【英语】高二英语阅读理解题20套(带答案)一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解The noise of chattering mouths subsided(平息)as the teacher entered classroom. “Good morning class. I am Riffat Monaf, and I will be your geography teacher.” Riffat Monaf, an interesting name and an even more interesting person. Her introduction took place about six years ago, and since then I have never met a more influential person in my life.Mrs Monaf not only conquered me with her vast knowledge of geography, but also won me over with her smile and warm eyes. It was in her class that I traveled to the highest mountains and to the deepest seas from the comfort of the classroom. I learned about the vast oceans, the erupting volcanoes, the snow-capped mountains and the green valleys. She would often relate her adventures about traveling to different parts of the world.Never can I forget the glory of her face when she talks about how truly beautiful this world is. If I search back my love for the environment and geography, I find her to be the source of my love for preserving nature. If one day I became an environmentalist, I know that I'll thank her for it. Apart from this, she has always greeted me with open arms and she calls her students “my children”. Mrs Monaf's morals and values rubbed off me deeply and I have always taken her advice into consideration. She has been one of the most consistently good things in my life.Currently, she is fighting a battle against breast cancer, and it pains me to know that after all she has done for me; I can do nothing for her except pray. Whenever I see her in school, she still keeps that kind smile and an expression so soft that it trembles my heart. Mrs Monaf still talks enthusiastically about geography, and I know that I can never see what a truly great person she has been in my life. .(1)What can we learn from the second paragraph?A. The writer traveled a lot.B. Mrs Monaf was a learned person.C. The writer did well at school.D. 一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解It started during a yoga class. She felt a strange pull on her neck, a feeling completely foreign to her. Her friend suggested she rush to the emergency room. It turned out that she was having a heart attack. She didn't share similar symptoms with someone who was likely to have a heart attack. She exercised, watched her plate and did not smoke. But on reviewing her medical history, I found that her cholesterol (胆固醇) level was sky-high. She had been prescribed a cholesterol-lowering statin (他汀) medication, but she never picked up the prescription because of the scary things she had read about statins on the Internet. She was the victim of fake medical news. While misinformation has been the object of great attention in politics, medical misinformation might lead to an increase in deaths. As is true with fake news in general, medical lies tend to spread further than truths on the Internet—and they have very real bad consequences.False medical information can also lead to patients experiencing greater side effects through the "nocebo effect (反安慰剂效应) ". Sometimes patients benefit from an intervention (干预) simply because they believe they will—that's the placebo effect (安慰剂效应). The nocebo effect is the opposite. Patients can experience harmful effects because they anticipate them. This is very true of statins. In blinded trials, patients who get statins are no more likely to report feeling muscle aches than patients who get a placebo. Yet, in clinical practice, according to one study, almost a fifth of patients taking statins report side effects, leading many to discontinue the drugs. What else is on the fake news hit list? As always, vaccines (疫苗) . False concerns that the vaccine may cause side effects have greatly reduced coverage rates.Cancer is another big target for pushers of medical misinformation—many of whom refuse alternative therapies. "Though most people think cancer tumors are bad, they're actually the way your body attempts to contain the harmful cells," one fake news story reads. It warns that prescription medications lead to the uncontrolled cell mutations (变异) .Silicon Valley needs to face this problem. I am not a free-speech lawyer, but when human health is at risk, perhaps search engines, social media platforms and websites should be held responsible for promoting or hosting fake information. Meanwhile, journalists should do a better job of spreading accurate information.(1)We can learn from Paragraph 2 that ________.A. the woman paid little attention to her daily dietsB. the unhealthy lifestyle might lead to the woman's heart attackC. the symptom of the heart attack was familiar to the womanD. the woman didn't take the prescription due to fake medical news(2)According to the passage, the placebo effect functions because patients ________. A. neglect necessary treatment B. discontinue the harmful drugsC. believe the benefits of an interventionD. suffer more side effects(3)What does the author mean by claiming that "he is not a free-speech lawyer" in the lastparagraph?A. He is a lawyer very easy to speak to.B. He is good at speaking because of his job.C. He is available to give a speech on the law.D. He is very cautious when speaking something(4)The main purpose of the passage is to ________.A. remind us to take medication as prescribedB. warn us against fake medical news on the InternetC. encourage journalists to report more positive news eventsD. teach us how to distinguish fake medical news on the Internet【答案】(1)D(2)C(3)D(4)B【解析】【分析】本文是一篇议论文,通过举例来论证了网络谣言,尤其是关于药物的网络谣言有巨大的杀伤力。

