E-mail is one of the biggest threats to your home computer. By understanding how E-mail works, and by taking some steps in how you deal with reading and writing messages, you can keep this threat out of your computer. When you exchange E-mail with someone else, the messages sent between you and that person pass through several computers before they reach their places. Imagine this conversation as it is taking place in an Internet "room",a very, very big room. Anyone,or more exactly, any program can probably understand what is being said, because most Internet conversations are not hidden in any way. As a result, others may be listening in,capturing what you send, and using it for their own good.E-mail-borne viruses (病毒) often arrive in attractive, fantastic appearances, much like the beautiful ads we receive by way of traditional mail that is made to sell us something. By beautiful appearances,an infected (感染) E-mail message seems to be something we want to read from someone we know, not a mean virus ready to destroy or damage our computers. There are some steps that you can take to help you decide what to do with every E-mail message with an attachment (附件) that you receive. You should only read a message that passes all of these tests:1) The Know Test: Is the E-mail from someone that you know?2) The Received Test: Have you received E-mail from this sender before?3) The Expect Test: Were you waiting for E-mail with an attachment from this sender?4) The Meaning Test: Do the topic line of the E-mail message and the name of the attachment both have meanings?5) The Virus Test: Is the E-mail infected?(1)、The main idea of the first paragraph is that we should learn how E-mail works to take care of our computers. AA:TB:F(2)、The underlined word "capturing" probably mean "Taking". AA:TB:F(3)、As the Internet is open to anyone,we should not read and write messages in our home computers. BA:TB:F(4)、The passage is mainly talking about The Safety of Home Computers. AA:TB:F(5)、E-mail-borne viruses can infect human body. BA:TB:F2、My secret for staying young is simple. Put all attention to the part of your brain and keep it young and growing. Keep your mind awake and you'll stay young all over. These are exciting times. Take an interest in the world around you, and stick to learning at least one new thing every day. No matter how old you are, it's not too late to make your life more interesting. I know a housewife with no knowledge before she made herself into a well-known engineer. I know a retired electrical engineer who has become a highly-paid dress designer. Get over the idea that you are too old to go back to school. I know a man who entered medical college at 70. He got his degree with honours and became a famous doctor. Another man went to law school at 71 and now was an active lawyer. Staying young is easy for those, old or young, who live in the future. You can do it if you care enough to try. Keep your mind awake and active: that's the only way.(6)、According to the passage, that people's brain of all ages remains young and growing is__B__. A:impossibleB:a scientific factC:a secretD:a wrong conclusion(7)、It is wrong for the old to___A___.A:think himself too old to go back to schoolB:keep his mind awakeC:try to stay youngD:lead an active life(8)、The passage says that the man who entered college at 70 ___D____.A:was unthinkableB:became tired of his lifeC:wanted to be a highly-paid manD:became famous in the medical circle(9)、The only way to keep young is__D____.A:to go back to schoolB:not to consider one's ageC:to live in the futureD:to keep one's mind awake and alive(10)、The writer suggests that you should __C___learning at least one new thing every day.A:take care ofB:set outC:keep onD:turn to3、When I begin to look back on all friends whom I have had, I quickly came to the conclusion that Jerry was the most important and had the greatest effect upon my life. His family moved to my block when I was only 10. Jerry was 15 at the time, but the fact that he was so much older than me seemed to make no difference to him. I was very glad that he liked me. We took long walks together, on which he would tell me stories he had heard form TV and radio programs. But as months went by, a change came into our friendship. Jerry almost stopped coming by the house, and every time I went to his house or telephoned, he put me off with some excuses such as "I'm studying now" or "I've got some jobs to do for Mum". When we passed on the street, he would still give me a warm smile and friendly wave with a "Hi, kid", but he would hardly ever stop to talk. Finally I realized that he was no longer interested in me and that his taste had changed. I noticed him with a girl once in a while and several times saw him going out in his family's car on a Friday or Saturday night. I simply couldn't understand what was so great about girls and parties. But I was hurt when he finally made me know that our friendship was at an end. Of course he didn't really mean to hurt me, but it was a long time before I realized that it was an age problem that caused the break. There were a world of differences between the ideas and interests of a 17-year-old and a 12-year-old. Now that I'm over sixteen myself, I realized this, and the hurt I got then has become happy memories of the good times we were once together. I wonder if millions of other boys and girls have had a similar experience.