老人与海英文读后感篇1Read "the old man and the sea" this article, I could not help secretly for Hemingway's masterpiece. Image lifelike the story describes how an old man with a firm belief deftly will be a big fish to his humble, and how to get rid of "invasion of the enemy" -- a shark. Although he failed to bring the whole fish back, but his spirit is worth our learning: people must have the self-confidence, he will say to yourself "I can do it!" . You think about it, if the old man caught a fish, 7, 8 times more than himself he saw was afraid, put the fish, he can put the fish back to Hong Kong? No, no, he relies on ordinary people to accept such determination, to catch the big fish.In our class, there is learning of poor students, they are lack of confidence to oneself, plus others ironic, then, they have no interest in learning, thus make grades decline gradually, falling...Now the society developed, if can clone the self-confidence, that I must have a clone, send it to lack of confidence friend!读了《老人与海》这篇文章,我不禁暗暗为海明威的巨作叫好。

老人与海英文版6篇一:[老人与海英文版]The Old Man and the Sea_老人与海英语读后感500字Read the "old man and the sea", I was optimistic about the hero, brave and persistent "tough guy" image attracted deeply. The hero Santiago is a "bad luck" for the elderly, for 84 consecutive days did not catch fish, the sea for eighty-fifth days, after two days and nights of fighting, finally captured the big marlin a more than 1500 pound. However, the weather is unpredictable, on the voyage home, repeatedly attacked by a shark, the old man and the shark put up a good fight, the big marlin was eaten by a shark, a fish skeleton old man finally dragged home only a bare. During this time, the old man, with extraordinary courage and amazing perseverance, endured the unbearable loneliness, hunger, fatigue, and pain, which surpassed the limits of man again and again. But we do not see a drop of loser"s tears, but clearly see the failure of the strong smile, he is a tough guy, is a hero who has failed. This is a lonely journey, a man rowing a boat slowly towards the sea, was dragging a big fish without direction in the diffuse, complex ocean currents that floated around, frightening disorientation, like a person in the night in the forest to find a way out, only the elderly and self dialogue, and dialogue and fish. The sea of dialogue.Read in the big fish in a group of sharks smell blood, scramble to snatch a tour, the old man"s left hand just in cramp, he could only use the right hand, with sticks, swordfish caught in the mouth andall can be used to attack weapons of self-defense, and ultimately get rid of the sharks. But the flesh of the big fish has been eaten more than half, and the old man also humorously criticized his left hand, "when the work is resting", I was also impressed by the optimism of the elderly. In life, some losses are inevitable, we should be optimistic attitude to treat, not haggle over every ounce. Finally, the novel, with a young man, saw the old fisherman measuring the eighteen feet long marlin, describing the size of the fish again, indicating the difficulties the old fisherman had overcome. The novel praised the old fisherman dauntless struggle spirit, we will be like him, not satisfied with the status quo, application tendency, do anything to be unremittingly, encounter difficulties to the difficulties, never give up halfway. Only in this way can we achieve greater success and success.二:[老人与海英文版]《老人与海》读后感500字《老人与海》读后感500字美国小说家海明威凭借《老人与海》这本轰动一时的书,获得该年度普利策文学奖,两年后继而获得诺贝尔文学奖。

"Hits" This book talked about such a story, old fisherman Santiago de Cuba consecutive 84 days did not catch the fish, was another loser as a fisherman, but he was persistent, and finally caught a big marlin large Marlins his boat dragged on for three days at sea, exhausted, was tied to the boat he was killed on one side, and then Return Journey repeatedly been shark attacks,he has exhausted all means to counterattack. Back to Hong Kong only the head and a fish tail spine. Although the fish have bitten gone, but what can not destroy the will of his bravery. This book reveals to us a truth: people are not born to fail, and a person can be destroyed, but can not be defeated. Before I do anything as long as there is one point does not work well, they will retreat, and sometimes even say a few words dejected to say. In learning,I have a few tests as long as there is not very good there will be no confidence that their getting good grades. "Hits",the hero fighting with the shark, shark harpoon was taken away,he put the knife blade tied to tie chaos. Knife broke,he usedtruncheons. Batons have lost, and he used the rudder to e to play. This book reveals the truth, not to explain a man no matter what my greatest fear is the lack of confidence. Confidence is like a motor car,is a human motivation. If you do one thing with the confidence, you mean half the battle. The hero in this book are full of confidence and perseverance, not exactly what I indispensable? Since reading this book,I know that his lack of learning is no longer due to a loss of confidence in the two do not go well, but more poorly in an exam, the more to be a good test. In the final exam the day,the morning two homework results,I do not have a certain class of students is good, but I admit defeat, but confidence that the determination to fight a turnaround. Language examinations in the afternoon,I have done every Road topics are especially careful. Sure enough,I was class of the first language examinations, total score,I am also a first. In the future,I do not care what difficulties we encountered,we must face with confidence, persist in the end,and never retreat.I want to thank the book, for which I have learned so much, thank it for me to understand so many reasons, for it let me know his own shortings and correct their shortings in time,so I became a sociallyuseful people."Hits",the lonely old fisherman Santiago has been not only be tough guy,his spiritual values embodied in the body is entirely the spirit of the ancient Greek tragedy,a modern echo. In the "Hits",the Hemingway finally for his beloved tough guy to find the soul, this soul is everlasting eternal values of mankind. Thus,in the "Hits",the tough-guy character of Santiago's fortitude has bee the novel's surface. By Santiago tough-guy character to praise the eternal values of mankind, became the real theme of the novel. "Hits" and demonstrated what eternal value?老人与海读后感英文第3篇The novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. Santiago consecutive 84 days at sea,and did not catch a fish. However, the "pair of eyes,ah,like water, like blue,is happy, not depressed." Originally to follow Santiago on fishing expeditions children, spoke of his father called him to the other boat and said,: "He did not much self-confidence." "Yes." the old man said,"But we have, you say is not it?"Santiago in self-confidence is absolute self-confidence,is not to environmental change and changes in self-confidence,it does not pare with others,self-confidence. In Santiago's philosophy of existence, even when confronted with a pole of the unlucky people can only self-confidence.People alive, the only way to determine the necessity, that is,to death. In addition, there is no bound to what can rely on. Since the person is alive by chance, then the courage to support human life, the only confident. If we lose self-confidence,in the continuing unlucky so many days after the Santiago there is thecourage and perseverance on fishing expeditions do? Therefore, people live to be confident, not self-confidence is for human consumption can not afford luxury. It is precisely because Santiago had an absolute self-confidence,he was called away to the children to express a plete tolerance and understanding. Here,Hemingway has demonstrated the link between self-confidence and tolerance. "Hits" in the main space, describing the lonely old fisherman Santiago,in the open sea and in large marlin and a variety of sharks entangled, fought for three days and three nights experience. By Hemingway fullest description,we felt the Santiago desperate struggle with the fate of the heroic and noble. Last drag home for the elderly only a 18 feet-long fish skeleton, the only plete skeleton is the head and beautiful fish tail. From the physical point of view, elderly people fought for three days and three nights a result of failure; but the human spirit, from the person's self-confidence self-esteem,courage and destiny from the human to make every effort to struggle for victory Santiago. After all,the true victory can only be a triumph of the spirit. No matter who made much material success, they can not win our respect and thanks. Only the spirit and the spirit of victory,it moves us,that we have to follow the elderly and children, for his tragic tears.老人与海读后感英文第6篇The novel told a story about how the old fisherman Santiago struggled with the sea. Santiago gained a huge fish called Marlin after having drifted in the sea for 84 days. It was a fish that is 2 feet longer than the boat and that had dragged his boat for two days before being stabbed to death. It seemed that the old man wasn’t so successful, because he encountered a shark, struggled with the serious environments, even the only spoil——Marlin just left a skeleton. However, the most important thing is that Santiago had never given up for a moment. In this novel, I am deeply impressed by his persevering. I admire the old fisherman for his steel-like mind and persistence.I think there’s a real young man inside him, although he is at an old age and no longer goes back to his youth. From the strong comparison between the old look and the young heart, we can easily find that it is the positive firm spirits that make us hold our hopes and keep trying all the time and finally guide the roads towards success.Through the vivid description about the struggle between human and nature, Hemingway expresses his opinion that the courage inside human beings can help us face any failure and overcome any difficulty. In the book, the hero Santiago was beat by the shark, which we regard as a symbol of doom, but he chose to struggle with the fortune instead of losing faith in his life. Just the same as the hero Santiago, all of us will meet with various kinds of difficulties in our daily life, which is a rule of human’s fate. So how can we adjust our attitudes toward these and what should we do with so many problems? The old fisherman tell us the truth——“Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not be defeated”.老人与海读后感英文第7篇《老人与海》英文好句1.Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.每一天都是一个新的日子。

《老人与海》英文读后感

《老人与海》英文读后感

《老人与海》英文读后感The Old Man and the Sea is a novel by American writer Ernest Hemingway, published in 1951. It tells the story of an old fisherman, Santiago, who faces a huge marlin alone in the sea. Despite many difficulties and setbacks, he finally manages to bring the fish back to land, but it is later eaten by sharks. The novel is known for its vivid descriptions and powerful language, and it has received widespread recognition and praise from readers and critics.Reading The Old Man and the Sea, I was deeply moved by the story of Santiago and his struggle against nature and fate. His perseverance and courage inspire me to face challenges with courage and confidence. The novel also emphasizes the importance of family and friendship, which is reflected in Santiago's relationship with his young apprentice, Manolin. Through their shared experiences, they develop a strong bond of trust and understanding, which is a valuable lesson for me to learn as well. One of the most powerful themes in the novel is the power of the human spirit. Despite the many setbacks that Santiago faces, he never gives up. He maintains a positive attitude and remains determined to win, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. This theme resonates with me personally because it reminds me to never give up in the face of challenges, but to keep pushing forward with courage andpersistence.Another theme that I found particularly interesting was the importance of tradition and heritage. The story of Santiago is told through the lens of his own fishing tradition, which is passed down from generation to generation. This tradition represents a sense of identity and belonging for him, and it serves as a source of strength in his difficult times. For me, this theme underscores the importance of maintaining cultural traditions and passing them down to future generations. In terms of style and language, Hemingway's writing is known for its simplicity and directness. His use of vivid descriptions and powerful language brings the story to life, making it easy for readers to imagine themselves in the setting and experience the emotions that Santiago goes through. This style of writing is something that I admire and strive to emulate in my own writing.Overall, The Old Man and the Sea is a powerful and moving novel that has taught me a lot about perseverance, family, tradition, and the power of the human spirit. It has inspired me to face challenges with courage and confidence, maintain a positive attitude in tough times, and pass down cultural traditions to future generations. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys reading powerful stories that will stay with them for a lifetime.以上就是我对于《老人与海》这部作品的英文读后感,希望对您有所帮助。

