Should We Give a Hand to the Strangers in Need of Help?

As is vividly shown in the picture, an old woman has fallen down and shouted for help, but the woman standing beside warned the young man not to offer help so as to avoid being blackmaile d by the elderly. This drawing mirrors a common social phenomenon which has aroused concerns.

The frequent occurrence of blackmail after a passer-by has offered help has discouraged people from doing good deeds. It is sad to see that giving a hand to the strangers has become increasingly risky. Indifference to needed people will lead to moral decline of the whole society. If we should always be passers-by, people in

desperate need would even lose their lives.

As far as I am concerned, I won’t turn a blind eye to those needed strangers since it is a glorious tradition of our nation to be ready to help others. Meanwhile, I will protect myself and offer help in an appropriate way. Only when I have a ready mind to help others can I expect to be helped when I am in need.

On the Study of Chinese Traditional Culture

Since English is considered as a means of promoting commerce and world communication, people have put English as the top priority and ignored the importance of Chinese traditional culture. Just like what you can see in the picture above, students are bound up in learning English in Guoxue class.

People,however,differ in opinions on this matter.Some people hold the idea that the prominence of English study should be reduced significantly, and students should spend balanced time on each subject. Meanwhile, some people think it is unnecessary to learn Chinese traditional culture since they’re out-of-date in this modern society.

As to me, I strongly recommend students limit their time in learning English and attach more importance to our Chinese traditional culture. Chinese is our mother tongue and it carries with it not only the cultural significance of our nation, but also a sense of mission and pride.
