Myfavoritesportisfootball.Iwasamemberofourfootballteam. 全文都是用的一般现在时,此句中的was显然与上下文语境不符,应改为am。
查看主谓是否一致。
Anyonemayborrowbooks,anditcostnothingtoborrowthem.cost应改为costs,因其主语是it(为形式主语),且上下文均为一般现在时。
查指代是否一致。
TheSmithsdidhisbesttomakemefeelathome.句中的主语theSmiths表的是Smith一家人,因此指示代词his应改为their。
查平行结构是否平行一致。
由and,or,but,either...or...,neither...nor...,notonly...butalso...,aswellas等并列连词和词组连接的结构可称为平行结构。
Itwasverykindofthemtomeetmeattherailwaystationanddrovemetotheirhome.句中的drove显然与and前面的tomeet不平行,应改为drive。

When it comes to friends, I desire those who will share my happiness, who possess wings of their own and who will fly with me. I seek friends whose qualities illuminate(照亮) me and train me up for love. It is for these people that I reserve the glowing hours, too good not to share. When I was in the eighth grade, I had a friend. We were shy and “too serious”about our studies when it was becoming fashionable with our classmates to learn acceptable social behaviors. We said little at school, but she would come to my house and we would sit down with pencils and paper, and one of us would say:“Let’s start with a train whistle today.” We would sit quietly together and write separate poems or stories that grew out of a train whistle. Then we would read them aloud. At the end of that school year, we, too, were changed into social creatures and the stories and poems stopped. When I lived for a time in London, I had a friend. He was in despair(失望)and I was in despair. But our friendship was based on the idea in each of us that we would be sorry later if we did not explore this great city because we had felt bad at the time. We met every Sunday for five weeks and found many excellent things. We walked until our despairs disappeared and then we parted. We gave London to each other. For almost four years I have had a remarkable friend whose imagination illuminates mine. We write long letters in which we often discover our strangest selves. Each of us appears, sometimes in a funny way, in t he other’s dreams. She and I agree that, at certain times, we seem to be parts of the same mind. In my most interesting moments. I often think:“Yes, I must tell…”We have never met.It is such comforting companions I wish to keep. One bright hour with their kind is worth more to me than the lifetime services of a psychologist(心理学家), who will only fill up the healing(愈合的) silence necessary to those darkest moments in which I would rather be my own best friend. 1. In the eighth grade, what the author did before developing proper social behavior was to ______.A. become serious about her studyB. go to her friend’s house regularlyC. learn from her classmates at schoolD. share poems and stories with her friend2.In Paragraph 3,“We game London to each other”probably means__________.A. our exploration of London was a memorable gift to both of usB. we were unwilling to tear ourselves away from LondonC. our unpleasant feelings about London disappearedD. we parted with each other in London3. If you’ve already introduced someeco-friendly habits in your home, here are some waysyour growing child can contribute more to the greeningof his world and beyond. My 7-year-old son discovered a magazine cover on the table that featured a cover line about polar bears being endangered because of global warming. I decided to be straight with him—I said yes, there is a danger to polar bears and other wildlife because of pollution. But I told him that we can all do something to go green and help make a difference, and perhaps help the polar bears and all living things on our planet. My grandmothers were immigrants(移民)who lived through wars in South Korea. They used to constantly remind me to turn off the lights, and even not to use too much toilet paper. As it turns out, these were great lessons. Have your child get into the habit of turning off lights and electronic equipment when he’s not using them. A nice bonus(意外收获): reducing electricity use can help cut down your bills. A grade-schooler is old enough to understand that water comes from lakes and pools. Explain that wasting it can affect everyone who depends on that water. Wasting water also means wasting energy. The Board Meeting had come to an end. Bob started to stand up and knocked into the table, spilling his coffee over his notes. “How embarrassing! I am getting so clumsy in my old age.”Everyone had a good laugh, and soon we were all telling stories of our most embarrassing moments. It came around to Frank who sat quietly listening to the others. Someone said, “Come on, Frank. Tell us your most embarrassing moment.”Frank laughed and began to tell us of his childhood. “I gr ew up in San Pedro. My Dad was a fisherman, and he loved the sea. He had his own boat, but it was hard making a living on the sea. He worked hard and would stay out until he caught enough to feed the family. Not just enough for our family, but also for his Mom and Dad and the other kids that were still at home.”He looked at us and said, “I wish you could have met my Dad. He was a big man, and he was strong from pulling the nets and fighting the seas for his catch. When you got close to him, he smelled