Only has this, we only then can obtain a bigger successand the victory.老人与海英文读后感篇三In the book, the old man prepared his fishing properly and preciously than any other fishermen so that “Then when luck comes you are ready” as the old man thought to himself. In reality, some of us keep complaining that they are born in wrong time or good luck never knocks their doors. In fact, good luck sometimes just comes when they are not ready. Taking Newton for example, if he had not acquired a lot, millions of apples could never make him discovery the gravity. So if we just keep studying as much as we can, good luck will finally find us and a bright future is ahead of us. The old man never gives up hope. When all of people think he is doomed, he still strongly believes that he will get a big fish. And he does. So never giving up hope is very important to us. This reminded me of the sentence in Churchill’s speech “Never give up, never, never, never…”. “But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated” has always been inspiring me when I counter with some setbacks in my life. Setbacks are inevitable in pursuit of our goals, but we should never be frustrated and should be “graceful under heavy pressure” like the old man. It is his relentless pursuit that contributes to the victory.。

老人与海读后感英文版篇1The old man and the sea creates a classic image of a tough guy. Santiago, an old fisherman in Cuba, went out to sea alone and caught a huge Marlin after 84 days of nothing. This is a big fish two feet longer than his boat that the old man has never seen or heard of. The fish is strong and draggingWhy didnt Hemingway let the old man win in the end? In the words of the old man in the novel, "a man is not born to be defeated", "a man can be destroyed, but he cant be defeated." This is the philosophy of the old man and the sea. Theres no denying that as long as its human, its flawed. When a person admits this defect and tries to overcome it instead of succumbing to it, whether he can finally overcome his own defect, he is a winner, because he has overcome his own compromise on the defect, he is the winner of his own courage and confidence. The old fisherman is the winner who dares to challenge his own defects and courage and confidence. From the perspective of worldly view of victory, the old fisherman is not the final winner, because although he defeated the great Marlin at first, the great Marlin was finally eaten by the sharks. He just returned to the shore with the white bone shelf of the great marlin, that is to say, the sharks are the winners. However, in the eyes of idealists, the old fisherman is the winner, because he has never been to the sea, not to the great marlin, not to the shark compromise andsurrender. As music master Beethoven said, "I can be destroyed, but I cant be conquered.".Human nature is strong, and human beings have their own limits, but it is precisely because people like the old fishermen challenge the limits again and again, and surpass them that the limits are expanded again and again, placing greater challenges in front of human beings. In this sense, such heroes as the old fisherman Santiago, whether they challenge the limit of success or failure, are worthy of our eternal respect.Because what he brings us is the most noble confidence of human beings!老人与海读后感英文版篇2Reading the book "the old man and the sea", I was deeply moved by the spirit of the old fisherman in the book! He let me know that a person must have perseverance to succeed! This book describes an old fisherman who has a spirit of not saying defeat. Although he didnt catch a fish in 84 days, he still had hope and confidence every day. He believed that he could catch fish. So he made a long voyage. I admire this old fisherman very much. Think about myself. Sometimes when I do something and encounter a little setback, I want to give up. But with the encouragement of my parents, I persisted.During the long voyage, he met a huge marlin. After three days of hard fighting, though his hand was cramped again and again, he grabbed the fishing rod as hard as he could; though his hand was marked with blood marks by the fishing line, he continued to insist and finally caught the fish. When I read this, I thought of that climbing. When I was halfway up the mountain, I was too tired. I fell twice on the road, and my hand was cut by the thorns on the side of the road. I wanted to give up for a timeand didnt want to climb any more. But my mother encouraged me to say, "the goal is right in front of my eyes, and I will be at the top of the mountain. If I give up now, it will be a failure!" So I braced up and finally reached the top of the mountain! The old man tied the fish to one side of the boat, but in the process of returning, the sharks in the sea found the marlin with the smell of blood. Many sharks attacked again and again. The old man fought with the sharks for wisdom and courage again and again. Finally, the old man stood out and brought the big fish back to the fishing port. Compared with the old fisherman, my little difficulty is nothing. As long as I stick to it and never say die, I will succeed!I know that in my later life and study, I will also encounter many difficulties, but as long as I bravely meet the challenges with a confidence, I will always be a real winner!老人与海读后感英文版篇3"A man is not born to be defeated. He can be destroyed, but he cannot be defeated.". This is a very influential sentence in the old man and the sea. It is also a perfect interpretation given by Hemingway to his old man Santiago. The old fisherman drifted in the sea without any harvest for 84 days, and finally caught a huge marlin. After two days and two nights of struggle, the old man finally killed the big guy. But on the way back, the big fish unfortunately attracted sharks. So after another deadly fight, the old man came back to the shore exhausted, but the giant marlin was only a skeleton bitten by the shark.Although Hemingway didnt give the story a perfect ending, he depicted the unyielding quality of the spiritual strong for the readers."A man is not born to be defeated. He can be destroyed, but he cannot be defeated.". This is the old mans belief and the thought expressed in the old man and the sea. When one strives for a goal on the road of life, he often encounters many setbacks, just like the old man struggling with the shark in order to bring back the marlin. Many people are often afraid of suffering and succumb to it, and make themselves submit to it. But the old man didnt, and kept on fighting. Although the old man failed in the end - the marlin was eaten up by sharks, the old man was a "unbeaten loser". He never succumbed in spirit or action. Failure is not terrible. Who hasnt failed in life? Someone will give in to fate in failure, and the old will grow up in failure. The old mans image of "he can be eliminated, but he cant be defeated" is fully reflected in him, and people cant help but have deep admiration for the old man.Return to reality from the old man. In reality, we are often the same as the old man. When we encounter such a setback, sometimes it is also a wave of ups and downs. However, "now is not the time to think about what is missing. Think about what you can do with what you have.". The difference between the weak and the strong is fully reflected in it. If we want to be a strong man on the road of life, we must be like the old man, who will not be defeated.Life is a constant pursuit, its road is long and rough. But as long as we can fight bravely, we will be a winner forever!。

