When gradually more international purchasers become his patrons, he would no longer treat them differently. But to my disappointment, she was actually referring to my E nglish skills. “I’ve never met any Chinese student who can talk and write like you do,” Shesaid, “You must have been stayed in the States for some time, haven’t you?” It does seem that even a specialist in linguistics can’t escape the illusion built up by the last generation of Chinese students: gauche and diffident, unable to articulate themselves in English.Nevertheless, such stereotypes are becoming a thing of the past. When professors around the globe meet with an increasing number of students from China with both language proficiency and academic competence, well-qualified students will no longer be a surprise. Moreover, with more people going abroad and enjoying firsthand encounters with different cultures, people like my grandma will no longer be subject to the fossilized, antiquated narrative of the past. The interesting thing is, after I told my grandma my experiences in Japan, how clean, safe and beautiful their cities are and how nice, polite and considerate their people are, she gladly removed Japan from the list of least-want-to-visit foreign countries and put it instead to the most-want-to-visit one.Even the shop owner near my campus is now repenting for his peccadillo. When gradually more international purchasers become his patrons, he would no longer treat them differently. And he would even occasionally call out for them, yelling “come, come,” “cheap, cheap,” “thanks thanks” with a very strong Chinese accent. Meanwhile, my Scottish professor has now equipped himself with Wechat and Alipay, assimilating seamlessly into the local life here.The old era is like a cocoon, protecting us from possible dangers outside and providing us with warmth and comfort. So in the past, only we, Chinese people protect and pass on Chinese culture; but now, the international scholars, professors or even just ordinary people all over the world who get interested in our culture are preserving it. The uniqueness not well-protected by us transforms into the diversity universally-respected by global citizens. It is because of globalization that China and its culture are truly on a global stage.So globalization is actually an on-going process that keeps surprising us while startling those worries and fears. Written by Tian Chu Qi Good morning,everyone!I’m very glad to give you this speech.Today ’s topic is China.Then I want to say something about us-Chinese students,Chinese teachers and Chinese schools.In total,today,my topic is Chinese education that many people call examination oriented education.
So,what’s the difference between Chinese education and foreign education? Such as class size,teaching method,exercise and exam,they are all different.But I think the biggest one is the educational idea.The West pay more attention to cultivating the kid’s individuality .But in china,the kids are gowning in the high pressure environment.Because of that ,many people query Chinese education. Under these circumstances,I want to clarify a few things.
Firstly,in China,cooperation is more important than personality.Many people think there are too many students in China in one class.But I want to say,China is a big country.It’s not only in location,but also in population.The education pressure of Chinese government can’t be compared with the West’s.So,as a Chinese student,devoting yourself to study group is most important.It doesn’t mean you can’t have
your own things,but let you integrate into the collective and find the right place for yourself to show your abilities.
Secondly,the fair competition of college entrance examination system will give the students who are going to enter the society a best lesson.Many people think the students’competition in China is too cruel.The students are too young and the pressure is too heavy.But integrating into the work environment,also needs compressive capacity.And this can’t get free when we reach a certain age,but developing in the high pressure environment.The college entrance examination may be cruel,but at least it’s fair.You may feel tired or stressed,but at least you have hope to change destiny by knowledge.so,face it and adapt to it.
The last but not the least,now,China isn’t strong enough,so the students must make more efforts to achieve the Chinese Dream.The international competition of a new generation depends on the teenagers of different countries.The future is ours and its also our country’s.The sweat of effort will be the best nourishment to irrigate our motherland.