like the ocean. He would wear his old canvas, foul-weather coat and his bibbed overalls. His rain hat would be pulled down over his brow. No matter how much my mother washed them, they would still smell of the sea and of fish.”Frank’s voice dropped a bit. “Wh en the weather was bad he would drive me to school. He had this old truck that he used in his fishing business. That truck was older than he was. It would wheeze and rattle down the road. You could hear it coming for blocks. As he would drive toward the school, I would shrink (畏缩) down into the seat hoping to disappear. Half the time, he would slam to a stop and the old truck would belch (喷出) a cloud of smoke. He would pull right up in front, and it seemed like everybody would be standing around and watching. Then he would lean over and give me a big kiss on the cheek and tell me to be a good boy. It was so embarrassing for me. Here, I was twelve years old, and my Dad would lean over and kiss me goodbye!”He paused and then went on, “I remember the day I decided I was too old for a goodbye kiss. When we got to the school and came to a stop, he had his usual big smile. He started to lean toward me, but I put my hand up and said, “No, Dad.” It was the first time I had ever talked to him that way, and he had this surprised look on hi s face. I said, “Dad, I’m too old for a goodbye kiss. I’m too old for any kind of kiss.” My Dad looked at me for the longest time, and his eyes started to tear up. Then he turned and looked out the windshield. “ You’re right,” he said. “ You are a big boy....a man. I won’t kiss you anymore.”Frank got a funny look on his face, and the tears began to well up in his eyes, as he spoke. “It wasn’t long after that when my Dad went to sea and never came back. It was a day when most of the fleet (船队) stayed in, but not Dad. He had a big family to feed. They found his boat adrift with its nets half in and half out. He must have gotten into a strong wind and was trying to save the nets and the floats.”I looked at Frank and saw that tears were runnin g down his cheeks. Frank spoke again. “Guys, you don’t know what I would give to have my Dad give me just one more kiss on the cheek…to feel his rough old face… to smell the ocean on him… to feel his arm around my neck. I wish I had been a man then. If I h ad been a man, I would never have told my Dad I was too old for a goodbye kiss.”1. Why laughter mattersAlthough most people believe that laughter is one of the nature's great treatments for a whole range of mental and physical diseases, it is still a serious scientific subject that researchers are trying to figure out.“Laughter above all else is a social thing,〞says Baltimore neuroscientist, Robert Provine, who has studied laughter for decades. “All laughter groups laugh ‘haha ha’ basically the same way. Whether you speak Mandarin, French or English, everyone will understand laughter. There is a pattern generator(发生器) in our brain that produces this sound.〞Laughing is our first way of communicating. Babies laugh long before they speak. No one teaches them how to laugh. They just do. People may laugh at a prank(恶作剧) on April Fools' Day. But surprisingly, only 10 to 15 percent of laughter is the result of someone making a joke. Laughter is mostly about social responses rather than to a joke. Deaf people laugh without hearing and people on cell phones laugh without seeing, showing that laughter isn't dependent on single sense but on social interactions. And laughter is not just a thing of people. Chimps tickle(挠痒) each other and even laugh when another chimp pretends to tickle them.Jaak Panksepp, a Bowling Green University Psychology professor, studies rats that laugh when he tickles them. It turns out rats love to be tickled—they return again and again to the hands of researchers tickling them.By studying rats, scientists can figure out what's going on in the brain during laughter. Northwestern University biomedical engineering professor, Jeffrey Burgdorf has found that laughter in rats produces a chemical that acts as an antidepressant(抗抑郁药). He thinks the same thing probably happens in humans, too. This would give doctors a new chemical target to develop drugs that can fight depression.Even so, laughter itself has not been proved to be the best medicine, experts say. Margaret Stuber, a professor at University of California, studied whether laugher helped patients. She found that distraction(分心) and mood improvement helped, but she could not find a benefit of laughter alone.“No study has shown that laughter produces a direct health benefit,〞Provine said, largely because it's hard to separate laughter from just feeling good. But he thinks it doesn't really matter, “Isn't the fact that laughter feels good when you do it enough?〞1.The most important finding of Robert Provine's research is that ________.A.laughter makes a person feel goodB.laughter depends on different sensesC.laughter is a quality people are born withD.laughter is a social response shared by all creatures2.According to the passage, scientists studied rats in order to find ________.A.if they can laughB.if they like laughingC.what laughter in rats producesD.how rats react while being tickled3.What can we learn from the passage?A.Patients will recover if they laugh enough.B.Laughter is a means of communication as well as a language.C.A new medicine has been developed based on the laughter research.D.Scientists can know what is happening in a human brain when he laughs.4.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?C. D.CP: Central pointP: PointSp: Subpoint(次要点)C: Conclusion【要点综述】“笑〞既是人类也是动物的一种交际行为,多数人认为“笑〞是治疗身体疾病和心理疾病的有效方式之一。