2023年老人与海英文读后感(精选6篇)老人与海英文读后感1The old man and the sea "is a novel written by American writer Hemingway, an old fisherman named Santiago eighty-four consecutive days did not catch a fish, although he has grey-haired, but he refused to admit defeat, still full of fighting spirit. At his insistence, finally in eighty-fifth days caught a one thousand and five hundred pound fish, eighteen feet long, the fish pulled the old man boat into the sea to swim, in no water and no food, no tools and peer predicament, the old man is still in the fight with the big fish, two days later he finally killed the fish, but also attracted many sharks, although he waged a fierce battle with the sharks, but he managed to get the big fish eat shark, the old man had to go home with the rest of the fish bones. After reading the novel, I was deeply moved by the old man, and some people may think that the old mans behavior is very stupid, in the "no harvest" days can still hold on. Moreover, the old man was fortunate enough to have a big fish after a fierce struggle and was eaten by sharks, and what the old man had done before seemed meaningless to them. But in my opinion, the old man is admirable. First of all, the old man was very patient, and for the long days he did not reap anything. Even if he was laughed at, he persisted. Finally, his perseverance came in, but he had to fight the big fish. In the process, he was the only one on the ship. From the spiritual point of view, he was lonely, and there was no food on the ship, and his body could not support him any longer. In the physicaland mental torture, he still persevered, and this is what I admire most of him.I feel the same about the old man. In junior high school, we have to reform the sports running, long-distance running, for no movement of the cells for me, it is a bolt from the blue. When I first started, I was far from perfect. For me, it is to get out of class to tell some fantastic tales, most students are an easy job to do. If in sports in this regard with others widen the gap, he may also be very sorry. So I decided to practice long-distance running, maybe I could sprint the full score on the day of the exam. So in addition to the provisions of the morning school every day after school every day I ran outside, to walk a few laps around the track and field.Distance examination and more than a year, long distance is really very strenuous, every time run out in a sweat does not say, for my poor people, running really very hard, from the beginning of the second lap breathing difficulties, when there are half circle of people want to fall to the ground, but also to be speed run, sprinting throat like something off, as if next second there is something to be poured out. But I still insist on, and finally to the examination day, although I tried my best, but still a little bit out of full marks. Know the moment of achievement, tears involuntarily in the eyes of the rotation, in mind, before the efforts are in vain?. Now, Zhang Sijia feels that his efforts are not without progress. At least I have made great progress.Maybe sometimes, in the eyes of others, you insist on things is meaningless, but not all things can be accomplished, there must be a longprocess, through the long process, even if not successful, but they also can get to it.老人与海英文读后感2On summer vacation of this year, I studied in novel " old man and sea " of Hemingway , famous writer of U.S.A. ,. It was the last major work of fiction to be produced by Hemingway and published in his lifetime. One of his most famous works, it centers upon Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. The Old Man and the Sea served to reinvigorate Hemingways literary reputation and prompted a reexamination of his entire body of work. The novella was initially received with much popularity; it restored many readers confidence in Hemingways capability as an author. Its publisher, Scribners, on an early dust jacket, called the novella a "new classic," and many critics favorably compared it with such works as William Faulkners "The Bear" and Herman Melvilles Moby-Dick.This book gives me a deep impression especially the description about the man’s braveness and persistence. In this book, in order to suggest the profundity of the old man’s sacrifice and the glory that derives from it, Hemingway purposefully likens Santiago to Christ, who, according to Christian theology, gave his life for the greater glory of humankind. Crucifixion imagery is the most noticeable way in which Hemingway creates the symbolic parallel between Santiago and Christ. When Santiago’s palms are first cut by his fishing line, the reader cannot help but think of Christ suffering his stigmata. Later, when the sharks arrive, Hemingway portrays the old man as a crucified martyr, saying that he makes a noise similar to that of a man having nails driven through his hands. Furthermore, the image of the old man struggling up the hill with his mast across his shoulders recalls Christ’s march toward Calvary. Even the position in which Santiago collapses on his bed—face down with his arms out straight and the palms of his hands up—brings to mind the image of Christ suffering on the cross. Hemingway employs these images in the final pages of the novella in order to link Santiago to Christ, who exemplified transcendence by turning loss into gain, defeat into triumph, and even death into renewed life. The major characters in this book are also vivid and lively.Santiago?,the old man of the novella’s title, Santiago is a Cuban fisherman who has had an extended run of bad luck. Despite his expertise, he has been unable to catch a fish for eighty-four days. He is humble, yet exhibits a justified pride in his abilities. His knowledge of the sea and its creatures, and of his craft, is unparalleled and helps him preserve a sense of hope regardless of circumstance. The marlin?,Santiago hooks the marlin, which we learn at the end of the novella measures eighteen feet, on the first afternoon of his fishing expedition. Manolin?,a boy presumably in his adolescence, Manolin is Santiago’s apprentice and devoted attendant. The old man first took him out on a boat when he was merely five years old. Due to Santiago’s recent bad luck, Manolin’s parents have forced the boy to go out on a different fishing boat. Manolin, however, still cares deeply for the old man, to whom he continues to look as a mentor.Joe DiMaggio, although DiMaggio never appears in the novel, he plays a significant role nonetheless. Santiago worships him as a model of strength and commitment, and his thoughts turn toward DiMaggio whenever he needs to reassure himself of his own strength. Perico ?,Perico, the reader assumes, owns the bodega in Santiago’s village. He never appears in the novel, but he serves an important role in the fisherman’s life by providing him with newspapers that report the baseball scores. This act establishes him as a kind man who helps the aging Santiago.Martin, like Perico, Martin, a café owner in Santiago’s village, does not appear in the story. The reader learns of him through Manolin, who often goes to Martin for Santiago’s supper. As the old man says, Martin is a man of frequent kindness who deserves to be repaid. From the very first paragraph, Santiago is characterized as someone struggling against defeat. He has gone eighty-four days without catching a fish—he will soon pass his own record of eighty-seven days. Almost as a reminder of Santiago’s struggle, the sail of his skiff resembles “the flag of permanent defeat.” But the old man refuses defeat at every turn: he resolves to sail out beyond the other fishermen to where the biggestfish promise to be. He lands the marlin, tying his record of eighty-seven days after a brutal three-day fight, and he continues to ward off sharks from stealing his prey, even though he knows the battle is useless.Because Santiago is pitted against the creatures of the sea, some readers choose to view the tale as a chronicle of man’s battle against the natural world, but the novella is, more accurately, the story of man’s place within nature. Both Santiago and the marlin display qualities of pride, honor, and bravery, and both are subject to the same eternal law: they must kill or be killed. As Santiago reflects when he watches the weary warbler fly toward shore, where it will inevitably meet the hawk, the world is filled with predators, and no living thing can escape the inevitable struggle that will lead to its death. Santiago lives according to his own observation: “man is not made for defeat . . . [a] man can be destroyed but not defeated.” In Hemingway’s portrait of the world, death is inevitable, but the best men (and animals) will nonetheless refuse to give in to its power. Accordingly, man and fish will struggle to the death, just as hungry sharks will lay waste to an old man’s trophy catch. The novel suggests that it is possible to transcend this natural law. In fact, the very inevitability of destruction creates the terms that allow a worthy man or beast to transcend it. It is precisely through the effort to battle the inevitable that a man can prove himself. Indeed, a man can prove this determination over and over through the worthiness of the opponents he chooses to face. Santiago finds the marlin worthy of a fight, just as he once found “the great negro of Cienfuegos” worthy. HSantiago, though destroyed at the end of the novella, is never defeated. Instead, he emerges as a hero. Santiago’s struggle does not enable himto change man’s place in the world. Rather, it enables him to meet his most dignified destiny. While it is certainly true that Santiago’s eighty-four-day run of bad luck is an affront to his pride as a masterful fisherman, and that his attempt to bear out his skills by sailing far into the gulf waters leads to disaster, Hemingway does not condemn his protagonist for being full of pride. On the contrary, Santiago stands as proof that pride motivates men to greatness. Because the old man acknowledges that he killed the mighty marlin largely out of pride, and because his capture of the marlin leads in turn to his heroic transcendence of defeat, pride becomes the source of Santiago’s greatest strength. Without a ferocious sense of pride, that battle would never have been fought, or more likely, it would have been abandoned before the end.Santiago’s pride also motivates his desire to transcend the destructive forces of nature. Throughout the novel, no matter how baleful his circumstances become, the old man exhibits an unflagging determination to catch the marlin and bring it to shore. When the first shark arrives, Santiago’s resolve is mentioned twice in the space of just a few paragraphs. Even if the old man had returned with the marlin intact, his moment of glory, like the marlin’s meat, would have been short-lived. The glory and honor Santiago accrues comes not from his battle itself but from his pride and determination to fight.Santiago dreams his pleasant dream of the lions at play on the beaches of Africa three times. The first time is the night before he departs on his three-day fishing expedition, the second occurs when he sleeps on the boat for a few hours in the middle of his struggle with the marlin, andthe third takes place at the very end of the book. In fact, the sober promise of the triumph and regeneration with which the novella closes is supported by the final image of the lions. Because Santiago associates the lions with his youth, the dream suggests the circular nature of life. Additionally, because Santiago imagines the lions, fierce predators, playing, his dream suggests a harmony between the opposing forces—life and death, love and hate, destruction and regeneration—of nature. This book gives me courage of conquering all kinds ofdifficulties .And I have the belief that the most beautiful thing is the process that we make our best to achieve our dream, and never say give up .老人与海英文读后感5This year winter vacation, I read the American well-known writer Hemingways novel " old person and sea ". I extremely admire in the novel the senior fishermans will, he let me understand one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain successfully. The novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. The senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish, only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpassed the oneself fishing boat several fold, although knew perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up. Afterwards and further because in the big marlin wound fish fishy smell brought in several crowds of shark fish snatches the food, but the old person still did not hope like thisto give up, finally highlighted encircles tightly, returned to the big fish belt the fishing port, lets other fishermen not admire already. When I read " the senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place... " When, I extremely admire this senior fisherman, because he by now already projected on some fish, but he had not settled to the present situation, but was approaches the bigger goal advance. Again has a look us, usually meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain incessantly. We will be the motherland future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal. When I read " the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fishs life, it was static static floats on the water surface... " When, my heart also liked together the big stone falls. I extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentless spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above. Just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest success. We also must study senior fishermans spirit in life, handles the matter does not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain successfully. Was reading the big fishs smell of blood is smelled by one crowd of shark fish, struggled swims snatches the food, old persons left hand happen to in the convulsions, he only could use the right hand, with woodenstick, the mouth and so on all was allowed to use for the weaponself-defense which attacked, and finally expelled this crowd of shark fish. But the big fishs meat was already eaten one most, but the old person also charmingly criticized oneself the left hand " this work time actually was resting " time, I also was subdued by the old person optimistic spirit. In the life, some losses are inevitable, we should treat by the optimistic manner, cannot be calculating. Finally, the novel sees by one youth the senior fisherman fully has 18 foot long big marlin in the measure, once more described this fishs hugeness, explained senior fisherman overcomes the difficulty was big, non- was more common than. The novel eulogized the spirit which the senior fisherman fear hard and dangerous diligently did not struggle, we also should like his such, could not satisfy the present situation, should positively to above, do any matter all is relentless, meets difficultly must welcome difficultly above, could give up halfway in no way. Only has this, we only then can obtain a bigger success and the victory.老人与海英文读后感6The Old Man and the Sea was written by an American writer named Ernest Hemingway. It has been translated into tens of languages, and the writer was so proud of his work.Santiago, the hero of the story, had gone eighty-four days without taking a fish back. At first, a boy named Manolion had been with him, but Santiago couldn’t catch even one fish. The boy had gone at his parents’orders in a lucky boat which caught three good fish the first week, and the couple thought that it was definitely and finally bad to let their boy stay with the old fisherman. On Santiago’s eighty-fifth day of fishing, he went out alone, leaving the smell of the land behind and rowing out into the clean early morning smell of ocean. To his surprise, he caught a tuna which he had never seen before and it was hard to believe that the tuna was bigger than his boat. Later, the blood from the tuna left a trail for all sharks as wide as a highway, so fighting against sharks was unavoidable. The result was that sharks ate up all the meat of the tuna and Santiago only brought the tuna skeleton back. He was so tired that he slept deeply as soon as he got home, dreaming of lions. In this story, Santiago was an old and poor widow though he was good at fishing and had so much valuable experience. He only lived on fishing all his life. At long last, he just brought the skeleton back, you may think such a fisherman should be a loser, but this result didn’t mean failing. On the contrary, Hemingway used the skeleton which was the pillar of spirit to strengthen the meaning of the old man’s life. Santiago was described as a perfect person who never gave up.The boy named Manolion appeared in the beginning and at the end. Even during Santiago’s voyage, he always came to the poor old man’s mind. He was the only person who cared Santiago sincerely, trust Santiago absolutely, and the young boy wanted to be an inheritor of Santiago’s career. Hemingway not only told us the experience of fishing should be spread from generation to generation, but also expected us to admire, to learn from and to carry on the spirit of Santiago. The appearance of Manilion was not by chance, which was arranged by Hemingway. During Santiago’s long voyage, how much he wished the boy could have been withhim to drive his loneliness away. Youth is the symbol of energy and hope. Even an old man can be young inside. Lions appeared several times in Santiago’s dreams for they were living in his heart, which showed the spirit of Santiago would never be low.The coming of the sharks could not be avoided. They can be thought as attack which can swallow your success and happiness. The story tells me to face the problems happened in my life with a heart as wide as ocean. Though the old man was lonely, he was a traveler who walked on the road of realizing his ideals. But he was not alone at the moment, for his will was so firm. The Old Man and the Sea has won the Nobel Prize at last, which is a comfort to the writer.。