一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Shark attacks not only disturb beach activities, but can affect associated tourist industries. Shark nets are a common solution to preventing shark attacks on beaches, but they cause dangers to sea ecosystems.Seeking a cost-effective way to monitor beach safety over large areas, we have developed a system called Shark Spotter. It combines artificial intelligence (AI), computing power, and drone (无人机) technology to identify and warn lifesavers to sharks near swimmers. The project is a cooperation between the University of Technology Sydney and The Ripper Group, which is pioneering the use of drones—called "Westpac Little Ripper Lifesavers"—in the search and rescue movement in Australia.SharkSpotter can detect sharks and other potential threats using real-time aerial imagery. The system analyses video from a camera attached to a drone to monitor beaches for sharks, send warnings, and conduct rescues. Developed with techniques known as "deep learning", the Shark Spotter system receives imagery from the drone camera and attempts to identify all objects in the scene. Once certain objects are detected, they are put into one of 16 categories: shark, whale, dolphin, rays, different types of boats, surfers, and swimmers. If a shark is detected, Shark Spotter provides both a visual sign on the computer screen and an audible warning to the operator. The operator confirms the warning and sends text messages from the Shark Spotter system to the Surf Life Savers for further action. In an emergency, the drone is equipped with a lifesaving flotation pod (漂浮仓) together with an electronic shark repellent (驱逐装置) that can be dropped into the water in cases where swimmers are in severe trouble, trapped in a rip, or if there are sharks close by.In January 2018, the Westpac Little Ripper Lifesavers was used to rescue two young swimmers caught in a rip at Lennox Head, NSW. The drone flew down the beach some 800 meters from the lifeguard station, and a lifesaving flotation pod was dropped from the drone. The complete rescue operation took 70 seconds. We believe Shark Spotter is a win-win for both marine life and beachgoers. This unique technology combines dynamic video image processing AI and advanced drone technology to creatively deal with the global challenge of ensuring safe beaches, protecting environments, and promoting tourism.(1)A Shark Spotter is ________.A. a solution to monitor sharksB. an equipment to identify lifesaversC. a technology to prevent shark attacksD. a project to pioneer the use of drones(2)When a shark is spotted near a swimmer, the system will ________.A. take timely actionB. analyze the visual dataC. classify the identified objectsD. turn on "deep learning" mode(3)The example in the 5th paragraph shows us that the system is ________.A. efficient in saving livesB. effective in detecting sharksC. smart in driving sharks awayD. practical over the whole sea area(4)What is the author's attitude towards the future of SharkSpotter?A.Doubtful.B.Optimistic.C.Negative.D.Objective.【答案】(1)C(2)A(3)A(4)B【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了一种旨在防止鲨鱼袭击的技术Shark Spotter 的工作原理以及重要意义。

【英语】高二英语阅读理解真题汇编(含答案)及解析一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Science is finally beginning to embrace animals who were, for a long time, considered second-class citizens. As Annie Potts of Canterbury University has noted, chickens distinguish among one hundred chicken faces and recognize familiar individuals even after months of separation. When given problems to solve, they reason: hens trained to pick colored buttons sometimes choose to give up an immediate food reward for a slightly later (and better) one. Healthy hens may aid friends, and mourn when those friend die.Pigs respond meaningful to human symbols. When a research team led by Candace Croney at Penn State University carried wooden blocks marked with X and O symbols around pigs, only the O carriers offered food to the animals. The pigs soon ignored the X carriers in favor of the O's. Then the team switched from real-life objects to T-shirts printed with X or O symbols. Still, the pigs walked only toward the O-shirted people: they had transferred their knowledge to a two-dimensional format, a not inconsiderable feat of reasoning.I've been guilty of prejudiced expectations, myself. At the start of my career almost four decades ago, I was firmly convinced that monkeys and apes out-think and out-feel other animals. They're other primates(灵长目动物), after all, animals from our own mammalian(灵长目动物) class. Fairly soon, I came