【来自广东高考卷]】Sports account for a growing amount of income made on the sales of commercial time by television companies. Many television companies have used sports to attract viewers from particular sections of the general public, and then they have sold audiences to advertisers. An attraction of sport programs for the major U. S. media companies is that events are often held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons—the slowest time periods of the week for general television viewing. Sport events are the most popular weekend programs, especially among male viewers who may not watch much television at other times during the week. This means the television networks are able to sell advertising time at relatively high prices during what normally would be dead time for programming.Media corporations also use sports to attract commercial sponsors that might take their advertising dollars elsewhere if television stations did not report certain sports. The people in the advertising departments of major corporations realize that sports attract male viewers. They also realize that most business travelers are men and that many men make family decisions on the purchases of computers, cars and life insurance.Golf and tennis are special cases for television programming. These sports attract few viewers, and the ratings (收视率) are unusually low. However, the audience for these sports is attractive to certain advertisers. It is made up of people from the highest income groups in the United States, including many lawyers and business managers. This is why television reporting of golf and tennis is sponsored by companies selling high-priced cars, business and personal computers, and holiday trips. This is also why the networks continue to carry these programs regardless of low ratings. Advertisers are willing to pay high fees to reach high-income consumers and those managers who make decisions to buy thousands of “company cars” and computers. With such viewers, these programs don't need high ratings to stay on the air.1. Television sport programs on weekend afternoons ________.A.result in more sport eventsB.get more viewers to play sportsC.make more people interested in televisionD.bring more money to the television networks2. Why would weekend afternoons become dead time without sport programs?A.Because there would be few viewers.B.Because the advertisers would be off work.C.Because television programs would go slowly.D.Because viewers would pay less for watching television.3. In many families, men make decisions on ________.A.holiday trips B.sports viewingC.television shopping D.expensive purchases4. The ratings are not important for golf and tennis programs because ________.A.their advertisers are carmakersB.their viewers are attracted by sportsC.their advertisers target at rich peopleD.their viewers can afford expensive cars5. What is the passage mainly about?A.Television ratings are determined by male viewers.B.Rich viewers contribute most to television companies.C.Sports are gaining importance in advertising on television.D.Commercial advertisers are the major sponsors of sport events.【要点综述】本文讲述的是通过在星期六和星期日的下午播放一些电视节目来吸引那些高收入的人来看,给广告带来了极大的效益。

[来自福建高考卷]Some people believe that a Robin Hood is at work, others that a wealthy person simply wants to distribute his or her fortune before dying. But the donator who started sending envelopes with cash to deserving causes, accompanied by an article from the local paper, has made a northern German city believe in fairytales(童话).The first envelope was sent to a victim support group. It contained 10,000 with a cutting from the Braunschweiger Zeitung about how the group supported a woman who was robbed of her handbag; similar plain white anonymous(匿名) envelopes, each containing 10,000, then arrived at a kindergarten and a church. The envelops keep coming, and so far at least 190, 000 has been distributed. Last month, one of them was sent to the newspaper's own office. It came after a story it published about Tom, a 14-year-old boy who was severely disabled in a swimming accident. The receptionist at the Braunschweiger Zeitung opened an anonymous white envelope to find 20 notes of 500 inside, with a copy of the article. The name of the family was underlined.“I was driving when I heard the news,”Claudia Neumann, the boy's mother, told Der Spiegel magazine.“I had to park on the side of the road; I was speechless.”The money will be used to make the entrance to their house wheelchair-accessible and for a course of treatment that their insurance company refused to pay for.