• academic ability has really come to dominate our view of intelligence because the universities designed the system in their image. • Many highly talented, brilliant, creative people think they’re not, because the thing they were good at at school wasn’t valued, or was actually stigmatized. • For example: A computer genius would be rejected by the college and be stoped in his track to pursue his dream just because his English or Chinese is not so good.And I think it’s quite arbitrary Would a computer genius need the same language as a layer or a writer?I don’t think so.

• Very many people go through their whole lives having no real sense of what their talents may be and what they’re good at • They get no great pleasure from what they do. • They simply go through their lives getting on with it. • They endure it and wait for the weekend.

to a model that is based more on principles of agriculture to create the conditions under which students will begin to flourish.

• every education system on earth has the same heirarchy of subjects • mathematics and languages • humanities • arts and sports • Now our education system is predicated on the idea of academic ability • The whole system came into being round the world the 19th century to meet the needs of industrialism.
Current situation
• With the huge explosion in population of graduates from colleges,suddenly degrees aren’t worth anything. • Kids with degrees are often heading home to carry on playing computer games, because you need an MA where the previous job required a BA, and now you need a PhD for the other. • It’s a process of academic inflation.
• The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country ------Lincoln Dec.1862 at the meeting of Congress (American civil war to abolish the slavery)
• the result is, we are educated out of our creative capacities. • We have built our education systems on the model of fast food where everything is standardized. And we have sold ourselves into a fast food model of education, and it's impoverishing our spirit and our energies as much as fast food is depleting our physical bodies.

We need to radically rethink our view of intelligence about its diversity dynamism and distinction & reconstitute our sense of ability and intelligence
