二、引导同位语从句的词及其在句中的功能 1. 连接词that和whether。 (1)that在同位语从句中仅仅起连接作用, 不充当句子 成分, 但是不能省略。 *The manager put forward a suggestion that we should have an assistant. There is too much work to do. 经理提出了一个建议, 我们应该有一个助手。工作 太多了。
*There is no doubt that this candidate’s advantage lies in his ability to communicate with foreigners in English. 毫无疑问, 这位候选人的优势在于他用英语与外国人 交流的能力。(no doubt表示肯定概念)
*The question why they were defeated was answered. 他们被击败的原因这一问题被解答。 *It is difficult to answer your question how I did it. 回答你我是如何做的问题是困难的。
三、doubt后的同位语从句 名词doubt(怀疑)后的同位语从句用whether引导; no doubt(毫无疑问)后的同位语从句用that引导。
引导词
that, whether, who, what, which, how, when, where, why等
*(2018·天津高考)The possibility that there is life on other planets in the universe has always inspired scientists to explore the outer space. 宇宙中其他行星上有生命存在的可能性一直激励着科 学家们去探索外太空。
【易错精点】 有时同位语从句与其所解释说明的名词会被其他
成分隔开, 从而形成分隔式同位语从句, 这样做主要是 为了保持句子结构平衡, 避免头重脚轻。 *He got the news from Mary that Mr Roger retired last week. 词汇复现 他从玛丽那里得到消息说罗杰先生上周退休了。
(2)whether 在同位语从句中译为“是否”, 仅仅起连 接作用, 不充当任何句子成分。 *The question whether it needs reforming will be discussed at the meeting. 它是否需要改革这个问题将要在会议上被讨论。
2. 连接代词who, what, which, whom, whose引导同位 语从句时, 在从句中作主语、宾语或表语等; 其意义分 别为: 谁; 什么; 哪一个; 谁; 谁的。 *His parents have no idea which way will be suitable for their child. 他的父母不知道哪一条路会适合他们的孩子。
*The order that they should set out early next day has been received. 他们第二天尽早动身的命令已被接收。 *This is our only request that this (should) be settled as soon as possible. 这就是我们唯一的请求: 尽快解决这个问题。

3. 连接副词when, where, why和how。 连接副词when, where, why, how引导同位语从句时则 在句中作时间、地点、原因和方式状语; 其意义分别 为: 什么时间; 哪里; 为什么; 怎么样。 *They still need some information about when and where the meeting will be held again. 他们仍然需要会议将何时何地再次举行的一些信息。

同位语及同位语从句 【语用功能】 同位语从句是名词性从句的一种, 跟在抽象名词后, 对 名词进行解释说明。
【新知导引】 写出下列句子黑体部分的作用 1. We teachers should be responsible for this.
*We have some doubt whether he can finish his report on time. 我们怀疑他能否按时完成报告。(some doubt 表示不确定的概念)
四、同位语从句中的虚拟语气 名词order, suggestion, request等词后的同位语从句, 需用虚拟语气, 即从句谓语动词用“(should+)动词原 形”的形式。 *Here is my suggestion that you (should) apply for Peking University. 我建议你申请北京大学。

【要义详析】 一、同位语及同位语从句 1. 同位语主要用于对名词进行解释与说明, 属于名词 的范畴, 与其所说的名词是同位关系, 可充当同位语的 有名词(词组)、代词、数词、形容词(短语)、动名词 (短语)、不定式(短语)及从句等。
(2)The news _th_a_t__sh__e_h_a_s_p_a_s_s_e_d_t_h_e__N_a_t_io_n_a_l_c_o_l_le_g_e_ _e_n_tr_a_n_c_e__e_x_a_m_i_n_a_t_io_n_(她通过了高考)is exciting. (3)Mike made a promise _t_h_a_t_h_e_w__o_u_ld__h_e_l_p_m__e_w__it_h_ _m_y__E_n_g_l_is_h_(他将帮助我学习英语). (4)He had the doubt _w_h_e_t_h_e_r_i_t_w_o_u_l_d__r_a_in__to_m__o_r_r_o_w_ (明天是否会下雨).
*They two finally decided to work together and achieve their dream. 最后他们两个决定一起工作实现他们的梦想。
2. 同位语从句:
