全国硕士生入学英语考试大纲对短文写作做了明确的规定。
考生要根据所给题目、素材、写作提纲、规定情景或图表等在４０分钟内写出不少于１５０词的短文。
要求内容切题，表达清楚，意义连贯，语言比较规范。
根据大纲的要求，考生要想在短文写作中取得高分，首先要具备两方面的英语基本功：一是较强的句子表达水平，句子要写正确、表达准确到位，要有一定的英语修辞知识。
二要具备英语语篇写作知识，这样才能适应不同类型的命题，主动灵活有条理地运用自己的语言知识和能力写好短文。
此外，考生还应对作文考题有一定的了解，知己知彼才能稳操胜券。
考题特点：（１）作文选材均为热门话题并贴近生活作文选题范围均为当今社会的热门话题，从电视广告到希望工程，从父母与子女的关系到拥有健康的重要性，从世界烟民现状到近年盛行一时的“承诺”，环境保护，无不反映了当前公众最为关注的事。
（２）文体多为说明文与议论文说明文和议论文用途较广，我们平时接触的文章、报纸、信件等等多为这两种体裁。
在工作岗位上所撰写的材料大多也是说明或议论文。
因而考这种体裁的写作比较符合实际需要。
（３）出题形式趋于多样化１９９１年至１９９６年的作文题一直呈一种模式，直到１９９７年才被打破。
这一变革显示了国家教委对提高考生的实际运用语言能力的重视，同时也要求考生要在多写多练上下功夫，这样才能在作文考试中夺取高分。
提高笔头表达能力是关键：我们希望广大考生要在切实提高英语写作水平上下功夫，不能靠扣题、押题或背诵一些短文应付考试，其结果必然与希望的相差甚远。
背诵是学习英语的一种好方法，但仅靠背诵来提高英语写作水平是不够的。
写作水平的提高还是要靠亲自动笔写，多写多练，把学到的语言知识运用在写作中去。
考生可以参考以下方法进行写作练习。

（二）正确表达正确表达是在充分理解原文的基础上进行的，就是译者把自已对原文所理解的内容用准确、通顺、符合英语表达习惯的英文重新再现出来。
表达的好坏主要取决于对原文理解的深度以及对英文的掌握程度和熟练程度。
在翻译时，要根据上下文及内在的逻辑关系，选择适当的句子结构及词汇。
（三）核校译文在翻译完之后，要对照原文，对译文作核实、校对，看看译文是否符合上述翻译的基本原则；在人名、地名、日期、方位、数字方面的否有错漏；译文的段、句或重要的词是否有错漏；是否有译错的或不妥的句子、词组或词；译文的句子结构、时态、语态、标点符号、大小写等是否正确。
力求方方面面都注意到这样才能得到满意的译文，也就能够得高分。

2013在职硕士英语辅导班写作讲义一、写作简介根据《同等学力人员申请硕士学位英语水平全国统一考试大纲》的规定，考生应具有用英语书面表达思想的基本能力。
写作部分设一题，15分。
考试时间为30分钟。
要求考生在规定的时间内按照题目要求用英语写出一篇不少于150个词的短文，考试形式为根据提纲作文、看图作文、描述图表或根据一篇所给文章写出内容提要或读后感等。
二、写作评分标准评判批改作文时，主要从内容和语言两个方面进行综合评判。
内容和语言是一个统一体。
作文应表达题目所规定的内容，而内容要通过语言来表达。
作文是否切题，是否充分表达思想，和语言上的错误是否造成理解上的障碍有密切的关系。
因此写作评分标准主要围绕四个方面：（1）内容切题；（2）能正确地表达思想；（3）意义连贯；（4）无重大语法错误。
具体分为以下五个等次:2分……条理不清，思路紊乱，语言支离破碎或大部分句子均有错误，且多数为严重错误。
5分……基本切题。
表达思想不清楚，连贯性差。
有较多的严重语言错误。
8分……基本切题。
有些地方表达思想不够清楚，文字勉强连贯；语言错误相当多，其中有一些是严重错误。
11分……切题。
表达思想清楚，文字连贯，但有少量语言错误。
14分……切题。
表达思想清楚，文字通顺，连贯性好。
基本上无语言错误，仅有个别小错。
注: 白卷、作文与题目毫不相关,或只有几个孤立的词而无法表达思想，则给0分。
字数不足应酌情扣分。
注: 1. 如题目中给出主题句、起始句、结束句，均不得计入所写字数。
2. 规定内容未写全者按比例扣分。
