The history of film is an account of the historical development of the medium knownvariously as cinema, motion pictures, film, or the movies. The history of film spans over 100 years, from the latter part of the 19th centuryto the present day. Motion pictures developed gradually from a carnival novelty toone of the most important tools of communication and entertainment, and mass mediain the 20th century and into the 21st century. Most films before 1930 were silent.Motion picture films have substantially affected the arts, technology, and politics. The cinema was invented during the 1890's, during what is now called theindustrial revolution. It was considered a cheaper, simpler way to provideentertainment to the masses. Movies would become the most popular visual art formof the late Victorian age. It was simpler because of the fact that before the cinemapeople would have to travel long distances to see major dioramas or amusement parks. With the advent of the cinema this changed. During the first decade of the cinema'sexistence, inventors worked to improve the machines for making and showing films. The cinema is a complicated medium, and before it could be invented, severaltechnological requirements had to be met.8.阅读说bee 在200 million years 前就⬀在了的观点受到质疑,理由:1 没化石。

At that time, I was very nervous because I had no friends or relatives there. Sometimes I felt lonely, so one day I wrote to my English teacher of Senior high school and complained about it. Fortunately, He told me how to make new friends in a new place. He said that I should talk first to my new classmates or roommates about common interests such as hobbies or favorite books. And he told me I should smile often when I talk with others .More importantly, I should try my best to help others in trouble..I did as he told me and luckily I have a lot of friends there. Friendship is extremely important to me. It ' s like being brothers or sisters ,but even more than that. I have a lot of different kinds of friends. Some are open-minded, others are shy. I prefer having a real variety of friends. In a word, my teacher gave a piece of valuable advice and I am very thankful to him.卡片3:Describe a book you have read recently. You should say: who recommended it.What book it was. What the book was about. And explain what you learned from it.参考答案:A short time ago, my grandfather recommended a book to read carefully, which is shortest novel in the world. The title of this book is “A missing corner”. It is very instructive. It is a book about the philosophy of life. it is a book with few words but many pictures. The hero of the book is a circle with a missing corner. He felt very unhappy because of the missing corner, so he decided to set out to search for a missing corner. He was not going very fast because of the missing corner. He talked to worms ,enjoyed the smell of flowers and played with butterflies. At last, he found a corner which was willing to become a part of him. He felt perfect because he was complete, but when he continued the journey, he was rolling very fast because he was round. He could not talk to worms, enjoy the fragrance of flowers or play with butterflies. He was complete and perfect but he was unhappy. From this story, I realized a truth. Life cannot be as perfect as you expect, and you should enjoy its shortage. Nobody can be perfect. After reading this book, I begin to know a lot about life. I think I should be satisfied with my life and enjoy every day .卡片4:刺激运动Describe an exciting sport you know. You should say: what the sport is. How you know about it ; is it difficult? Explain why you think it is exciting.参考答案:卡片5:Describe a person you know who is good at cooking. You shoud say:Who this person is ;What is your relationship with this person. What kinds of food he or she cooks. And explain why you think this person is so good at cooking.参考答案:The best cook I know is one of my friends. We got to know each other about 2 years ago, and I got to know him from a birthday party of my friend. From then on, he always invites us to enjoy the food he cooks. He is good at cooking all kinds of food, like spicy food, salty food and sour food. Whenever we go to his home, he will ask us first what kind of food that we like. He told us that he had never been to the cooking school, and he learned to cook by himself. We think that he has a gift on cooking. Sometimes we go to some famous restaurants together, and if we like a dish, he will try cooking it at home and the taste is exactly the same. I often go to his home on weekends to enjoy the del icacy, and now I become really picky. I don’t like the food cooked by others. I told him that my appetite was spoiled. Anyway, if you have the chance to taste the food by him, I am sure you will like it.卡片6:Describe a childhood song you remenber well; You should say: where you first heard this song; how old you were when you first heard it; what it was about; and explain how you feel now when you hear this song.参考答案:The first time I heard the lovely song is when I was about 8 up to when I was 10 maybe, in my primary school.I don’t remember the exact name of that childhood song already, but I still remember the lyrics and melody of that song. "Bats in the belfries, owls in the trees, cats in the cornfields, ghosts in the breeze, go trick or treating th en it’s all done. Halloween’s over, but wasn’t it fun?" As the lyrics written in the song, it is about Halloween. Halloween swept in China and people got to know it since then, everyone thought it was interesting because people wore costumes during the holiday and there is no such a holiday in China. So, with curiosity, like every child, when I heard this song, I think Halloween is mysterious and funny. There are bats, owls, cats and ghosts. Moreover, the melody is cheerful in a merry mood, so we always sang that song at the top of our lungs. It was amazing.