The ancient name of Sanya is Yazhou(崖 州).Some prime ministers in various dynasties were exiled(流放，充军)there and a monk(僧侣) named.Jianzhen（鉴真） accidentally sailed（航行，驾驶） there and used the place as one of his harbors(海港) for his long Buddhist(佛教 的) missionary(传教士) journey to Japan.
