You should spend about20minutes on this task. The graph shows the impact of vaccinations on the incidence of whooping cough, a childhood illness,between1940and1990in Britain.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. The graph shows the changing number of cases of whooping cough in Britain from1940to1990,and how the introduction and use of a vaccine for the disease affected the pattern.Apparently, there was a direct link between the administration of the vaccine and the number of cases of whooping cough among children during this period in history. Overall, the number of cases fell from a high of170,000to almost zero. However, there were significant fluctuations in the trend. For example, just after1940,there was a surge in the number of cases from50,000toapproximately170,000.Although the figure fell back in the next few years, it peaked again in the early1950s and fluctuated considerably until the introduction of a vaccination in the late1950s.Following this, the number of cases dropped sharply to well below20,000 in the mid-1970s,until a sudden fall in vaccinations,from81percent to30 percent, resulted in a parallel rise in the incidence of the illness.Figures then went up again to60,000around1980,but gradually fell back to their earlier level as vaccinations were resumed.By1990,94percent of children were being vaccinated against whooping cough, and there were few,if any, cases.(208words)。

environmental problems are widespread that they can hardly be confined to one single country or region, such as oil spills and dust storms. It is crucial that these problems be solved with international efforts. Each country and person should be made aware of their unique role in environmental protection.+2 The second reason why international joint efforts are needed to solve extravagantlifestyles with huge houses and cars. Many people find their rewards unfair, especially when comparingthese super salaries with those of top surgeons or research scientists, or even leading politicians who have the responsibilityof governing the country. However, sports salaries are not determined by considering the contribution to society a person makes, or the level of responsibility he or she holds.Instead, they reflect the public popularity of sport in general and the level of public support that successful stars can generate. So the notion of ‘fairness’ is not the issue. Those who feel that sports stars’ salaries are justified might argu e that the number of professionals with real talent are very few, and the money is a recognition of the skills and dedication a person needs to be petition is constant and a player is tested every time they perform.in their relatively short career. The pressure from the media is intense and there is little privacy out of the spotlight. So all of thesefactors may justify the huge earnings.Personally, I think that the amount of money such sports stars make is more justified than the huge earnings of movie stars, but at the same time, it indicatesthat our society places more value on sport than on more essential professions and achievements.参考翻译:在媒体不断地推波助澜下,我国的许多职业运动员已成为了明星和名人。

In 1979 beef was by far the most popular of these foods, with about 225 grams consumed per person per week. Lamb and chicken were eaten in similar quantities (around 150 grams), while much less fish was consumed (just over 50 grams). However, during this 25-year period the consumption of beef and lamb fell dramatically to approximately 100 grams and 55 grams respectively. The consumption of fish also declined, but much less significantly to just below 50 grams, so although it remained the least popular food, consumption levels were the most stable. The consumption of chicken, on the other hand, showed an upward trend, overtaking that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef in 1989. By 2004 it had soared to almost 250 grams per person per week. Overall, the graph shows how the consumption of chicken increased dramatically while the popularity of these other foods decreased over the period.) 解析:3.You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Generally, the chart shows an upward trend in acceptance of video games among men of this culture, while the age categories didn't change position in relation to each other. 15-24 year olds played the most video games overall, with just under 20% in 1984 rising to 50% in 2003. Despite some rocky patches in the 90s, no-one enjoyed video games more than 15-24 year olds, although it looked like 7-14 year olds would in 1984, when they trailed 15-24 year olds by only a few percent. However, after a steady increase, around 35% said they enjoyed them in 2003. The 25-34 year olds valiantly tried to enjoy video games, with the closest other age groups getting being 1992. Finally, we have the over 35s, a group that started with a near 0% interest in games in 1984, but grew to 20% in 2003. One can only predict that as the current generation of gamers grows older, this number can only increase.)解析:4.You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. 雅思写作例文 Task 2 01
You should spend about40minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:The most important consideration when choosing any career or job is having a high income. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least250words.Answer:It is widely accepted that, for most people, their daily working lives will not be spent in their dream jobs.Despite this,I do not feel that people should instead prioritise becoming a high earner above all other concerns. To begin with,I strongly believe that people need stimulation in their daily working lives in order to feel a sense of reward.Very few of us can go through an entire career staying in a position or an industry that we find boring purely for the financial incentive.Secondly, there are so many people who see their working life as a search for fulfilment and contentment in helping others, rather than a search for wealth. It seems unlikely that the priority for, say, every nurse or teacher in the world is to become well-off,and jobs such as these are rarely extremely well-paid.Despite this, some would argue that those people who have families to support should always prioritise earning a high income;after all,it means securing their children's future.Others point out that,as the job market becomes increasingly unstable across the globe,it is vital to earn more and therefore save more. However,I do not agree that a good salary should necessarily be the number one concern for everyone.Too many people become preoccupied with the next pay rise or career move, and eventually become unhappy or even depressed, neither of which helps them to save or to provide for their family. In summary, earning as much money as is humanly possible should not be anyone's main concern.Granted,it arguably brings financial stability, for individuals and for their families, but it is simply not worth tolerating a lifetime of unhappiness at work purely for the money.(291words)。