卡片7:多彩的地方:Desribe a place you went to that was full of color. You should say:Where it was;why you went there;what you did there;and explain why you think this place was made so colourful.参考答案:For me, the place with all of colors is museum. I can see numerous (非常多的,plenty of) things in museums, such as paintings, sculptures, ceramics and jewelries. And the most famous museum in the world must be the Louvre Museum in Paris. I went there last Christmas, whenI was travelling alone in Europe. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built as a fortress (堡垒,bastion)in the late 12th century under Philip II. Remnants (残余,Remains)of the fortress are still visible in the basement of the museum. When I was walking inside the gallery, I can touch the breath of endless human history. It contains more than 380,000 objects and displays 35,000 works of art in eight curatorial departments. My favorite part is the decorative arts, which spans (跨越,steps over) the time from the Middle Ages tothe mid-19th century. The ceramics, enamels and stained glass left me with a deep impression. I loved the clash of bright and beautiful colors, which would not fade (褪色消失,vanish)even in a thousand years’ time. When you walked into the jewelries part, every woman would scream happily. The glittery (闪烁的,gleaming)diamonds and delicate (复杂精巧的,intricate) designs showed the intelligence of ancient people. I stayed in Louvre Museum for almost a day because it was too large to go through. It helped me achieve my dream of seeing so many beautiful meaningful collections, and I felt really happy. Besides, the best part is, it is free for all youths under 25 years old! I felt so lucky to be a European student under 25!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 微博@李威廉老师,私人微信:Dianfengyasi,提供视频详细解析及个性答疑。

2015 IELTS Part 3 Topics and answers
IELTS Speaking Part 3 - Questions and answersIELTS Speaking Sample: ValuesLet’s consider values and the way they change. What kinds of possessions give status to people in your country? That is a good question. Let me think…I would say it depends on where you are and who you are with. If you are out in public, it’s things like the car you are driving. If you have the latest Mercedes Benz model, then in my country that is a sign of status, as most people can’t even afford a car at all, whatever the make. Property, or the house you own, and the possessions you have in it are also a sign of status. If you have a nice house in a nice area, then this shows you have money and are someone important.Has it always been the same or were different possessions thought of as valuable in the past?I’m too young to remember exactly what it was like a long time ago, but yes, I think it was different. For example, cars as I mentioned before only really came to our country in the last ten years or so. That kind of consumerism is a fairly recent thing so this couldn’t have been used as a representation of something valuable. I think it was things like gold and jewellery that were seen as valuable. Of course, these are still seen as valuable today, but previously it was these things over anything else as a lot of the modern day possessions were not available. Why do you think people need to show their status in society?I believe that this is because it's important in society to show you have money or are successful – it is nature, or the way we are brought up, that makes us feel like this, but also the pressure that society puts on everyone to be successful. And showing status is basically showing that you have money and you have success, so this is what people want to do. Going back to the example of the car, driving around in a Mercedes is a very conspicuous show of status – it basically says to people, “Look, I am successful and I have money.” Another reason is possibly for respect. In many cultures, if someone has high status, then they will be respected by others and they may receive preferential treatment.IELTS Speaking Sample: AdvertisingNow we'll discuss the role of advertising.Do you think advertising influences what people buy?Yes definitely, if there were no advertising and you went to a shop, then you would just buy what you wanted based on maybe what others have told you, what the product looks like, or, depending on the product, what it says on the label. Advertising builds up a brand and people then trust a certain thing because they have seen it on television or elsewhere. In addition, there is so much advertising around it must influence us. You cannot escape it as it is fed to us constantly in our daily lives – not only in magazines, radio and television, but on billboards, on TVs installed on trains and platforms, even in schools and universities. So yes, advertising influences what we buy.Do advertisements always give correct information, or do they encourage people to buy things that they may not need?I think some do and some don’t, but it’s difficult to know which are giving us the correct information. For example, the skin whitening products – I do not believe that these work but we see them everywhere in Asian countries, and we are encouraged to buy them even though they are not actually necessary. The adverts, though, tell us they are