老人与海读后感_英文版(The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea)(共五篇)第一篇:老人与海读后感_英文版(The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea) The Old Man and the SeaWhen I was a middle school student, I’ve finished this book in Chinese. At that time, I thought it was a boring story.I couldn’t understand why the writer uses so many words to describe an old man’s fishing experience. But when I read it in English recently, I really gain something new both in the way of expressions and the spirits it shows to me.Maybe different ages to read the same book will learn different things from it.The old man and the Sea, one of Ernest Hemingway’ s most famous work of fiction, was published in 1952.Critics praise that the novel is Hemingway’s last major work of fiction, and he won 1953’s Pulitzer Prize for Fiction , Award of Merit Medal and 1954’s Nobel Prize in Literature.Hemingway is a famous American writer of modern times. He is also an international literary celebrity in the world.Hisfather was a prominent doctor, and also good at fishing and hunting. The influence of his dad made him full of love with fishing and hunting. His life was active and adventurous, but it was full of pains. He had once joined the army and had injured in Italy, and he suffered much that was brought about by the war deeply. He was disppointed with the world and the pessimistic about the fate of the man.In order to save the desperate situation, Hemingway wrote a work, the Old Man and the Sea, that he firmly believes to be the best works in his life.It is a story that an old man whose name is Santiago went out to do some fishing on the sea.But down on his luck, he hadn’t caught any fish for eight-four days-----he will soon pass his own record of eighty-seven days.He goes far out into the sea and He caught a huge marlin which is much bigger than his boat.A desperate struggle ensures.Santiago manages to kill the fish and ties it to the boat. When he was on the way home, the smell of blood of the marlin draw a lot of sharks’ attention and they fought for it.In order to protect the marlin and him, the old man tried his best to fight with them. But these dangerous giant sharks eat up the marlin, leaving only a skeleton. The old man brings it home and goes to bed to dream, almost dead with exhausion. This book gives me a deep impression especially the description about the old man.Different aspects can be seen from Santiago: such as brave, persistent, pride, optimistic, lonely and intelligent. He does not catche a single fish for eight-four days, what is worse, the child who has catched fish with him also forced to leave him.Lonesome is his only friend as well as enemy. But he still keeps on trying without being despaired. He goes far out into the sea and catches a huge marlin after three1days’ patient st ruggle. When a person waits for something so hard and when he has an opportunity to get it, he will cherish the chance carefully and make mind to realize it.From fighting with the huge marlin to driving away the fierce shark. It is only when the condition is so bad can show a person’s skill of braveness and persistence.Even thought he is so tired, he brings the big skeleton of the fish back to the bank.“ He saw the white naked line of his backbone and the dark mass of the head with the projecting bill and all the nakeness between.” Maybe, Santiago gets nothing, but he has tasted the victory in fighting process. The tough guy image of the old fisherman is more obvious and outstanding. It reprensents a spirit that is struggle, pride, never given up, confident. When reading the big fish’ssmell of blood is smelled by one crowd of shark fish, struggled swims snatches the food.Old person’s left hand happen to in the convulsions. He only could use the right hand, with wooden stick. The mouth and so on all was allowed to use for the weapon self-defense which attacked, and finally expelled this crowd of shark fish. But the big fish’s meat was already eaten up.But the old man also charmingly criticized himself the left hand “ this work time actually was resting ”.I was so admire the old man’s optimistic spirit. In the life, some losses are inevitable, we should treat by the optimistic manner. This book gives me courage of conquering all kinds of difficulties. And I have the belief that the most beautiful thing is the process that we make our best to achieve our dream, and never giving up.While it is certainly true that Santiago’s eighty-four-day run of bad luck is an affront to his pride as a masterful fisherman, and that his attempt to bear out his skills by sailing far into the gulf waters leads to disaster, Hemingway does not condemn his protagonist for being full of pride. On the contrary, Santiago stands as proof that pride motivates men to greatness.Because the old man acknowledges that he killed the mighty marlin largely out of pride, and because his capture of the marlin leads in turn to his heroic transcendence of defeat, pride becomes the source of Santiago’s greatest strength.Without a ferocious sense of pride, that battle would never have been fought, or more likely, it would have been abandoned before the end.Santiago’s pride also motivates his desire to transcend the destructive forces of nature.Throughout the novel, no matter how horrible his circumstances become, the old man exhibits an unflagging determination to catch the marlin and bring it to shore. When the first shark arrives, Santiago’s resolve is mentioned twice in the space of just a fewparagraphs.Even if the old man had returned with the marlin intact, his moment of glory,2like the marlin’s meat, would have bee n short-lived.The glory and honor Santiago acquires comes not from his battle itself but from his pride and determination to fight. As the novel begins, Santiago definitely and finally failed. However, he kept self-composed and had confidence in his dignity. So even having got nothing in the first 84 days, he continued to go out to fish.Santiago decide to sailing out further than any fisherman had before testified his confidence to the depth. It also shows his confidence to change his bad luck, because he clearly knew what he was born for.Yes, he was born for the conquering of the sea.Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated. We all know that the windows of one’s soul.It means the old man’s heart or soul is convincible. In order to protect his dignity, he finally summarized the famous motto “ Man is not made for defeat.A man can be destroyed but not defeated”.This is obviously the declaration to the difficulties and adversities. It encourages human to fight for dignity.Santiago dreams his pleasant dream of the lions at play on the beaches of Africa three times. The first time is the night before he departs on his three-day fishing expedition, the second occurs when he sleeps on the boat for a few hours in the middle of his struggle with the marlin, and the third takes place at the very end of the book.In fact, the sober promise of the triumph and regeneration with which the novella closes is supported by the final image of the lions.Because Santiago associates the lions with his youth, the dream suggests the circular nature of life.Additionally, because Santiago imagines the lions, fierce predators, playing, his dreamsuggests a harmony between the opposing forces—life and death, love and hate, destruction and regeneration—of nature.I also appreciate the relationship between the old man and the boy.The old man was in bad luck and the boy had got good fishes after he left the old man.Santiago didn’t feel jealous but happy for him. When talking with the boy who was not willing to leave, the man said, “ I know you did not leave me because you doubted” and he felt it was quited normal, though he would be lonely without the boy. When the boy asked if he could offer the old man a beer on the terrace and then took the stuff home, the old man said, “ why not”.Between fisherment, all these details show that Santiago was reasonable, sensible, kind with open mind. The old man’s grace lies in his gender feeling. Some details in how the old man woke the boy: he took hold of one foot gently and held it until the boy woke up.When the boy was still sleepy, the old man put his arm across his shoulders and said, “ I am sorry”.Just like someone said, heartlessness doesn’t make the hero, pity for3children makes more the man. With confident attitude towards life, the old man took thing philosophically. In fact the boy could come back to him and he needed the boy, but when the boy wanted to be back, the old man refused because it was the boy’s parents who made him leave and h e could not make the boy awkward and unlucky with him.And boy, who also much care about the old man.The boy looked after the man and accompanied with him. They had a great time when they get together.Although his parents forced him to another fish boat, he still continued take the old man as his mentor. The old fisher man’s tragic life reflected Ernest Hemingway’s experience. He has taken part in two world wars and spanic war.He and thepeople had not relief from the evil dream of the war.Despairing, failing had been always around them. The society is full of chaos and decay after war. These helped Hemingway to show the character of Santiago. In addition, by describing the experience of Santiago, Hemingway successed in reaching his goal to convey the main theme of the story.Courage, confidence, as well as never giving up are ways leadings to success. In other words, a man can be destroyed but not be defeated. Both readers and critics give the work------the Old Man and the Sea so high comment just because of the meanings and influences of the book.It tells us that a man should face and overcome difficulties in life with courage, confidence, and the spirit of never giving up.第二篇:The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea老人与海英文读后感The Old Man and the SeaThe old man and the sea which was written by Ernest Hemingway who won the Nobel Prize for Literature and the Pulitzer Prize. It served to reinvigorate Hemingway's literary reputation and prompted a reexamination of his entire body of work. The novella was initially received with much popularity;it restored many readers' confidence in Hemingway's capability as an author. This book gives me a deep impression especially the description about the man’s braveness and persistence. The novel tells us a story: an old man named Santiago in Cuba who was a fisherman. He had been fishing hard in the Gulf Stream for 84 days but got nothing. In the previous days a boy named Manolin was fallowing him as a company, but the kind boy was force to leave the old man by his parents who thought that the old man was unlucky.Santiago went fishing alone in the eighty-fifth day and got a big fish which fully has 18 foot length in the measure. However, on the way back a shark came and ate thestly, the marlin left only a skeleton. The book is a fable describing the unconquerable spirit of the old man--How he take in the spiritual victory from the circumstance that is full of disasters.Hemingway seems to believe that there are only two options: defeat or endurance until destruction;Santiago clearly chooses the latter. His stoic determination is mythic, nearly Christ-like in proportion. He didn't give the old man the success, but fortitude and resilience to face the pressure. The value of his life was completely reflected in the way he catch fish.He is the real winner in his own world. He is an ordinary fisherman, as well as a hero. And he is made out as a person of motivation, passion, and hope.Santiago was old just as Hemingway said, “Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and wer e cheerful and undefeated.”He think every day is a new day.No matter how old he is.He said , “It s better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.” He was poor;he had nothing except a little boat and harpoon. But he said , “Now is no time to think of what you do not have.Think of what you can do with what there is.”Santiago is a man with little direction but enough determination and experience to live.He chose not to see what others thought but lived by how he perceived the world. He overcame the marlin with his constant struggles and persistent and he showed his earnest desires to live and fish.Throughout the story many aspects can be found about Santiago’s personality merely in the content of his 3-day fight against the marlin.Certainly Santiago is a man of many themes and personality traits. He is respected by a young boy, Manolin, yet he is looked down upon by many of the younger fishermen in the Cuban fishing village where he lives. Some people laugh at himwhen he passed by, and some thought of him to be too old to be a fisherman. They didn’t believe he was able to catch a fish. But he was much better and more exact than most of the other fisherman in the village.Santiago was alone. He catches fishes alone. He fights against sharks alone. He can talk to nobody except himself. No one will help him.Even though he faced hungry, weary and difficulty alone, he does not give up and never feel lonely because his willingness is so strong. And he was approached in an ideal trip.“I fight you to death” , a tough voice.Although he knew it was very difficult to beat the big marlin, but he still did not give up.It shows his heroism and the strength of his tenacious trend.I extremely admire the fisherman's willingness. He lets me understand one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain what he wants successfully.“The senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place...”.He had not settled to the present s ituation, but was approaching the bigger goal. When I read “ the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leap the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fish's life, it wasstaticfloatsonthewatersurface...”, I extremely admire the relentless spirit of old man.Although he knew the difficulty is very strong and hard, but he did not slightly flinch. Both Santiago and the marlin displayqualities of pride, honor, and bravery, and both are subject to the same eternal law: they must kill or be killed. As Santiago reflects when he watches the weary warbler fly toward shore, where it will inevitably meet the hawk, the world is filled with predators, and no living thing can escape the inevitable struggle that will lead to its death.Santiago lives according to his own observation: “man is not made for defeat.A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” It is the most well-known sentence of this novel. These words become belief of many readers. In my opinion, the whole story is about a battle between an old man and the sea, both of which are considered to have symbolic meanings according to critics. The old man once was so energetic and strong but couldn’t get harvest from the sea.He used his old body and strong mind to fight against nature and challenge his fate.He got the large fish, but he lost totally because he carried back only the skeleton of the fish with his hands bleeding. However, he had done all he could to fight against all unlucky things and didn’t lose his face.He behaved like a real man, a tough man. That’s what’s most importan t in a battle. When he met difficulty, he welcomes difficulty.A person shouldn't fear but accept the defeat with pleasure.I think we can study senior fisherman's spirit in life and learn to be tough and brave like him when facing with hard times in our life, which is the best solution we should choose in a bad situation.Sharks may be seen as a hit that made the success and happiness loss. But, as the child said, “It does not beat you, it does not.” We need not fear the difficulty and we should handle the matter, then we can obtain a bigger success and the victory. We will meet a lot difficulty, and what we should to is trying our best to fight against it.Perhaps we loss in the battle, but we win the spirit, theintangible thing. What is most important is not the result, but the course.第三篇:老人与海读后感_英文版(The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea) The Old Man and the Sea When I was a middle school student, I’ve finished this book in Chinese. He is also an international literary celebrity in the world. His father was a prominent doctor, and also good at fishing and hunting. The influence of his dad made him full of love with fishing and hunting. His life was active and adventurous, but it was full of pains. He had once joined the army and had injured in Italy, and he suffered much that was brought about by the war deeply. He was disppointed with the world and the pessimistic about the fate of the man.In order to save the desperate situation, Hemingway wrote a work, the Old Man and the Sea, that he firmly believes to be the best works in his life.It is a story that an old man whose name is Santiago went out to do some fishing on the sea.But down on his luck, he hadn’t caught any fish for eight-four days-----he will soon pass his own record of eighty-seven days.He goes far out into the sea and He caught a hugemarlin which is much bigger than his boat.A desperate struggle ensures.Santiago manages to kill the fish and ties it to the boat. This book gives me a deep impression especially the description about the old man.Different aspects can be seen from Santiago: such as brave, persistent, pride, novel “ old person and sea ”.I extremely admire in the novel the senior fisherman's will, he let me understand one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain successfully. The novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. The senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish, only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpassed the oneself fishing boat several fold, although knew perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up.Afterwards and further because in the big marlin wound fish fishy smell brought in several crowds of shark fish snatches the food, but the old person still did not hope like this to give up, finally highlighted encircles tightly, returned to the big fish belt the fishing port, lets other fishermen not admire already. When I read “ the senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place… ” When, I extremely admire this senior fisherman, because he by now alreadyprojected on some fish, but he had not settled to the present situation, but was approaches the bigger goal advance.Again has a look us, usually meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain incessantly. We will be the motherland future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal. When I read “ the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fish's life, it was static static floats on the water surface… ” When, my heart also liked together the big stone falls.I extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentless spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above.Just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest success. We also must study senior fisherman's spirit in life, handles the matter does not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain successfully. Was reading the big fish's smell of blood is smelled by one crowd of shark fish, struggled swims snatches the food, old person's left hand happen to in the convulsions, he only could use the right hand, with wooden stick, the mouth and so on all was allowed to use for the weapon self-defense which attacked, and finally expelled this crowd of shark fish. But the big fish's meat was already eaten one most, but the old person also charmingly criticized oneself the left hand “ this work time actually was resting ” time, I also was subdued by the old person optimistic spirit. In the life, some losses are inevitable, we should treat by the optimistic manner, cannot be calculating. Finally, the novel sees by one youth the senior fisherman fully has 18 foot。