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.正确答案:The pie charts describe the changes of percentages of different age groups’ population in Yemen and Italy. In Yemen, the population of 15-59 age group is expected to reach 57.3% in 2050, outpacing children and becoming the majority of the total population. Accordingly, the percentage of children population is predicted to fall to 37% from more than half in 2000. In addition, the population of senior people was and is projected to be the minority of the country with 3.6% in 2000 and estimated 5.7% in 2050. In Italy, the significant change would happen on the percentage of senior people, which is predicted to reach 42.3%. Compared with the proportion of 2000 (24.1%), it is nearly doubled. Correspondingly, the percentages of children and 15-59 year olds would decrease from 14.3% to 11.5% and 61.6% to 46.2% respectively to make room for the increase of proportion of senior people. To sum up, it can be concluded that Yemen is expected to be a young and middle-aged people dominated country, while Italy is on the way to be an aging society. 涉及知识点:小作文(看图作文)2.The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparison where relevant.正确答案:The line graph describes how US energy consumption by six different fuels changed since 1980 and projections to 2030. It is clear to see that the energy derived from petrol and oil was and is projected to be the major consumption source in the US. The developing trend of such energy consumption is, generally speaking, increasing and predicted to reach a little under 50 quadrillion in 2030 from 35 quadrillion in 1980, though there were some fluctuations in the first 15 years. The energy consumption produced by coal and natural gas nearly follows the same developing trend in this 50-year period. From 1980 till the present day, the energy consumptions based on these two fuels both fluctuated with a rising trend and reached 25 quadrillion in 2015. From this point onwards, the energy produced by coal is predicted to continue growing and hit over 30 quadrillion in 2030, while that of natural gas should remain stable at 25 quadrillion. The energy generated by nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower plays a much less significant role in Americanpeople’s life. They all started at 4 quadrillion in the beginning and small fluctuations are the main feature for all of them throughout the time period. Till 2030, the energy consumptions from nuclear and solar/wind power are expected to reach 6 and 5 quadrillion respectively, whilst that of hydropower should be stabilised at 4. Overall, the energy consumption in the US is projected to increase for most of these six fuels with petrol and oil always performing the most significant part. 涉及知识点:小作文(看图作文)3.The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.正确答案:There are two figures: the line graph illustrates how the water consumption in three different sectors developed in the 20th century, while the table compares the difference of water use of 2000 in two countries. From the line graph it is clear that the water used in agriculture, industry and household all increased throughout the 20th century. Starting from about 500 km3 in 1900, the agricultural water use went up slowly to above 1000 km3 around 1950; then a steep rise was witnessed hitting 3000 km3 in 2000. For industrial and domestic water use, they both increased minutely till 1950; afterwards, one climbed mildly and the other rose marginally reaching about 300 km3 and 1000 km3 respectively. Water use climbed in different sectors; however, it was consumed off-balanced in different counties. In 2000, the water consumption per person in Brazil with 26,500 km2 irrigated land was as high as 359 m3, compared with only 8m3 in D. R. C, which has just 100 km2 irrigated land. If the water consumption per person is multiplied by the population (176 million and 5.2 million individually), we can find out how great the difference can be. Overall, in the last century worldwide water use kept rising no matter in which domains, while Brazil consumed much more water than Congo in 2000. 涉及知识点:小作文(看图作文)4.The charts below show the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad between 1985 and 1995 and Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.正确答案:The bar chart illustrates the number of Japanese tourists who took international travels and the graph indicates the percentage they accounted for in Australia’s market between 1985 and 1995. Generally speaking, from 1985 to 1995 the number of Japanese tourists increased sharply except a transient dip between 1990 and 1991. It is clear to see that the number in 1995 (over 15 million) was three times that of 1985’s (5 million). It is also worth mentioning that between 1992 and 1993 the rise was very minimal. Similarly, the proportions of Japanese people in Australia’s tourist market also showed an overall growing trend except two falls. The increase was even more evident in the first four years during which the percentage more than doubled from 2% to slightly less than 5%. After one year drop to slightlyover 4%, it resumed the climbing tendency, and finally hit the highest point of over 6% in 1993 before it dipped again in the following year. To conclude, both the numbers of Japanese tourists and the percentages in Australia’s market kept growing, though, with occasional fluctuations. 涉及知识点:小作文(看图作文)。