“For someone to act so selflessly, for this to happen in such a society in which everyone thinks of himself, was astonishing,” Mrs.Neumann said. Her family wonder whether the donator is a Robin Hood character, taking from banks to give to the needy.Henning Noske, the editor of the Braunschweiger Zeitung, said:“Maybe it is an old person who is about to die. We just do not know.”However, he has told his reporters not to look for the city's hero, for fear that discovery may stop the donations.1.The Braunschweiger Zeitung is the name of ________.A.a church B.a bank C.a newspaper D.a magazine2.Which of the following is TRUE about the donation to Tom?A.The donation amounted to 190, 000.B.The donation was sent directly to his house.C.The money will be used for his education.D.His mother felt astonished at the donation.3.It can be inferred from the passage that ________.A.the donator is a rich old manB.the donation will continue to comeC.the donation comes from the newspaperD.the donator will soon be found out4.What would be the best title for the passage?A.Money Is Raised by the NewspaperB.Newspaper Distributes Money to the NeedyC.Unknown Hero Spreads Love in EnvelopesD.Robin Hood Returns to the City【要点综述】本文是一篇记叙文。

As a professor at a large American university,I often hear a phrase from students:“I’m only a 1050.” The unlucky students are speaking of the score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT),which is used to determine whether they will be admitted to the college or university of their choice,or even have a chance to get a higher education at all.The SAT score, whether it is 800,1100 or 1550,has become the focus at this time of their life.It is obvious that if students value highly their test scores, then a great amount of their self-respect is put in the number.Students who perform poorly on the exam are left feeling that it is all over. The low test score, they think, will make it impossible for them to get into a good college. And without a degree from a_prestigious_university,they fear that many of life’s doors will remain forever closed.According to a study done in the 1990s,the SAT is only a reliable indicator of a student’s future performance in most cases.Interestingly,it becomes much more accurate when it is set together with other indicators—like a student’s high school grades.Even if standardized tests like the SAT could show a student’s academic proficiency(学业水平),they will never be able to test things like confidence, efforts and will power, and are unable to give us the full picture of a student’s potentialities(潜力).This is not to suggest that we should stop using SAT scores in our college admission process. The SAT is an excellent test in many ways, and the score is still a useful means of testing students. However,it should be only one of many methods used.1.The purpose of the SAT is to test students’________.A.strong willB.academic abilityC.full potentialitiesD.confidence in school work2.Students’ selfre spect is influenced by their________.A.scores in the SATB.achievements in mathematicsC.job opportunitiesD.money spent on education3.The underlined phrase “a prestigious university” probably means “________”.A.a famous universityB.a technical universityC.a traditional universityD.an expensive university4.This passage is mainly about________.A.how to prepare for the SATB.stress caused by the SATC.American higher educationD.the SAT and its effects【阅读心得】1.However,many of the young readers are getting interested in such poisonous reading, which costs them what they should pay for their breakfast and brings them nightmares and immoral ideas in return.(完形填空第二段倒数第二句)然而,许多年轻的读者对这些有害刊物非常感兴趣,而这些刊物花掉了他们本该去买早饭的钱,反而给他们带来了噩梦和邪恶的想法。

An “apple polisher〞is one who gives gifts to win friendship or special treatment. It is not exactly a bribe(贿赂), but is close to it.All sorts of people are “apple polishers〞,including politicians and people in high offices—just about everybody. Oliver Cromwell, the great English leader, offered many gifts to win the support of George Fox and his party, but failed. There are other phrases meaning the same thing as “applepolishing〞—“softsoaping〞or “butteringup〞. A gift is just one way to “softsoap〞somebody, or to “butter him up〞. Another that is just as effective is flattery, giving someone high praise—telling him how good he looks, or how well he speaks, or how talented and wise he is.Endless are the ways of flattery. Who does not love to hear it? Only an unusual man can resist the thrill of being told how wonderful he is. In truth, flattery is good medicine for most of us, who get so little of it.We need it to be more sure of ourselves. It cannot hurt unless we get carried away by it. But if we just lap it up for its good value and nourishment, as a cat laps up milk, then we can still remain true to ourselves.Sometimes, however, flattery will get you nothing from one who has had too much of it. A good example is the famous 12th century legend of King Canute of Denmark and England. The king got tired of listening to endless sickening flattery of his courtiers(朝臣). They overpraised him to the skies, as a man of limitless might. He decided to teach them a lesson. He took them to the