Maintain your posure and your confidence,就是说要保持冷静和自信,千万不要因为一处没反应过来,就慌了手脚。

Model everything ( pronunciation, intonation, tone, slang, idioms, patterns, etc.) we heard before。

也就是说认真模仿和跟读TOEFL听力题目中的各种语言点(包括语音、语调、语气、俚语、习语、句式等),不能放过任何细节。

第四步:在模仿的基础上,Multiply the meaning and usage of the words and patterns。

即大力补充和扩展TOEFL听力题目中常用词汇和句式的其它含义和用法。

因为TOEFL听力考查的一大难点就是“一词多义”,或“一义多词”。

这也就是很多考生之所以听出来老外用的是哪个词,却仍然搞不懂其在题目中确切含义的重要原因。

第五步:在模仿和扩展的基础之上,要学会Mine(挖掘)the cultural background and the way of English thinking behind the language, 即努力挖掘听力题目语言背后的美语思维模式和美国文化背景。

Sino-US English Teaching, August 2020, Vol. 17, No. 8, 235-238doi:10.17265/1539-8072/2020.08.002Idioms, Collocations, Formulaic Phrases and SecondLanguage Acquisition李胜玉南京林业大学外国语学院,南京,中国Idioms, collocations, and formulaic phrases are three factors playing the important role in the second languageacquisition (SLA). This essay firstly deals with the definitions of these concepts, then it illustrates the importanceof them to SLA on two perspectives—idioms, collocations, and formulaic phrases respectively and they regarded asa whole. Therefore, in this way, the essay may lead to the answer the question “How are idioms, collocations, andformulaic phrases important to SLA?”Keywords: idioms, collocations, formulaic phrases, second language acquisitionIntroductionSecond language acquisition (SLA) is an important area of applied linguistics, which has drawn great attention of the linguists. It is known that many factors may influence SLA, making it successful or not. Idioms, collocations, and formulaic phrases are some among them, which can greatly influence L2 learners. Definitions of the Three ConceptsIt is known to us all that words are composed of morphemes. When two or more words combined to form a special meaning unit with a meaning different from the sum of the individual meanings of the words, we have an idiom, such as, “kick the bucket” and “tear a strip off”. Collocations are a set of phrases, in which some words tend to go with other certain words. For example, it is preferred to use “full moon” instead of “complete moon”, “black and blue” rather than “black and purple”. Formulaic phrase is a bit different from those two. It is a phrase which is learned as a whole by L2 learners but which for native speakers consists of smaller constituent parts. For instance, “Excuse me”, “How do you do?”.The Importance of the Three Concepts to SLAThe above handles the definitions of the concepts. Knowing what they are, let us turn to their importance to SLA. How can they affect SLA? It may be discussed on two perspectives. On the Perspective of Individual ConceptIdiomsEach language has its own large number of idioms. If a L2 learner is eager to master the language, he must more or less master the unique idioms in the language. From the above definition of the idioms, it is indicated李胜玉,文学硕士,讲师,外国语学院,南京林业大学,南京,中国。

