is a social issue. (Havelock Elis, 1933) Things in real are more complicated. But whatever other things are involved in, love still remains an important part as human nature. Humans require love from their life. Such as cohabit, homosexual marriage, more and more new marriage modes appear, showing the vitality of marriage and the desire people requiring love in different ways. Marriage is gradually growing catalyzed by love.References (2013)…Family violence, cold sex talk, extramarital affair are mainly leading the rates of divorce around the world to reach a new height. ‟Xu guangxing (2009)…the two families have the same social status which makes less arguments and disagreements between them.‟…It is not the continuation of love but a corporation of both man and woman.‟Cases analyzing of Chinese & American marriageRobert Sternberg (2003)…triarchic theory of love‟Gear Bear (2009)…Mark and Susan‟s case‟True loveHavelock Elis (1933)…But as marriage is one kind of sex relationship, b asically it is a social issue.‟Psychology of Sex。

Marriage, a timeless institution, holds a profound significance in human society. Throughout history, it has been a cornerstone of social order, personal fulfillment, and cultural expression. In this essay, we will delve into the multifaceted aspects of marriage, exploring its evolution, significance, and contemporary challenges. To understand the essence of marriage, we must first examine its historical roots. The concept of marriage dates back to ancient civilizations, where it served primarily as a means of forging alliances, securing property rights, and perpetuating lineage. In many cultures, marriage was not only a union between individuals but also between families, symbolizing the consolidation of resources and power.Over time, the institution of marriage underwentsignificant transformations, reflecting shifts in societal norms, values, and beliefs. With the advent of monotheistic religions, marriage became imbued with spiritual and moral dimensions, emphasizing fidelity, companionship, and procreation. The Judeo-Christian tradition, for instance, views marriage as a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, ordained by God for the purpose of mutual supportand the propagation of life.In the modern era, marriage has evolved into a more egalitarian institution, marked by greater emphasis on love, intimacy, and personal fulfillment. The romantic ideal of marriage, popularized during the Enlightenment and Romantic periods, emphasizes emotional connection and individual autonomy within the marital bond. This shift has led to a redefinition of marriage as a partnership based on mutual affection, respect, and shared aspirations. However, despite its enduring significance, marriage faces a myriad of challenges in the contemporary world. One such challenge is the changing dynamics of gender roles and expectations within marriage. With the rise of feminism andgender equality movements, traditional gender norms androles are being reexamined and renegotiated, leading to tensions and conflicts within marital relationships. Moreover, the institution of marriage is being reshaped by demographic trends such as declining marriage rates, delayed marriage, and rising divorce rates. Economic factors, cultural shifts, and changing attitudes towards commitment and monogamy have contributed to these trends, raising questions about the future viability of marriage as an institution.Furthermore, the legalization of same-sex marriage in many parts of the world has expanded the boundaries of marital inclusivity and diversity. By recognizing therights of LGBTQ+ individuals to marry and form legally recognized unions, societies are affirming the principle of equality and inclusivity within the institution of marriage. In conclusion, marriage remains a complex and multifaceted institution that continues to evolve in response to social, cultural, and legal changes. While itssignificance as a cornerstone of social order and personal fulfillment endures, marriage faces ongoing challenges and transformations in the contemporary world. By embracing diversity, inclusivity, and mutual respect, we can ensure that the institution of marriage remains relevant and meaningful for generations to come.。
爱情是婚姻的坟墓的看法英语作文
Love as the Graveyard of Marriage?Love, often described as the purest and most beautiful emotion, is often idealized in poetry, music, andliterature. It is seen as the driving force behindcountless stories of joy, passion, and companionship. However, there is another perspective that views love asthe graveyard of marriage. This notion suggests that over time, the passions and dreams associated with love can fade, leading to a state of dissatisfaction and even conflict within a marriage. To understand this perspective, one must consider the dynamics of a relationship. In the initial stages of a relationship, love is often intense and consuming. Partners idealize each other, seeing only the positive aspects of their loved one. However, as time passes and therelationship moves towards marriage, the realities of life begin to intrude. Responsibilities, financial pressures, and daily routines can take a toll on the romantic aspectsof a relationship.Additionally, expectations and ideals often clash with the realities of married life. Partners may find that theirspouse does not meet their expectations in certain areas, leading to feelings of disappointment and frustration. This can lead to arguments and conflicts that were not presentin the earlier stages of the relationship.Furthermore, the individual growth and changes that occur in both partners can also affect the relationship. As people grow and develop, their interests, values, and goals may shift. If these changes are not accommodated and understood by both partners, it can lead to a growing rift within the marriage. However, it is important to note that while love may indeed be the graveyard of some marriages, it is not necessarily so for all. Many marriages thrive and flourish, even after years of being together. The key lies in the ability of both partners to work through the challenges, communicate effectively, and maintain a sense of respect and understanding for each other.Communication is crucial in maintaining the health of a relationship. By openly discussing feelings, expectations, and challenges, partners can build a stronger foundation of trust and understanding. They can also seek solutions toproblems that arise, rather than allowing them to fester and lead to conflict. Moreover, it is essential for partners to maintain a sense of individuality within the marriage. Preserving personal interests, goals, and friendships helps to prevent the feeling of stagnation and allows individuals to continue growing and developing. This, in turn, enriches the relationship, as each partner brings new experiences and perspectives to share with their spouse. In conclusion, while there may be some truth to the saying that love is the graveyard of marriage, it is not an inevitable fate. By fostering open communication, mutual respect, and individual growth, partners can build a strong and lasting foundation for their relationship. Love, when nurtured and cherished, can continue to flourish within the context of marriage, rather than serving as its demise.**爱情是婚姻的坟墓吗?**爱情,这一常被描绘为最纯洁、最美好情感的词汇,在诗歌、音乐和文学中常被理想化。