It also indicates future projections for 2026. According to the data, it seems likely that international tourism will become the dominant industry, although dairy exports will remain strong. In 2006, we can see that tourism was the greatest exports earner of the three industries, with revenue standing at just over $6 billion. This figure has increased slightly, so that now, it has reached almost $7 billion. It is estimated that international tourism will continue to grow, so that by 2026, it will be earning around $8 billion for the country. In 2006, dairy exports were worth around $5 billion, but since then there has been a dramatic increase, and sales for this year are approximately $8 billion. Experts are predicting that exports in this area may fall slightly, so a figure of $7.5 billion is expected for 2026.Meat products are the third key industry in Southland, but sales have dropped since 2006 and now stand at $3.5 billion. One major impact of technology on education is the accessibility of information. With the internet and various digital platforms, students now have access to a vast amount of knowledge at their fingertips. They can easily research and explore different subjects, enhancing their understanding and critical thinking skills.Additionally, technology has made learning more interactive and engaging. Multimedia tools such as videos, simulations, and virtual reality allow students to visualize complex concepts and make learning more enjoyable. This not only increases student motivation but also improves retention and comprehension.Furthermore, technology has facilitated distance learning and online education. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, online classes became the norm, enabling students to continue theireducation remotely. This flexibility in learning has made education more accessible to individuals who may have geographical or physical limitations. However, it is important to acknowledge the potential drawbacks of technology in education. Excessive use of technology can lead to distractions and reduced face-to-face interactions, affecting social skills and emotional development. Moreover, not all students have equal access to technology, creating a digital divide that may exacerbate existing educational inequalities. In conclusion, the impact of technology on education has been profound. 经典雅思作文题目及范文-IELTS
IELTS Writing Sample Answer1.In many countries schools have severe problems with student’s behaviour. What are the causes? What solutions can you suggest?Poor student behaviour seems to be an increasingly widespread problem and I think that modern lifestyles are probably responsible for this.In many countries, the birth rate is decreasing so that families are smaller with fewer children. These children are often spoilt, not in terms of love and attention because working parents do not have the time for this, but in more material ways. They are allowed to have whatever they want, regardless of price, and to behave as they please. This means that the children grow up without consideration for others and without any understanding of where their standard of living comes from. When they get to school age they have not learnt any self control or discipline. They have less respect for their teachers and refuse to obey school rules in the way that their parents did.Teachers continually complain about this problem and measures should be taken to combat the situation. But I think the solution to the problem lies with the families, who need to be more aware of the future consequences of spoiling their children. If they could raise them to be considerate of others and to be social, responsible individuals, the whole community would benefit.Perhaps parenting classes are needed to help them to do this, and high quality nursery school s could be established that would support families more in terms of raising the next generation. The government should fund this kind of parental support, because this is no longer a problem for individual families, but for society as a whole.2.Some people think that it's better for children to go to boarding schools, while others think that they should go to day schools and stay with their parents.Discuss these arguments and express your own opinion. You should write at least 250 words. You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your argumentswith examples and relevant evidence. There has been much disagreement over children's education in recent years. One of the questions under debate is whether children benefit more from boarding schools or from going to day schoolsand staying with their parents after school. This issue is becoming a matter of concern for more and more people, especially for parents with only one child. Those who are against children going to boarding schools argue that such schools are usually much more costly than ordinary day schools. As a result, it tends to be children from rich families who attend them may gradually develop a sense of superiority towards those from other families, while the latter may feel resentful. We also have to take into account the fact that many families cannot afford to send their children to boarding schools. Again, children attending boarding schools have less time to communicate with their parents, which may eventually create a gap between them, and weaken family ties.On the other hand, people who are in favor of children going to boarding schools point out that a boarding school is an ideal place for cultivating children's independence, which they seldom learn from their parents at home. Children who have the experience of going to boarding schools tend to come up with their own solutions to problems they encounter instead of turning to their parents or other people for help. What is more, these children usually show a more cooperative attitude towards others in ca se of team work than the “little emperors” in many one child families. Finally, they are generally more used to competing with others and will find it easier to adapt to modern society, which is full of competition when they grow up.Weighing the pros and cons of these arguments, I am inclined to agree with the latter point of view. For one thing, it seems to me that there is more to education than merely learning from teachers and textbooks. The experience of living with other children and taking care of themselves can give children valuable lessons about how to behave properly, how to overcome difficulties and, most important of all, how to think rationally. I believe that children sometimes learn more from other children than from adults. For another, many parents are too busy with their work to pay enough attention to their children's growth even if their children go to day schools, not to mention the fact that there are still some parents who are not qualified to instruct children and impose more negative influences than positive ones.3.