necessary as they will improve our lives and we will become more accepted and successful. This then, is an example of advertising encouraging people to buy something they do not need. I do think there are checks in most countries these days to make sure that adverts are giving the correct information and not lying to people, but I think it is still easy for advertisers to exaggerate or to do this without breaking the regulations. Is advertising really necessary in modern society? It could be seen to be necessary in terms of the fact that, as I mentioned before, there is so much choice that we need someone to guide us in what to buy or to give us some extra information about products. Without this, it would be difficult to know where to start. However, that said, I am not sure that I would regard it as ‘necessary’ as overall I think it may do more harm than good. As we just discussed, advertising encourages people to buy things they possibly do not need. We live in a consumer society and many people are in debt because we are encouraged to buy and buy, and I’m sure advertising plays a major role in this. Without advertising we could just do our own research and decide what we really need. So no, I would not say that advertising in necessary in modern society.IELTS Speaking Sample: The InternetNow we'll move on to the influence of the internet.Do you think people take notice of advertisements on the internet?Despite the fact that there are many adverts on the internet these days, I think actually, many people tend to ignore them, or at least that is my experience. People usually go onto the internet to find something specific that they are looking for, which may be a product, or to read about something, so they will ignore what is not relevant to that. But of course there is no doubt that some people take notice of them. Advertising on the internet is a practice most companies partake in now, and they have to pay quite substantial sums to advertise on highly ranked sites. Of course, they would not do this if it were not attracting customers for them. How do you think it will change people's buying habits in the future?Buying from the internet is becoming more and more popular. For example, we have seen many book shops close down because people can buy online at cheaper prices from sites such as Amazon. It makes life much easier if products can be delivered direct to our door, especially with our busy modern lifestyles. I think this will only increase in the future as more people feel safe to buy online and online shops make it easier to purchase this way. In addition, I think our lives are only going to become busier, so more people will choose to shop this way.Are there any disadvantages to shopping on the internet? There certainly are some. Firstly, buying clothes can be a problem. When you go into a shop you can check what you are buying fits you and suits you, but it is obviously not possible to do this online.Shopping does not become less hassle if you have to send something back in the post. Another problem is the security. We have to give out our bank details to people we do not know. There have been several recent reports in the press about sites that have had their security breached and credit card details have been stolen. So far this is quite uncommon, but it is a risk none the same. Another disadvantage is to society as it could destroy local shops and businesses if people are not going out to shop in their local town.IELTS Speaking Sample: TransportLet's talk about transport. How do most people travel long distances in your country?I’d say that the main ways are cars, buses and trains. If someone has a car, I think this is their preference because to be honest the trains are not that much cheaper where I live. Also there are often delays with the trains which can be a real pain, so you may end up with a really long journey. The buses are a bit cheaper but I do not think that is such a comfortable way to travel. There is the option to travel by plane as well of course, but most of the bucket airlines go abroad – you cannot really travel that cheaply by plane within the country. So then, cars are really the best option, and of course, they give you the most freedom when you are travelling.Have the types of transport people use changed much over the last few decades?I do not think they have really. We have had the transport I mentioned before for many decades now in my country, and it is much the same today. Of course, cars have become much more popular as people’s incomes have risen which accounts for the problems we see on the roads today such as congestion and more accidents and pollution. This has probably led to some changes within cities. Many have now introduced environmentally friendly forms of transport such as trams and guided buses that do not run on gas and mean that people can travel without the use of the car. There has also been an increase in air travel, but as I said, this is quite expensive in my country so most cannot afford it.What kinds of improvement have there been in transport in your country in recent years?Transport has improved in several ways. More major roads have been built which means it is easier to travel long distances, though of course some would argue that more roads are not an improvement. They can be an eyesore in the countryside and they have encouraged more people to drive which may mean these improvements ultimately do not work because there are more cars using the roads. As I mentioned before, there has been the introduction of mass transit in many cities, such as trams and trains. In our capital city, they have also extended the underground system so it now links many more areas of the city. This has helped many people, as commuting times are horrendous if you have to travel on the roads. Those are the main improvements.。

