Can a monkey or a penguin take pictures ? Sure , if it has a crittercam (动物随身拍)!Last month , more than 50 scientists from all over the world had a meeting in Washington DC . They talked about special cameras that allow them to see the world from animals’ points of view .
Grey Marshall , inventor of the first crittercam , organized the meeting . Five years ago , he had the big idea for his small invention . While diving off the coast in Central America , Marshall noticed a shark with a parasitic (寄生的) fish on its belly . Wouldn’t it be cool , he thought , if a
camera were put on that shark , just like the parasitic fish ? Marshall vegan to experiment by placing cameras on dogs and cats . The first wild animal he equipped with a camera was turtle .
Marshall and other scientists have attached cameras to turtles , whales , lions and crows , The first crittrcams were a bit large , but as technology and designs improved , the cameras became smaller . Crittercams allow researchers to see where animals travel and eat , and how they live . Scientists who study crittercam videos have leaned that emperor penguins hunt under ice . They found adult green sea turtles are not actually vegetarians . The turtles eat small animals and dead fish . And just last month , researchers reported that the crows in the South Africa are even smarter than anyone knew . The clever crows not only use sticks as tools to catch insects , but they slso save their favorite stick tools to use again !

My first reaction was annoyance . It was Friday afternoon , and I was within an hour of finishing my work for the week . As I was leaving , a nurse brought me one more patient message . The statement read : “ Mrs . Jones called to say that she has had blurred vision (视觉模糊) ever since her medical test this morning . ” I smiled . Suddenly our tests were cau sing eye problems .
This week my patients had questioned everything . My patient with high blood pressure had stopped coming to her treatment on the advice of an Internet chat room . A woman who had a mental problem was substituting (代替) St . John’s word for her medication . Now Mrs . Jones was imagining problems . I rolled my eyes .
My second reaction was worry . As I looked through her record , I tried to figure out why she would have blurred vision , but nothing in her record explained the new proble m . She’s probably just anxious , I thought . Still , she wouldn’t have called if she had been all right . I picked up the phone .
What I next felt can only be described as delight . Before I made the call , the nurse ran in : Mrs . Jones called . He vision is fine . Turns out she picked up the wrong glasses when she left the office . The X – ray technician has been having the same problem . I let out a laugh . Mrs . Jones had been right . Her vision had been blurred . Now we know why .
Finally I felt shame . I came to realize what Mrs . Jones had taught me . I had first known she was wrong , that her anxiety had clouded her judgment . Instead , my medical training had clouded mine . Now I feel thankful that Mrs . Jones figured it out before I made a mistake about
our relationship . Patients come to me for my help . They pay me to listen , diagnose (诊断) , treat and talk . That suggests trust ; I must remember that , and trust them too .

The Slow Food movement
In a world where time is money , where speed is everything , where being the best often means being the quickest , it takes a certain amount of courage to choose a snail as the logo (标积)
“ The snail is a symbol of slowness , rest and hospitality (好客) , ” explains Carlo Petrini , head of the Slow Food movement . “ A snail might be an unusual symbol , and this is because Slow Food is an unusual organization . ”
Founded in Italy in 2006 , the Slow Food movement aims to stop what they see as the global standardization of foods , tastes and methods of food production , and also to raise consumer awareness of food products around the world .
Now with 77 , 000 members in five continents and offices in Europe and the United States , Slow Food is divided into 700 local groups known as convivial (a Latin word meaning “ hospitality ”) . Each convivium organizes , debates , shows and other events .
All Slow Food events and activities are based on two fundamental principles : the importance of conviviality and the right to pleasure . They have a manifesto (宣言) which reads : Let us rediscover the flavors of regional cooking and remove the harmful effects of Fast Food . In the name of productivity , the Fast Life has changed our way of being and threatens our landscapes .
Slow Food believe that any traditional product represents the flavors of its region of origin , as well as local customs and ancient production techniques . This is why they are working to protect historic cafes , inns and restaurants around the world , as well as agricultural heritage –crop biodiversity , traditional farming techniques and sustainable development .
It is certainly ironic (讽刺的) that Slow Food has become a fast growing movement . If it wants to keep up with the success of the movement , the snail will have to speed up . 68.Why does Slow Food chose snail s their logo ?