to see that along with our closest living relatives, whales too are masters of cultural learning, and elephants express profound joy and mourning with their social companions. Long-term studies in the wild on these mammals helped to fuel a viewpoint shift in our society: the public no longer so easily accepts monkeys made to undergo painful procedure in laboratories, elephants forced to perform in circuses, and dolphins kept in small tanks at theme parks.Over time, though, as I began to broaden out even further and explore the inner lives of fish, chickens, pigs, goats, and cows, 1 started to wonder: Will the new science of "food animals" bring an ethical (伦理的) revolution in terms of who we eat? In other words, will our ethics start to catch up with the development of our science?Animal activists are already there, of course, committed to not eating these animals. But what about the rest of us? Can paying attention to the thinking and feeling of these animals lead us to make changes in who we eat?(1)According to Annie Potts, hens have the ability of .A. interactionB. analysisC. creationD. abstraction(2)The research into pigs shows that pigs .A. learn letters quicklyB. have a good eyesightC. can build up a good relationshipD. can apply knowledge to new situations(3)Paragraph 4 is mainly about .A. the similarities between mammals and humansB. the necessity of long-term studies on mammalsC. a change in people's attitudes towards animalsD. a discovery of how animals expressthemselves(4)What might be the best title for the passage?A. One approach to make this whole process easier? Pair students up with an adviser. That's the idea behind CollegePoint, an initiative to help gifted students go to schools that match their intellectual(智力的)ability. When a high school student takes a standardized test—the PSAT, SAT or ACT——and they score in the 90th percentile, and their families make less than$80, 000 a year, they get an email from the program offering them a free adviser. The advisers listen, guide and answer students'questions.Connor Rechtzigel, an adviser in Minnesota, sees the importance of his role, for research shows that low-income students are far more likely to undermatch because they don't think they have what it takes to get in and because many don't even know what schools are out there. He helped high school senior Justice Benjamin, the first in his family to apply to college, think about what his ideal learning experience was. Finally, Justice narrowed in on smaller schools where he could study environmental science and made his final choice:Skidmore College in New York. He felt empowered by the process.Figuring out how to pay for college is a major part of what, CollegePoint advisers do. Nakhle, an adviser in North Carolina, is working with Hensley, an Ohio high school senior who can't get extra financial help from her family. They spent a lot of time comparing and analyzing her financial-aid award letters, which made her decision much clearer. Finally, the Ohio State University offered an option where she would pay nothing. Staying in-state wasn't her first choice, but it was the best option for her.(1)What is the second paragraph mainly about?A.How CollegePoint works.B.The goal of CollegePoint.C.Ways to apply for a free adviser.D.The challenge of choosing colleges.(2)What prevents low-income students from attending proper colleges?A.Overestimating their abilities.B.Knowing little about colleges.ck of enough learning experience.D.Failure to get support from their families.(3)Why did Hensley finally choose the Ohio State University?A.She didn't want to stay far from home.B.Her favorite major was provided there.C.She would show her talents to the full.D.The university met her financial needs.(4)What is the best title for the text?A.How to Be a Financial AdviserB.Steps for Top Students to Select Ideal CollegesC.Advisers Help Poor Students Apply to Suitable CollegesD.CollegePoint—a Program Helping Students Score High【答案】(1)A(2)B(3)D(4)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了一款帮助贫困家庭的优秀生申请合适大学的虚拟建议程序。

I had made great efforts to write when I camehome at night after work, but I was too tired. I decided to quit my job.I began my new life on a February morning. I sat down at my kitchen table at 7:30 am andmade a resolution. Every day I would write until lunchtime. Then I would lie down on the floorfor 20 minutes to rest my mind. (英语)高二英语阅读理解试题(有答案和解析)含解析一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解If you want to convince the boss you deserve a pay rise or promotion, the solution could be simple — eat the same food as they do. Psychologists have discovered managers are much more likely to instantly trust us if we choose the same dishes as them.During experiments, discussions over wages and work conditions were much more successful if both sides chose to snack on the same treats. And shoppers were much more likely to buy a product advertised on TV by someone eating a similar food to them at the time. The reason is thought to be so-called similarity attraction theory — where people tend