近年来，随着现代科技的发展，越来越多/各种各样的书籍可供人们选择阅读。众所周知，阅读在我们的生活中起了极其重要的作用。但到底是应该有选择性地阅读还是广泛地阅读，每个人都有自己的看法。

有些人认为我们应当有选择地读书。他们的观点有充分地理由支持。一方面，并非所有的书籍对我们有益。例如，有些色情书刊对我们的思想有害，因此我们应该只选择阅读那些对我们有用、有帮助的书籍。另一方面，我们可以选择那些我们感兴趣、能够满足我们需求的书籍。然而，其他人持不同观点。他们提供以下几个原因。在他们看来，广泛阅读对人们的生活和工作产生很大的影响，理由是面临着日益激烈的竞争，阅读各种各样的书籍能够提升一个人的综合素质并能增加一个人成功的机会。而且，作为一名大学生，一个人所学得知识不应该只限于专业方面或是学科方面。

在我看来，我们应该既有选择地阅读又广泛地阅读。毫无疑问，我们应该选择阅读那些能促进我们思想健康发展的有益书籍。同时，我们也应该重视广泛阅读。正如著名的谚语所说，读书使人充实。只有博览群书我们才能在很大程度上拓宽我们的视野，并且为将

来打下坚实的基础。

In recent years, with the development of modern science and technology, more and more books [a mixed bag of books] are available for people to read. [As is known to all, …]// It is commonly recognized/accepted that reading plays an extremely important role in our life. But should we read selectively or extensively? People’s views on reading vary from person to person.

Some people hold that we should read selectively.//hold the opinion of reading selectively. Their views are supported by sound reasons. For one thing, not all books are conducive /beneficial to us. For instance, some pornographic books are poisonous/ harmful to our mind so we should choose only those that are useful and helpful. For another, we can select books which can absorb our interest [which we are interested in] and satisfy our needs. However, others think differently for the following reasons. From their perspective, extensive reading makes a great difference to people’s life and career on the grounds that reading a wide variety of books can promote one’s comprehensive quality and increase one’s chance of achieving success when one faces the increasingly fierce competition. Moreover, as a college student, the knowledge one acquires should not be confined to one’s major or one’s study subjects.

From my point of view, we should read both selectively and extensively. There is no denying that we should select good and helpful books to read for the healthy development of our mind. Meanwhile, we should also attach great importance to extensive reading. As the famous proverb goes, reading makes a full man. Only in this way can we expand our scope of knowledge to a great extent and lay a solid foundation for our future.