71.What’s the purpose of this passage ?
A.To persuade consumers to join in the movement .

D.To express his opinions about way of life .

Today we are living in the Age of Technology . Things that were once viewed as Science Fiction are becoming a reality . We either accept these changes and move with the times or we resist and become technophobes .
The reality is much simpler than saying that technophobes fear technological advance . Technophobes are anxious because the environment in which they live and work is changing . They suffer feelings of self doubt and anxiety . They often feel insecure and obsolete . Some worry that they will lose their job because they cannot keep up with the times . In more extreme cases , technophobes convince themselves that technology will take over the world or that humans will be controlled by computers and robots . At other times they are afraid that if they press the wrong button on their keyboard , the computer will explode .
In most cases technophobes belong to older generations who were not brought up playing with computer games and mobile phones . They have never sent a text message or heard of an i –pod . Not only do they not possess a DVD , they still have not worked out how to use their VHS (家用录像机) . It is understandable that technophobia exists . Experts in the field of technology are becoming younger and younger . Being taught by somebody who is young enough to be your grandson goes against the laws of nature . Traditionally information and knowledge has been passed down from older generations to younger generations . Young people were taught to respect their elders in part because of the knowledge thy possess . If this system is turned upside down , then what happens to the respect for our elders ?
If ignorance is , in most cases , the cause of technophobia . then it follows that knowledge and learning is the way to improve the situation . What technophobes need is information . Simple computer classes often prove highly successful , especially where the student groups are made up of peer groups . It is equally important that groups of technophobes who have decided “ to give it a go ” have an appropriate teacher ; somebody as similar as possible as themselves in age ; somebody who will send out a message that sa ys “ If I can do it , then so can you ” . 72.What are technophobes ?
A.Experts who are skillful at technology
B.People who don’t like modern machines
C.Teachers who can’t keep up with the times
D.Young students who lack traditional knowledge
73.We can learn from the passage that the older generations ________
A.may be scared to lose the respect from young people
B.own be scared to lose the respect from young people
C.don’t like playing with mobile phones
D.can’t afford any i – pod , DVD or VHS
74.What is the last paragraph mainly bout ?
A.The deep respect for the elders
B.The possible cause of technophobes
C.The practical solutions to this problem
D.The new system of information technology
75.What is the author’s view on technophobes ?
A.It’s easy for technophobes to learn to use computers
B.It’s impossible for technophobes to overcome their fear
C.Technophobes can build up confidence if given proper help
D.Technophobes can be encouraged by messages in learning process .

Dear Harry ,
How are things going ? I’m writing to tell you about our New Year’s party .
On the last day of the year 2008, our class held the New Year’s party for the final year of senior high . After lunch , we cleaned our classroom and decorated it with colorful paper ribbons and lamps . And then we arranged the desks and the chairs in a circle where we can put on performances . When the clock began to strike two , our monitor declared the celebration open . After singing and dancing , we played games and exchanged gifts and New Year cards . In the end we wished each other the best luck . We enjoyed ourselves so much that we didn’t want to say goodbye . What a wonderful party we had , and I will never forget it .
Best wishes ,

第二节开放作文(15分)
Possible version 1 :
In this picture , a boy is trying his best to run in a hurdle race and a man runs with him saying something to him . I think the man must be the boy’s coach , who is encouraging the boy to jump over the hurdle in front of him . This picture shows me what our teachers are doing when they support us in the preparation for the college entrance exams . Most of them work with us and give us instructions in time . And they also devote themselves to helping us improve our studies , as well as inspiring us to work harder . With their encouragement we know how to jump over the “ hurdles ” with courage and confidence . I think this picture seems to tell us that the encouragement from teachers or parents is very important to our success .
( 136 words ) Possible version 2 :
From the picture I can see a boy and a man who are running on the track . The boy is preparing to jump over the hurdle in front of him , while the man is shouting at him to let him know the methods of clearing that hurdle . I think the man may be the boy’s father , who is very concerned for his son’s performance or afraid to see his son’s failure . I think as a parent , the father should give his son a free hand , in that case his son may feel less stressful and achieve better results .And as a child , the son should be more independent and learn to overcome the
difficulties himself . So in my opinion , getting over the hurdles in our life needs more trust and greater independence .