《老人与海》英文读后感3篇

《老人与海》英文读后感3篇Reading Response 1: The Old Man and the SeaI recently finished reading The Old Man and the Sea, a novel by Ernest Hemingway. Set in Cuba, the story revolves around an old fisherman named Santiago who has gone 84 days without a catch. He sets out to sea one day determined to catch a giant marlin, but instead finds himself in a battle for survival against the giant fish.As I was reading this book, I was struck by how effortlessly Hemingway brought the story of Santiago to life. The writing is simple and straightforward, yet it is packed with so much emotion and meaning. I found myself rooting for Santiago, wanting him to triumph over the fish and come home victorious. At the same time, I was also acutely aware of the fragility of his situation and the fact that he might not make it back alive. The Old Man and the Sea is an important book because it speaks to issues that are still relevant today. It touches on themes of perseverance, determination, and resilience, and it reminds us of the importance of never giving up in the face of adversity. In addition, the book also forces us to confront our relationship with nature and the consequences of our actions.Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thought-provoking and engaging read. Hemingway’s prose is captivating and his characters are unforgettable. This book may be over 65 years old, but its themes are just as relevant today as they were when it was first published.Reading Response 2: The Old Man and the SeaThe Old Man and the Sea is, without a doubt, one of the most powerful and moving books I have ever read. The story of an old fisherman’s struggle to catch a giant marlin is at once both simple and complex, touching on issues of mortality, perseverance, and the fragility of the human spirit. As I was reading this book, I was struck by Hemingway’s use of language. His prose is sparse and unadorned, yet it is also incredibly powerful. He is able to convey so much depth and emotion with just a few words, and his characters are so richly drawn that they linger long after the book is finished. The Old Man and the Sea is an important book because it forces us to confront some of the most fundamental questions about human existence. What is the meaning of life? How do we face the inevitability of our own mortality? What gives our lives purpose and meaning? These are the questions that Santiago grapples with as he faces his own mortality in the face of the giant marlin.Ultimately, I found this book to be an incredibly moving and thought-provoking read. It reminded me of the resilience of the human spirit and of the importance of never giving up in the face of adversity. It also reminded me of the beauty and fragility of the natural world and of o ur responsibility to protect it. If you haven’t readThe Old Man and the Sea, I would highly recommend it.Reading Response 3: The Old Man and the SeaI recently read The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway, and I must say that I was blown away by the sheer power and emotional impact of this book. The story of an old fisherman’s gruelling battle with a giant marlin is at once heartbreaking and inspiring, and it is a testament to the power of the human spirit in the face of adversity. One of the things that struck me most about this book was Hemingway’s ability to capture the essence of Santiago’s struggle in such simple and evocative language. His prose is spare and unadorned, yet it is also incredibly powerful and deeply moving. I found myself fully immersed in the story of Santiago, rooting for him to triumph over the fish and come back to the shore with his head held high. The Old Man and the Sea is an important book because it reminds us of the fundamental struggles that we all face as human beings. It reminds us of the importance of resilience, perseverance, and determination in the face of adversity, and itforces us to confront some of the most profound questions about human existence.Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a thought-provoking and emotionally powerful read. Hemingway is a masterful storyteller, and his characters are amongst the most memorable in all of literature. This book may be over 65 years old, but its themes are just as relevant today as they were when it was first written.。

《老人与海》英文读后感(精选15篇)