(11)、When the writer and Jerry first met, Jerry was ___B___. A:10 years oldB:5 years older than the writerC:of the same age as the writerD:the writer's classmate(12)、Their friendship lasted for __C____.A:a few yearsB:a few weeksC:a few monthsD:a few hours(13)、Jerry stopped playing with the writer because __D____.A:the writer had changedB:he was busy with his studyC:he has some jobs to doD:he was not interested in the writer(14)、When a change came in their friendship, the writer __B____. A:accepted it at onceB:couldn't understand his friend for a long timeC:stopped visiting his friendD:started going to parties with girls(15)、The main idea of the passage is that __A____.A:the age difference plays a part in friendshipB:friendship is the most important thing for childrenC:many boys and girls have a similar experience as the writer D:"friends are made in wine and tested in tears"三、词汇与语法(10%)1、____D_____her and then try to copy what she does.A:MindB:SeeC:Stare at2、Don't ____D____ your study. Young men will never again go to war as they did in 1914. Millions of people now have seen the effects of a battle. And the result has been a gener al dislike of war, and perhaps more interest in helping those who s uffer from all the terrible things that have been shown on the scree n.Television has also changed politics. The most distant areas can no w follow state affairs, see and hear the politicians before an election. Better informed, people are more likely to vote, and so to make their opinion count.Unfortunately, television’s influence has been extremely harmful to the young. Children do not have enough experience to realize that TV shows present an unreal world; that TV advertisements lie to sell products that are sometimes bad or useless. They believe that the violence they see is normal and acceptable. All educators agree that the “television generations”are more violent than their parents a nd grandparents. Also, the young are less patient. Used to TV shows, where everythin g is quick and interesting, they do not have the patience to read a n article without pictures; to read a book that requires thinking; to listen to a teacher who doesn’t do funny things like the people on children’s programs. And they expect all problems to be solved h appily in ten, fifteen, or thirty minutes. TV has a deep influence on the youngPassage 2Nonverbal (非语言的) communication has to do with gestures, movements and closeness of two people when they are talking. The scientists say that those gestures, movements and so on have meaning which words do not carry. For example, the body distance between two speakers can be important. North Americans often complain that South Americans are unfriendly because they tend to stand close to the North American when speaking, while the South American often considers the North American to be “cold” or “distant” because he keeps a greater dis tance between himself and the person he is speaking to . The “eye contact” provides another example of what we are calling nonverbal communication. Scientists have observed that there is more eye contact between people who like each other than there is bet ween people who don’t like each other. The length of time that the person whom you are speaking to looks at your eyes indicates the amount of interest he has in the things you are talking about. On the other hand, too long a gaze can make people uncomfortable. The eyes apparently play a great part in nonverbal communication. Genuine warmth or interest, shyness or confidence can often be seen in the eyes. Young men will never again go to war as theydid in 1914. Millions of people now have seen the effects of a battle. And the result has been a general dislike of war, and perhaps more interest in helping those who suffer from all the terrible things that have been shown on the screen.Television has also changed politics. The most distant areas can now follow state affairs, see and hear the politicians before an election. All educators agree that the “television generations” are more violent than their parents and grandparents. Also, the young are less patient. Used to TV shows, where everything is quick and interesting, they do not have the patience to read an article without pictures; to read a book that requires thinking; to listen to a teacher who doesn’t do funny things like the people on children’s programs. And they expect all problems to be solved happily in ten, fifteen, or thirty minutes. That’s the time it takes on the screen.11. In the past, many young people ______.A. knew the effects of warB. went in for politicsC. liked to save the wounded in warsD. were willing to be soldiers12. Now with TV people can _____.A. discuss politics at an information centerB. show more interest in politicsC. make their own decisions on political affairsD. express their opinions freely13. The author thinks that TV advertisements _____.A. are not reliable on the wholeB. are useless to peopleC. are a good guide to adultsD. are very harmful to the young14. Which is NOT true according to the passage?A. People have become used to crimes now.B. With a TV set some problems can be solved quickly.C. People now like to read books with pictures.D. The adults are less violent than the young.15. From the passage, we can conclude that _____.A. children should keep away from TV programs should be improvedC. children’s books should have picturesD. TV has a deep influence on the youngPassage 2Nonverbal (非语言的) communication has to do with gestures, movements and closeness of two people when they are talking. The scientists say that those gestures, movements and so on have meaning which words do not carry. For example, the body distance between two speakers can be important. North Americans often complain that South Americans are unfriendly because they tend to stand close to the North American when speaking, while the South American often considers the North American to be “cold” or “distant” because he keeps a greater distance between himself and the person he i s speaking to . The “eye contact” provides another example of what we are calling nonverbal communication. Scientists have observed that there is more eye contact between people who like each other than there is between people who don’t like each other. Th e length of time that the person whom you are speaking to looks at your eyes indicates the amount of interest he has in the things you are talking about. On the other hand, too long a gaze can make people uncomfortable. The eyes apparently play a great part in nonverbal communication. Genuine warmth or interest, shyness or confidence can often be seen in the eyes. We do not always consider a smile to be a sign of friendliness. Someone who is always smiling, and with little apparent reasons, often makes us uneasy.16. According