Do you still remember some nursery rhymes in your childhood? Nursery rhymes are a common type of children’s poetry, which has strong rhythms, rhyme and a lot of repetition. Poems often tell stories, describe something, tease somebody or exchange certain emotions like sorrow, happiness, warmth and love.

I like poems very much. Last week I went to the library. The librarian in particular recommended me a collection of poems written by a famous British poet. The book also has Chinese translation following each poem.

Poem is usually made up of several lines and syllables. There are some patterns of poems. Such as Cinquain. Haiku and Chinese Tang poetry. Some poems have concrete meanings and are easy to understand, but others are abstract. Some poems can make you imagine endless things while others only make you blank. Some English poems are very difficult for us to understand and we can’t translate them into appropriate Chinese. But if you read them again and again for many times, you will have some ideas eventually.

There is a close connection between poems and music. Believe it or not, when a pianist is playing the piano or a violinist is playing the violin they are really making wonderful invisible poems. That’s why, when listening to poems being read aloud going with music, the audience usually let out cries of cheer.

你处记得孩童时期的一些童谣吗？童谣是儿童诗歌的一种普通类型，它有强烈的节奏、韵律和许多重复。诗歌通常讲述故事、描写事物、取笑某人或交流某种情感，像悲伤、幸福、温暖和爱情。

一首诗通常由几行组成，每行有几个音节。诗有几种式样：比如五行诗、俳句诗和中国的唐诗。有些诗有具体的意义，你很容易理解，但另外一些诗却非常抽象。有些诗能使你想象无止境，而另外一些诗只会让你感到茫然。有些英语诗我们很难理解，而且我们不能把它们翻译成恰当的汉语。但是如果你反复地多读几遍，你最终会有所理解的。

诗歌和音乐有密切的联系。信不信由你，当一个钢琴家在弹钢琴或者一个小提琴家在拉小提琴的时候，他们其实是在创造无形的奇妙的诗歌。这就为什么观众在听配乐诗朗诵的时候，往往会发出欢呼声。