结婚重要的英文作文英文:Marriage is one of the most important decisions a person can make in their life. It is a commitment to spend the rest of your life with another person, through good times and bad. There are many reasons why people choose to get married, such as love, companionship, stability, and starting a family. For me, getting married is important because it signifies a deep level of commitment and love between two people. It is a public declaration of our love and a promise to support each other through all of life's challenges. I believe that marriage can bring a sense of security and stability to a relationship, as well as a deeper level of intimacy and connection. One of the most important aspects of marriage for me is the ability to build a life together with my partner. Thisincludes sharing responsibilities, making joint decisions, and creating a home that reflects both of our personalities and values. I also value the opportunity to start a family and raise children together, creating a legacy that will last for generations. In addition to the practical benefits of marriage, there is also a strong emotional component. Being married to someone means that you have someone to share your life with, someone to laugh with, cry with, and grow old with.It is a bond that can bring immense joy and fulfillment to both partners.Overall, I believe that marriage is a deeply meaningful and important institution. While it is not for everyone, for those who choose to enter into it, it can be a source of great happiness and fulfillment.中文:结婚是人生中最重要的决定之一。
结婚是爱情的坟墓英语作文
结婚是爱情的坟墓英语作文Marriage is the Graveyard of Love。
Marriage is often considered to be the ultimate expression of love and commitment between two people. However, the reality is that marriage can often become the graveyard of love, where the once passionate flames of love are buried under the weight of daily responsibilities, conflicts, and unmet expectations. In this essay, I will explore the reasons why marriage can be the graveyard of love and suggest ways to prevent this from happening.Firstly, marriage can become the graveyard of love because of unrealistic expectations. Many people enter into marriage with the expectation that their partner willfulfill all their emotional, physical, and material needs. However, this is an unrealistic expectation that can lead to disappointment and resentment. When expectations are not met, couples can become dissatisfied with each other and begin to drift apart.Secondly, marriage can become the graveyard of love because of conflicts. Conflicts are a natural part of any relationship, but they can become more frequent and intense in marriage. When couples are living together, they aremore likely to experience conflicts over things like household chores, finances, and parenting. If theseconflicts are not resolved in a healthy way, they can leadto resentment and a breakdown in communication.Thirdly, marriage can become the graveyard of love because of a lack of effort. Many couples assume that once they are married, they no longer need to put in effort to maintain their relationship. However, this is a dangerous assumption that can lead to neglect and apathy. Couplesneed to continue to put in effort to keep theirrelationship strong, whether it's through date nights, romantic gestures, or simply taking the time to listen to each other. To prevent marriage from becoming the graveyard of love, couples need to be realistic about their expectations, learn to resolve conflicts in a healthy way, and continue to put in effort to maintain their relationship. They also need to be willing to communicate openly and honestly with each other, and to seek help when needed. Marriage can be a beautiful and fulfilling journey, but it requires work and commitment from both partners. In conclusion, marriage can be the graveyard of love if couples are not careful. However, with the right mindset and effort, couples can prevent this from happening and enjoy a long and happy life together. Love is not something that can be taken for granted, but rather something that needs to be nurtured and cherished every day.。

Marriage is the Grave of Love
Previously, lots of people believed that love contributed to the marriage of two lovers. And in return marriage was like a rose garden which could nourish the flower of love .But now young generation thinks that marriage is the grave of love, which is regarded as a truth by some youngers. To some extent, this saying has stated clearly what the relationship between marriage and love is. But according to my analysis, love and marriage are basically two different things and haven’t the indispensable relationship to be connected together. One is romantic while the other is realistic. They can only conflict with each other and the confrontation can’t be reconciled. Marriage is the grave for love.
First of all,When two people get married, the reduction of distance would make it possible for both of them to expose previously covered defects. The discovery of these defects may contribute to the fading of love.Everybody may admit that ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’. People a re more likely to discover the shining points of the other and be attracted to each other when they are not as close as spouses. That is to say, when the couple is too close, the attractiveness will decrease.
What’s more, after the marriage, the couple is not romantic lovers any more, but realistic husband and wife. They have to face butter and bread instead of candle lit dinners, they have to handle financial problems rather than where to take a exciting trip, and they have to face arguments instead of sweet whispers. Most of the things after marriage are everything but romantic which is closely related to love. Obviously, realism kills love!
However, the essential reason for the loss of love is the vanishing of love deference. In marital life, it is unnecessary to be polite and everything becomes so common and routine that it is very easy for them to lose the feeling of adoration and the heavenly affection toward each other. Hence, the love deference is gradually vanishing.
Finally, marriage is maintained by the commonly acknowledged tolerance and family responsibilities more than the constantly pure love. Marriage does not mainly rely on the faithfulness of love and love can’t get enough support in return. Marriage is relatively firm compared with love, for marriage is a kind of compact people approve of and assured by common morals and legal regulations. What’s more, love accumulates energy while marriage releases energy. Love inspires lovers to store the passion and affection for each other, the energy increases as the love deepens. However, marriage requires energy to maintain and polish, thus passion and affection are consumed day after day until the source is used up.
To conclude, marriage may be compared to a cage, those outside despair to get in, and those within despair to get out. Why? Because only after people get in to see what marriage really means to love, they come to realize that marriage is the grave of love instead of the so-called deceptive rose garden.。