《老人与海》英文读后感(精选15篇)《老人与海》英文读后感(精选15篇)《老人与海》英文读后感 1I readwhen I was in junior middle school. At that time I do not know why the old man persists to take dentuso back. It’s so dangerous to fight with sharks. But he did not give up. But now I’m really proud of Santiago. He is so brave and persevering. “But a man is not made for defeat” he said “A man can be destroyed but not defeated.”Santiago was old just as Hemingway said “Everything a bout him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated.” He think every day is a new day. No matter how old he is. He said “It’s better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.”Santiago was poor; he had nothing except a little boat and harpoon. But he said “Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.” Santiago was alone. Mandolin can not go to sea with him because of his parents. He catches fishes alone. He fights with sharks alone. He can talk to nobody except himself. No one will help him. But even though he faced hungry; weary and difficulty alone, he does not give up.Somebody said Santiago was a failure. Because at last he said he wishes that it had been a dream and the boy cried for him can really approve it. In this way I think Santiago was a lucky person. Because he still had Mandolin. The boy loved him and pitied him. If Mandolin had no money his own, he begged or stole to make sure that Santiago had enough to eat and fresh baits for his lines. The old man accepts his kindness with humility that was like a quiet kind of pride. I think Santiago is a hero and he is not a failure. Because catch fish is a part of his life and it is the memory of his mind and he catch a really big fish back at last. The value of his life was completely reflected in the way he catch fish. He is the real winner in his own world. After I think about this book and Santiago. I realized that I’m not brave enough. I can not stay hopeful when I face laugh and indifferent. And I don’t have enough courage to do what I want to do. I’m so afraid of this world. I’m so afraid of the people’s words who speak it behind my back. I’m so cowardly and that’s the reason I always lose. Now I know what to do. Don’t mind others. Be myself. I need possess the quality of reason and shay cheerful and undefeated. Be kind and happy. Be strong and optimistic.《老人与海》英文读后感 2On summer vacation of this year,I studied in n ovel “ old man and sea ” of Hemingway ,famous writer of U.S.A.,.I admire the old fishermans will in the novel very much,he lets me understand that a person must have unremitting spirit, could succeed .What the novel is described is an old fisherman almost the sixty years old, when go to sea and fish alone once, have angled to a big fish, but can not draw. After tough fisherman and fish have socialized for a few days, just find this is a big Malins fish which exceeds several times of ones own fishing boat, though know perfectly well that it is very difficult to win ,does not give up yet.Because big Malin fish fishlike smell of wound attract odd herds of shark vie for the food again later, but the old man is still unwilling to give up like this, stress the tight encirclement finally ,take the large fish back to fishing port ,let other fishmen admire it endlessly. The old fisherman thinks that as I read “:It isreally too close from here to coast, perhaps there are bigger fish in the farther place ……”When, admire very much because this old fisherman in the persons, because play not for some fishing he already at this moment I,but he is not satisfied with the existing state of affairs ,but advance towards greater goal.Seeing us again, meet some little difficulties at ordinary times ,all of us complain bitterly. We are the future of the motherland, should be as ambitious as this old man,go to pursue well ,greater goal.Read as me “ big Malin fish is it enclose light fishing boat move about ,is it get mast to twine cable fast to begin, old man right hand hold steel fork high ,jump out in a flash ,affording to try ones best above water in it,a sound of wail has finished the life of the loud fish,it floats on the surface of water silently ……”When, the I one heart is too fall like pieces of stone not big.I admire that kind of fearing of the old man at all ,unremitting spirit very much, though know rivals strength is very strong ,but he has not shrunk back at all ,meets the difficulty.Just because there is this kind of spirit, the old fisherman has obtained the victory of the trial of strength of this life and death. We should study the old fishermans spirit too in life,do the thing and is not afraid of the difficulty ,could achieve success .Read big blood offensive smell of fish smell one shark ,fall over each other to visit to vie for the food, left hand of old man pull a muscle just,he can only use right hand, can weapon attacked to used for defend oneself with stick ,mouth of swordfish that catch everything, and has driven away this herd of shark finally. But big meat of fish take into big half already, but old man criticize ones own left hand “ when the work this when have a rest ” humorously also,I am subdued by old mans optimistic spirit too.In life, some losses areunavoidable,we should treat the optimistic attitude ,cant worry about petty gain or loss .Finally, the novel sees with a teenager that old fisherman has 18 feet of big long Malins fish totally in the tolerance ,the ones that have described this fish are enormous again, prove that old fishermans difficulty overcome is big, than ordinary.Old fishermans spirit that makes great efforts to struggle fearless of danger and difficulty that the novel has been extolled,we should be like him too,can t be satisfied with the current situation ,should be positive upwards,it should be unremitting to do anything,it must not give up halfway to meeting difficulty should meet the difficulty.Only in this way,we could obtain greater success and victory .《老人与海》英文读后感 3In the book, the old man prepared his fishing properly and preciously than any other fishermen so that “Then when luck comes you are ready” as the old man thought to himself. Setbacks are inevitable in pursuit of our goals, but weshould never be frustrated and should be “graceful under heavy pressure” like the old man. It is his relentless pursuit that contributes to the victory.《老人与海》英文读后感 4Since reading this book, I know less than their own, not because of learningone or two do not go well and lose confidence, but more test well, the more to be a good test. From now on, I do not care what kind of difficulties encountered, we must face with confidence, insisted in the end, and never flinched. I would like to thank the book, thanks to it so that I have learned so much knowledge, it let me know how to thank so many reason, let me know for its own lack of timely andcorrect their own shortcomings, so that I become a socially useful people. Sharks may be seen as a blow to eat our success and happiness. But as the child said: "It does not beat you, it does not." A real strong, can only be destroyed can not be beat. Solely, which is "Old Man and the Sea" tells us.《老人与海》英文读后感 5The Old Man And The Sea This is a great book, mind you. How I gave opinions to that is the spirits of Santiago greatly affected me. But the author, Earnest Hemingway said if his writing is really good, then the characters can also be many other things. Santiago is a common fisherman, and he hadnt had a fish for 84 days. And this time when he left he fished a big salmon by himself. He fought the fish for 3 days and nights and finally he kills it. He called it his brother. But he then had to fight the sharks and finally he gone home with a fish spine, and some fish bones. I could find his great spirits of never giving up. Particularly if he just loose the grip of the fishing poleand let the fish go, he wouldnt have anytrouble, but he can stay to the end. Something I regret to tell you is that I didnt read this book very carefully, so I intend to tell you I want to read this book again and tell you what Ive gained through the second-time reading.《老人与海》英文读后感 6I have read many books, which I learned a lot of knowledge, let me know a lot of truth in life, including a book, let me experience a deep,it is a famous writer Ernest Hemingway wrote, "Hits.""Hits" This book talked about such a story, old fisherman Santiago de Cuba consecutive 84 days did not catch the fish, was another loser as a fisherman, but he was persistent, and finally caught a big marlin large Marlins his boat dragged on for three days at sea, exhausted, was tied to the boat he was killed on one side, and then Return Journey repeatedly been shark attacks, he has exhausted all means to counterattack. In learning, I have a few tests as long as there is not very good there will be no confidence that their getting good grades. "Hits", the hero fighting with the shark, shark harpoon was taken away, he put the knife blade tied to tie chaos. Knife broke, he used truncheons. Batons have lost, and he used the rudder to e to play. This book reveals the truth, not to explain a man no matter what my greatest fear is the lack of confidence. Confidence is like a motor car,is a humanmotivation. If you do one thing with the confidence, you mean half the battle. The hero in this book are full of confidence and perseverance, not exactly what I indispensable?Since reading this book, I know that his lack of learning is no longer due to a loss of confidence in the two do not go well, but more poorly in an exam, the more to be a good test. In the final exam the day, the morning two homework results, I do not have a certain class of students is good, but I admit defeat, but confidence that the determination to fight a turnaround. Language examinations in the afternoon,I have done every Road topics are especially careful. Sure enough, I was class of the first language examinations, total score, I am also a first. In the future, I do not care what difficulties we encountered,we must face with confidence, persist in the end, and never retreat. I want to thank the book, for which I have learned so much, thank it for me to understand so many reasons, for it let me know his own shortings and correct their shortings in time,so I became a socially useful people."Hits", the lonely old fisherman Santiago has been not only be tough guy,his spiritual values embodied in the body is entirely the spirit of the ancient Greek tragedy, a modern echo. In the "Hits", the Hemingway finally for his beloved tough guy to find the soul, this soul is everlasting eternal values of mankind. Thus,in the "Hits",the tough-guy character of Santiagos fortitude has bee the novels surface. By Santiago tough-guy character to praise the eternal values of mankind, became the real theme of the novel. "Hits" and demonstrated what eternal value? The first is peoples self-confidence. Santiago consecutive 84 days at sea, and did not catch a fish. However, the "pair ofeyes, ah, like water, like blue, is happy, not depressed." Originally to follow Santiago on fishing expeditions children, spoke of his father called him to the other boat and said, : "He did not much self-confidence." "Yes." the old man said, "But we have, you say is not it?"Santiago in self-confidence is absolute self-confidence, is not to environmental change and changes in self-confidence, it does not pare with others,self-confidence. In Santiagos philosophy of existence, even when confronted with a pole of the unlucky people can only self-confidence.People alive, the only way to determine the necessity, that is, to death. In addition, there is no bound to what can rely on. Since the person is alive by chance, then the courage to support human life, the only confident. If we lose self-confidence, in the continuing unlucky so many days after the Santiago there is the courage and perseverance on fishing expeditions do? Therefore, people live to be confident, not self-confidence is for human consumption can not afford luxury. It is precisely because Santiago had an absolute self-confidence,he was called away to the children to express a plete tolerance and understanding. Here,Hemingway has demonstrated the link between self-confidence and tolerance. "Hits" in the main space, describing the lonely old fisherman Santiago, in the open sea and in large marlin and a variety of sharks entangled, fought for three days and three nights experience. By Hemingway fullest description,we felt the Santiago desperate struggle with the fate of the heroic and noble. Last drag home for the elderly only a 18 feet-long fish skeleton, the only plete skeleton is the head and beautiful fish tail. From the physical point of view, elderly people fought forthree days and three nights a result of failure; but the human spirit, from the persons self-confidence self-esteem, courage and destiny from the human to make every effort to struggle for victory Santiago .After all, the true victory can only be a triumph of the spirit. No matter who made much material success, they can not win our respect and thanks. Only the spirit and the spirit of victory,it moves us, that we have to follow the elderly and children, for his tragic tears.《老人与海》英文读后感 7the Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingways most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a GREat part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. But The Old Man and the Sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre. My first impression of this story was from screen. Its long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I dont remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. Its pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine, though I didnt think shes beautiful. Butshes smart. However, I didnt pay much attention to the plot. I thought its so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I havent read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice. In fact, I didnt understand the story at that time. I didnt know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didnt find where s the prejudice. I thought its normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. Im a prejudiced person so I cant find wheres wrong. I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.《老人与海》英文读后感 8Human nature is a powerful, humanity itself has its own limits, but it is because of the old fisherman such people again and again to challenge the limits, beyond them, this limit was extended again and again, and again a greater challenge in front of human beings. In this sense, the old fisherman sangdeya brother this hero, whether they challenge limit is success or failure, is always worthy of our respect. Because, he brings us is the most noble human self-confidence!Life is an endless pursuit. It is the road long, difficult and full of ups and downs, but, as long as he has a brave and confident heart to meet the challenge, he will always be a real winner! 《老人与海》英文读后感 9The old man and the sea "is a novel written by American writer Hemingway, an old fisherman named Santiago eighty-four consecutive days did not catch a fish, although he has grey-haired, but he refused to admit defeat, still full of fighting spirit. In the physical and mental torture, he still persevered, and this is what I admire most of him.I feel the same about the old man. At least I have made great progress.Maybe sometimes, in the eyes of others, you insist on things is meaningless, but not all things can be accomplished, there must be a long process, through the long process, even if not successful, but they also can get to it.《老人与海》英文读后感 10Santiago, an old man about sixty years old, fished alone with nothing caught in eighty four days. No one would like to talk to him for his extremely bad luck except a boy who always came to help after the day and finally left to another boat under the pressure of his parents. Ignoring the contempt from the younger fishermen and sympathy from the older, on the morning of the 85th day, the old man started his fishing with determination and rowed his old boat very far in the sea where he believed there would be big fish. Fortunately the old man met with a big fish ashe had wished and finally defeated the big Marlin with two days and nights struggle after overcoming great difficulties. But more unfortunately there were many sharks coming after his boat attracted by the smell of the blood of the big Marlin. After death-and-life struggle, when he finally got rid of the sharks coming after the boat, the big Marlin was bare skeleton. The Old Man and the Sea tells a frustrated experience of the old man who fishes alone in the sea in plain languages. Through the simple lines, a “tough guy” image is shaped and heroism is praised. The whole story starts with a peaceful beginning which is some trivial of life and talking with the boy, and suddenly turns to its climax which is the dangerous fighting with the big fish and sharks alone in the sea, and ends with the old man’s return with the bare skeleton of the big Marlin. Though the boy only appears at the beginning and the ending in the novel, he plays an indispensible role, it is his inspiring and supporting that helps the old man to be “graceful under heavy pressure”.In the book, the old man prepared his fishing properly and preciously than any other fishermen so that “Then when luck comes you are ready” as the old man thought to himself. This reminded me of the sentence in Churchill’sspeech “Never give up, never, never, never…”. “But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated” has always been inspiring me when I counter with some setbacks in my life. Setbacks are inevitable in pursuit of our goals, but we should never be frustrated and should be “graceful under heavy pressure” like the old man. It is his relentless pursuit that contributes to the victory.《老人与海》英文读后感 11When I read " the senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place..." When, I extremely admire this senior fisherman, because he by now already projected on some fish, but he had not settled to the present situation, but was approaches the bigger goal advance.Again has a look us, usually meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain incessantly. We will be the motherland future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal. When I read " the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fish’s life, it was static static floats on the water surface..." When, my heart also liked together the big stone falls.I extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentless spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above.Just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest success. We also must study senior fisherman’s spirit in life, handles the matterdoes not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain successfully. 《老人与海》英文读后感 12The novel told a story about how the old fisherman Santiago struggled with the sea. Santiago gained a huge fish called Marlin after having drifted in the sea for 84 days. It was a fish that is 2 feet longer than the boat and that had dragged his boat for two days before being stabbed to death. It seemed that the old man wasn’t so successful, because he encountered a sh ark, struggled with the serious environments, even the only spoil——Marlin just left a skeleton. A man can bedestroyed but not be defeated”.《老人与海》英文读后感 13"The old man and the sea" created a classic tough guy image.A man named sangdeya brother Cuban old fisherman,a man fishing alone in the 48 days after, have gained nothing caught a huge marlin. This is the old man never seen nor heard a big fish said his boat was two feet longer than the. Jin also big fish, dragging the boat drift for two days and two nights, the elderly have never experienced a difficult test in this two days and two nights, finally the barb, tied to the bow. But then they met a shark, the old man and the sharks were life-and-death struggle, the big marlin was eaten by sharks, fish skeleton old man finally dragged home only a bare. Why not let the elderly Hemingway final victory? Novel in the words of the elderly: "a person is not born to be defeated","a man can be destroyed, but not defeated." This is the "old man and the sea" to reveal the philosophy. Undeniably,as long as one would have defects. When a person recognizes this shorting and tried to overe it and not go to it,no matter finally caught a full marlin or an empty skeleton, which have not really matter, because a persons life has value in the hunt Marlins in the process of fully embodied. Have their own pursuit of the ideal, struggle,he is not a winner? The old fisherman is wrong and the courage to challenge their own courage and confidence. Secular outlook from the perspective of victory, the old fisherman is not the final winner, because even though he began to beat the big marlin, but eventually the big marlin let sharks eat,he just took the big marlin bones house back to shore, that is to say,the shark is the winner. However,in the eyes of idealists, the old fisherman is a winner, because he has never。