to like others who have similar tastes or habits to themselves. But this is believed to be one of the first studies highlighting the role of food in this relationship. Researchers at Chicago University in theUS conducted a series of experiments to examine food's role in earning trust. In a test, participants were told to watch TV — where someone pretending to be a member ofthe public praised a certain product. The volunteers were given Kit Kat bars to nibble (咬), whilethe TV people ate either a Kit Kat or grapes as they talked. The results showed viewers were much more likely to express an interest in buying the productif the TV showed the other person eating a Kit Kat too.The researchers added, “Although similarity in food consumption is not a sign of whether two people will get along, we find consumers treat this as such. They feel more trusting of those who consume as they do. It means people can immediately begin to feel friendship and develop a bond, leading to smoother transactions (交易) from the start.”Harley Street psychologist Dr. Lucy Atcheson said it was already known that wearing similar clothes could instantly create trust. But this was the first report that food had the same effect. She said, “This is really interesting. It makes sense as people feel they have common ground andcan trust the other person. That means negotiations are more likely to be successfu l.”(1)According to the passage, customers are likely to buy a product from a dealer who ______.A. has the same taste as themB. advertises his products on TVC. reduces the price of his productsD. pays attention to the quality of his products(2)The experiments conducted by researchers at Chicago University show that ______.A. food plays an important role in earning people's trustB. bosses like employees that havethe same taste as themC. people who have similar tastes to their boss's earn moreD. people have less interest in buying products advertised on TV(3)What can be inferred from the passage?A. 高二英语高中英语阅读理解练习试题
一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解The new social robots, including Jibo, Cozmo, Kuri and Meccano M.A.X., bear some resemblance to assistants like Apple's Siri, but these robots come with something more. They are designed to win us over not with their smarts but with their personality. They are sold as companions that do more than talk to us. Time magazine hailed (称赞) the robots that "could fundamentally reshape how we interact with machines." But is reshaping how we interact with machines a good thing, especially for children? Some researchers in favor of the robots don't see a problem with this. People have relationships with many kinds of things. Some say robots are just another thing with which we can have relationships. To support their argument, roboticists sometimes point to how children deal with toy dolls. Children animate (赋予…生命) dolls and turn them into imaginary friends. Jibo, in a sense, will be one more imaginary friend, and arguably a more intelligent and fun one.Getting attached to dolls and sociable machines is different, though. Today's robots tell children that they have emotions, friendships, even dreams to share. In reality, the whole goal of the robots is emotional trickery. For instance, Cozmo the robot needs to be fed, repaired and played with. Boris Sofman, the chief executive of Anki, the company behind Cozmo, says that the idea is to create "a deeper and deeper emotional connection ... And if you neglect him, you feel the pain of that." What is the point of this, exactly? What does it mean to feel the pain of neglecting something that feels no pain at being neglected, or to feel anger at being neglected by something that doesn't even know it is neglecting you? This should not be our only concern. It is troubling that these robots try to empathize with children. Empathy allows us to put ourselves in the place of others, to know what they are feeling. Robots, however, have no emotions to share, and they cannot put themselves in our place. No matter what robotic creatures "say" or squeak, they don't understand our emotional lives. They present themselves as empathy machines, but they are missing the essential equipment. They have not been born, they don't know pain, or death, or fear. Robot thinking may be thinking, but robot feeling is never feeling, and robot love is never love. What is also troubling is that children take robots' behavior to indicate feelings. When the robots interact with them, children take this as evidence that the robots like them, and when robots don't work when needed, children also take it personally. Their relationships with the robots affect their self-esteem (自尊). In one study, an 8-year-old boy concluded that the robot stopped talking to him because the robot liked his brothers better. For so long, we dreamed of artificial intelligence offering us not only simple help but conversation and care. Now that our dream is becoming real, it is time to deal with the emotional downside of living with robots that "feel."