on the pavement, her face buried in her hands, sobbing quietly. I couldn't help but feel a pang of concern. What had happened to her? Was she lost? Hurt? Or was it something else?
Approaching her cautiously, I asked, "Are you okay?"
She looked up, her eyes red and swollen. "I...I lost my way to school," she stuttered. Her voice trembled with fear and uncertainty.