老人与海英语读后感3篇1.老人与海英语读后感篇一In this summer vacation, I read a book called "The Old Man and the Sea". This book is written by the American writer, Ernest. Hemingway wrote about an old man's fishing experience. An old man was fishing alone at sea for 84 days without harvest, but his hope and confidence never disappeared. When he finally caught the sailfish, he found that the fish was too big to accept. Instead of giving up, he tried his best to wrestle with the big fish for two days and nights, and finally stabbed him to death. Unfortunately, the old man was attacked by a shark on his return voyage. He tried his best to fight and was tired to vomit blood. Finally, he only harvested the skeleton of a sailfish. But even so, he did not lose hope and confidence. He is still preparing to go to sea with the boy again, which is the most exciting part of "The Old Man and the Sea". Austerling once said, "This story is a song of praise, which never yields even if the result is nothing, praising the moral triumph of failure.".The story of "The Old Man and the Sea" has great educational significance for us, and it is worth learning and thinking about this spirit of perseverance and striving to fight against fate in our lives.2.老人与海英语读后感篇二The story of "The Old Man and the Sea" is as follows: An old man named Santiago has not caught any fish for 84 days, but he does not lose heart and does not give up. So he went fishing again. This time, the old man caught a big marlin, but on his way back, he was attacked by a shark. The old man fought hard against the shark. Finally, the old man failed and returned home with only a fish with a head, tail, and bare spine left. However, "People are not born for failure, a person can be destroyed, but cannot be defeated!" This is the spirit of the tough guy that this book is about to tell everyone! After reading "The Old Man and the Sea", this indomitable spirit has also influenced me. Once, while jumping on a long rope during a big break, I was jumping in high spirits when I suddenly tripped over the rope and fell to the ground with a "plop" sound, feeling like crying. But at this moment, the shadow of the old man appeared in front of me, and the words he said, "A person can be destroyed, but cannot be defeated," also rang in my ears. So I gritted my teeth and climbed up, although tears were still swirling in my eyes, I endured the pain and joined the team of jumping the long rope again. After reading "The Old Man and the Sea", I know I should learn from the old man's indomitable spirit of never giving up!3.老人与海英语读后感篇三A few days ago, I saw a news that the United States held a very interesting Hemingway imitation competition to commemorate him. So I thought of Hemingway and his "The Old Man and the Sea."."I slowly moved my mouse and drifted on the Atlantic Ocean with the old fisherman. The warm Mexican current brought abundant bait, as well as flocks of fish. It was destined that an unusual event would happen. A huge hooked fish dragged a boat for a few days at sea, escaping while encountering a fight from sharks.". What does a short novel, a special experience, and a simple plot reveal? The love of the old man for children, the sea, and even the fish in the book cannot be ignored. I believe it is sincere. When the shark attacked the fish, his heart ached, but he also understands that inorder to survive, he must not do so. This is life, a life full of contradictions.Isn't that the same with reality? A complex world can never accommodate a simple and innocent heart. Perhaps this world is advancing in contradiction!。

《老人与海》英语读后感篇1Reading the famous American writer Hemingways the old man and the sea made me feel a lot. I admire the fishermans own will in the book, he let me understand a truth: if people have the spirit of perseverance, they can achieve great success.I read the old man and the sea. I was moved by the grandfather in the book. He fought with the sea and the big waves for 85 days. He was a grandfather of Santiago. It is said that all the stories in this book are true. It mainly tells that my grandfather rowed a shabby boat alone and fought with a big fish in the sea, and finally defeated the huge fish. In fact, grandfather is not a great man, in many places are ridiculed, but he ignored, only tolerant. To tell you the truth, we should also be like my grandfather. No matter what we do, we should persevere and never give up halfway. Only in this way can we do everything well.《老人与海》英语读后感篇2"The old man and the sea" is mainly about an old man catching a big fish, but it is dark, he had to spend the night on the boat. But fishy attracted a shark, the old man tried to fight with the shark, he found a steel fork, stabbed at the sharks head, the shark ran away, but the blood attracted more sharks. The old man lifted the big fish and found that the tail of the fish had been eaten, but he was not discouraged and continued to swim to thevillage. When the old man was hungry, he caught some small fish to eat. One day later, he finally returned to the village. People cheered. The old man said that he caught a big fish, but what he caught was a pair of fish bones. Although the old man did not bring the fish back completely, the villagers admired him. After reading, I also admire the old man, his spirit of not abandoning and not giving up, and the old man who insisted on disdaining and did not spend half the way.《老人与海》英语读后感篇3Today, I finished reading the book "the old man and the sea". This book mainly tells about an old man fishing at sea, but he did not catch a fish for times. In fact, after I read this book, I did not fully understand the meaning of the book, so I asked my mother, and my mother told me again, so I understood some. The old man didnt get anything for 84 days, but he didnt give up. He kept cheering himself on. Finally, he decided to go to the deep sea to catch a big fish, so he set out. In the end, although he caught a big fish, he was eaten up by the big shark when he went back, leaving only a huge fish bone. He was very sad. After reading this book, I feel a little sad. I feel sorry for the old man.《老人与海》英语读后感篇4I readwhen I was in junior middle school. At that time I do not know why the old man persists to take dentuso back. It’s so dangerous to fight with sharks. But he did not give up.But now I’m really proud of Santiago. He is so bra一ve and persevering. “But a man is not made for defeat” he said “A man can be destro yed but not defeated.”Santiago was old just as Hemingway said “Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated.” He think every day is a new day. No matter how old he is. He said “It’s better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.”Santiago was poor; he had nothing except a little boat and harpoon. But he said “Now is no time to think of what you do not ha一ve. Think of what you can do with what ther e is.”Santiago was alone. Mandolin can not go to sea with him because of his parents. He catches fishes alone. He fights with sharks alone. He can talk to nobody except himself. No one will help him.But even though he faced hungry; weary and difficulty alone, he does not give up.Somebody said Santiago was a failure. Because at last he said he wishes that it had been a dream and the boy cried for him can really approve it.In this way I think Santiago was a lucky person. Because he still had Mandolin. The boy loved him and pitied him. If Mandolin had no money his own, he begged or stole to make sure that Santiago had enough to eat and fresh baits for his lines. The old man accepts his kindness with humility that was like a quiet kind of pride.I think Santiago is a hero and he is not a failure. Because catch fish is a part of his life and it is the memory of his mind and he catch a really big fish back at last. The value of his life was completely reflected in the way he catch fish. He is the real winner in his own world. After I think about this book and Santiago. I realized thatI’m not bra一ve enough. I can not stay hopeful when I face laugh and indifferent. But the big fish’s meat was already eaten one most, but the old person also charmingly criticized oneself the left hand " this work time actually was resting " time, I also was subdued by the old person optimistic spirit. In the life, some losses are inevitable, we should treat by the optimistic manner, cannot be calculating. Finally, the novel sees by one youth the senior fisherman fully has 18 foot long big marlin in the measure, once more described this fish’s hugeness, explained senior fisherman overcomes the difficulty was big, non- was more common than. The novel eulogized the spirit which the senior fisherman fear hard and dangerous diligently did not struggle, we also should like his such, could not satisfy the present situation, should positively to above, do any matter all is relentless, meets difficultly must welcome difficultly above, could give up halfway in no way. I extremely admire in the novel the senior fishermans will, he let me understand one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain successfully. The novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. Throughout the novella he is made out as a person of motivation, passion, and hope. Despite what others do or do not think he is a man of action, and not one consumed by regret. The young and old villagersa? view of Santiago is an important one, but not a differentiating one.The villagers are split into two groups. The older fishermen that respect Santiago and wish him luck, and the younger fishermen that see him as little more than bad luck. While neither group is particularly important to the plot, each of their views sets an ambiance of Santiagoa?s forthcoming adventure. Without their views Santiago would be little more than a lucky old fisherman.Santiago has a resolute grip upon reality and lives by it. He sees himself as a man with little direction but enough determination and experience to live. He chose not to see what others thought but instead lived by how he perceived the world. His constant struggles and his persistent resolve to overcome the marlin and himself show his earnest desires to live and fish. The boy is a crucial element to Santiagoa?s world. Manolin is always at the edge of Santiagoa?s mind when he thinks of convenience. At times with the fish, Santiago thinks to the boyand then to his own lack of ability. He may deny it, but at times it is his relationship with the boy that both makes him realize he needs help, and compels him to go on.Christian imagery and concepts are important assets to the old fishermana?s personality. He is seen as a kind man, and although expresses his frustration towards certain points, only conveys his anger towards the evil representation of the sharks. His kind, infinite eyes, and he carrying his mast like Jesus and his cross only augment his Christ-like personage. His loneliness and greatness are both shown as Manolin is assigned a new boat after 40 days with Santiago, the same length of time as Christ spent in the wilderness.Santiagoa?s change at the end of the novella turns him into almost a universal hero. By being at sea, his ventures were never limited and the events of the story just seemed to happen. After he rebukes himself for his arrogance with the marlin, Santiago goes home and dreams of the lions playing in Africa, signaling a cycle of a child-like rebirth through Manolin.Throughout the story many aspects can be found about Santiagoa?s personality merely by the content of his 3-day fight with the marlin. The ideology that encompasses the story is only consumed by Santiagoa?s pure will to persevere. Certainly Santiago is a man of many themes and personality traits.I believe that in the past three decades, the way society has treated he elderly has remained primarily the same. Some younger citizens have looked up to the elderly with respect, yet most continue to shun them andconsider them useless and hopeless in a society such as ours.I think that the elderly population is continually losing respect from the new generations. Santiago, the elderly man in the novelThe Old Man and the Sea, is respected by a young boy, Manolin, yet he is also looked down uponby many of the younger fishermen in the Cuban fishing village where he lives. This book is set in the late 1930"s and, I as I see it, shows that societies all around the world have had a decline in respect for the older people in their environment since the beginning of the nineteenth century. An enormous number of issues have changed since Santiago"s time, allowing the elderly to have the ability to do more in their old age and live in areas specifically designed for their needs. However, there is still an enormous lack of respect for the older people in society, and it is becoming worse every day. Younger citizens of our country make fun of older people, call them names, and believe that they are incapable of doing most things that the younger ones are capable of doing. When we believe they can no longer support themselves, we place our elderly relatives into retirement homes and old folks" homes as many call them. Sometimes they, themselves, do not wish to go to such a place, but we force them to, which many times is the wrong choice. Some younger people help the elderly, though, and try to support them, but few of these people can be found. It is a fact that when people get beyond a certain age, their memories begin depleting and they atrophy physically. However, as Santiago shows in the novel, older people have much knowledge about the world around them and enough strength to make it through hard situations if they are determined and have the will and courage to believe in a better tomorrow. In Santiago"s community, it is shown that their is still a natural respect for elders, as is seen in Manolin"s support of the old man. He was one of the dying breed that truly looked up tohis elders and regarded their feelings and experiences with much respect. He greatly aided Santiago by giving him support and courage and helping him through every day chores. Their are still some people with such feelings in the world today, yet many have had their opinions swayed by others and begin to think badly of the elderly.Their is also a lack of respect for Santiago and the elderly in the novel, which can be found in the actions of the young fisherman. Some laugh at him when he passed by, and some thought of him to be too old to be a fisherman. They believed he was not in good enough shape to catch a fish, yet it was only his bad luck that deterred him from doing such a thing. He was much better and more exact than most of the other fisherman in the village, yet they could not see past his age to view his accomplishments.I think the false beliefs about the weakness of the elderly can be turned around only if society looks much harder at their abilities and their goals. We must begin to see that although they may not have great physical strength, they still have a mind that is capable of many things. Their are many jobs that they can hold in the workplace and many things they can do to help society of which we, the younger generation, are not aware. We must realize that they have gone through many experiences that we have not and that they hold a vast amount of knowledge about the world around them. There will come a time when one"s age does not determine the value of one"s life, but we can change that dream to reality only if we try.《老人与海》英语读后感篇10这是部浪漫又现实的爱情。

