• The ocean bill of lading is an essential document in making a shipment. • What is a bill of lading? Bill of Lading is a receipt in printed form given by the shipping company for goods which have been received for sea transportation.

Shipment
• Ships have long been used for transportation. They are still the most important means of transportation in international trade now. • In sea transportation, chartering of ships or booking shipping space is involved. And the contract entered into between the shipowner and shipper(发货人,托运人) may take the form of a Bill of Lading(提单).
• (2) • Dear…: • Re: Order No. 2170 for 1,000 M/T Tin Foil Sheets • Referring to our letters and telexes in respect to Order No. 2170 for 1,000 metric tons of Tin Foil Sheets, so far we have no definite information from you about delivery time, although these goods are contracted for shipment before the end of last month, and our L/C was opened with the Bank of China as early as in March 2001. • We have been inconvenienced by the delay.