to the passage, nonverbal communication _____.A. is a method often used by people who cannot speakB. can tell something that words cannotC. can be used to talk with people who cannot bearD. is less used than words17. The South American _____.A. tends to keep a distance between himself and the person he is speaking toB. usually stands close to the person he is talking toC. is often unfriendly when spoken toD. is often cold and distant when speaking18. Which of the following is NOT true?A. Less eye contact suggests distance in relation.B. The longer one looks at you, the more interest he has in you.C. There is more eye contact between people who like each other.D. Shorter eye contact shows more interest in what one is talking about.19. Too long a gaze _____.A. may upset people being looked atB. shows one’s great confidenceC. indicates one’s interest in the talkD. tells you how friendly one is20. Constant smiling without apparent reason _____.A. is a sign of one’s friendlinessB. is a sign of one’s unfriendlinessC. makes people feel happyD. makes people feel uncomfortablePassage 3My husband had just bought a new washing machine for me. The Swedes are among the most charming peoples in Europe. And their charm comes from an apparent contradiction in the national character. They are extremely conservative in social relationships; within the family and when meeting friends and business acquaintances, their conduct is governed by strict social patterns. At the same time, they are one of the most intellectually progressive people in the world. They are always open to new ideas. All social occasions in Sweden are regulated by rules and traditions. And these traditions are expressed in a specific ritual (仪式) made up of formal bows, handshakes, and greetings. When a visitor enters a Swedish home, he is invariably received with a "Welcome"; when he leaves, his host will tell him "You will be welcome again". These charming phrases are an indestructible part of Swedish social life and they give it an old-world flavor of good manners.Equally attractive is the Swedish acceptance of modern technological equipment. A traveller never needs to search for a telephone in Sweden: telephone booths are placed at regular intervals along the main streets and highways. And in church, for example, long benches are fitted with hearing aids for worshippers who may be hard of hearing. Swedish homes are among the best equipped in the world and travellers in Sweden find their journeys made easy by the use of the most efficient modern devices.B11. Reading ComprehensionPassage OneThere are three kinds of goals: short-term, medium-range and long-term goals.Short-term goals are those that usually deal with current activities, which we can apply on a daily basis. Such goals can be achieved in a week or less, or two weeks, or possibly, months. It should be remembered that just as a building is no stronger than its foundation, long-term goals cannot amount to very much without the achievement of solid short-term goals. Upon completing our short-term goals, we should date the occasion and then add new short-term goals that will build on those that have been completed. The intermediate goals build on the foundation of the short-term goals. They might deal with just one term of school or the entire school year, or they could even extend for several years. Any time you move a step at a time, you should never allow yourself to become discouraged or overwhelmed. As you complete each step, you will enforce the belief in your ability to grow and succeed. And as your list of completion dates grow, your motivation and desire will increase.Long-term goals may be related to our dreams of the future. They might cover five years or more. Life is not a static thing. We should never allow a long-term goal to limit us or our course of action.(221 words) 31. Our long-term goals mean a lot ____________.( B)A. But the cultures of the two countries sometimes seem to be miles apart.Last Thursday Britain and France celebrated the 100th anniversary(周年纪念)of the signing of a friendship agreement called the Entente Cordiality. The agreement marked a new beginning for the countries following centuries of wars and love-hate partnership. But their relationship has been ups and downs over the past century. Just last year, there were fierce disagreements over the Iraq war-which British Prime Minister Tony Blair supported despite French President Jacques Chirac spea king out against it. This discomfort is expressed in Blair and Chirac’s body language at international meetings. While the French leader often greets German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder with a hug(拥抱), Blair just receives a handshake. However, some political experts say the war in Iraq could in fact have helped ties. The history of divisions may well be because of the very different ways in which the two sides see the world. But this doesn’t stop 12 million Britons taking holidays in France each year. Howev er, only 3 million French come in the opposite direction. Surveys(调查)show that most French people feel closer to the Germans than they do to the British. And the research carried out in Britain has found that only a third of the population believes the French can be trusted. Perhaps this bad feeling comes because the British dislike France’s close relationship with Germany, or because the French are not happy with Britain’s close links with the US.Whatever the answer is, as both sides celebrate 100 years o f ―doubtful friendship‖, they are at least able to make jokes about each other. Here’s one: What’s the best thing about Britain’s relationship with France? The English Channel.36. For centuries, the relationship between Britain and France is ____________. Even though one has to get up earlier and spend more time in trains or buses, one can sleep better at night and during weekends and on summer evenings, one can enjoy the fresh, clean air of the country. If one likes gardens, one can spend one’s free time digging, planting, watering an d doing the hundred and one other jobs which are needed