The domestic PVC industry in the us is highly concentrated.It is essentia1y composed of ten manufacturers, the most important ones of which are ABC Manufacturing Company, Industrial Manufacturing Company,Williamson and Son Company and lndustrial Product Export Company with a combined domestic marketshare of more than 70%. Other small and medium sized companies hold a combined market share of less than 30%. This success, however, was driven mainly by strong gains in sales by its international operations.

In our Purchase Contract No.P/C10 we have inadvertently written"W. P. A. & War Risk" insurance to be effected by the seller, whereas we should ask for broader coverage.
The shipment of our last order arrived with a serious shortage due to pilferage. Unnecessary losses have been sustained because of our failure to ask you to insure our goods adequately.
In view of this, please insure hereafter all our purchases against TPND, breakage, shortage
and hook damages in addition to W. P. A. & War Risk.
We enclose herewith our amended Purchase Contract, which is to supersede the one previously effective.

With reference to the 10 cases of PVC pipes under our Sales Conformation No. 10-666, we wish to draw your attention to the fact that the date of delivery is approaching, but we still have not received your covering Letter of Credit to date. Please do your utmost to expedite the L/C in
our company's favor, so that we may execute the order smoothly.
We enclose an application form for documentary credit and shall be glad if you arrange to open an irrevocable L/C in our favor.
In order to avoid subsequent amendments, please see to it that the L/C stipulations are in exact accordance with the terms of the Contract.
We hope to receive your L/C as soon as possible.

Dear Sirs,
As per your instructions, we have established L/C in your company's favor issued by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of Beijing for the amount of $100000 covering 10 cases of PVC pipes. Please check our enclosed L/C to ensure that it agrees with your instructions.
But after its establishment, we find that transhipment and partial shipment are not allowed in the L/C. As direct steamers to our port are few and far between, you have to ship via Hong Kong more often than not. As to partial shipment, it would be to our mutual benefit because you could ship immediately whatever you have on hand instead of waiting for the whole lot to be completed.
Therefore, we have cabled this afternoon, asking you to amend the L/C to read.
"TRANSHIPMENT AND PARTSI-IIPMENT ALLOWED"
We shall be glad if you see to it that amendment is cabled without delay, as our customers are in urgent need of these goods.