10月22日托福

10月22日托福

10月22日托福10月22日托福__写作真题1In their free time, young people (age14-18) spend time taking part in different activities such as music lessons or petitive sports. Some young people devote their time in other kinds of activities. But other young people will spend most of their time focusing on one activity that is important to them. Which approach do you think is better? The old saying “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” still remains relevant as it did centuries ago. The question of what kind of extra curriculum activities should kids do after school has never failed to attract spotlight. Should they focus on one single activity or is it better for them to devote their time to various activities. Personally, I think it is in the kids’ best interest to get involved in multiple kinds of activities based on the following reasons.First off, doing various activities makes the kids bored and more extra curriculum activities mean that they enjoy a better chance to try different things and find their real interest. For instance, playing sports all the time will probably drive the kidscrazy since they can be very energy consuming and it might lead to injuries in their bones and joints. One’s meat might be others’ poison, indeed nobody really knows what their preference lies in unless they are given the opportunities to do different activities. Actually switching from one activity to another gives the kids the opportunity to explore their real interest and tap their unknown potential. A kid who lacks of flexibility and coordination when doing sport might be talented in playing chess while one who cannot concentrate in the classroom might be very gifted in playing sports. Trying out different activities can help kids to find something they are really interested in and eventually they can develop and build up confidence.Additionally, students can develop lots of useful skills and release their pressure in life and study if they do different activities. For example, playing group sports can help them to get fortable teaming up with others and develop cooperation awareness. This kind of experience and awareness can help them get prepared for future jobs since willingness to cooperate and coordinate is regarded as a very valuable quality and working together with others are necessary for the future working environment. Plus, learning music and how to play piano can help someone todevelop a taste in music. Music can serve as a source of fort and love, at the same time it is conducive to release negative emotions like sorrow, depression and even anger. In conclusion, it is more advisable for kids to do various activities since it helps kids to explore their interest and tap their potential, more importantly it can help kids to develop useful skills and get them prepared for future jobs.10月22日托福__写作真题2Everyone is longing for success; therefore, everyone eagerly searches for every method to reach that end. Having an inclusive and colorful experience from multiple activities would definitely serve as a good panacea for children who want to achieve something in the life. However, there are people who hold the opposite opinion, believing that mastering only one and mastering it well would bring more benefits than being engaged in multiple activities.Admittedly, a kid participating in multiple activities may guarantee the prehensive development of kids. Music classes may teach students how to appreciate music; arts classes may teach kids to depict the beautiful world with their hands; sports classes may help shape a strong body, etc. However, it may put muchpressure on kids;besides, children may gain nothing real ability instead of mastering a true ability. This is not beneficial to the sustainable development of students in a long term.On the one hand, participating in just one activity can cultivate students to be tenacious and persistent. Students are at a crucial stage to form and shape their value and attitude toward themselves and the world at large. Participating one major activity helps them to have a clear goal and exert efforts on it, during which they may learn to deal with all kinds of frustrations and hardships. With the trials and errors, students get to know what to expect for their future. For example, a lot of famous and successful people in the world are all devoted to one activity at their young age. Mozart, the genius musician in particular, only practiced the piano during this young age and became famous thereafter. Thus, participating in one major activity can train and cultivate students' tenacity and persistence. On the other hand, one may e more professional by engaging just in one major activity. Participating in one activity can help one get the knowledge and experience in depth. Being professional in a certain field. Instead of taking part in many activities, focusing on one major activity provides a time for oneto get close to it and absorb the essence. Students will e more focusing on other things, like study. According to a survey conducted by World Youth Association, the students perform better in most aspects of life who participate in one major activity for a long time than those who are not. Therefore, it is conducive to cultivate students' concentration and professionalism. In a nutshell, although taking part in multiple activities may offer some benefits, it is the single activity that cultivate the tenacious character and professionalism.10月22日托福__写作真题32016年10月22日托福__写作题目Some teenagers took part in kinds of activities, such as musical classes, sports classes and so on, but others only focus on one activity which is important to them. Which idea do you support, please provide ideas and give some examples.10月22日托福__写作真题4Under the current educational system, the extracurricular activities designed for students are playing an increasingly important role. Therefore, among parents and teachers, there arises a controversy pertaining whether teenage students should participate in various activities or focus on one activity. Towardssuch a long-running tug-of-war, I strongly mend teenagers to engage in more kinds of activities, for the following reasons.Initially, getting involved in more activities can be conducive to the well-rounded development of students. It is self-evident that different activities can equip participants with various skills and abilities. To illustrate, students attending musical classes can learn how to appreciate the classical works of famous musicians and thus improve their aesthetic capability. Similarly, participating in team sports will help students cultivate a sense of cooperation as well as enhance their leadership. After having obtained the above skills, students definitely can develop in an all-round way, with the result of ing more petitive than others. In contrast, specializing in only one kind of activity is a totally different picture. In other words, students just foster one particular skill, which is a potential obstacle to their future development. The underlying reason is that the more and more plicated modern life necessitates the acquisition of multiple skills.Furthermore, taking part in many after-class activities can do a better job in helping students find what they are interested in. Just as a saying goes, interest is the best teacher, which clearly indicates the great role played by interest in all levels of education. The above claim is especially true of teens education, because they are in the puberty, the most rebellious period. Put it in another way, without the drive of their own interest, they are less likely to perform well in any activities required by their teachers. In this case, offering various activities to adolescents undoubtedly can more effectively stimulate their interest and passion. Once they find what they like, they will automatically put more efforts and time in it. However, requiring all teenagers to solely engage in one activities may fail to cater to the interest of the majorities of them. All in all, we can draw the conclusion that it is a wiser move for students to attend multiple activities, in order to obtain a holistic development and find what they are passionate for.。

托福考试10月14号阅读考试真题回忆第一篇how to measure the universe.