孩子参与有薪水的工作,你的意见?You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.In many countries, children participate in some paid work in their spare time. Some people think this is wrong, but others believe that such work will extend the children's knowledge and increase their sense of responsibility.Discuss both these views and give your opinion. You should write at least 250 words. You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.Sample AnswerIn many countries, these days, there is a growing tendency for children to take paid work, even though they are still receiving education in primary schools. Many people believe that children accumulate useful experience through this kind of work. But others criticize this on the ground that such work interferes with their studies. The first point of view has a lot to recommend it. It is true that children, especially for those of school age, need to participate in some social activities. Work will help them to enlarge their scope of knowledge and accumulate a certain amount of social experience, which is a necessary supplement=addition to the knowledge they gain from school courses. Also, taking part in work of a certain type can help to reinforce children's sense of responsibility. Children will have to be able to handle various unexpected situations in later life. It is beneficial for them to understand their duties in society while they are still at school. As for the money earned from paid work, I am firmly convinced that it is not only useful but also necessary for children to earn extra money. They can decide whether to spend it or save it, thus learning the value of thrift (frugalness). But the most important point is that they earn this money through hard work, and this will help them understand the famous saying “no pains, no gains” better. To sum up, I agree that school children should participate in a certain amount of paid work. Through such work, they can not only earn some extra money but also acquire the necessary knowledge and experience which will be especially useful when they enter society as grown-ups.4.You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Who should be most responsible for children's education?Give your opinion and reasons for it.You should write at least 250 words. You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your argumentswith examples and relevant evidence.Sample AnswerIt seems to me that there is a clear-cut answer to this question. Although in the early years of a child's life parents are the principal educators, that role is soon assumed very largely by the child'steachers. Even elder brothers and sisters, who may give good advice, can never take the place of teachers in molding a child's mind.First and foremost, teachers know best in terms of education. They are professional educators, and as such they are better equipped with expertise in teaching. It is in schools, too, that children make friends and learn how to act in a socially responsible manner. Teachers know best how to organize, motivate and discipline their students. Furthermore, as children spend most of their time in schools, teachers have more influence on them than their parents do.Parents, on the other hand, are mostly either too busy to spend time with their children, or are ignorant of the right way to educate them. This is not to say that parents can shirk (refuse to take) their responsibility for educating their children. Parenting is an important factor that shapes competency and character formation in children. Failure to take such responsibility constitutes delinquency as parents.Nevertheless, given the professional qualifications of teachers and the time they spend with their students, it is clear that the overwhelming burden of educating children falls upon the shoulders of teachers.5Computers are widely used in education, and some people think teacher will not play an important role in the classroom. 。

雅思写作剑14范文题目:Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations. Discuss both these views andgive your own opinion. In life, we all face situations that are less than ideal, like having a job that makes us want to pull our hair out or not having enough cash to do the things we really want. There are two main ways people think about dealing with these not so great situations. Some folks firmly believe in just accepting the bad situation. They might think that life is full of hardships, and this is just the way the cookie crumbles. For example, if someone has a job that they don't enjoybut it pays the bills, they might say, "Well, at least I have a job. There are so many people out there who are unemployed." They might also feel that trying to change things could make the situation even worse. It's likethey're in a leaky boat, and they're afraid that any rocking of the boat to fix the leak might just sink it completely. On the other hand, there are those who are more of the "fight back against bad situations" type. They figure that if they don't like something, they should do something about it. Take the money situation. If someone is short on money, instead of just moaning about it, they might look for waysto earn extra income. Maybe they'll start a small side business selling homemade crafts on the internet or offer tutoring services. They believethat by taking action, they have the potential to turn things around and create a better life for themselves. In my opinion, I'm more on the side of trying to improve the situation.I mean, just sitting around and accepting a bad job or being broke all the time seems kind of defeatist. Sure, there are risks involved in trying to change things. But what's life without a little risk? It's like we're given this big, messy puzzle called life, and if we don't at least try to put the pieces together in a better way, we'll always be looking at a half finished, ugly picture. So, while it's understandable that some people are afraid to make changes, I think we should all strive to make our situations better whenever possible.