(1)How are the new social robots different from Siri?A. They are intended to teach children how to talk.B. They are designed to attract people with their smarts.C. Their main function is to evaluate children's personality.D. They have a new way to communicate with human beings.(2)In Paragraph 3 Cozmo is used as an example to show that the social robots ______.A. are deeply connected with human beingsB. are unable to build a real relationship with childrenC. are so advanced that they can feel the pain of human beingsD. are not good enough to carry out the instructions of children(3)The underlined phrase "essential equipment" in Paragraph 4 refers to ______.A. emotionB. painC. fearD. thinking(4)Which of the following shows the development of ideas in the passage?I: Introduction P: Point Sp: Sub-point (次要点) C: ConclusionA. (英语)高二英语阅读理解试题经典含解析
(英语)高二英语阅读理解试题经典含解析一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解We want our children to succeed, in school and, perhaps even more importantly, in life. But the paradox(悖论) is that our children can only truly succeed if they first learn how to fail. Consider the finding that world-class figure skaters fall over more often in practice than low-level figure skaters. At first sight this seems contradictory. Why are the really good skaters falling over the most? The reason is actually quite simple. Top skaters are constantly challenging themselves in practice, attempting jumps that stretch their limitations. This is why they fall over so often, but it is precisely why they learn so fast. Lower-level skaters have a quite different approach. They are always attempting jumps they can already do very easily, remaining within their comfort zone. This is why they don't fall over. In a superficial sense, they look successful, because they are always on their feet. The truth, however, is that by never failing, they never progress. What is true of skating is also true of life. James Dyson worked through 5,126 failed prototypes(原型) for his dual cyclone vacuum before coining up with the design that made his fortune. These failures were essential to the pathway of learning. As Dyson put it: “You can't develop new technology unless you test new ideas and learn when things go wrong. Failure is essential to invention.”In healthcare, however, things are very different. Clinicians don't like to admit to failure, partly because they have healthy egos(自我)(particularly the senior doctors) and partly because they fear litigation(诉讼). The consequence is that instead of learning from failure, healthcare often covers up failure. The direct consequence is that the same mistakes are repeated. According to the Journal of Patient Safety, 400,000 people die every year in American hospitals alone due to preventable error. Until healthcare learns to respond positively to failure, things will not improve. But let us return to children. One of the major mistakes in education in the 1970s was the attempt to equip children with confidence by giving them lots of successes (setting the bar very low). The consequence was that the ego of kids became bound up with success, and they became unable to take risks and collapsed as soon as they hit a proper challenge. We need to flip(翻转) this approach. In a complex world, failure is inevitable. It is those individuals and institutions that have the flexibility to face up to failure, learn the lessons and adapt which eventually excel(突出).(1)The question raised in the first paragraph is to ________.A. open up a discussion on the topicB. analyze the reason for successC. express the author's oppositionD. doubt the abilities of the top skaters(2)Which of the following is the structure of the passage?A. B. C. D.(3)What would be the best title for the passage?A. How we can avoid failure in lifeB. What we should learn from failureC. Why failure is the key to flying highD. Where we further improve ourselves【答案】(1)A(2)A(3)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇议论文,论证了“失败是孩子成功的必须条件”这一观点。

高二英语阅读理解(人生百味)专项训练100(附答案)及解析一、高中英语阅读理解人生百味类1.阅读理解Experts note that an unhealthy lifestyle can put you at great risk of heart disease and stroke. So doctors urge us to eat healthy foods, get exercise, stop smoking and limit our alcohol intake. But there is something else you can do. And it is free and easy. Smile!Dr. Chockalingam, a heart disease specialist in Columbia, advises his patients to smile. He says a smile may be one way to help your heart. "When we smile, the brain wiring changes. The chemicals that are released are more positive." He says smiling is the first step in fighting physical and emotional stress and its sometimes harmful effects on human health. This is not just New Age advice. Several studies support his opinion. When you feel stressed or under pressure, your body releases many natural hormones (荷尔蒙) including adrenaline and cortisol. Adrenaline increases your heart rate and blood pressure. Cortisol is the body's main stress hormone. It increases sugar in the bloodstream. If you are truly in danger, these hormones can help you. They are part of what we call our fight-or-flight response. However, when