II Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Introduce the main teaching objectives of this unit briefly. And lead Ss to get to know the theme of this Unit.
Step 2 Listening Practice
1. Play the recording of Practice A---Short Dialogues, Ss try to choose the best answer to the questions they hear.
Questions:
1) Where does the conversation most probably take place?
2) What does the man mean?
3) When does the conversation most probably take place?
4) Why does the woman suggest a toy train?
5) What does the man want to buy?

2.Play the recording of Practice B---Short conversation, Ss try to choose the best
answer according to what they have heard.
Questions:
1) Where is Harold’s located?
2) What is the food hall of Harold’s noted for?
3) What does the Egyptian hall look like to the customers?
4) About how many customers come to Harold’s on an average day?
5) How much do customers spend on an average day?

3.Play the recording of Practice C---Dictation, Ss try to fill in the blanks in the
passage according to what they have heard.
Before listening, give students 2 minutes to read through the passage and try to get familiar with the following words and phrases (Both pronunciation and Chinese meaning) to get better performance.

Step 3 Speaking Practice --- Daily Shopping
Discussion
1. Divide the Ss into groups. Each group should have no more than six students.
2. Appoint a leader for each group.
3. Encourage the Ss to take turns speaking in the discussion.
4. Encourage the Ss to have their own ideas.
Presentation
1. Invite one student from each group to present the ideas of the group to the whole class.
2. Encourage the Ss to speak rather than read their notes.
3. After the presentations, the teacher may sum up and give some comments.

Step 1 Warm-up Discussion
1. Review the learnt words and have a test.
2. Background Information --- Online shopping
Online shopping is the process that consumers go through to purchase products or services on the Internet. Popular Chinese websites that allow online purchasing include Taobao, Amazon, and . Online shopping is popular mainly because of its convenience and ease of use. However, with online shopping comes the risk of Internet fraud and unreliable delivery.
Step 2 Read Text A
Students are required to read Text A within 10 minutes. After reading it, they try to finish Comprehension practice A.

一.Structure:动词原形-ed
二.在句中承担的成分:
1.作定语:He is a retired worker.

3.作补语:1.He was surprised to find his room thoroughly cleaned.

Step 2 Practical Writing --- Letters of Complaint
投诉信也叫抱怨信,一般是当自己的利益受到侵害或是顾客对产品质量或服务质量不满时所写的、要求解决问题的信函。
投诉信都有一个共同点,就是希望收信人解决问题,所以需要提出解决方案,在投诉信中应写明投诉原因和希望的解决方法。
1. 说明投诉内容,即投诉产品名称或具体的服务态度等问题。
尽可能做到客观、礼貌,因为读信人不一定就是错误的责任人,但他的合作对事情的最后解决起着重要作用。
2. 写明投诉的原因、问题的原因及产生的结果。
这是投诉信的主体,应说明具体的理由,或问题的具体体现方式。
3. 结尾提出解决问题的方案。
这段应体现书信的礼貌原则,注意做到客观、公平、公正。