题目:Some people say that the main environmental problem of our timeis the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. When we talk about environmental problems nowadays, it's like we're ina big, chaotic mess of issues. Some people are really hung up on the idea that the loss of certain plants and animals is the number one environmental headache we've got. Those who think the loss of particular species is the main problem have a point. Think about it. Every living thing on this planet is like a little cog in a huge, complicated machine. If we start losing species, it's like pulling out cogs from that machine willy nilly. For example, bees are super important. If bees die off, then a whole bunch of plants won't get pollinated, and that means less food for us and other animals. It's like a domino effect. And some animals are just plain amazing and unique. Losing them would be like losing a precious part of our natural heritage. It would be like tearing pages out of the world's most beautiful storybook. However, there are others who reckon there are more pressing environmental problems. And they're not wrong either. Climate change, for instance, is like a big, angry monster breathing down our necks. Rising sea levels could flood whole cities, and extreme weather events are becoming more and more common. Pollution is another huge issue. The air in some big cities is so dirty that it's like breathing in a cloud of poison. And our oceans are filling up with plastic junk, which is bad news for all the sea creatures. In my view, it's really hard to say which problem is the most important. They're all connected, like a big, tangled ball of string. But if I had to pick, I'd say climate change is probably the most critical. Because it has such far reaching effects. It affects not just plants and animals but also our own way of life. It could make large parts of the planet uninhabitablein the future. But that doesn't mean we should forget about saving species. We need to tackle all these environmental problems together, like a team of superheroes fighting against different villains.题目:Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Well, when it comes to whether we have too many choices these days,it's a bit of a tricky question. On one hand, there are people who think we've got way too many choices, and I can see where they're coming from. Just think about going to the supermarket. There are aisles and aisles of different products. There are like a million types of cereal alone. It's like trying to find a needle ina haystack when you're just looking for a simple breakfast option. And when it comes to technology, there are so many different smartphones and tablets to choose from. Each one has a bunch of different features and specs, andit can be really confusing. It's like being in a maze and not knowing which path to take. Also, having too many choices can sometimes lead to decision making paralysis. People can get so worried about making the wrong choice that they end up not making a choice at all. For example, if someone is trying to choose a career, there are so many different fields and job types available now. It can be really overwhelming, and some people might just stay in a job they don't like because they're afraid of choosing the wrong new career. On the other hand, having a lot of choices can also be a good thing. It means that we have more opportunities to find something that really suits us. If there are lots of different restaurants in town, we're more likely to find the perfect place to have a great meal. And in the job market, having a wide range of options means that people can potentially find a job that they're really passionate about. In my opinion, I think we do have a lot of choices, and sometimes it can be a bit much. But overall, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. It's like having a big box of chocolates. There are a lot of different flavors, and it might be hard to decide which one to pick, but in the end, it's nice to have the option. However, we could probably do with a bit more guidance in some areas, like career choices. Maybe schools and colleges could offer more help in sorting through all the options so that peopledon't feel so lost.题目:Some people think that the best way to be successful in life is to get a university education. Others disagree and say that now there are many successful people who did not complete their university education. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. When we start talking about the road to success in life, the idea of getting a university education is like a big, shiny signpost for some people. But for others, they're looking at all those successful folks who didn't even finish college and thinking that there are other paths to the top.Let's look at the people who believe that a university education is the best bet for success. A university is like a knowledge factory. You go in there, and you come out loaded with all kinds of useful information. For example, if you want to be a doctor or a lawyer, a university degree is pretty much a must have. It gives you the theoretical knowledge and the professional training that you need to practice in those fields. And having a university degree can also open doors in the job market. Employers often see it as a sign that you're smart, hard working, and able to complete a long term task. It's like having a golden ticket that gives you access to better paying jobs and more career opportunities. However, there are those who point to all the successful people who didn't complete their university education. Take Steve Jobs, for instance. He dropped out of college but still managed to create one of the most successful tech companies in the world. There are also many successful entrepreneurs in the fashion, music, and art industries who didn't