We reached Albuquerque in the late afternoon. Uncle Paul, my dad’s friend, picked us up from the airport and drove us to his farm in Pecos. His wife Tina cooked us a delicious dinner and we got to know his sons Ryan and Kyle. My dad and I spent the night in the guestroom of the farm house listening to the frogs and water rolling down the river nearby. Very early in the morning, Uncle Paul woke us up to have breakfast. “The day starts at dawn on my farm,” he said. After breakfast, I went to help Aunt Tina feed the chickens, while my dad went with Uncle Paul to take the sheep out to graze(吃草). I was impressed to see my dad and Uncle Paul riding horses. They looked really cool.In the afternoon, I asked Uncle Paul if I could take a horse ride, and he said yes, as long as my dad went with me. I wasn’t going to take a horse ride by myself anyway. So, my dad and I put on our new cowboy hats, got on our horses, and headed slowly towards the mountain. “Don’t be late for supper,” Uncle Paul cried, “an d keep tothe track so that you don’t get lost!” “OK!” My dad cried back. After a while Uncle Paul and his farm were out of sight. I asked my dad if we could follow it and he nodded. The rabbit was very flexible, so it jumped here and there, which powerfully attracted us to catchit. Suddenly the rabbit stopped in front of a hole and began to graze. I kept up my spirits and immediately caught it. I could hardly conceal my excitement and turned back to show it to my dad. But without giving me any cheers of encouragement, helooked at me heavy-heartedly and said sadly, “My son, I willtell you bad news that we have got lost and I don't know the way.” Silence hung around us and we fell into desperation. We didn't know where we were and the sky became dark. To avoid getting stuck into a whirlpool of negativity, my dad and I rode the horse to find the track and I shouted “help” from time to time. When we felt exhausted and overwhelmed, Isuddenly noticed a river in the distance. “Dad! Quickly, go to that river.” I yelled. Though feeling confused, he still followed my words. I said excitedly, “Dad, I think the riveris the one nearby the farm house. So if we walk along the river, we may get back.” Finally he agreed and walked after what seemed like a century, the farm house came into sight. When wewere approaching the house, we saw Uncle Paul, who was intending to go out to look for us. Hearing our experience, he sighed and patted me on the shoulder, saying, “Now everything is OK. 2018年6月浙江高考英语续写《优秀作文集》 6
Suddenly a little rabbit ran in front of my horse and aroused my interest. However, no sooner had I wanted to take a good look at it than it ran away. Feeling disappointed, I asked dad to show me around instead of just keeping to the track. Hesitant as he was, he was also bored with the same scene and finally decided to go for a men’s adventure. My eyes met with my dad’s and we began to ride faster immersing ourselves in the beauty and freedom. Views changed quickly and we saw some relaxed sheep, a pure river and the setting sun. When we noticed the strange scene around, our smiles froze. We thought we would find the way, but we did get lost.
We didn't know where we were and the sky became dark. Exposed to the cold air, our bodies started to tremble. The darkness swallowed everything and only presented hopelessness to us. The wind cooled our mind. We calmed ourselves down and yelled for help. But there was no response but the echoes of our voices. I really wanted to cry but I managed to fight my tears back. Suddenly we heard the singing of frogs and the sound of running An idea occurred to me that we could approach the river and ride along it. Though the process was slow, finally we saw the light from the farm house. My dad and I smiled radiantly, appreciating our bravery and perseverance.