we are stressed for a long period, these stress hormones are ever-present in our bodies. And that, medical researchers warn, may lead to health problems.Researchers say the connection between stress and heart disease is still unclear. However, they claim that when people are stressed for long periods of time, they may have an unhealthy lifestyle, which can lead to health problems.Dr. Chockalingam says a smile may be one way to help. He tells his patients to smile 20 times an hour. To some, that might seem like a lot of smiling. Or some might even feel foolish ... smiling for seemingly no reason. But a smile does not involve drugs. It is not invasive like a surgical operation. It is free and it has no bad side effects."Once people smile, they are relaxing. This relaxation directly lowers blood pressure, improves sugar levels in the blood. If we are smiling, we are breaking that link between stress and health." And it just may provide a little extra protection to everyone's heart health.(1)Which of the following agrees with Dr. Chockalingam's opinion?A.Smile has the same effects as laughter.B.Smile can be used to take the place of medicine.C.Smile is better than any healthy lifestyle to health.D.Smile can make our body produce beneficial chemicals.(2)What can we know about the mentioned stress hormones?A.They can lower our blood pressure.B.They will surely lead to heart diseases.C.They can benefit us when we are in danger.D.They will make us live an unhealthy lifestyle.(3)Why does Dr. Chockalingam think smiling is helpful to our health?A.It can make us relax.B.It increases sugar levels.C.It has little bad side effects.D.It can happen for no reason.(4)What can be the best title for the text?A.A Thorough Analysis of the Causes of Heart DiseasesB.One Thing You Can Do Right Now to Help Your HeartC.One Thing That Is Closely Connected with Stress HormonesD.The Clear Connection Between Unhealthy Lifestyles and Heart Diseases【答案】(1)D(2)C(3)A(4)B【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,哥伦比亚的心脏病专家Chockalingam博士建议多保持微笑,他认为微笑可能是帮助心脏的一种方式。

高中英语阅读理解经典试题(含答案)
一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Recently, as the British doctor Robert Winston took a train from London to Manchester, he found himself becoming steadily angry. A woman had picked up her phone and begun a loud conversation, which would last an unbelievable hour. Furious, Winston began to tweet about the woman. He took her picture and sent it to his more than 40,000 followers. When the train arrived at its destination, Winston rushed out. He'd had enough of the woman's rudeness. But the press were now waiting for her on the platform. And when they showed her Winston's messages, she used just one word to describe Winston's actions: rude.Winston's tale is something of a microcosm(缩影) of our age of increasing rudeness, fueled by social media. What can we do to fix this?Studies have shown that rudeness spreads quickly, almost like the common cold. Just witnessing rudeness makes it far more likely that we, in turn, will be rude later on. The only way to avoid it is to deal with it face to face. We must say, "Just stop." For Winston, that would have meant approaching the woman, telling her that her conversation was frustrating other passengers and politely asking her to speak more quietly or make the call at another time. The rage and injustice we feel at the rude behavior of a stranger can drive us to do odd things. In my own research, surveying 2,000 adults, I discovered that the acts of revenge people had taken ranged from the ridiculous to the disturbing. Winston did shine a spotlight on the woman's behavior — but from afar, in a way that shamed her.We must instead combat rudeness head on. When we see it occur in a store, we must step up and say something. If it happens to a colleague, we must point it out. We must defend strangers in the same way we'd defend our best friends. But we can do it with grace, by handling it without a trace of aggression and without being rude ourselves. Because once rude people can see their actions through the eyes of others, they are far more likely to end that strain themselves. As this tide of rudeness rises, civilization needs civility.(1)What can you learn about Robert Winston from the passage?A. He knows how to speak to rude people.B. He behaved improperly and spoke loudly on the train.C. He lost his temper due to other people's rudeness.D. He reacted to a woman's rude behavior wrongly.(2)What does "fueled by social media" mean in Paragraph 3?A. Rude behavior is common on social media.B. Rudeness can be avoided through social media.C. People can easily get away through social media.D. Social media may spread and cause rudeness.(3)According to the writer, how should you respond when you meet rude people?A. Record them and post it on the Internet.B. Point it out in a polite and skillful way.C. Do nothing but wait for other people to fix it.D. Pay them back by doing equally disturbing things.(4)Which of the following statement is true about the last paragraph?A. We can only point out rudeness from familiar people.B. Rudeness and manners can hardly coexist in civilized society.C. Both strangers and acquaintances deserve our friendly warning.D. Rude people can't see their rudeness through others' eyes.【答案】(1)D(2)D(3)B(4)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文,作者通过温斯特对打电话这位粗鲁的女士曝光在媒体上的不当行为,提出了我们要用礼貌而巧妙的方式指出来生活中粗鲁的行为。