《老人与海》读后感英文版The Impressions of "The Old Man and the Sea""The Old Man and the Sea" is a masterpiece written by Ernest Hemingway, a renowned American novelist This novella has left a profound mark on my heart and mind, evoking a plethora of thoughts and emotionsThe story centers around an aging fisherman named Santiago, who has gone through an arduous and solitary struggle at sea Despite his advanced age and repeated setbacks, Santiago refuses to give up His perseverance and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity are truly inspiringSantiago's character is one of the most captivating aspects of the story He is not only physically tough but also mentally resilient His determination to catch a big fish is not driven by material gain but by his inner pride and the pursuit of his dignity as a fisherman He endures hunger, thirst, and extreme fatigue, yet he never wavers in his belief that he will succeed This kind of unyielding spirit makes me reflect on my own life How often do we give up easily when faced with difficulties? How often do we lose our courage and determination when encountering setbacks? Santiago teaches us that as long as we have a goal and the will to persevere, we can overcome any obstacleThe description of the sea in the book is also very impressive The sea is both beautiful and cruel It is the stage where Santiago showcases his skills and courage, but it also brings him endless challenges and dangers The seasymbolizes life itself, full of uncertainties and surprises Sometimes it is calm and peaceful, while at other times it is stormy and terrifying Just like in our lives, we never know what lies ahead, but we must have the courage to face itThe relationship between Santiago and the marlin he catches is a complex and profound one The marlin is not just a fish but a worthy opponent Santiago respects it even as he strives to overcome it This shows that in the pursuit of our goals, we should not only have the determination to win but also respect our opponents and the process itself Victory is not the only thing that matters; the journey and the lessons we learn along the way are equally importantAnother aspect that strikes me is the theme of loneliness Santiago spends most of his time alone at sea, with only his thoughts and the vast ocean for company This kind of loneliness is not only physical but also mental However, he does not succumb to it but uses it as an opportunity to reflect on his life and strengthen his resolve In today's fastpaced and noisy world, we often fear loneliness and try to avoid it But perhaps, as Santiago shows us, loneliness can be a source of strength and selfdiscoveryThe ending of the story is both tragic and hopeful Santiago returns to shore with only the skeleton of the marlin, having lost the majority of the fish to sharks But he has gained something more precious the respect of others and a deeper understanding of life This ending reminds us that success is not always measured by the outcome but by the effort and growth we experience in the processIn conclusion, "The Old Man and the Sea" is not just a story about fishing but a profound exploration of human nature, perseverance, and the meaning of life It has taught me to never give up in the face of difficulties, to respect my opponents and the journey, and to find strength in loneliness This book is a timeless classic that will continue to inspire generations to come。

The Old Man and the SeaThe old man and the sea which was written by Ernest Hemingway who won the Nobel Prize for Literature and the Pulitzer Prize. It served to reinvigorate Hemingway's literary reputation and prompted a reexamination of his entire body of work. The novella was initially received with much popularity; it restored many readers' confidence in Hemingway's capability as an author. This book gives me a deep impression especially the description about the man’s braveness and persistence. The novel tells us a story: an old man named Santiago in Cuba who was a fisherman. He had been fishing hard in the Gulf Stream for 84 days but got nothing. In the previous days a boy named Manolin was fallowing him as a company, but the kind boy was force to leave the old man by his parents who thought that the old man was unlucky. Santiago went fishing alone in the eighty-fifth day and got a big fish which fully has 18 foot length in the measure. However, on the way back a shark came and ate the marlin. Lastly, the marlin left only a skeleton. The book is a fable describing the unconquerable spirit of the old man--How he take in the spiritual victory from the circumstance that is full of disasters. Hemingway seems to believe that there are only two options: defeat or endurance until destruction; Santiago clearly chooses the latter. His stoic determination is mythic, nearly Christ-like in proportion. He didn't give the old man the success, but fortitude and resilience to face the pressure. The value of his life was completely reflected in the way he catch fish. He is the real winner in his own world. He is an ordinary fisherman, as well as a hero. And he is made out as a person of motivation, passion, and hope.Santiago was old just as Hemingway said, “Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated. ”He think every day is a new day. No matter how old he is. He said , “It s better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.”He was poor; he had nothing except a little boat and harpoon. But he said , “Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.”Santiago is a man with little direction but enough determination and experience to live. He chose not to see what others thought but lived by how he perceived the world. He overcame the marlin with his constant struggles and persistent and he showed his earnest desires to live and fish. Throughout the story many aspects can be found about Santiago’s personality merely in the content of his 3-day fight against the marlin. Certainly Santiago is a man of many themes and personality traits. He is respected by a young boy, Manolin, yet he is looked down upon by many of the younger fishermen in the Cuban fishing village where he lives. Some people laugh at him when he passed by, and some thought of him to be too old to be a fisherman. They didn’t believe he was able to catch a fish. But he was much better and more exact than most of the other fisherman in the village.Santiago was alone. He catches fishes alone. He fights against sharks alone. He can talk to nobody except himself. No one will help him. Even though he faced hungry, weary and difficulty alone, he does not give up and never feel lonely because his willingness is so strong. And he was approached in an ideal trip. "I fight you to death" , a tough voice. Although he knew it was very difficult to beat the big marlin, but he still did not give up. It shows his heroism and the strength of his tenacious trend. I extremely admire the fisherman's willingness. He lets me understand one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain what he wants successfully. "The senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place... ". He had not settled to the present situation, but was approaching the bigger goal. When I read " the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leap the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fish's life, it was static floats on the water surface... ",I extremely admire the relentless spirit of old man. Although he knew the difficulty is very strong and hard, but he did not slightly flinch. Santiago lives according to his own observation: “man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” It is the most well-known sentence of this novel. These words become belief of many readers. In my opinion, the whole story is about a battle between an old man and the sea, both of which are considered to have symbolic meanings according to critics. The old man once was so energetic and strong but couldn’t get harvest from the sea. He used his old body and strong mind to fight against nature and challenge his fate. He got the large fish, but he lost totally because he carried back only the skeleton of the fish with his hands bleeding. However, he had done all he could to fight against all unlucky things and didn’t lose his face. He behaved like a real man, a tough man. That’s what’s most important in a battle. When he met difficulty, he welcomes difficulty. A person shouldn't fear but accept the defeat with pleasure.I think we can study senior fisherman's spirit in life and learn to be tough and brave like him when facing with hard times in our life, which is the best solution we should choose in a bad situation. Sharks may be seen as a hit that made the success and happiness loss. But, as the child said, "It does not beat you, it does not." We need not fear the difficulty and we should handle the matter, then we can obtain a bigger success and the victory.
