It aims to improve students’listening and speaking. Students can be attracted by the mystery of space with the help of multimedia. Therefore, it is in the important position in this module. After learning it, students can learn the rest of the module easily.

The students are in Grade 8. They have some basic English background knowledge and they are curious about new things. So space travel will arouse their interests to explore the world. Students will enjoy discussing it by giving them different topics and tasks.

七．Teaching procedure
Step 1 Lead-in
First, get the students to concentrate on today’s topic through showing the pictures on the screen. Ask them a question.For example, where do we live? Have you ever thought about tarvelling outside the earth? How can we reach there?
Then, build some background knowledge about space travel, including what’s in space, what does it look like?
Step 2 Learn new words. With the help of the multimedia, students can learn new words in good mood.
Step 3 Listening task.
1.listen for key words.
2.Listen to the dialogue and the answer the question: What is the latest news?
3. Listen again. Try to complete the notes. It’s easy for them to finish this task through dividing the dialogue into several parts.
Step 4 Read and answer the questions
1.Read the dialogue and answer the questions as follows.
What school project have Daming and Tony got?
How does Daming feel about the school project?
How long has the journey taken?
Has anyone been to Mars? Why?
2.Read the dialogue loudly.
3.Listen and answer questions.
Step 5 Retell the dialogue according to the sentences on screen.
It is a good way for them to understand the dialogue better.
Step 6 Find sentences with just, yet and already.
1.Find them and generalize the differences among the sentences.
2.Try to make up a sentence with the phrase, such as go to Dalian and already.
3.Group competition. One says a verb and one of yet, already and just, and the other makes up a sentence in 5 seconds.
Step 7 Make up a dialogue.
1.Try to make up a dialogue according to the information on the screen and patterns on the blackboard. (It may be a little difficult for students, so I will try to help students to complete the dialogue.)
