(General situation of Yungang Grottoes)
many caves dug at the foot of a hill were arranged from
east to west on the cliff of Mount Wuzhou stretching 1km behind us ,this is Yungang Grottoes. That was 1500 years ago,Yungang Grottoes are gems of oriental art universally acknowledged and with Azhantuo Grottoes of India as representative and Bamiyang Buddhist art with Bamiyang Grottoes of Afghanistan as representative ,also one of the “three Grottoes”in China universally acknowledged by the academic circles both at home and abroad and equally famous with Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang of Gansu Province and Longmen Grottoes in luoyang of Henan Province ,it is valuable culture heritage of China ,also very precious historical information for research of ancient social history ,Buddhist history and artistic history of China.
Grotto temple is an architectural from of Buddhist temple ,originating from ancient India because Sakyamuni . the Buddhist ancestor ,reached the spiritual state of an immortal by practicing Buddhism in grotto among barren mountains ,The common practice of digging grottoes and carving figure of Buddha among mountains rose as Buddhism entering China 2000 years ago . The history building grotto temple had lasted more than 1600 years from the kingdom of Wei ,Jin ,the North and south Dynasties to Ming and Qing Dynasties.
According to the records of historical book ,Yungang Grottoes was dug in the kingdom of North Wei ,before A.D.460,The caves totaled 45,including more than 51000 Buddhist figures and more than 1200 niches for statues of Buddha ,Based on the natural terrain of Mount Wuzhou ,Yungang Grottoes was divided into 3 areas of east ,middle and west ,let’s begin our visit from No.5,No.6 caves located at the middle area.

No.5cave and No.6cave of Yungang Grottoes were interlinked together ,forming a double cave ,it is the most wonderful ,most magnificent and most typical one of Yungang Grottoes .
No.5.No.6caves are a group of wooden towers with a corridor,red railing, glazed tile roof ,consisted of 4storeys and 5rooms ,standing lofry,This group of cave eaves was built in 8th year of ShunZhi period in Qing Dynasty(1651),Tongyang-liang ,the chief commander of Xuanhua at that time was in charge of the matter ,After Completion ,people ,ascending the top of the Buddhist tower when the rosy clouds were slowly rising ,looked around ,the mist was curling,as if the top of the Buddhist tower were linked with the white clouds making people have the feelin
