How to Make Friends
Friendship is a very important human relationship and everyone needs good friends. Good friendship has many benefits. It offers companionship, improves self-worth and promotes good health. There are times in our lives such as when we have recently mo ved into a new town, or changed our jobs or schools. Such changes often leave us wit hout a friend. 1 But for many of us the process is difficult and requires courage. Below are some helpful suggestions on how to make and keep friends.
Associate with others.
The first step to making friends is associating with other people. You can go to public places to meet new people. Besides, you will need to make yourself known by becomi ng an active member of such places.
Start a conversation.
Starting a conversation is the second most important step in making new friends. 12 You can always start the conversation. Being able to make small talk is a very use ful skill in relating with other people.

Choosing friends with common interests is important in building friendship as these in terests would always bring you and your friend together. Hanging out will always be a pleasant experience.
Let it grow.
It is a good thing to stay in touch. However, try not to press your new friend with calls , messages or visits as this would likely wear him or her out and finally you may lose your friend. 4 The best friendships are the ones that grow naturally.
Enjoy your friendship.
The best way to enjoy your friendship is to allow your friends to be themselves. 5 Try not to change them from who they are to what you want them to be. Become the kind of friend you will want your friend to be to you.

We are drawn to people who smile. There is an attraction factor. We want to know a smiling person and figure out what is so good because anxieties can push people away, but a smile draws them in.
Smiling changes our mood
Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. 37 Smiling can trick the body into helping you change your mood.
Smiling relieves stress
Stress can really show up in our faces. Smiling helps to prevent us from looking tired or worn down. 38 The stress should be reduced and you'll be better able to take action.
Smiling lowers your blood pressure.
When you smile, there is a measurable reduction in your blood pressure. Give it a try if you have a blood pressure monitor (血压计) at home. Sit for a few minutes and take a reading. Then smile for a minute and read it again while still smiling. 39
Smiling lifts the face and makes you look younger.
The muscles we use to smile lift the face, making a person appear younger. Don't go for a face lift, just try smiling your way through the day --- you'll look younger and feel better.

Try this test: Smile. Now try to think of something negative without losing the smile. It's hard. When we smi le, our body is sending the rest of us a message that “Life is good!"