一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解One of my favorite hobbies is exchanging old-fashioned, paper-with-a-stamp-on-it postcards with random strangers around the world. The Postcrossing Project was created by Paulo Magalhaes in 2005. He liked getting mails—especially postcards. He thought others did, too—but how could he connect with them? That's when he came up with the idea of an online platform (): There, postcard lovers like me can sign up to send a postcard to someone who has registered online, and receive a postcard in return.Along with a randomly selected address, participants get a unique code to put on the postcard. When the postcard arrives, the recipient registers that code with the site, which then causes the sender's address to be given to another postcrosser in turn. In practice, this means that for nearly every postcard I send (a few get lost in the mail) I get one back. And since I never know who will send me a card or where in the world they live, every trip to the mailbox holds the potential for a wonderful surprise.Privacy-conscious Americans might worry about sharing their address with strangers overseas. But postcrossers are friendly, polite, respectful folks—in more than 450 cards exchanged, I've yet to have a bad experience. On days when the international news is depressing, postcrossing is my comfort. There's nothing like getting a card from a child in China just learning to write in English, or a grandmother in Belarus describing her most recent gardening success to remind me that we truly are members of one global family, far more similar than we are different. It seems like such a small thing to send out a postcard. But as travel and communication technology continue to shrink the world, it's important to remember that it isn't just for diplomats and politicians to represent our country anymore. All of us have the power—and perhaps the responsibility—to be ambassadors, to show the best of your country to the world. And it's good to know that what you need to accomplish this is not necessarily complicated or expensive. It can be as simple as a postcard.(1)Why did Paulo set up ?A. To discuss personal hobbies with strangers.B. To exchange postcards with others in the worldC. To collect different postcards from other countries.D. To provide a platform for communication online.(2)According to the passage, postcrossers __________.A. don't know who will send them postcardsB. are sure to get a postcard back immediatelyC. often choose a receiver's address carefullyD. register every postcard they receive online (3)What did the writer learn from postcrossing?A. The international news is usually depressing.B. Americans are more conscious about privacy.C. Postcrossers sometimes describe their bad experience.D. The whole world is actually a big family.(4)What does the underlined word "this" refer to?A. Choosing a diplomat to represent a country.B. Having the responsibility to be an ambassador.C. Showing the best of your country.D. Shrinking the world with communication technology.【答案】(1)B(2)A(3)D(4)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇应用文,介绍了网站,一个可以让世界各地的陌生人交换老式的、带有邮票的明信片的网站,由Paulo Magalhaes 在2005年创立。

(英语)高二英语阅读理解(人生百味)模拟试题含解析一、高中英语阅读理解人生百味类1.阅读理解A few years back I worked in a university building that also housed a department full of psychologists, all of whom seemed to see us as perfect guinea pigs(豚鼠) for their latest theories. If an eager graduate student showed up in my office bearing desserts and asked me to pick one, I'd cast a careful glance and ask "Why?" before grabbing the apple pie.So one day, when someone from the Psychology Department posted instructions in the bathroom persuading all of us to "Think about five things for which you're grateful every day for a week!" my response was frankly doubtful. I did the math. Five things a day for seven days is a lot of brainpower to expend without so much as the promise of an apple pie.I wandered into the office of Heidi Zetzer, the director of our school's Psychological Services Clinic. "What's with the gratitude thing?" I asked. You don't ask an academic question-even a simple one unless you're prepared for a long answer. Heidi came alive, and I sat down. That's when I first heard the term "positive psychology". The gratitude thing, as I had called it, was but one small and simple element of the practice. "Kind of like training the brain to focus on joy," my friend Heidi explained. "It's only a week," she urged. "Try it." I did. And guess what? It worked. Every day for a week, I found five distinct things for which I was thankful. They had to be different every day. I couldn't get away with just being grateful for my wonderful husband. But I could, suggested Collie Conoley, another positive psychologist, express my gratitude for specific aspects of a certain person each day. He's a great cook. He always puts our family first.Life will never be perfect. I still see new stories that annoy me. The traffic in my city is maddening. I wish I could speed up my recovery. But with just one simple exercise, I'm rediscovering the peace of that old saying: accepting the things I can't change, working without complaint to change what I can, and being wise enough to know the difference. And all it took was a little gratitude.