need a university degree to make it big. These people often learn on the job, through trial and error, and they have a natural talent and drive that takes them to the top. They might say that real world experience is worth more than a piece of paper from a university. In my own view, I think both sides have a point. A university education can be really helpful in achieving success, especially in certain professions. But it's not the only way. Success is like a big, multi colored mountain, and there are different paths you can take to climb it.If you have a passion for something that doesn't necessarily require a university degree, like starting your own business in a creative field, then you can go for it without a degree. But if you want to enter a more traditional, knowledge based profession, then a university education is probably a good idea. So, it really depends on what you want to do in life and what your natural abilities are.。

The pie chart shows how electricity is used in an average English home.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words.参考范文1:The given graphs show the electricity demand in England in a typical day of winter and summer and also show how people used this electricity. According to the first line graph, we can see that, the electricity demand in winter is much higher than the demand in summer in England. In a typical day the electricity demand in winter season is around 35000 units and it is around 18000 units in summer season. Again the demand of the electricity varies on several hours of the day and the demand from 6:00 to 9:00 am is lesser than the demand in other hours of the day.During the winter the demand is highest from 21:00 to 23:00 and during summer the demand is highest from 13:00 to 14:00 hours.Based on the pie chart we can infer that, the room heating and water heating is the main purpose people consume the electricity in England. The demand for washing machine, kettle and ovens consumes around 18% of total electricity consumed and two other categories consume 15% electricity each. These two other categories which consume 30% of total electricity include light, TV, Radio, vacuum cleaner, food mixer and other electric told and devices.参考范文2:The information given by the line chart is about electricity demand in England in a typical winter and summer day. The pie chart compares how the electricity is used in an ordinary English household.According to the two-line chart, the demand for electricity in winter is constantly higher than that in summer. Precisely, the demand drops from 40,000 units at 3.00 to the bottom at 20,000 units at 8.00 before it soars to the highest point at 45,000 units at about 22.00. It is followed by a sharp increase to nearly 35,000 units at 24.00. In contrast, the time period between 0.00 and 9.00 witnesses a gentle decrease in the demand for electricity in summer, which is followed by a rise to the peak at 20,000 units, 25,000 units less than that in winter. As for the pie chart, the purpose of electricity use involves four parts. Heating rooms and water occupies the largest percentage (52.5%). The second largest component is ovens, kettles and washing machines which is 35% lower than the former one. It is followed by lighting, TV, radio and vacuum cleaners, food mixers, electric tools which represents 15% respectively.Overall, there is an apparent difference in the demand for electricity in winter and summer. The electricity distribution for different purpose is also various.参考范文3:The graph above illustrates the typical daily demanding amount of electricity in England in summer and winter, while the pie chart reveals the specific various ways of using electricity in every family of Britain in average.Firstly, for the graph, the demanding units of electricity in winter always almost double that in summer through all the daytime. During the first 9hours, the units of electricity in summer decline steadily, while the winter figure fluctuates from approximately 40000 to 30000. After that, bath figures rise almost with a same extent from 9.00 to about 15.00after which the data of summer just varies in a very small range. However, the units of electricity in winter continue increasing to a peak of approximately 45000 at 21 o’clock after which there is a dramatic decrease. In terms of the pie chart, more than half of the demanding for electricity is occupied by heating rooms and water, while the amount of electricity used in ovens, kettles or washing machines is just one third of the heating figure. However, lighting, TV, radio and vacuum cleaners, food mixers, electric tools both have the same data which is the smallest proportion in the pie chart. Overall, typical daily demand for electricity varies from that in summer, while the percentages of different ways of using electricity are also various.Writing Task 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Happiness is considered very important in life. Why is it difficult to define? What factors are important in achieving happiness?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.参考范文1:A job provides the worker with the necessary means to remain satisfied in almost every aspect of life such as leisure, health, and social life. Consequently, finding a satisfying and motivating job is essential for improving an individual’s overall quality of life, and several key factors are thought to be critical for an employee to achieve job satisfaction.A reasonable salary is of course the most likely contributor to job satisfaction. In many people’s minds, an ideal job is first of all a well-paid one, which makes the employee feel that he is fairly rewarded for what he has done for the company. Another important element of job satisfaction is the nature of the job itself. Job satisfaction can never be achieved if the work is boring, or if the work is ill-suited to the employee’s education, skills and interests. Finally, job satisfaction is closely associated with being part of the decision-making process in the company as well as having opportunities for promotion. However, it is very difficult for a company to ensure that all its employees are satisfied with their job. The main reason is that different people have different definitions of job satisfaction. Some people may care salary more than opportunities for promotion. Others may never tolerate a boring task. Also, in the wild chase for quicker and higher profits, ensuring workers’ job satisfaction has become only a secondary or even non-existent goal for many employers. In conclusion, increasing workers’ job satisfaction can be a challenge for an employer, but for an individual employee, finding the right job and trying to stay positive might be the first step towards achieving job fulfillment and satisfaction.