NEW AIRPLANES
Today the biggest planes carry about 400
passengers. Soon airlines will build larger planes.
These new large planes will carry 600~800
passengers. Now high-speed planes travel from

HIGH-SPEED TRAINS

Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed intercity (城市间的)
railway opened on July 1, which is covering 301 km from
Shanghai Hongqiao to Nanjing. The train runs at 300
to 350 km per hour. New high-speed trains will go more than 300 mph (480 km/h) twice faster than the bullet train. Germany, Switzerland and Japan will be the first countries to use these new high-speed trains. Other countries plan to have the new train, too. In the future, the trains we have today may not be used at all.

Carole Wright, 54, was unable to put on her own shoes because of her size two years ago. Her weight at 29st 10lb(29英石10磅), which is equal to about 190 kilos, meant she was forced to sit on a brick wall at a barbecue two years ago for fear that she could break a plastic garden chair. But since then, Carole, has turned her life around and lost
two-thirds of her body weight and now weighs 10st.
“The doctor said, ‘If you don’t do something about your weight, you’re going to be d ead in two years. ’It was terrifying to hear that, but I didn’t know where to go for help, ” she said. She realised she had to change her lifestyle when she joined a slimming club. “Wei ghing almost 30st was a huge shock and I burst into tears, ” she said . “All I ever did was watch television or sit by the computer. It got to the stage where I wasn’t only trapped inside the house, I was trapped in my own body too and I couldn’t see a way out. ”
Carole, who is 5ft 3in tall, lost a stone in her first week of eating healthy home-cooked meals, and lost a stone every month for the next year.
Carole was named Slimmin g World’s woman of the year 2011. “I can do all of the little things everyone else takes for granted like putting my own shoes on, painting my toe nails and walking up stairs—in fact, I run up them now, ” she said. “The la st time I weighed 10st I was 10 years old. My only regret is that I didn’t do it 35 years ago, but to make up for lost time I plan to grow old gracefully. ”