seashore and sat down. Then he ordered the waves to stop coming in. The tide was too busy to listen to him. The king was satisfied. This might show his followers how weak his power was and how empty their flattery was.1.Which of the following activities has nothing to do with “applepolishing〞?A.A boy tells his girlfriend how pretty she looks.B.An employee tells her boss how good he is at management.C.A knight is said to be of limitless power by his followers.D.A teacher praises her students for their talent and wisdom.2.What does the writer want to prove with Cromwell's example?A.Everybody can be an apple polisher.B.Cromwell was not a good apple polisher.C.George Fox and his party were not apple polishers.D.There are people who don't like being applepolished.3.Which of the following statements about flattery is TRUE according to the author?A.Too much flattery can carry us away.B.Flattery is too empty to do people any good.C.Flattery can get you nothing but excessive(过度的) pride.D.Flattery is one of the ways to applepolished people.4.Why did King Canute of Denmark and England take his followers to the seashore? A.Because he was sick of his normal life.B.Because he disliked being overpraised any more.C.Because he wanted them to realize how wise he was.D.Because he wanted them to see how weak he was as a king.5.Who does the author think that flattery can do good to?A.Those who are politicians or in high offices.B.Those who lack confidence.C.Those who are really excellent.D.Those who think highly of themselves.【要点综述】本文论述了现代社会存在的一个普遍现象,人们往往为了自己的一点儿利益去送礼或者说一些阿谀奉承的话,当然有时即使这样做了也未必就能实现自己的愿望。

Nine years ago, after Leo had died, people said to me. "I never knew he was your stepfather." You see, I never called him that. At first, he was no one special in my life. Then he became my friend. In time, I felt he was also my father.Leo married my mother when I was eleven. Two years later we moved into a house in a new suburban development, where we put down roots. At first our lawn was just a mud with wild grass, but Leo saw bright possibilities. "We'll plant trees there to give us shade as well as some flowers," he said. And just these little touches made our house different from all the others. More important, a real family was forming. Leo was becoming a full-time parent, and I was learning what it meant to have a father.Weekday mornings when the weather was bad, Leo often drove me to school. Having a father drop you off may have been something my classmates took for granted, but I always thought it was wonderful. Saturday mornings, we went to the hardware shop, then stepped into the five-and-ten, buying a sports magazine or something else. Some people might think that doing shopping together is nothing special, but I, who had ever before spent my childhood watching other families do their everyday activities, experienced them now with extreme delight. Looking back, I realized that Leo gave me what I needed most—the experience of doing ordinary things together as a family.Soon after we moved to the suburbs, one of our new neighbors introduced herself to me. She had already met my mother and Leo. "You know," she said, "you look just like your father." I knew she was just making conversation--but even so... "Thank you", I said. Why tell her anything different?1.The writer's purpose in writing this passage is _______.A.to show his pride to have a good stepfatherB.to show how interesting a person Leo wasC.to remind us of our parentsD.to explain why they moved to the suburbs2.The phrase “put down roots”in the second paragraph means .A.farmed B.planted C.settled D.worked3.In the writer's opinion, _______.A.it is not easyto live with a stepfatherB.not all the stepfathers are as good as LeoC.the husband and wife must think more about their children before they divorceD.in stepfamilies the love and friendship are extremely precious4.The last sentence “Why tell her anything different?”means that .A.he should have told the truthB.he wouldn't tell her the truthC.he wanted to tell her something that had nothing to do with LeoD.he wanted to keep silence whenever he met the neighbors【参考答案】1—4、ACDB阅读理解Hispanic Heritage Month(拉丁文化月)is the period when people recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the United States and celebrateHispanic culture. A map of late 18th century North America shows this presence, from San Francisco to Florida. Spanish explorers traveled further north along the Pacific Coast to Canada in 1774 and by the late 18th century they had established a military post on Vancouver Island, 350 miles north of Seattle. The Spanish sailed up the Atlantic Coast through the Chesa peake Bay in 1526, then called the Bahia de Santa Maria, about 80 years before the romanticized English encounter with Pocahontas. In the 1520s Spanish navigators also explored as far north as Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and the present site of Bangor, Maine. The Spanish settled in the southwest of North America in the 16th century and officially founded Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1610.About 47 million people in the United States are Hispanic Americans.
