三、阅读理解(共4篇每题2分,共40分)
A
Four years ago when I was a boy of 11,I got into the biggest trouble as a kid. It was a Saturday morning. Both my parents were out, leaving me and my 10-month-old sister home alone. Anyway,my sister was still asleep in her room. In fact I had the house to myself. I decided to do some drawing. Soon I gave up. Nothing was on TV,so I felt bored and touched the candles on the shelf…I had an idea! What would happen if I set fire to some kitchen paper? Well,of course it went on fire, but it wasn't the tiny flame(火苗) I'd expected, and I couldn't blow it out. I threw it on the floor, and then I got my dad's boots(靴子) and stamped it out.
But there was a huge hole left on the floor. When my mum came home later, she smelt the smoke immediately. She dropped the shopping bag, luckily for me,over the hole. I thought this meant she would never see it. However, after running round the house checking for a fire, she of course picked up the bag and saw the hole. Next I was grounded(关禁闭) for months. Even worse though, the hole was still there, reminding me of what I did.

Tian Yutong, 14
Starting from Jan 23, I stayed at home and didn’t take one step outside from then on. In the first week, my family was kind of in a panic (恐慌). All delivery (快递) and take-out services stopped temporarily (暂时地). We were worried that we wouldn’t have enough supplies (物资), not to mention my favorite milk tea. Meanwhile, we
were also worried about my father, who is a police officer. He had to go out every day for work. The whole family was enveloped (笼罩) in anxiety.
Later, my mother went online to buy food and other supplies every day. We were able to get enough of them as we got used to our new lives. I learned tai chi from my grandma and took online classes. In March, I even joined our school orchestra’s (管弦乐队) “cloud performance” and recorded a song titled March of Steel Torrent (《钢铁洪流进行曲》).
On April 8, when I heard the cars’ horns (鸣笛) again in the streets, I was very excited. I wrote a note to myself – I want to be a doctor and save lives in the future.

全面加强大中小学劳动教育。
We’ll finally grow up someday, leaving our parents and facing the challenges in life. Parents ma y not be able to solve every problem for us. Instead, we should have enough life skills to cope with the problems that come our way.
This is what our country tries to do now: Helping more students gain working spirit. To stress the importance of hardworking spirit education (劳动教育) among students of different ages, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council released a guideline recently.
The guideline calls for students to respect work. Students should learn basic life skills and form good working habits through such education.
The government has been trying to stress the importance of hardworking spirit education. But this has been
overlooked in recent years. Many teens do not value the importance of working hard and are uninterested in doing so.
According to a study of nearly 3,000 students that was done by Ningbo Evening News in March, only 22 percent of primary and middle school students help with everyday chores around the house.
Schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard, the guideline says. Primary and middle schools should provide students with hardworking spirit classes every week, according to the guideline. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. For example, schools can teach children how to plant trees on Tree-Planting Day.
As children’s first teachers, parents should also encourage children to learn how to do chores at home. Students should master one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms.

Over just a few days in January, millions of people across China were racking their brains (绞尽脑汁). They were taking part in live-streaming (直播) quiz shows on several apps. Some of these apps include Chongdingdahui, Huajiao Zhibo , Xigua Shipin and Douyin.
Different from TV quiz shows like Happy Dictionary (《开心辞典》) and Who’s Still Standing (《一站到底》), anyone with a smartphone or tablet can participate (参加) in the live-streaming shows every day, communicating with other players at the same time.
The shows have hosts to present the questions. While the participants give their answers, they help to liven up the show by telling jokes or giving some background for the question. Each online player has 10 seconds to answer a question, with each show taking around 20 to 30 minutes.
Prizes ranging (在……范围内变动) between 100,000 yuan to 5 million yuan are being offered, with the winners sharing the prize money at the end. Depending on the total amount of prize money and the number of winners, players can win prizes as small as 1 yuan and as high as more than 40,000 yuan.
The questions are chosen from a wide range of topics, including literature (文学), geography, mathematics and biology, among many others. For example, players may be asked how many legs crabs have, or what Australia’s national flower is.
To draw new users, the apps offer “redo cards (复活卡)” to new players, as well as to those who have invited
new players to join. These cards allow players who give wrong answers an extra chance to compete on the show. 回答下面5个问题。
1. How can we take part in the live-streaming quiz shows,?
2. How many live-streaming (直播) quiz shows are mentioned in this article?
3. How much time does a player have to answer each question?
