It should have been a perfect summer. My father bought me a new bicycle though I couldn't ride very well. He set a basketball hoop for me in the backyard, and best of all built a tree house beside it. But it wasn't, because Jeremy Ross moved into the neighborhood.
He laughed at me when he struck me out of the baseball game, and he had a party on his trampoline(蹦蹦床)while I wasn't invited. Jeremy Ross became my enemy. I didn't like him at all. Dad understood stuff like enemies. He told me he had enemies too when he was my age and that he knew a good way to get rid of them. T'H show you.,, he said.
He began to make Enemy Pie in the kitchen which he said was the fastest known way to get rid of enemies. Excitedly, I got my mind working: Dad might put disgusting things like weeds, earthworms and rocks from the backyard into the pie, but none of those. Instead, I smelled something really, really good from our kitchen. Confused, 1 went to ask my dad. "If the pie smelled bad, your enemy would never eat it." he said. I was catching on.
Still, 1 wasn't quite sure how this enemy pie worked. What exactly did it do to enemies? Maybe it made their hair fall out, or made their breath smelly?
“Everything is ready except that there's one part left fbr Enemy Pic to work. You need to invite your enemy over. Even worse, you have to be nice and make friends with him. I know it's not easy, but that's the only way Enemy Pic can work." Dad told me.
It sounded horrible, but i( was worth a try. All I had to do was spend lime with Jeremy Ross and then he'd be out of my hair fbr the rest of my life.
I knocked on Jeremy's door. Jeremy seemed surprised when he opened (he door, waiting for me to say something, "Um, can you come to my house and play with me?" I asked nervously. 注意:

It was strange that I should be kind of having fun with my enemy! I let him play games in my tree house which I didn't even allow my sister in. We had a good laugh and enjoyed each other's company. Text 10
OK. Turning to the stages of sleep, according to the scientists, there are five stages in a night's sleep. In different stages of sleep, our brains put together thoughts and experiences, and then store them in an organized way, giving us clearer memories. According to Robert Stickgold, a sleep researcher at Harvard Medical School in Boston, it seems that different kinds of sleep improve different kinds of memories, and this might be why we have the five different stages of sleep. Recent experiments suggest that the final stage of sleep is the most important because it plays a big part in organising our memories and improving our learning. The final areas I want to talk about are things that can stop us sleeping well. One of them is too much light. Street lights and security lights mean that even when we're asleep it's never completely dark. Another problem is the busy modern life with the Internet, 24-hour shopping, global travel, etc. Because of this, our days are becoming longer and the nights shorter —andthis could also damage our health, as we're not getting enough sleep. People say that wc sleep less as wc get older, but everybody's different—some people need more sleep, others less. There are two types of sleep—NREM and REM. Next class wc will talk about the two types of sleep.

When Emanuel received an email from Professor Richard English, Queen's Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics, encouraging him to apply for a PhD in Politics in Belfast, it was a Dinch・me moment Emanuel never thought would be possible. After all, just a few short years ago, he was living on the streets couch-surfing at friends' houses and weeding gardens to make ends meet. Now, one of the world's leading political academics was preparing to welcome him to Queen's University over 4,000 miles away.
Emanuel never knew who his father was and his mom was menially ill when she gave birth to him. so the hospital took him off her and he was unofficially adopted for the first few years of his life. What followed was a childhood with uncertainly as Emanuel was passed between (he adoption system and family members.
Through his high school and community college years, he moved from house to housejiving with friends at times and living on the streets at others.
Determined to change all that despite his rocky start in life, Emanuel involved himself in school-doing everything he could to earn extra tuition (学费)money in his spare time. But getting accepted into university was scarcely possible because a person like him couldn't get a regular student loan.
Fortunately, the government backed him. having created a policy allowing disadvantaged persons to access funding for higher education. He graduated from the University of the West Indies with a 1st Class Honors degree and went on to do his Masters.
Emanuel knows that his story could have been very different.
T discovered Professor Richard English online and sent him an email honestly, not thinking he would reply and to my surprise, he did. Several years ago, when someone used camera covers to protect against possible monitoring, it was not popular to talk about it. Today, people use various types of tapes to cover the web cameras and microphones.
There are many types of spyware that can dive into our devices and secretly spy on them, recording everything they do. Such programs may infect not only computers but also smartphones. Your data may be used by hackers who will try to request money for notexposing your private information or by companies like NSO Group who created the Pegasus spyware to "provide authorized governments with technology that helps struggle againstterror and crime".
In my opinion, the described protection technique is highly overestimated. Users tape cameras and microphones due to the lack of understanding of how their devices work and how malware (恶意软件)works. Hackers and even secret services do not have enough resources to monitor all victims using cameras or microphones. If they need to get any information, they get it by sending a targeted malware to your device, which will not be stopped by the tapes. Such a virus will find what to steal from personal photos and videos to passwords from social networks, browser history, bank accounts and much more.
It is unwise to believe that attackers will not be able to find a way to spy on you, even if the device, discharged to zero, can still deliver data about your location, using the smartphones of the surrounding people as signal repeaters. Let us face it, we live in an era when it is extremely difficult to hide something, and a piece of (ape is clearly not the most useful tool in the struggle for your privacy.
Again, to be able to spy on you, attackers need to plant malware in your device. To prevent malware from entering your device, do not click suspected links and email attachments. Use strong passwords for email, social media and online banking accounts.
25.What is NSO Group?
A. A group of hackers.
B. A company developing spy ware.
C. A group of terrorists and criminals.
D. A company fighting against crime.

To emphasize praise and progress, we established weekly prize ceremonies, presenting awards for most improved reading, tennis and behavior.
Then one day, Eli shut the book and asked me, "Can I take this to read it to my mom tonight?,, Peering up at her eager face, I couldn't help myself I jumped to my feet and wrapped her in a hug, lifting her right off the ground. "It's all yours!" I said.
