As is well known, most criminals convicted of misdemeanors or felonies are sentenced to various punishments. There are punishments namely imprisonment, death penalty, fines and other sanctions in the community. A recent survey indicated that the imprison criminals are more likely to committed a new crime again.
As far as I am concerned, harsh penalties should be replaced by community correction in the case of misdemeanor. Community correction programs are consists of various ways, such as probation and parole .These programs can restrict the criminals in the community and provide them jobs which helps them to survive on the outside world. However, the community correction has the disadvantage of being too flexible so that it has to be equipped with supervisory organization.
According to what has been discussed above, a person who is in the process to correct errors should receive the understanding and forgiveness from the community. Therefore, in the spirit of social responsibility, the minor criminal cases, especially young people in criminal cases should accept caution penalties or other reasonable diversion .。