(1)What's the author's attitude toward the student with desserts?A. Cautious.B. Respectful.C. Indifferent.D. Supportive.(2)Why was the author doubtful about the instructions?A. Because she thought it wasn't worth the effort.B. Because she didn't like expressing thanks often.C. Because she needed to ask her friend to do it first.D. Because she could do five things every day easily.(3)What does Collie Conoley suggest the author should do?A. Be grateful to her wonderful husband.B. Be thankful for things but not people.C. Be a great cook and put her family first.D. Be specific about what she's thankful for.(4)What's the best title for the text?A. Don't Be Bothered by Small ThingsB. 一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Suppose you become a leader in an organization. It's very likely that you'll want to have volunteers to help with the organization's activities. To do so, it should help to understand why people undertake volunteer work and what keeps their interest in the work.Let's begin with the question of why people volunteer. Researchers have identified several factors that motivate people to get involved. For example, people volunteer to express personal values related to unselfishness, to expand their range of experiences, and to strengthen social relationships. If volunteer positions do not meet these needs, people may not wish to participate. To select volunteers, you may need to understand the motivations of the people you wish to attract.People also volunteer because they are required to do so. To increase levels of community service, some schools have launched compulsory volunteer programs. Unfortunately, these programs can shift people's wish of participation from an internal factor (e.g. "I volunteer because it's important to me") to an external factor (e.g. "I volunteer because I'm required to do so"). When that happens, people become less likely to volunteer in the future. People must be sensitive to this possibility when they make volunteer activities a must.Once people begin to volunteer, what leads them to remain in their positions over time? To answer this question, researchers have conducted follow-up studies in which they track volunteers over time. For instance, one study followed 238 volunteers in Florida over a year. One of the most important factors that influenced their satisfaction as volunteers was the amount of suffering they experienced in their volunteer positions. Although this result may not surprise you, it leads to important practical advice. The researchers note that attention should be given to "training methods that would prepare volunteers for troublesome situations or provide them with strategies for coping with the problem they do experience".Another study of 302 volunteers at hospitals in Chicago focused on individual differences in the degree to which people view "volunteer" as an important social role. It was assumed that those people for whom the role of volunteer was most part of their personal identity would also be most likely to continue volunteer work. Participants indicated the degree to which the social role mattered by responding to statements such as "Volunteering in Hospital is an important part of who I am." Consistent with the researchers' expectations, they found a positive correlation(正相关) between the strength of role identity and the length of time people continued to volunteer. These results, once again, lead to concrete advice: "Once an individual begins volunteering, continued efforts might focus on developing a volunteer role identity....Items like T-shirts that allow volunteers to be recognized publicly for their contributions can help strengthen role identity".(1)People volunteer mainly out of __________.A. academic requirementsB. social expectationsC. financial rewardsD. internal needs(2)What can we learn from the Florida study?A.Follow-up studies should last for one year.B.Volunteers should get mentally prepared.C.Strategy training is a must in research.D.Volunteers are provided with concrete advice.(3)What is most likely to motivate volunteers to continue their work?A.Individual differences in role identity.B.Publicly identifiable volunteer T-shirts.C.Role identity as a volunteer.D.Practical advice from researchers.(4)What is the best title of the passage?A.How to Get People to VolunteerB.How to Study Volunteer BehaviorsC.How to Keep Volunteers' InterestD.How to Organize Volunteer Activities【答案】(1)D(2)B(3)C(4)A【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了怎样让人们去做志愿者的一些方法。