in a garden. Such people would feel that their life was not worth living if they had to live it outside London. It is necessary to give you a blood transfusion because you lost a great deal of blood in the accident. However, special care should be taken in selecting new blood for you. If the blood is too different from your own , the transfusion could kill you. There are four basic types of blood: A, B, AB, and O. A simple test can indicate a person’s blood type, which, like hair and height, is inherited from parents.Because of substances contained in each type, the four groups must be transfused carefully. Basically, A and B cannot be mixed. A and B cannot receive AB, but AB may receive A or B. O can give to any other group; hence it is often called the universal donor. For the opposite reason, AB is sometimes called the universal recipient. However, because so many reactions can occur in transfusions, patients usually receive only salt or plasma(liquid)until their blood can be matched as exactly as possible in the blood bank of a hospital. In his way, it is possible to avoid any bad reactions to the transfusion. There is a relationship between your blood type and your nationality. Yet it is a book which the writer did not want to publish; he only agreed to make his theory known to the public when he was forced to by his friends. In 1831, the British Government sent a ship called Beagle to South America to make maps of the coast. At that time, Darwin w as a young man in his twenties who had studied science in Edinburgh and Cambridge. Through a friend, he was offered the job of studying the plants and animals of the different countries that the Beagle was to visit. Darwin’s father told him not to go, an d the captain of the Beagle said that he did not like the shape of Darwin’s nose; but that did not stop him, and in December of that year, Darwin sailed for South America. He spent five years on the ship, collecting many samples and writing down his obs ervations about the living things he found. When he returned to England, he tried to work out a theory to explain what he had observed. It was clear that many species w ere connected with each other in some way, without being exactly the same. Why was this? Two years after his return, he deve loped a theory: only the strongest or the cleverest could survive difficult conditions. Over time, the species changes slowly to fi t the environment. Different environments produce different species.(17.5分)

Swedish homes are among the best equipped in the world and travellers in Sweden find their journeys made easy by the use of the most efficient modern devices.B11. 3-2教学要求

Young men will never again go to war as they did in 1914. Millions of people now have seen the effects of a battle. And the result has been a general dislike of war, and perhaps more interest in helping those who suffer from all the terrible things that have been shown on the screen.Television has also changed politics. The most distant areas can now follow state affairs, see and hear the politicians before an election. Better informed, people are more likely to vote, and so to make their opinion count.Unfortunately, television’s influence has been extremely harmful to the young. Children do not have enough experience to realize that TV shows present an unreal world; that TV advertisements lie to sell products that are sometimes bad or useless. They believe that the violence they see is normal andacceptable. That’s the time it takes on the screen.11-15 DBABD11. The adults are less violent than the young.15. From the passage, we can conclude that _____.A. children should keep away from TV/doc/dd18892555.html, programs should be improvedC. children’s books should have picturesD. TV has a deep influence on the youngPassage 2Nonverbal (非语言的) communication has to do with gestures, movements and closeness of two people when they are talking. The scientists say that those gestures, movements and so on have meaning which words do not carry. For example, the body distance between two speakers can be important. North Americans often complain that South Americans are unfriendly because they tend to stand close to the North American when speaking, while the South American often considers the North American to be “cold” or “distant” because he keeps a g reater distance between himself and the person he is speaking to . The “eye contact” provides another example of what we are calling nonverbal communication. Scientists have observed that there is more eye contact between people who like each other than there is between people who don’t like each other. The length of t ime that the person whom you are speaking to looks at your eyes indicates the amount of interest he has in the things you are talking about. On the other hand, too long a gaze can make people uncomfortable. The eyes apparently play a great part in nonverbal communication. Genuine warmth or interest, shyness or confidence can often be seen in the eyes. We do not always consider a smile to be a sign of friendliness. Someone who isalways smiling, and with little apparent reasons, often makes us uneasy.16-20 BBDAD16. O. Henry was a pen name used by an American writer of short stories. His real name was William Sydney Porter. He was born in North Carolina in 1862. As a young boy he lived an exciting life. He did not go to school for very long, but he managed to teach himself everything he needed to know. When he was about 20 years old, O. Henry went to Texas, where he tried different jobs. He first worked on a newspaper, and then had a job in a bank, when some money went missing from the bank O. Henry was believed to have stolen it. Because of that, he was sent to prison. During the three years in prison, he learned to write short stories. After he got out of prison, he went to New York and continued writing. He wrote mostly about New York and the life of the poor there. People liked his stories, because simple as the tales were, they would finish with a sudden change at the end, to the reader’s surprise.BACDA CDABC BADBC CDBDA纠错. (1) (6分)In which order did O.