参考范文2:Happiness is very difficult to define, because it means so many different things to different people. While some people link happiness to wealth and material success, others think it lies in emotions and loving personal relationships. Yet others think that spiritual paths, rather than either the material world or relationships with people, are the only way to true happiness.Because people interpret happiness for themselves in so many different ways, it is difficult to give any definition that is true for everyone. However, if there are different kinds of happiness for different individuals then the first step in achieving it would be to have a degree of self-knowledge.A person needs to know who he or she is before being able to know what it is that makes him or her happy.Of course, factors such as loving relationships, good health, the skills to earn a living and a peaceful environment all contribute to our happiness too. But this does not mean that people without these conditions cannot be happy.Overall, I think an ability to keep clear perspectives in life is a more essential factor in achieving happiness. By that I mean an ability to have a clear sense of what is important in our lives (the welfare of our families, the quality of our relationships, making other people happy, etc.) and what is not (a problem at work, getting annoyed about trivial things, etc.).Like self-awareness, this is also very difficult to achieve, but I think these are the two factors that may be the most important for achieving happiness.参考范文3(9分):It is no doubt true that the majority of people would like to be happy in their lives. While the personal nature of happiness makes it difficult to describe, there do seem to be some common needs that we all share with regard to experiencing or achieving happiness.Happiness is difficult to define because it means something different to each individual person. Nobody can fully understand or experience another person’s feelings, and we all have our own particular passions from which we take pleasure. Some people, for example, derive a sense of satisfaction from earning money or achieving success, whereas for others, health and family are much more important. At the same time, a range of other feelings, from excitement to peacefulness, may be associated with the idea of happiness, and the same person may therefore feel happy in a variety of different ways.Although it seems almost impossible to give a precise definition of happiness, most people would agree that there are some basic preconditions to achieving it. Firstly, it is hard for a person to be happy if he or she does not have a safe place to live and enough food to eat. Our basic survival needs must surely be met before we can lead a pleasant life. Secondly, the greatest joy in life is usually found in shared experiences with family and friends, and it is rare to find a person who is content to live in complete isolation. Other key factors could be individual freedom and a sense of purpose in life.In conclusion, happiness is difficult to define because it is particular to each individual, but I believe that our basic needs for shelter, food and company need to be fulfilled before we can experience it.。

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.正确答案:With communication technology constantly developing, working from home has become a reality for many workers, which some would argue only benefits employees. However, I disagree with this argument for several reasons. Keeping office overheads down is a key benefit to having staff work from home. For instance, the cost of paying rent or even a mortgage on office space so that each staff member can have their own office space can be saved when employees work from home. Likewise, the day to day running costs of an office, such as power, water and phone costs can all be kept to a minimum when staff are based at home.Maintaining low staff stress levels is the key to increasing productivity in the workplace, and working from home has been proven to increase or maintain worker productivity while facilitating higher levels of happiness. This is due to the fact that employees feel trusted with the responsibility of managing their own time and tasks without the need for a supervisor monitoring their performance. This, coupled with the increased flexibility that those who work from home can have for activities such as picking up children, walking the dog or going to the gym, all contributes to worker wellbeing and satisfaction. There is also evidence to suggest that allowing employees to work from home actually helps employers to retain staff, which is a definite advantage. Provided with the flexibility of working from home, staff remain loyal and committed to the company and the company retains their knowledge and experience which are valuable aspects of any organization’s human resource. To sum up, I disagree with the idea that working from home represents a drawback for employers, for the reasons stated above.。