2015年雅思阅读模拟试题及答案解析三
Time to cool it1 REFRIGERATORS are the epitome of clunky technology: solid, reliable and justa little bit dull. They have not changed much over the past century, but then they have not needed to. They are based on a robust and effective idea--draw heat from the thing you want to cool by evaporating a liquid next to it, and then dump that heat by pumping the vapour elsewhere and condensing it. This method of pumping heat from one place to another served mankind well when refrigerators' main jobs were preserving food and, as air conditioners, cooling buildings. Today's high-tech world, however, demands high-tech refrigeration. Heat pumps are no longer up to the job. The search is on for something to replace them.2 One set of candidates are known as paraelectric materials. These act like batteries when they undergo a temperature change: attach electrodes to them and they generate a current. This effect is used in infra-red cameras. An array of tiny pieces of paraelectric material can sense the heat radiated by, for example, a person, and the pattern of the array's electrical outputs can then be used to construct an image. But until recently no one had bothered much with the inverse of this process. That inverse exists, however. Apply an appropriate current to a paraelectric material and it will cool down.3 Someone who is looking at this inverse effect is Alex Mischenko, of Cambridge University. Using commercially available paraelectric film, he and his colleagues have generated temperature drops five times bigger than any previously recorded. That may be enough to change the phenomenon from a laboratory curiosity to something with commercial applications.4 As to what those applications might be, Dr Mischenko is still a little hazy. He has, nevertheless, set up a company to pursue them. He foresees putting his discovery to use in more efficient domestic fridges and air conditioners. The real money, though, may be in cooling computers.5 Gadgets containing microprocessors have been getting hotter for a long time. One consequence of Moore's Law, which describes the doubling of the number of transistors on a chip every 18 months, is that the amount of heat produced doubles as well. In fact, it more than doubles, because besides increasing in number, the components are getting faster. Heat is released every time a logical operation is performed inside a microprocessor, so the faster the processor is, the more heat it generates. Doubling the frequency quadruples the heat output. And the frequency has doubled a lot. The first Pentium chips sold by Dr Moore's company,Intel, in 1993, ran at 60m cycles a second. The Pentium 4--the last "single-core" desktop processor--clocked up 3.2 billion cycles a second.6 Disposing of this heat is a big obstruction to further miniaturisation and higher speeds. The innards of a desktop computer commonly hit 80℃. At 85℃, they stop working. Tweaking the processor's heat sinks (copper or aluminium boxes designed to radiate heat away) has reached its limit. So has tweaking the fans that circulate air over those heat sinks. And the idea of shifting from single-core processors to systems that divided processing power between first two, and then four, subunits, in order to spread the thermal load, also seems to have the end of the road in sight.7 One way out of this may be a second curious physical phenomenon, the thermoelectric effect. Like paraelectric materials, this generates electricity from a heat source and produces cooling from an electrical source. Unlike paraelectrics, a significant body of researchers is already working on it.8 The trick to a good thermoelectric material is a crystal structure in which electrons can flow freely, but the path of phonons--heat-carrying vibrations that are larger than electrons--is constantly interrupted. In practice, this trick is hard to pull off, and thermoelectric materials are thus less efficient than paraelectric ones (or, at least, than those examined by Dr Mischenko). Nevertheless, Rama Venkatasubramanian, of Nextreme Thermal Solutions in North Carolina, claims to have made thermoelectric refrigerators that can sit on the back of computer chips and cool hotspots by 10℃. Ali Shakouri, of the University of California, Santa Cruz, says his are even smaller--so small that they can go inside the chip.9 The last word in computer cooling, though, may go to a system even less techy than a heat pump--a miniature version of a car radiator. Last year Apple launched a personal computer that is cooled by liquid that is pumped through little channels in the processor, and thence to a radiator, where it gives up its heat to the atmosphere. To improve on this, IBM's research laboratory in Zurich is experimenting with tiny jets that stir the liquid up and thus make sure all of it eventually touches the outside of the channel--the part where the heat exchange takes place. In the future, therefore, a combination of microchannels and either thermoelectrics or paraelectrics might cool computers. The old, as it were, hand in hand with the new.Questions 1-5 Complete each of the following statements with the scientist or company name from the box below.Write the appropriate letters A-F in boxes 1-5 on your answer sheet.A.