The bar chart shows the number of social networking sites visited by internet users in Canada in 2014 and in 2015. We can see from the data that, in general, there was a growing tendency to use more than one site. Although just over one fifth of internet users did not use any social networking sites in either of the years, the proportion in this category decreased from 22 percent in 2014 to 21 percent in 2015. In both years the highest proportion of users in any group fell into the ‘One site’ category. However, this group declined sharply from 36 percent in 2014 to 28 percent in 2015. In contrast, the numbers who reported using two sites, three sites, four sites and five sites all grew over the period analysed. Academic writing: Task 2Topic: UpbringingYou should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Children who are brought up in families that do not have large amounts ofmoney are better prepared to deal with the problems of adult life than childrenbrought up by wealthy parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.I do agree to the statement that …children brought up in poor families are better prepared to deal with the problems of adult life than children brought up by wealthy parents‟.Children of poor parents are prematurely exposed to the problems of adult life eg. Learning to survive on a low family income and sacrificing luxuries for essential items. These children begin to see the …realities‟ of life in their home or social environment. Their parents‟ own struggles serve as an example to them. These children are taught necessary skills for survival as an adult from a very early age. Many children eg work in the weekends or holidays to either collect some pocket money or even contribute to their families‟ income. A good example is that many children who accompany their parents to sell produce at the market. They are working a direct contribution to their families in terms of labor or income.Children of poor families also are highly motivated. They tend to …set high goals to improve their economic and social situation. A relevant example would be Mr. Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft Corporation) He had an impoverished background but he used his talents and motivation to set up the world‟s largest computer organization. However, there are some problems that children from poor backgrounds do encounter. Many of these children who are “robbed” of their childhood eg whle working may feel cheated. They often turn to crime. This however, is a small group. In summing up, children with impoverished backgrounds are able to deal with problems of adult life because of early exposure, family role models and shear motivation.Examiner comments (bandscore 8)The topic is very well addressed and the position is clear throughout. Main ideas are presented and well supported, apart from some over-generalisation in the penultimate paragraph. The rubric is copied in the opening paragraph, but when this is deducted from the overall word count, the response is not underlength. The ideas and information are very well organized and paragraphing is used appropriately throughout. The answer can be read with ease due to the sophisticated handling of cohesive devices—only the lack of an appropriate introduction and the minor error in the second use of …eg‟ mars this aspect of response. The writer uses a wide and very natural range of vocabulary with full flexibility. There are many examples of appropriate modification, collocation and precise vocabulary choice. Syntax is equally varied and sophisticated. There are only occasional errors in an otherwise very accurate answer.Overall this performance is a good example of Band 8.。

The diagram below shows how potato chips are made. Summaries the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.正确答案:The diagram demonstrates the process of converting potatoes into potato chips. First of all, when a batch of potatoes arrives at the manufacturing plant, they are examined by hand for quality before being washed in cold water. The potatoes are then sent to a peeling machine to remove their skins and eliminate potato peels and starch. Then, the peeled potatoes are transported to a bucket conveyor, which moves them one by one into a slicing machine, after which the slices are distributed on another conveyor belt and air dried as they move along into the deep fryer. The chips are then cooked in the deep fryer and, after the completion of this process, they are salted and transported by a flat belt conveyor to the bag packer machine, which feeds chips into each bag. Alternatively, if the chips are to be packaged in a can, a different machine is used. In summary, potatoes are washed, peeled, sliced and fried in order to produce potato chips.WRITING TASK 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.2.You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic: More and more prisons are being built to house the world’s criminals and many people believe long-term imprisonment is the answer to solving the crime problem. However, others feel that medical and psychological assistance is what is required. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.正确答案:Imprisonment has long been the most popular form of punishment for criminals in society, but many believe also that rehabilitation should take the form of psychological and medical treatment. Those in favor of long term imprisonment argue that criminals are not fit to live alongside normal members of society. The obvious reason for this is that they represent a danger to others’ personal safety and it is tree that society would not tolerate violent criminals living in its midst. The thinking behind imprisonment is to take away prisoners’ rights to individual freedom: this is their punishment. In addition, it is thought that prisoners use their time in prison to reflect on and consider their illegal behavior, hopefully regretting andfeeling remorseful about their crimes. However, some people argue that prisons are not the best place for all criminals. Advocates for psychological rehabilitation believe that therapy and medication may be a better alternative to imprisonment for some offenders. Psychological therapy may address the root causes of the criminal behavior and offer strategies and possibilities for change in the future. This approach may be more successful in preventing re-offending in the long run because it does not assume the same solution (that is, prison) works for all. On the whole, I believe prison definitely has its place as a form of pun is honest, as no one would wish to live in fear of violent crime and criminals need to be removed from society for this reason. However, I think a combined approach which has a strong focus on psychological treatment is essential in addressing the core causes of crime, as prison alone offers no hope for future change and eventually, almost all criminals are released back into society.。
